‘9-1-1’ Trailer: Maddie’s Kidnapped by Serial Killer When Season 8 Returns (Video)
Image
The wait is almost over! 9-1-1‘s return is just about a month away, and that means it’s soon time for more trauma. Before the ABC drama went on break in November, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) had decided he’d move to Texas to be with his son (who’s been living with his grandparents) and was looking at real estate listings, Buck (Oliver Stark) was dealing with his breakup with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) by baking a lot, and Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) revealed to Chimney (Kenneth Choi) that she’s pregnant. Looking ahead, showrunner Tim Minear had told TV Insider, “There’s kind of a thriller that’s going to start in Episode 9 and Episode 10 I’m really excited about because it’s just a flat-out thriller.” Now, ABC has released new footage ahead of the midseason premiere on Thursday, March 6. It begins with Josh (Bryan Safi) talking about a possible hostage situation,...

9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 8 Review: A Main Character Teases Their Exit In An Emergency-Heavy Fall Finale
Image
This article contains spoilers for 9-1-1 season 8, episode 8, "Wannabes"

The fall finale of 9-1-1 season 8 feels like an episode that could have aired during the show's Fox era. If there is one observation about the show's move to ABC, it's that there has been more focus on the lives of the main characters over the outlandish emergencies that earned the franchise its reputation. The emergencies in the fall finale, titled "Wannabes", aren't too wild. But there are quite a few of them, which doesn't leave room for any major developments. At least until a surprising scene in the closing minutes.

Things get messy for the 118 following a massive pile explosion. Meanwhile, Athena investigates a brutal beating of a man found behind a grocery store, and Bobby's working relationship with Brad from 'Hotshots' just got a little more intimate.

Is Eddie Leaving 9-1-1? Showrunner Addresses Season 8's Fall Finale Cliffhanger
Image
Warning: Contains Spoilers for the mid-season finale of 9-1-1 season 8.The first half of 9-1-1 season 8 concludes with a rescue-heavy episode that sees Brad be the hero he portrays in Hotshots, talking a man off the ledge. "Wannabees" wraps up several of its immediate plotlines, but drops a major cliffhanger moments before the credits roll. After learning that Christopher is in a chess club, Eddie decides that he's done missing out on the big moments. Buck catches him looking at houses for sale, and the firefighter confesses that he might move to Texas to be closer to his son.

Christopher has always been Eddie's top priority, so the desire to put him first isn't surprising. However, when a show is eight seasons in, it can often be difficult to tell if a story is meant to drive the plot or signify an impending cast exit. When speaking with ScreenRant,...

Jennifer Love Hewitt Recalls the Media Knowing About Her Mother’s Death Before She Did
Image
Jennifer Love Hewitt is opening up for the first time about her close relationship with her mother in new book Inheriting Magic — the title of which she says describes how she’s carried on her mother, Patricia Mae’s, legacy of making everyone around her feel special.

“I would be on a very successful television show, we would walk into a restaurant and people couldn’t care less about me; that was my mother,” said Hewitt in conversation with 9-1-1 co-star Bryan Safi at a celebration for the upcoming book and Lifetime movie The Holiday Junkie at Zibby’s Bookshop in Los Angeles. “They wanted to know who was the woman that I was standing next to because she was light, she was joy. She made friends with everyone, there was no stranger in the world to her whatsoever.”

Hewitt went on to share an example of how her...

‘9-1-1’ Boss on Tommy’s Wild Revelation, Buck & Eddie Figuring Themselves Out
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 6 “Confessions.”] Tommy may be a common name, but it’s not that common in the world of 9-1-1. We knew that Abby (Connie Britton‘s Season 1 dispatcher) had an ex with that name, but as Buck (Oliver Stark) learns in the latest episode, her Tommy and his (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) are the same person. It’s shocking, but, after a great talk with Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Josh (Bryan Safi), he’s ready to move past it. Tommy, however, responds to his suggestion they move in together by breaking up with him. Elsewhere in the episode, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) is doing much better after a conversation with a priest about not punishing himself. He even finds a bit of joy in an homage to the Risky Business dance! And, after Maddie raises the question of potentially ...

