It's kind of unbelievable that Ryan Reynolds pitched 19 different ideas for Deadpool 3 before he and Marvel finally settled on Deadpool & Wolverine. It goes without saying that the immense success of Deadpool & Wolverine is proof that the correct decisions were ultimately made. After a significant run in theaters, Deadpool & Wolverine ended up grossing $1.3 billion worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing superhero movies ever made, and breaking the record for the highest-grossing R-rated movie - an accolade previously held by Joker.
It's no real surprise, of course. Money-spinning nostalgia was decidedly piqued by Wolverine's starring role alone but certainly spurred further by the myriad cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine. I find it crazy to think that this success was thanks to Hugh Jackman's epiphany while on holiday, leading to a call with Reynolds in which Jackman expressed his enthusiasm for making what he called a "Wolverine & Deadpool" movie.

The Batman's Commissioner Gordon actor, Jeffrey Wright, shared that he has yet to have any serious conversations with director Matt Reeves about The Batman Part II. The star appeared alongside Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Paul Dano in the first installment in the series, which aimed to take a more realistic look at Batman's early career.
In a recent interview with Inverse, Wright said he was "excited about getting back there," while adding that audiences know about "as much as [he] does," given that he hasn't "read anything" or "talked to Matt for a while." Per Wright, both have been "off doing [their] thing." Despite the potential setbacks in filming, the actor persists that he is looking "foward to getting back there."
With Reeves' creative direction, Wright is optimistic about the potential this iteration holds. The actor stated: There's a lot to explore... I think the vision that [Reeves] has...

Batman and the Joker have been fighting one another for decades, and that entire time, the Joker has been learning and evolving, proving that the monster he eventually turns into is Batman's fault. While Batman is known for being the man with a contingency plan, the Joker can also claim the same.
The Joker likes to style himself as a madman who doesn't really have a plan. He's an agent of chaos who goes along with whatever whim he has at the moment. While this reputation is certainly terrifying, it's not entirely accurate, as revealed by the first issue of his first solo series: The Joker #1 by Denny O'Neil, Irv Novick, and Dick Giordano.
In this issue, readers learn that the Joker is actually very good with plans, and he always has a backup. After being captured by Two-Face and put into a nefarious deathtrap, the Joker manages to break out,...

Warning: Spoilers for Wonder Woman (2023) #15 ahead!
It's arguably the oldest superhero trope in the world and Wonder Woman has just trampled it into the dust. Superheroes have been breaking up bank robberies for almost as long as the genre has existed, but now Wonder Woman and her friends have good reason to flip the script and commit some bank robberies of their own.
Wonder Woman (2023) #15 written by Tom King, with art by Daniel Sampere picks up right after the death of Steve Trevor at the Sovereign's hands. While Wonder Woman takes care of her and Steve's newborn daughter, Trinity, she oversees the various Wonder Girls and Cheetah as they dismantle the Sovereign's financial networks with brutal efficiency.
Yara Flor's target is particularly brazen, as the Sovereign notes that "the Flor woman robbed seventeen banks in nine states" - and indeed, Yara seems particularly gleeful at the chance to rob...

Warning: Spoilers for Titans #17Nightwing has faced countless dastardly villains throughout his years as a crime-fighting vigilante, yet I never would have predicted the one he considers his nemesis. In fact, I don't think anyone could guess who Nightwing's worst enemy is, as Dick Grayson confirms an unexpected fight to be his deepest trauma in DC lore.
Titans #17 by John Layman, Pete Woods, and Wes Abbott pits Nightwing and his fellow Titans against Clock King, who harnesses the power to manipulate their minds and trap them within their most traumatic memories. The rest of the Titans contend with their classic rivals, with Raven reliving her showdown with Trigon and Starfire battling Blackfire, whereas Nightwing recalls a fight with an unlikely villain: the android Failsafe.

