After Cordelia's discovery at the end of episode 1 that Australian Foreign Minister David Rylance (Brett Tucker) was wearing A.B.'s shirt and could have something to do with A.B.'s murder, The Residence episode 2 offers some context. White House chef Marvella (Mare Wiseman) got into an argument with A.B. over Rylance being in the kitchen and not being able to use flames for her wagyu dinner. Pastry chef Didier Gotthard (Bronson Pinchot) also took fault with A.B.'s no-flames proclamation.

The 44-year-old two-time Emmy winner hit the blue carpet at the premiere of The Residence on Wednesday evening (March 19) held at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood in Los Angeles.

Shondaland’s third major Netflix Original title is The Residence, which Netflix has announced will be released in March 2025. We’re keeping track of everything you need to know about The Residence, including the plot, cast, first look, and Netflix release date.

Netflix announced it acquired the Kate Anderson Brower book rights in July 2018. It announced it was moving forward with the series adaptation in March 2022.

Attorney-turned-screenwriter Paul William Davies will serve as writer and showrunner for the series. His credits include such projects as Scandal, Betrayal, and For the People. The Residence will be part of Davies’ new overall deal with Netflix, where Shondaland is also under an exclusive deal that was re-upped after initially being struck in 2018.

Netflix’s “The Resident” has added singer Kylie Minogue, Jane Curtin, James Babson, Eliza Coupe, Izzy Diaz, Paul Fitzgerald, Roslyn Gentle, Chris Grace, Juliette Jeffers, Sumalee Montano, Brett Tucker, Nathan Lovejoy, E. L. Losada, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, and Rebecca Field to its heavyweight cast.

They join previously announced cast members Uzo Aduba, Andre Braugher, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mary Wiseman, and Randall Park.

The official logline reads: “132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.” The series is currently in production.

Mark Hamill and Lupita Nyong’o were among the winners on Saturday night as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the children’s and animation categories. The show represented the second of three Daytime Emmy ceremonies this year; the third will be live streamed on Sunday.

Nyong’o won the limited performance in a children’s program Emmy for playing the Storyteller, in Netflix’s “Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices. Hammil was named outstanding performer in a preschool animated program for Disney Channel’s “Elena of Avalor.”

This represented the first year that all children’s programming, regardless of timeslot, shifted to the Daytime Emmys, under a new agreement between New York-based NATAS and L.A.-based Television Academy.

Disney Channel Gives Early Season 2 Renewal to New Comedy ‘Gabby Duran’ (Exclusive)
Disney Channel has already given a second season order to “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables,” its new single-camera comedy that doesn’t premiere its first season until this Friday, Oct. 11.

“Gabby Duran” stars young singer and actress Kylie Cantrall as a 13-year-old who moves to a new town and winds up with an unusual babysitting job, looking after a group of extraterrestrial children hiding out on earth and posing as everyday kids.

Production on Season 2 of the show starts next February in Vancouver. “‘Gabby Duran & The Unsittables’ gives us a bold new heroine, brought to life by the incredibly talented Kylie Cantrall and our top-notch creative team led by showrunners Mike Alber and Gabe Snyder,” said Kory Lunsford, Disney Channel’s vice president of current series.

Alber and Snyder (“Kirby Buckets”) executive produce with Joe Nussbaum (“Just Add Water”).

“We like to do comedy with a high-concept hook to it,” Alber said.

TV News Roundup: Disney Channel Greenlights Live-Action Series ‘Gabby Duran & the Unsittables’
In today’s roundup, Disney Channel greenlit a new live-action series titled “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables,” and Showtime set a date for the mid-season return of “The Circus.”

New Us streaming service buys Oz comedy
Sticky Pictures. Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane is among the first acquisitions by a new Us online comedy channel.

The six-part musical comedy will screen on NBCUniversal.s SeeSo, an ad-free subscription service which will launch in January 1 on streaming platforms and connected devices for $US3.99 per month.

Commissioned by the ABC, the first live-action prime time series from Sticky Pictures centres on two mismatched housemates: Sammy J, a hopeless, down-and-out lawyer who, six years into his legal career, is yet to win a case, and Randy, a cheating, gambling, drinking divorcee who happens to be a purple puppet. Written by and starring Sammy J and Randy and produced by Donna Andrews, the series airs on ABC on Wednesdays at 9.30pm. The cast includes.
