10 Minor Wheel Of Time Characters Who Are Way More Important Than They Seem
Image
Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Wheel of Time book series after The Dragon Reborn and for season 2 of The Wheel of Time TV show

Amazon's The Wheel of Time series finished its second season with a literally explosive climax, as Rand al'Thor showed the world he was the Dragon Reborn as he slew Ishamael, the Betrayer of Hope. The Wheel of Time season 3 and its "absolutely bananas" opening will follow Rand as he continues on toward his destiny of fighting the apocalyptic Last Battle against the Dark One. Yet The Wheel of Time is a popular show not only because of such powerful characters with capitalized epithets showing how important they all are - it's popular because the world is full of fascinating people with their own destinies.

While many of the show's changes from the books have been met with criticism, some of the differences in The Wheel of Time...

‘The Wheel Of Time’ Renewed For Season 2 By Amazon Ahead Of Launch
Image
Amazon is doubling down on The Wheel of Time.

The streamer has renewed the fantasy series for a second season ahead of the launch of the show. It comes as production has wrapped on season one in the Czech Republic.

It is the latest market in a long road for the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s books, which has been in development in one form or another for 20 years and that Amazon ordered to series in October 2018. Like many series, production of the drama was also hit by the pandemic.

The Wheel of Time, set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it, is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television and comes from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Chuck writer Rafe Judkins, who is showrunner and exec producer.

It stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization...

Mark Cavendish named BBC Sports Personality of the Year
Mark Cavendish has been crowned 2011's BBC 'Sports Personality of the Year'. The cyclist beat golfer Darren Clarke and athlete Mo Farah into second and third place respectively. Upon receiving the award from Sir Bobby Charlton, he said: "I'm absolutely speechless, without my team, this wouldn't be close to possible. "I'd like to thank everyone that supports me, and obviously well done to all the other people who were nominated. Just to be nominated this year in such an incredible year in UK sport, I'm lost for words." He added: "I want to thank everyone at home who's voted. For me it's a landmark in cycling, for cycling to be recognised in a non-Olympic year is unheard of, and it's incredible to see." Review: English
English

Stars: Leon Wander, Alex Nowak, Peter Charlton, Darren Clarke, Harmage Singh Khalrai | Directed by Tarun Thind

Imagine my surprise when my old colleague Jotty asked me to watch a short film at this year’s Portobello Film Festival, called English and it turned out to be awesome. From the mind of writer, director and producer Tarun Thind, despite this was a thought provoking and gritty short film that beautifully highlighted some pertinent issues in today’s society. In his own words:

The story follows friends English and Jehst who stumble across a harmonica that ignites their roller-coaster journey. Attracting the unwanted attention of several disgruntled characters, they find themselves crossing paths with an erratic homeless man, a territorial hoodlum and a narrow-minded shopkeeper. These intense encounters set up the perfect opportunity for the two friends to give the loudest speech of their lives.

What I found interesting and compelling...