1989s Batman retroactively gained a new villain, thanks to John Jackson Millers Batman: Resurrection, and we already know what becomes of this antagonist. Set between 1989s Batman and Batman Returns, Resurrection explores the fallout of Jokers lethal crime wave in the first film while setting up the rise of Returns villains like Max Shreck and The Penguin. Additionally, Resurrection introduces Basil Karlo Clayface to its Burton Batman universe and retroactively adds Hugo Strange who serves as the books true villain to 1989s Batman as a background character.
Batman: Resurrection cleverly retcons Hugo Strange into 1989s Batman, revealing that the previously unnamed Axis Chemicals scientist was actually the classic Batman villain. Stranges machinations continue to threaten Gotham City in Resurrection, with Strange having Clayface masquerade as the Joker and leading Gothams citizens, including Batman himself, to believe that Jack Napier faked his death. Alice in Borderland season 3 is bound to answer the one question that neither the first two seasons nor the original manga did. Netflixs Alice in Borderland is based on a manga of the same name by Haro Aso, which also received a brief anime adaptation. Alice in Borderland made some changes to the source material, but the Netflix live-action show was relatively faithful to the manga. However, now that Alice in Borderland season 3 is happening, the show will deviate further than ever from the original story.
Alice in Borderland season 2s finale covered the final chapters of Haro Asos manga. In other words, there are no stories left for the Netflix show to adapt. The only exception is Alice in Borderland: Retry, which is set a few years after the main story and sees Arisu returning to the Borderland as Usagi is about to give birth to their child. However,...

Batman has had a lot of nicknames over the years, including the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, and the World's Greatest Detective - but DC has already proven that Batman is nowhere close to being the World's Greatest Detective. He's not even the sixth greatest.
Batman proves his own nickname false in Detective Comics #1000's story "Longest Case" by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. In this story, Batman recounts the longest mystery he ever had to solve, starting when he first became Batman. While solving a murder, Batman notices an irregularity in the victim's home. Originally thinking it was part of the crime, Batman soon realizes there was a larger mystery afoot.
From Japan to the deepest parts of the ocean to the jungles of Brazil, Batman travels the world, and every single clue he discovers leads him to another. After years of chasing these clues, Batman discovers that it...

Watching Christopher Nolans The Dark Knight trilogy in retrospect has revealed some scenes that are even better today than upon their release. Christopher Nolans The Dark Knight trilogy revolutionized superhero films, blending emotional depth, grounded realism, and unforgettable performances. Over a decade since its conclusion, many of its scenes resonate even more strongly today. From intense action to profound DC character moments, these sequences gain new layers of meaning with time and repeated viewings.
Nolans groundbreaking trilogy began in 2005 with Batman Begins. This first installment was widely praised, but the second movie, 2008s The Dark Knight, became a cultural phenomenon. Widely considered one of the greatest comic book movies of all time, The Dark Knight earned numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Heath Ledgers scene-stealing turn as the Joker. The trilogy concluded in 2012 with The Dark Knight Rises, drawing together all remaining narrative threads for a bombastic finale.

DC Studios is reportedly focusing on more films centered around its iconic villains, shaping the direction for its cinematic future.
Insider DanielRPK shared on his Patreon that the studio is actively developing projects exploring the backstories of its antagonists.
Though details are limited, this move signals DC’s intent to dive into more character-driven narratives.
Villain-focused films aren’t new for DC. The success of Joker, a cultural phenomenon, showed that audiences are drawn to darker, more introspective tales.
Given this success, along with The Penguin, it’s no surprise that DC is leaning into this approach.
Whether these films will feature familiar villains like Lex Luthor or lesser-known characters from DC’s vast roster remains to be seen.
What’s certain is that DC is looking to offer a fresh take on the classic heroes vs. villains dynamic.

Often, the best movie villains are the ones who reflect key traits of the heroes. By acting as a foil, villains can highlight the flaws of the protagonist, or they can act as a cautionary tale about what could happen to heroes if they stray too far from the light. The most interesting movie villains are usually the ones that share a deep connection with the heroes, as if they are two sides of the same coin.
Great movie villains should feel just as nuanced and realistic as the protagonists, or else the entire conflict can fall flat. While pure evil villains have their place, it's usually more thought-provoking when the villain is just one step removed from the hero. By showing the hero and villain competing for the same goal, movies can drill down deeper into each character, highlighting the subtle differences that define them.

1989s Batman, directed by Tim Burton, was a landmark film for a number of reasons, and its legacy is such that the film continues to spawn comic book sequels that continue the story of Michael Keatons Dark Knight to this very day. Yet there was an earlier comic book sequel that has been nearly forgotten these days, but which saw several Bat-characters make their debut in the world of Batman 89.
The comic book sequel in question was actually a comic strip, running from November 6th, 1989 to August 3rd, 1991. Intended to capitalize off the massive success of the Batman movie, the syndicated strip was the first time Batman appeared in the newspaper comic section since the early seventies.
With a dream team of artist Marshall Rogers and uncredited writer Max Allan Collins in place, the strip loosely follows the events of the film, albeit with some changes. Batman wears his classic blue-and-gray costume from the comics,...