‘9-1-1’ Star Oliver Stark Breaks Down Buck’s ‘Devastating’ Breakup and That Abby Twist
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 6.

Perpetually lovelorn — and injury-prone — firefighter Buck (Oliver Stark) got his heart broken again in Thursday night’s episode of “9-1-1,” when his boyfriend of six months Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) suddenly broke up with him.

Buck and Tommy were just celebrating their sixth month anniversary when Buck learned that, before he came out as a gay man, Tommy was engaged to Abby — yes, that Abby (Connie Britton) — for two years. He was upset that Tommy could have stayed in a relationship with his former flame for so long living a lie, until Josh (Bryan Safi) explained how much harder it was to be open about one’s sexuality even just a few years ago.

Buck took that moment of doubt and decided to double down on his relationship with Tommy by asking him to move in. However, Tommy thought “baby bi...

‘911’: Oliver Stark on That Relationship Shocker and the “Unexpected, Delicious Way” He’ll Move Forward
Image
[This story contains spoilers from episode six, season eight of 911.]

Buck (Oliver Stark) is back on the market following Thursday night’s episode of 911.

Early into episode six of season eight, “Confessions,” Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) makes a startling revelation when he casually shares that he used to be engaged to 9-1-1 dispatcher Abby Clark (Connie Britton). At the time, he doesn’t know Abby is also Buck’s ex.

But, surprisingly, it’s not their shared past that is the undoing of their relationship. After notably only having a mini-spiral session about Tommy admitting that he broke Abby’s heart, leading her to date a “himbo” half her age after they called it quits — him being the male Bimbo — Buck asks Tommy to move in with him toward the end of the episode. What should be a happy moment quickly turns sour, however, when Tommy tells Buck he believes he’s his first male relationship after coming into his bisexuality mid-season seven,...

‘9-1-1’ Cast Staged Major Comeback on ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ — Was It Enough to Win?
Image
The casts of 9-1-1 and Jury Duty faced off in the latest episode of Celebrity Family Feud, and we have to admit, at the beginning, we didn’t see how the former could win. Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Tracie Thoms, and Bryan Safi from 9-1-1, playing for the American Red Cross, faced off against Ronald Gladden, Cassandra Blair, Maria Russell, David Brown, Susan Berger, and Edy Modica from Jury Duty, playing for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. Stark and Gladden faced off first. “We asked 100 men, fill in the blank, you know a date’s not into you if she ____ after you kiss her,” host Steve Harvey said. Stark rang in first with “comes up with an excuse,” but it wasn’t on the board. “Pulls out her phone,” Gladden said, and it, too, wasn’t on the board. Then it went to Guzman,...

'9-1-1: Lone Star' Needs More of Grace and the Call Center
Image
Since the premiere of Fox’s 9-1-1, we have gotten a dramatized glimpse at the lives of the first responders who put their well-being at risk to help others in need. It’s most notable with the firefighters, paramedics, and police, as they are the ones out in the field facing imminent danger more often than not. However, the series has also never shied away from showing the toll on a person’s mental health as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, the first line of contact in an emergency. We’ve seen this with Abby (Connie Britton), Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Josh (Bryan Safi), and even May (Corinne Massiah). However, 9-1-1: Lone Star, the spin-off now well into its fourth season that follows Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) and his team in Texas, has never offered as much attention or placed enough importance on the call center as the original.

Every 9-1-1 Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
Image
Ryan Murphy's Fox procedural "9-1-1" is billed as a show about heroes. More specifically, the show follows first responders — firefighters, 911 operators, and cops on the front lines of disasters. As such, the audience is always encouraged to root for the main characters as they face danger and emotional devastation to get the job done. That doesn't mean that every character in the show is endlessly lovable, of course. These first responders all have their demons to contend with — demons they must put aside while in the field.

