Here’s an official trailer for Tell Me Softly, the latest film from Culpables trilogy creator Mercedes Ron.
The Spanish-language YA feature is based on the first novel from Ron’s Tell Me novel series, which like Culpables comprises three books. It’s set to drop on Prime Video in December, two months after Ron’s final chapter of the Culpables triloy, Culpa Nuestra (Our Fault), launches in October.
Set at the fictional Carsville International School, it follows Kami (Alícia Falcó), whose carefully constructed facade is threatened by the return of the basketball-playing Di Bianco brothers Thiago (Fernando Lindez) and Taylor (Diego Vidales). “They’re back,” Kami’s friend says to her as the watch on courtside in the trailer.
Joining Falcó, Lindez and Vidales in the cast are Celia Freijeiro, Patricia Vico, Andrés Velencoso, Eve Ryan and Fernando Nagore.

The Walt Disney Co.’s streamer is gearing up to launch a very different type of streaming content with Regreso a Las Sabinas (Return to Las Sabinas), a 70-episode daily series from Spain that kicks off with the first five episodes on Oct. 11. The remaining episodes will be released one a day Monday to Friday starting on Oct. 14.
Sofia Fábregas, vp of original production at Disney+, Walt Disney Co. Spain, discussed the experiment of bringing such an ambitious melodrama production to the streaming world in during an event in Madrid on Tuesday. After all, the Disney+ show is the first daily streaming series made in Spain.
The need for streamers to keep viewers engaged by offering fresh content regularly could well explain the series. But the show also took two and a half years to make, and more episodes means more money spent. So Fábregas and her team’s decision came down to core values.

Netflix has released an official teaser trailer for Bird Box Barcelona, an upcoming spinoff set in the same universe as the 2018 film.
"Those things, they take our fears, and they twist them," explains Georgina Campbell's undisclosed character in the opening moments of the Netflix teaser. The upcoming Spanish-language spinoff takes the terror and action from the original film and places it thousands of miles away in Spain. Similar to the 2018 film, which starred Sandra Bullock, Barcelona follows a family as they try and survive while avoiding visual contact with the mysterious creatures that are causing mass suicides across the globe. However, according to an unseen individual in the trailer, the monsters are evolving, suggesting that the protagonists in the upcoming spinoff may be in for a tough road ahead.

Leticia Dolera, co-writer, lead director and star of the Movistar Plus-HBO Max produced “Perfect Life,” a 2019 double Canneseries winner, is developing a new series, “Puberty,” which looks sure to be one of the hottest titles at this month’s Conecta Fiction & Entertainment.

The deal marks the second milestone deal with a big European network for the eight-part series after Germany’s Rtl Group swooped on free-to-air rights for Germany.
Talks with Poland are being finalized. There are ongoing negotiations for U.S. distribution, as well as with European and Latin American partners, Beta Film sources said Wednesday.
Unusually for a sale, the M6 deal takes in rights to both the original series, which will screen on female/family focused M6 channel Téva, and format rights, acquired by the M6 Group’s production-distribution company Snd with the idea of creating a France-adapted prime time version.

San Sebastian — “La Casa de Papel” (“Money Heist”) may be the most seen of Spanish series this year. Leticia Dolera’s still-to-bow “Perfect Life,” however, is the most laureled, sweeping at April’s 2nd Canneseries TV festival both best series and best special performance for its female leads, Dolera herself, Celia Freijeiro and Aixa Villagrán, from a jury presided over by “Dark” co-creator Baran bo Odar.
Sold by Beta Film and a Movistar+ Original Series – as women’s voices are heard ever more in its line-up – “Perfect Life’s” full series now world premieres at the San Sebastian’s big screen Velodrome – a sign of its perceived broad audience appeal.
“Winning Canneseries, up against ten other series at a place where Leticia wasn’t well-known, is one of the loveliest things that has happened to me,” says Domingo Corral, Movistar+ head of original fiction.
He adds: “Leticia’s series talks...

Dolera, whose series centers on a disillusioned overachiever, gave a rousing acceptance speech. "Stories are a great bridge of empathy, and I think stories are a great tool to fight against hate, against intolerance, against ignorance, against racism, against machismo, that's why I think culture should ...

Cannes — Leticia Dolera’s Spanish women’s comedy “Perfect Life” swept the 2nd Canneseries TV festival on Wednesday night, scooping both best series and best special performance for its female leads, Dolera herself, Celia Freijeiro and Aixa Villagrán.
With Israel’s “Nehama,” a Hot Original dramedy created, co-written and starring Reshef Levi winning best performance for Levi, the 2nd Canneseries prize winners can be seen as a vindication of the drama series’ decided bet on comedy as a way to portray key gender issues.
“Now more than ever, it is important for women and men to get together and recognize the importance of gender equality,” jury member Kathrin Winnick said during the awards ceremony.
In “Perfect Life’s” case that’s gender stereotypes with its protagonists, male and female, fall short of the high-achievement traditional role models they have been brought up on – a home, husband, children. They would be happier,...

Netflix movies may still be question mark in terms of being allowed in competition at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival in May, but the streaming giant will be present at Cannes Series. The Cannes television festival will mark its second year next month with Netflix going up against rival Amazon in the competition section. The full lineup includes series from Israel, Norway, Spain, and Belgium.
Netflix’s competition entry is the German series “How to Sell Drugs Online Fast,” from writers Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann. Amazon is heading to Cannes Series with “The Feed,” a London-set drama created by Channing Powell and based on the novel Nick Clark Windo. “The Feed” stars “Game of Thrones” favorite Michelle Fairley opposite David Thewlis in a story about a piece of technology that allows people to instantly share thoughts and emotions. The tech falls into the wrong hands and becomes a murderous weapon.

Since its debut in 2007, the web series Chica Busca Chica, or “girl seeks girl,” has emerged as “Spain’s answer to The L Word,” with its mostly lesbian cast, constant hookups and hilarious antics.
Indeed, Chica Busca Chica shares many similarities to one of the most well-known lesbian TV shows in America ― memorable characters, a focus on sex and relationships, and a cast of beautiful women. Yet the show lacks the exploration of serious issues in the Lgbt community that made the Showtime series so dramatic.
Still, Chica Busca Chica succeeds as a blithe comedy that explores dating, cheating and lesbian life in present-day Madrid, and it's now available in Spanish with English subtitles on DVD through Wolfe Video.
The show revolves around four major cast members: Nines the “Flirt” (Celia Freijeiro), Mónica the “Psycho” (Cristina Pons), Carmen the “Hetero” (Sandra Collantes), and Ana the “Newbie” (Almudena Gallego).

A lesbian police officer and her forensics expert girlfriend sneaking a quickie at work. A lesbian doctor and a female nurse house-hunting together after finally reuniting. A young woman trying to figure out how to tell her boyfriend of eight years that she's fallen in love with a woman.
No, this isn't the lineup of an American gay TV channel — this is what you'll see on some of the most popular national primetime series in Spain.
While the American primetime television landscape is virtually barren when it comes to lesbian and bisexual visibility — with very few lesbian/bi characters on broadcast TV, and only slightly more on cable or premium channels — lesbian/bi characters are flourishing on mainstream Spanish TV shows.
Spanish TV wasn't always this inclusive. Only 10 years ago, Lgbt characters were primarily limited to smaller shows on regional channels, with a few exceptions such as the lesbian couple...