Studio oversight, for any production, often gets a bad rep when it fails to deliver even when it has great characters on its hands. A recent example would be the Dceu, which found itself largely botched at the hands of Warner Brothers in the bid to chase the same trend that was making the MCU butt loads of money.

It seems that almost every week the Joker is returned to Arkham Asylum by Batman or the police, and yet he always escapes. Fans have often wondered how the Clown Prince of Crime keeps escaping Arkham so easily, but DC gave the reason decades ago, and it just shows how the Joker truly is Batman's perfect equal.
The Joker's brilliant strategy to escape Arkham Asylum was revealed decades ago in 1976's The Joker #7 by Elliot S. Maggin and Irv Novick. In this story, it's revealed that the Joker has a mini-Ha-Hacienda hideout under his Arkham Asylum cell that he can access at any time. It's recently been reported that Daniel Craig is in talks to play Sgt. Rock in a movie by DC Studios. A classic DC Comics character, Sgt. Rock is certainly a lesser-known character as most of his stories are set in the 1940s, and his interactions with DC's more popular superheroes are very limited. That said, a Sgt. Earlier this week, the Superman director and studio executive said there's no rush to make the movie. That's not because the hero isn't a priority; instead, the goal is to make sure the story is as strong as possible before cameras roll.
Batman has appeared in a very long list of live-action movies so how can this one stand apart from them and what does DC Studios need to do to make sure it's a success? And no, firing Muschietti (who directed The Flash) isn't one of our suggestions...even if it's an admittedly good one.

It is clear that R rated superhero movies have an audience if they are solid films. This was proven when Deadpool was released in 2016 and made over seven hundred million dollars. Logan was released the following year and made over six hundred million dollars. For R rated movies, that’s incredible. For superhero movies that’s, amazingly, not an enormous amount of money. Then, Deadpool 2 made seven hundred eighty five million dollars in 2018. Infamously, Joker, technically a comic book movie while not truly a superhero movie, made over a billion dollars becoming the highest grossing R rated movie of all time. It was recently dethroned by Deadpool and Wolverine which grossed 1.33 billion. This trend did not continue with Joker 2, but there’s reasons for that we won’t get into here.
In five out of the last eight years, there have been R comic book rated movies released that were very successful.

Pop megastar turned actress Lady Gaga has emerged as one of Hollywood's most in-demand talents since her Academy Award-nominated performance in A Star is Born, and it seems most of the major studios are keen to work with her.
Despite the movie's frosty reception, Gaga received high praise for her turn as Harley "Lee" Quinn in the recent Joker: Folie à Deux, and we have heard that James Gunn wants her to play a different character in the Dcu. Gaga has been rumored to have met with Lucasfilm about a potential Star Wars role, and there are also whispers that she could be lining up a Marvel Studios gig.
Now, scooper Mttsh is reporting that Kevin Feige is interested in bringing Gaga into the MCU fold as a specific character: Dazzler!

Did Eternals’ Barry Keoghan audition for Spider-Man? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Whether you’re a Marvel or DC comics fan, you’ve come across the name Barry Keoghan. He has played roles like Druig in “Eternals” and the Joker in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” Before landing these roles, Barry Keoghan had his eyes set on another comic book character: Spider-Man.
Spider-Man stands out among other Marvel superheroes, with an impact and cultural significance like no other in history. Tom Holland currently portrays the role of Spider-Man, which is famous and highly coveted by many actors eager to wear the red and blue suit of web-slinger fame, including Barry Keoghan.

About a decade ago, makers were finding their next Spider-Man after Andrew Garfield, and actors were waiting for their casting calls. Keoghan took a different approach to secure an audition.

While the Joker may not have laser tripwires or a hidden entrance in his version of the Batcave, he's got a trap that even Batman would struggle with. Batman's Batcave is one of the most secure places in the DC Universe; it's practically impossible to break into it due to all the security features. But the Joker's security is so tight that not even Batman can break past it.
There's no denying that the Joker is an immensely popular character, convincing DC to give him his own series several decades ago, beginning with 1975's The Joker #1 by Denny O'Neil, Irv Novick, and Dick Giordano. This issue gives readers a deeper insight into the Joker, how he gets around Gotham City, and where he hides in between his crimes. Usually, readers don't see the Joker until he pops up and starts causing trouble, but he actually has a secret lair called the Ha-Hacienda.