If "9-1-1" were filled with totally unlikable characters, it wouldn't work. This is a show about selfless people who run toward the fire, not away from it. Nonetheless, while every character in the series gives 100 percent to the job, their personal lives are another matter. Some characters deal with their problems better than others, and that's what makes the show interesting. Nobody's perfect,...

Game of Thrones (2011)
‘Gay of Thrones’: Queer eye for the Stark guy recaps the ‘Game of Thrones’ season 8 premiere [Watch]
Game of Thrones (2011)
If I’m being honest, the most important reason to watch the “Game of Thrones” season 8 premiere was to be prepared for the “Gay of Thrones” season 8 premiere, “Winterfella” (watch above). The Funny or Die web series is the queer-hairdresser-throwing-shade recap you didn’t know you needed in your life.

“Buckle up, queen, because the wall is down, a woman’s on the throne — it’s the America I wish I was living in!” orders Jonathan Van Ness, who was gay for “Thrones” before he became one of the new fab five on Netflix’s “Queer Eye.” He’s joined this week by guest Bryan Safi, with whom he breaks down the latest developments for Christina Aguilera (Daenerys), Baby Miss Cleo (Bran Stark), Evil No-Volume Carol Brady (Cersei Lannister), Hunty McTrade (Gendry) and more.

Stephen King at an event for The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Pennywise Eats a Baby in It Deleted Scene
Stephen King at an event for The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
It had a scene that was just too disturbing to make it to the big screen, and it's not the young teen orgy scene that you're thinking of. The movie is now the highest grossing R-rated horror movie of all time as well as the highest earning Stephen King adaptation and the fastest grossing movie for a September opening. If that weren't enough, It would have probably been a contender for the most disturbing scene in a horror movie had it kept the original scene in where Pennywise the dancing clown munches on a baby.

Before the big screen adaptation of It hit theaters, Pennywise actor, Bill Skarsgard, talked about a scene that was cut from the movie that was "really, really disturbing." Skarsgard said that the scene was a flashback to the 1600s before Pennywise was Pennywise. The actor had this to say.

"The scene turned out really, really disturbing.

‘Gay of Thrones’: How Funny or Die Recaps ‘Game of Thrones’ in Less than 24 Hours Every Week
Gay of Thrones (2013)
“Moulin Rouge” or “The Mighty Ducks”? That was one of the toughest decisions being made Sunday night at the Funny or Die offices in Los Angeles, where the cast and crew behind the “Game of Thrones” recap series “Gay of Thrones” had gathered, as they had for the past four weeks this summer, to watch the HBO blockbuster drama and (lovingly) tear it apart.

By 5 p.m. the following day, the latest installment was online — an awe-inspiring turnaround, given the Emmy-nominated series’s dense implementation of clips, visual jokes and actor-driven improv, cut down to a tight runtime that rarely exceeds five minutes.

Curious about what it takes to make this possible in less than 24 hours, IndieWire asked to get a peek behind the scenes of the show’s production this year.

Bryan Safi and Erin Gibson in Throwing Shade (2017)
TV Land Is ‘Throwing Shade’ At Unpaid Maternity Leave – Watch
Bryan Safi and Erin Gibson in Throwing Shade (2017)
Last night’s episode of TV Land’s “Throwing Shade” jumped politically from the likes of Mike Huckabee to crowdfunded breast milk fro-yo. In a sketch detailing the absurdity of paid maternity not being considered a right for women, Erin and Bryan have created their own crowdfunding methods for having a baby. Because, as Erin warns, in this day and age having a baby means that “not only do you have to deal with morning sickness, now you have to learn iMovie.”

“Throwing Shade’s” Bryan Safi and Erin Gibson’s partnership goes way back to their early days of writing for the Current TV comedy news show “Infomania.” After the death of said comedy news show, the two brought their chemistry into the more personal realm of a podcast pertinent to their specific issues. With its podcast roots, and a subsequent series produced by Funny or Die, “Throwing Shade...
