‘Werewolf Game’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Tony Todd, Robert Picardo, Bai Ling, Lydia Hearst, Teala Dunn, Cara Claymore, Tim Realbuto, James Crittenden, Tabitha Jane | Written by Jackie Payne | Directed by Cara Claymore, Jackie Payne

Adapted from the adult party game of social deduction, created by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986, Werewolf Game is a death-game, horror mystery film. Twelve kidnapped strangers must play a game where they vote on who amongst them to murder. At night, the “werewolves” hidden among them come out to brutally kill one of the 12 “villagers” in return. The days repeat until one winning group remains.

Werewolf Game, directed by Cara Claymore and Jackie Payne, is an ambitious concept for a writing/directing duo who don’t have a ton of experience under their collective belts and whilst that does show, they deserve kudos for getting this feature greenlit and over the line, all with an absolute horror icon on board in what...

Bobcat Moretti Review: A Fight Worth Watching
Image
They call it Bobcat Moretti, a compelling drama exploring how one man rediscovers meaning in life. Director Rob Margolies is at the helm, bringing the story of Tim Realbuto’s Bobby Moretti to the screen.

Fresh from theater roles, Realbuto steps into the boxing ring, portraying an Ms patient taking up his late father’s sport. Joined by gems like Vivica A. Fox as gym owner Jo, Moretti seeks her guidance after tragedy strikes. Now overweight and broken, can boxing provide a path to salvation?

Over a year of filming allowed Realbuto’s stunning physical transformation—losing over 150 pounds—to embody Bobby’s journey. More than a sports movie, Margolies examines how we overcome personal challenges and find purpose, even in our darkest hours.

The Ring of Renewal

We meet Bobby Moretti in the aftermath of a tragedy. Diagnosed with Ms and overweight, his health spirals after losing someone close.

Bobcat Moretti review – heartfelt boxing underdog tale goes down the signpost route
Tim Realbuto
Despite evident passion from the film-makers, this personal transformation through sporting achievement story borders on parody

Traditionally, genre labels gave a broad sense of what kind of experience you might be in for, whether horror, comedy or action. In the streaming era, things are much more specific, with platforms such as Netflix offering ever more niche microgenres: “Cynical Comedies Featuring a Strong Female Lead” for example, or “Classic Feelgood Opposites-Attract Movies”. Bobcat Moretti feels tailor-made for this kind of categorisation. Here we have an “Inspirational Personal Transformation Following Tragic Life Event Sports Movie”, in which a man with multiple sclerosis takes up boxing as part of an effort to turn his life around after a horrific family tragedy.

The passion and commitment of the film-makers are evident. Starring as the eponymous Bobcat, Tim Realbuto also co-wrote the script (with director Rob Margolies) and lost 70kg (11st) during the course of making the film.

Alongside Parnell, Buono and Hasbert, the film also features Willow Shields (‘’The Hunger Games’’) as their risk-taking Gen-z daughter, and Illeana Douglas (“Grace of My Heart”) as Lyle and Holly’s eccentric confidante Ethel.
