Is Evan Buckley paying a visit to Music City this fall? A recent Instagram story posted by Oliver Stark has convinced fans of the first-responder franchise that a crossover between 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville is imminent.

“6 Nashville Miles for breakfast,” Stark posted over the weekend on a video of himself running along the city streets, adding a smirking devil emoji for good measure. See a screenshot below:

Sierra McClain Reunites With 9-1-1: Lone Star Co-Stars After Grace's Divisive Absence In The Fox Procedural's Final Season
Image
9-1-1: Lone Star actress Sierra McClain reunites with co-stars four months after the Fox procedural ended. The popular 9-1-1 spinoff show ran from 2020-2025, and was a strong companion piece to its original sister show. The cancellation of 9-1-1: Lone Star meant that the show's fifth season would be its final one, but McClain would not return for season 5 following the breakdown of her contract re-negotiations. Grace's character was written out, with the explanation being that she is volunteering at Mercy Ships.

As shared by the Roster Con X account, McClain is pictured posing and reconnecting with former 9-1-1: Lone Star cast members Ronen Rubenstein, who played T.K., Rafael L. Silva, who portrayed Carlos Reyes, and Jim Parrack, who played her on-screen husband, Judd Ryder. The four then sat together as part of a group panel for 9-1-1: Lone Star...

How Grace’s ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Ending Inspired Sierra McClain’s New Project
Image
When Sierra McClain didn’t return for 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s fifth and final season, Grace’s absence was explained by her being off with Mercy Ships, which operates hospital ships that deliver free surgeries and healthcare services to those with little access to safe medical care. Now, that’s inspired McClain’s newest project. Mercy Ships has partnered with McClain to create a new seven-day devotional audio series, Moments of Purpose, for Glorify. McClain will narrate the series, which launches on June 23, and guide listeners through reflections on finding deeper faith, discovering purpose, and stepping into the life God has planned for you. “After learning more about Mercy Ships, I was introduced to the impactful stories of the volunteers who work aboard their ships in Western & Central Africa,” said McClain in a statement. “Also heavily inspired by my own spiritual ...

Rob Lowe Says He's 'Just Waiting' To Reprise 9-1-1 Role in Spinoff Series
Image
Hollywood icon Rob Lowe is open to returning to the 9-1-1 franchise. However, the actor says he will have to check with his brother, Chad Lowe, who works on the series.

Speaking via Deadline, Lowe addressed a potential return to his iconic role as Captain Owen Strand in the upcoming 9-1-1: Nashville spinoff series. "Well, I'll have to ask Chad Lowe, my brother. See, all my family are gatekeepers to my own future business now," he joked. "Chad Lowe is the executive producer and director of 9-1-1: Nashville. And so I'm just waiting for my phone to ring.I mean, you know, I hired him on Lone Star. I think turnabout is fair play."

Lowe previously starred as Captain Owen Strand of Fire Station 126 in Austin, Texas throughout the entirety of9-1-1: Lone Star's five-season run. A spinoff of the main 9-1-1 series, the show maintained the...

Bathena Was the Backbone of 9-1-1, And They Broke It — Why I’ll Never Forgive Them
Image
For the second time in this television viewing season, I’ve found myself mourning the loss of an incredibly powerful, inspiring, rare love story.

It’s not often that love stories grab me that much, even though I’ve come to appreciate romance more over the years (or at least be more forthcoming with myself and others about how much I enjoy a constantly denigrated genre), but I digress.

Right now, I’m reeling from the loss of one of my favorite television couples: 9-1-1’s Bathena.

(Disney/Chris Willard)

There’s nothing I love more than older characters getting a second chance at love. Too often, television and film restrict love to young people, as if somehow, as we get older, we lose out on finding real love again.

When you think about that, it’s incredibly bleak, but it’s also just patently untrue.

This is one of...

You Don’t Get to Destroy Them Just Because They’re Gone: Character Assassination & The Fate Worse Than Death
Image
Do you ever randomly think about something and get angry all over again as if it’s a fresh wound?

Because that’s what it’s like when thinking about the character assassination of some of your favorite characters. Some things are impossible to get over, and that’s high up on the list.

It hasn’t been that long since 9-1-1: Lone Star signed off with its final season, but one thing still weighs heavily on a girl’s mind: the frustrating destruction of Grace Ryder.

