The actor has been making headlines for months now, of course, ever since he was sued by It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively for inappropriate behavior on the set of that hit movie…

The whole thing is quite the scandalous mess, with Baldoni’s attorney doing most of the talking for his client over the past several weeks.

Until Sunday, that is.

In honor of Mother’s Day, Baldoni wrote the following on Instagram:

As a judge in the ongoing legal strife between It Ends with Usco-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni ruled that Baldoni’s team of attorneys could continue speaking publicly on the case, they are doing just that. Per People, in a letter arguing that Lively’s request for a gag order in the case be denied, Baldoni’s team of lawyers, led by Bryan Freedman, said the actor/director has suffered “hundreds of millions of dollars” in damages.

Although Judge Liman didn’t restrict the two sides from speaking about the case publicly, he did say he may move up the trial date if the two teams continue to battle in the press. A tentative trial date is set for March 9, 2026.

James Byrkit is creating some of the most intellectual and original sci-fi out there, and speaks with MovieWeb's James Melzer about his work, from the cult classic Coherence and its upcoming sequel to his star-studded series Shatter Belt.

Following the box office success of It Ends With Us earlier this summer, the work of author Colleen Hoover has become a hot ticket item for adaptation, and Universal Pictures has secured the rights and release dates to one of her titles, Reminders of Him. It Ends with Us became the surprise box office hit of 2024, grossing $148 million at the domestic box office and $344 million worldwide. A New York Times Best Selling author, Hoover's novels have started to gain Hollywood's attention as they hope to find the next big mid-budget adult-skewing drama hit.

According to Variety, Universal Pictures won a bidding war for the rights to Hoover's 2022 novel Reminders of Him. Despite not having a cast or a director, Universal Pictures has already set Reminders of Him for February 13, 2026, a release date in time for Valentine's Day and the three-day President's Day weekend. Hoover is set to co-write the screenplay with Lauren Levine.

Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively’s movie “It Ends With Us” is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel by the same name, which the author has said is based on her mother’s marriage.

The movie is the first cinematic adaptation of any of Hoover’s books.

Baldoni optioned the movie through his company Wayfarer Studios in 2019, but he told TheWrap that he always knew he wouldn’t be able to make the film alone. “No matter how much research, or how many women I talk to, or how much I try to empathize or even get into the mind and heart of my wife, I’ll never be able to understand what that experience is like. I knew that going in,” he explained.

Blake Lively, star of the breakout summer hit “It Ends With Us,” took to Instagram Tuesday morning to discuss the film’s domestic violence narrative.

Accompanied by a video of a BBC red carpet interview, Lively wrote in a story post, “Thank you to everyone who came to show that people Want to see films about women, and the multitudes we hold. ‘It Ends With Us’ is a story of the female experience. All the highest highs, and the lowest lows. And we are so proud of it. We have been in celebration of this film and of getting a message so important out there to the masses.”

In a follow-up post, Lively shared a link to the National Domestic Violence Hotline resource page, adding that, “1 in 4 women aged 18 and older in the U.S. alone have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Colleen Hoover fans are reportedly flocking to theaters to see Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us. While the book is the most popular among Hoover’s works, it cannot be categorized as a critically acclaimed work. The reviews from theaters too suggest a similar situation as the critics appear to hate Lively’s film.

Though "Coherence" sounds like the title of a movie about achieving clarity or unity of some sort, viewers of James Ward Byrkit's 2013 directorial debut may have found the film's increasingly complex sci-fi plot anything but clear.