A great movie musical can truly stand the test of time, although thats only if audiences actually want the movie to be a musical, unlike what happened with the highly divisive release of Joker: Folie Deux. The commercial failure of Joker: Folie Deux proved that not all viewers will respond well to a musical movie sequel and that this is a major risk with a significant chance of backfiring. With this in mind, its interesting to note the movies that would benefit from the musical sequel and imagine how they could successfully carry forward the series' legacy.
The best movie musicals have earned their way into the hearts of viewers who connect deeply with over-the-top theatrical narrative, beautiful renditions of heartwarming ballads, and magnificently choreographed dance routines of awe-inspiring wonder. Turning a non-musical movie into a musical for its sequel wont work with every release, but if they could pull it off,...

Over 500 People Auditioned To Star In Batman: The Animated Series, So Why Do We Only Know Two Names?
More than 500 actors reportedly auditioned to voice Batman in Batman: The Animated Series, yet the identities of most of them remain a mystery. Batman: The Animated Series debuted in 1992 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest animated shows of all time. Created by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski, the series redefined Batman for a new generation with its noir-inspired tone, mature storytelling, and iconic voice cast. Despite the show's enduring legacy and the immense popularity of Kevin Conroys portrayal of DCs Dark Knight, only two other actors are known to have auditioned for the part.
One of the key contributors to Batman: The Animated Series was Andrea Romano, the series casting and voice director. Romanos role was pivotal in assembling the stellar ensemble of actors to bring Gothams characters to life. James Bond actor Daniel Craig is officially in talks to star in a DC Studios Sgt. Rock adaptation. James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe will open with a dozen projects across all genres, formats, tones, and eras, including live-action entries such as James Gunn's Superman and the Lanterns miniseries, as well as animated series like Creature Commandos. Although the Dcu's "Gods and Monsters" chapter is already pretty crowded, more upcoming DC projects are yet to be officially announced.
As reported by Deadline, Queer director and star Luca Guadagnino and Daniel Craig will reunite for a Sgt. Rock movie. Justin Kuritzkes, who wrote Guadagnino's Challengers and Queer, is also penning the script. Sgt. Rock will reportedly be the next film in the Guadagnino's career.

Luca Guadagnino and Daniel Craig, who recently joined forces on the A24 indie “Queer,” are reuniting on a much grander scale. The duo are circling “Sgt. Rock,” an adaptation of the comic book, for DC Studios. No word on the plot, but it will probably involve a lot less sex and drug taking than their prior collaboration.
The deals haven’t been finalized, so the project could fall apart. But the studio is bullish on the script from Justin Kuritzkes, who previously wrote “Challengers” and “Queer” for Guadagnino. The new movie is being developed under DC’s new leadership team of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who have been reinvigorating the company.
Gunn’s upcoming “Superman,” which debuts in 2025, is intended to kick off a new era for the comic book studio. DC has struggled to maintain consistency (for every “Joker” there’s been a “Joker: Folie à Deux”) and...

There are a ton of stories about actors going to great lengths to land auditions for prized roles. One trick that Barry Keoghan likes to do before landing an audition is to make a short film. Everyone has already seen his Riddler short that was made. (He eventually landed the role of Joker in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.”) But almost a decade ago, he tried the same thing for Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Warning! Spoilers for Action Comics #1076!With both the Fortress of Solitude and Krypton now destroyed, it seems that DC is finally moving onto destroying Superman's third important location, the Phantom Zone. As Aethyr takes over the Phantom Zone, it's finally crumbling to nothing, and Superman is about to lose the final important landmark in his history.
The surprising destruction of the Phantom Zone is glimpsed and teased in Action Comics #1076 by Mark Waid and Clayton Henry. The Phantom Zone has been taken over by Aethyr, a being who wanted to make the Phantom Zone a better place. Unfortunately, the Phantom Zone is full of violent criminals, and Aethyr quickly realizes the error of his ways in trying to give these people salvation.

There are two key items on my wishlist for the next Jesse Stone movie, and they really must be resolved. I can't believe it's nearly been ten years since Lost in Paradise marked the unofficial end of the Jesse Stone TV movie series. From 2005 to 2015, Tom Selleck played the titular police chief in all nine entries, but the veteran star's commitment to Blue Bloods kept him away from the character. With Blue Bloods ending there's renewed talk of Jesse Stone 10, and I hope the next film can wrap up some unresolved plotlines.
Now, the thing I always enjoyed about the series is that while each entry is somewhat standalone, they feature a large cast of recurring characters and subplots. Lost in Paradise was a solid entry, but it in no way served as a proper finale to the series either. It didn't reveal what became of Rose (Kathy Baker), where...

