It's always a little worrying when weeks go by without word about a new show. Is it cancelled? Is it coming back? Motorheads premiered over two months ago, and despite a positive reception with Season 1 rated fresh at 78% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Prime Video has yet to renew the show for Season 2. Deadline caught up with the streamer's Head of TV, Vernon Sanders, and discussed their current slate of young adult dramas. They also asked about the status of Motorheads Season 2. While Sanders did not reveal whether the show would return, his comments about it were encouraging. Many shows suffer the fate of lack of completion, but not Motorheads. Vernon revealed that the streamer was seeing some good completion rates, which is always a positive sign. He explained:

Ever since Ransom E. Olds founded Oldsmobile in 1901, Americans have been wild about cars. With roads stretching every which way throughout the United States, cars gradually became the country's preferred mode of transportation -- especially after the development of the freeway system. The automotive industry in the U.S., born and centered in Detroit, has also long been a symbol of roll-up-your-sleeve American ingenuity. We dream big, work hard, and produce reliable automobiles. And Fords.
The country's romance with cars is amply reflected in film and television. Back in the 20th century, Hollywood knocked out big-ticket auto racing films like John Frankenheimer's "Grand Prix," Lee H. Katzin's "Le Mans," and no less than three Elvis Presley movies centered on motorsports. Filmmakers also introduced the car chase as an obligatory set piece in action movies, which was quickly adopted by television producers for slam-bang series like "The Dukes of Hazzard,...

Motorheads Season 1 provided a major hint on what really happened to street racer, Christian Maddox (Deacon Phillippe). The new street racing drama from Amazon Prime Video revolves around the story of twins Zac (Michael Cimino) and Caitlyn Torres (Melissa Collazo) as they try to navigate a major shift in their lives after moving to Ironwood, Pennsylvania.
While meeting newfound friends and enemies, there is a deeper reason why the Torres family decided to move to the small town: to find the truth about the disappearance of their missing father, Christian Maddox.
The quest for the truth for Zac and Caitlyn, alongside their mother, Samantha Torres (Nathalie Kelley), places them in a high-stakes unpacking of their father's past. This allows them to discover more of Christian's time in Ironwood, heal wounds by reconnecting with old friends, and create new relationships that will define their future in the local town.

Most of us are past the age where soapy teen melodramas are our go-to television programming. Sure, we appreciate rich people misbehaving on shows like Yellowstone and Succession, but we turn our noses up at it when we focus on high school-aged protagonists. Many of those shows are not worth the time it takes to watch them, but now and then there is a solid foray into the Young Adult genre. Motorheads is one of those shows.
Led by former teen heartthrob Ryan Phillippe, Motorheads is set in the working-class town of Ironwood, Pennsylvania, where Zac (Michael Cimino) and Caitlyn (Melissa Collazo) return with their mother, Samantha (Nathalie Kelley), after the disappearance of their father. Staying with their uncle, Logan Maddox (Ryan Phillippe), Zac and Caitlyn find themselves getting acclimated to the small town where their father’s notorious reputation sets them up within the cliques. As the truth about the family comes to light,...

Motorheads was an overnight success, reaching No. 1 in the US on Prime Video, and that doesn't attest to how amazing this show is. I promise the series will surprise you. This coming-of-age show brings together car lovers and young adult genre fans in a format that reminds viewers of timeless stories like The Breakfast Club, Grease, The Outsiders, and Outer Banks. The creator, writer, and executive producer of Motorheads told a viewer that episode 8 is where the series pays homage to John Hughes.
The storyline, friendships, families, and rivalries have a vibe from the '80s to the early 2000s. Between the grungy outfits and town rivalries, the story is a blast from the past. Fittingly enough, the episodes draw from flashbacks from 17 years ago to the present day, from flip phones to smartphones, yet the show doesn't miss a beat in storytelling.

When the camera cuts from sputtering engine backfires to the weathered façades of Ironwood’s main street, you feel the pull of two worlds colliding. The debut episodes of Motorheads set the stage with a flashback: a young Christian Maddox hurtling past cheering crowds, his Charger a blur of chrome and ambition. Cut to present day, and his twins, Caitlyn and Zac Torres, are rolling into their mother’s Rust Belt hometown—leaving Brooklyn’s skyline for empty storefronts and the hum of idle engines.
Their arrival hinges on Samantha’s hope to recapture something she lost long ago, but it quickly sparks questions: Can these teens honor a vanished legend while carving out their own identities? The show tees up two central strands—solving the mystery of their father’s disappearance and grappling with small-town expectations that feel as rusty as abandoned factories.

There are times in Amazon’s Motorheads, especially during the Neil Burger-directed premiere, when it feels like you’re not really supposed to have been paying attention. Or, at least, when it feels like the show presumes you haven’t been.
Character introductions and plot developments are prefaced by blaring musical cues to let you know in no uncertain terms how to feel. The dialogue is bloated with exposition: “I mean, your dad just lost her,” a girl says to her boyfriend of his own recently dead mother, as if he might have forgotten. And in case none of that might be enough to redirect your attention from whatever TikTok video you were watching simultaneously, the soundtrack is crammed with recently huge, surely expensive hits by the likes of Benson Boone, Teddy Swims and Olivia Rodrigo.
Arguably, such nudges might be useful, even necessary, given it’s likely some...

