Armie Hammer Set for Lead Role in Uwe Boll’s Vigilante Thriller ‘The Dark Knight’ (Exclusive)

Armie Hammer’s comeback is picking up steam after nabbing the starring role in Uwe Boll’s latest film, “The Dark Knight.”

Hammer is set to play the crime-fighting titular character in the vigilante thriller, which is scheduled to begin principal photography in Croatia on Jan. 27.

The embattled actor, who saw his career come to a halt in 2021 following allegations of sexual misconduct, recently returned to work in Travis Mills’ forthcoming western “Frontier Crucible,” which also stars Thomas Jane and William H. Macy.

Following a lengthy probe, Los Angeles prosecutors in 2023 declined to charge the actor with any crime.

Prior to the allegations, Hammer starred in such high-profile pics as Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger” alongside Johnny Depp, Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” with Henry Cavill and Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name” with Timothée Chalamet.

Amanda Plummer, James Russo, Ulrich Thompson Board Uwe Boll’s Migrant Thriller ‘Run’ (Exclusive)

Amanda Plummer of “Pulp Fiction” and “Star Trek: Picard” fame and veteran thesps James Russo and Ulrich Thompson (“The Celebration”) have joined Uwe Bolls’s forthcoming migrant crisis thriller “Run.”

Set to start shooting in Croatia on April 17, the film focuses on a group of desperate migrants as they reach the Italian coast after a perilous journey across the Mediterranean Sea and the impact of their arrival on locals and tourists.

James Russo, Ulrich Thompson and Marcus Henderson

The film boasts a large ensemble cast that also includes Marcus Henderson (“Get Out”), BAFTA-winning actor Barkhad Abdi (“Captain Philipps”) and Costas Mandylor (the “Saw” franchise).

“Run” follows the individual storylines of migrants as they seek to avoid police as well as those of locals and tourists who get caught up in the events through the course of a day, culminating in a violent escalation.

Uwe Boll Takes on European Migrant Crisis in ‘Run’ (Exclusive)

Uwe Boll is turning his lens on Europe’s growing migrant crisis in the forthcoming thriller “Run.”

Set to start shooting in April on the Croatian island of Krk, the film follows a boat carrying migrants from various African countries through the Mediterranean sea to Italy. When the boat loses orientation and goes off course, things turn violent as the migrants blame the smugglers.

After finally making it to shore, the desperate passengers try to evade police and a few manage to get away. The film focuses on the individual storylines of the migrants, locals and tourists through the course of the day as they lead to a violent escalation.

Docu Talents From the East’s Sarajevo Showcase Features Projects About Vaclav Havel, Hungarian Journalists, Kurdish Refugees

The lineup for Docu Talents From the East – a showcase of standout documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe that are in post-production – has been unveiled.

Eight documentary projects will be presented on Aug. 13 at Sarajevo Film Festival. The event is part of CineLink Industry Day, the festival’s program for film and TV professionals.

The most promising project will receive the Docu Talent Award in cooperation with Current Time TV. The award is accompanied by a cash prize of $5,000. The DAFilms.com Distribution Award will cover services worth €3,000, including an international VOD release on DAFilms.com for two years. The awards ceremony will take place on Aug. 13 at Sarajevo Producers’ Hub.