I’ve seen many reviews of Joker: Folie A Deux that say the same thing: it has nothing to say. Whatever your thoughts are on the movie, claiming that the movie has no message or is not making a statement is blatantly wrong. Maybe you just missed the message, and that’s fine as it was hidden behind layers of irony and musical numbers.
***Spoilers for Joker: Folie A Deux below.***
Before we dive into the message of the movie, I want to state my thoughts on the movie as a whole. There were parts I thought really worked and parts I felt fell completely flat. The musical numbers felt strange and awkward even when the message of the movie is considered. The scene in which Arthur is dragged into the showers and raped by the guards was disturbing and unnecessary to the plot. I actually really liked the ending,...

The new Dcu kicks off with Creature Commandos this December, but the inaugural movie, James Gunn’s Superman, will be coming next year. While the new shared universe revamps the DC continuity, the brand doesn’t shy away from side stories either, with bonus Batman projects like the Todd Phillips Joker movies and Matt Reeves’ The Batman movies with The Penguin spin-off. However, there’s another director who is interested in telling his own side story with the famous Caped Crusader.

Batman has had more than enough experiences delving through asylums, the Joker's traps, and even the Riddler's torturous puzzles - but he's never been at the mercy of this kind of Saw-like torture. In a new cover, the Caped Crusader is going up against a killer like no other in comics. It's often said that Batman can beat any villain with enough prep time, but how prepared he would be against Jigsaw is any comic fan's guess.
As revealed in DC's February solicitations, in the finale of the "We Are Wounded" arc in Batman: Dark Patterns #3 by Dan Watters and Hayden Sherman, Batman is on the case of the killer known as the Wound Man. Netflix shouted out the stat that they dub in 36 languages and subtitle shows in 33 languages. Bajaria also said that 80% of Netflix subs watch Korean content.

Barry Keoghan hasn't "heard anything" about suiting up as the Joker again for 'The Batman: Part II'.The 32-year-old actor briefly appeared as the Clown Prince of Crime in director Matt Reeves' DC superhero blockbuster in 2022, and while Keoghan would love to play the character again in the sequel, he hasn’t been approached about doing so yet. When host Josh Horowitz asked Keoghan whether he was in 'The Batman: Part II' during an appearance on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, he said: "It's a big one, but I am going to say that, if the opportunity came about, yes, I'd love to explore, and given the opportunity, really dive into it."But I have not been contacted, I've not heard anything."While the 'Saltburn' star is unsure whether he will be in 'The Batman: Part II', it has been confirmed that Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell and Zoe Kravitz are...

In The Batman, The Riddler is defeated by the Dark Knight and locked up in Arkham. Then, in the closing moments of the movie, the serial killer makes a new friend who we'd later discover is Barry Keoghan's Joker.
Warner Bros. released an extended deleted scene from the movie while it was still in theaters which saw Batman visiting The Joker in Arkham to see if his twisted mind could help track down Edward Nashton. It turns out the vigilante had placed the villain behind bars during his "Year One" in Gotham City, setting the stage for an inevitable rematch between the two arch nemeses.
It's been widely reported that The Joker will return in The Batman Part II, though filmmaker Matt Reeves may have bigger plans for this sinister new take on the Clown Prince of Crime in his eventual third movie.

This is probably going to make a lot of you feel very old, but by the time Tron: Ares is released next year, 15 years will have passed since Tron: Legacy took us back to the Grid (which itself was a follow-up to the original 1982 classic).
Can this third chapter, from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Rønning, live up to fan expectations? There's some uncertainty, particularly with Morbius and Suicide Squad star Jared Leto taking on the title role of Ares. However, the fact the Oscar winner is playing a program who leaves the Grid and enters the real world is undeniably intriguing.
Talking to Empire (via SFFGazette.com), Rønning addressed how the move from Daft Punk to Nine Inch Nails on the soundtrack is indicative of the sci-fi franchise's continued evolution.
"With Nine Inch Nails making the music, this instalment will be a little grittier,...

The Batman Part II is being developed right now. Even though the movie has been delayed for almost a year, we’re still getting regular updates about it.
Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, Zoë Kravitz will be back as Selina Kyle (Catwoman), and Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce’s loyal butler.
Colin Farrell will return as the Penguin, rounding out the main cast. While most of the cast has been confirmed for some time, one character remains up in the air: Barry Keoghan’s Joker.
Keoghan recently spoke about his potential return during his appearance on Happy, Sad, Confused, and to sum it up, it’s still uncertain.