Plot: Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your first car. Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, the series is an adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of street racing, while navigating the hierarchy and rules of high school.
Review: I am not a car guy, but I am a sucker for movies and series that feature racing. I am also a sucker for kids banding together and forging a team to push back against bullies and bad guys. Whether it be The Goonies, It, or even the Harry Potter films, when a series or film can deliver a teen-centric drama without pandering to the soapier tendencies of young adult fare, it can make for a very entertaining watch. So many shows pander to the audience...

If there’s one thing the Fast and Furious franchise has mastered, it’s reinvention. What started in 2001 as a movie about street racing and DVD player heists somehow morphed into a billion-dollar saga where cars fly, submarines chase Lamborghinis, and Vin Diesel defeats helicopters with a pair of Dodge Chargers. Over 10 movies (and counting), we’ve seen everything from rooftop chases in Rio to family barbecues that feel just as intense as the action scenes.
And through it all, Dom Toretto has reminded us, repeatedly, in case we forgot, that nothing is more important than family.
Of course, not every Fast & Furious movie is a nitrous-fueled masterpiece. Some entries turned the franchise into cinematic gold, while others, well, let’s just say they were running on fumes. The early movies were all about the underground racing scene, but as the franchise grew, so did its ambitions. By Fast Five,...

On April 4, Deadline shared a first look at Prime Video‘s new YA street racing series Motorheads, which will premiere on May 20. The streamer ordered the "coming of age" series in November 2023 and announced the main cast.
Audiences will follow a group of outsider teens who bond over their love for adrenaline and speed from automobiles as they try to overcome the aches and pains of growing up. The series sounds similar to a mix between The Outsiders, Outer Banks, and Grease in the best possible ways: budding teen romance, a found family friend group, and adventures that will last a lifetime.
Deadline shared the series' synopsis, from writer-showrunner John A. Norris:
"Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your very first car. Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, the series is the adrenaline-filled story...

Hulu and 20th Television’s Prison Break pilot from Elgin James is coming together as Emily Browning, Lukas Gage and Drake Rodger have been set as series regulars.
As we previously reported, James’ version will be its own thing and set within the same universe as the original Fox series of the same name from Paul Scheuring. While the plot of James’ version is under wraps, the trio’s character descriptions give a little insight.

Fans of weird and eerie German movies, rejoice! Your Halloween spooky viewing has arrived, and it's carved out a steady spot in Netflix's Top 10 trending watches. "Old People" is German-Romanian filmmaker Andy Fetscher's horror thriller wherein the old eat the young, bludgeon them, and sometimes vomit on them. It's the sort of concept that M. Night Shyamalan would have a field day with, but Fetscher adds more chaos and a cadre of monsters at the door.
A title card at the opening reads:
In times of yore, an avenging spirit was thought to inhabit old people. A dark power that took possession of the frailest members of the clan and drive them into a seemingly blind rage.
That's right – this is functionally an elderly rage-zombie movie. What a time to be alive.
At its core, the story focuses on generational disconnect by observing lonely elders, excluded from local festivities,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar is glad that NBC passed on a TV series based on her 1999 film “Cruel Intentions.”
The actress discussed the reboot during a recent interview with The New York Times. The pilot was ordered in February 2016, but the network had passed on the series by October of the same year. Gellar would have reprised her iconic role as the manipulative Kathryn Merteuil.
But, ultimately, she agreed that the series wasn’t a fit for network television.
“Nothing against NBC, but ‘Cruel Intentions’ is straight streaming,” she said. “On the first day, I was like, ‘This isn’t working.’ It’s just not a network show. And if it is a network show, it’s not my ‘Cruel Intentions.’ So, I was actually grateful.”

It's been a little under a year since ABC canceled The Baker and the Beauty after a single season.
The news shocked fans of the series, who pressed on with a campaign to get the series picked up at another destination.
But, unfortunately, the stars did not align in the soapy drama's favor, and it was left in the TV graveyard.
Now, with The Baker and the Beauty Season 1 emerging as a force to be reckoned with on Netflix, a second season is possible.
"I think I can speak for everyone when I say we would love to do a Season 2," series creator Dean Georgaris told Newsweek.
"We actually had the season all mapped out, including a great guest-star character arc."
Nathalie Kelley, who played Noa Hamilton, the show's female lead, finds it "miraculous" how the series performed well on Netflix.

Dynasty has run wild with its wardrobe. The series focuses on the complicated relationships of a superrich family living in extreme luxury. Designer clothing is the expectation for such a high-class cast. The show surpasses that expectation by having characters change into several outlandish outfits over the course of single episodes.

After taking heat for its cancellation of Baker and the Beauty, ABC is putting into development a new hourlong Latinx drama from exec producer Eva Longoria.

It appears The Baker and the Beauty‘s cancellation will stick: Efforts to find a new home for the axed ABC romantic dramedy have proven unsuccessful, TVLine has learned.
The news comes three weeks after Alphabet network cancelled the show, citing low ratings. In the immediate aftermath of the announcement, the series’ leading lady, Nathalie Kelley, condemned the decision. “Baker and the Beauty is a show that depicts Latin families as warm, lovable, full of joy and compassion and humor,” the actress said. “A cancellation by ABC means that there are now no shows on the networks with a Latinx cast.