(NBC/Virgina Sherwood, Fox/Jordin Althaus) Tampering with Lasting Legacy

I’m sorry if this is a dead horse, but I’m about to beat it because I still cannot get over how 9-1-1: Lone Star wrote out Grace Ryder.

The issue is that the final season of this 9-1-1 spinoff was so disappointing that it felt almost...

9-1-1 Moves to Another State With New Spinoff Officially Ordered at ABC
Image
The hit series 9-1-1: Lone Star recently came to an end, but the franchise will be moving forward with another spinoff series to fill the empty void that's created. This time, the show will be focusing on emergency responders working in Tennessee.

Per Deadline, it's been revealed that a new show, 9-1-1: Nashville, is coming to ABC for the 2025-26 season. It was previously reported that a new 9-1-1 offshoot was in development, though details weren't confirmed about its location. Currently, no information is known about the plot of the new series beyond its setting in Nashville, and no cast members have been announced. It can be presumed that a team of first responders will be at the heart of the story.

Seven 911: Lone Star actors the One Chicago franchise should poach
Image
With 911: Lone Star coming to an end, there are a few stars of that show that would be great jumping to the One Chicago universe!

911: Lone Star fans are let down that the show has come to an end after five seasons. Its last run of episodes was good, and it closed out, giving all the characters a warm exit that had them stepping into great new lives. There’s a question now of what’s next for the actors and how the One Chicago universe offers them some good options.

Rob Lowe and Gina Torres are unlikely to come on board given their bigger name status and more in demand. However, it’d be great if One Chicago could poach some of the other actors. Even better would be casting them in different roles than their 911: Lone Star ones to stand out. These are the best...

9-1-1: Lone Star Quietly Set Itself Up for Failure Long Before the Finale Aired
Image
The following contains spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 12, "Homecoming," which debuted Monday, Feb. 3 on Fox.

9-1-1: Lone Star premiered in 2020 on Fox in what may be the first of many more 9-1-1 spinoffs to come. Three years later, both 9-1-1 and Lone Star were canceled by Fox due to "the changing economics of the TV business." While the original series starring Angela Bassett and Peter Krause found a new home with ABC and is still going strong in its eighth season, Lone Star wasn't so lucky. The series was never picked up by another network, and had to officially close shop in Season 5.

Rumors of Lone Star being canceled had already been circulating for some time. Sierra McClain, who played Grace Ryder since the pilot episode, chose not to return to the series in mid-2024 after contract negotiation issues. It would be...

Where Every 9-1-1 Lone Star Character Ends Up in the Series Finale
Image
The following contains spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 12, "Homecoming," which debuted Monday, Feb. 3 on Fox.

It's the end of the road for the characters of 9-1-1: Lone Star. While long-time cast member Sierra McClain left the series ahead of Season 5, every other main cast member stayed to the very end. The threat of an asteroid hitting Texas left the fates of the characters up in the air, but Lone Star gave them another day to keep saving lives.

The 9-1-1: Lone Star series finale continues where the penultimate episode left off by following other parts of Austin, Texas in the hour prior to the asteroid crash. A nuclear reactor at a university is at risk of a meltdown when a piece of the asteroid hits campus, and the call center experiences a communication failure that leaves 9-1-1 inoperable. Meanwhile, the firefighters and paramedics (Tommy included) jump straight into action despite technical difficulties,...

'9-1-1: Lone Star' Should've Killed Owen Off, There I Said It!
Image
When it was announced that the fifth season of 9-1-1: Lone Starwould also be its last, rumors started flying that not every character would survive. Castmember Sierra McClain exited the series before Season 5 even started, but surely on a show with such life-and-death stakes, there would be at least one dramatic death in the finale, right? Well, the series finale aired this week on Fox, and the entire 126 Firehouse made it to the end unscathed. However, I'm not so sure that's a good thing.

'9-1-1: Lone Star's Showrunner Reveals the Cut Line that Would Have Changed the Show's Ending
Image
Sierra McClain exited 9-1-1: Lone Star before Season 5 — the final season — went into production. The exit was abrupt and unexpected, stemming from failed salary negotiations with the studio. The show had to pivot and change some storylines to accommodate this exit. The Season 5 premiere revealed that Grace had joined a charity mission. "I had gotten some suggestions and pressure to kill her off so that it could just be simple, but I just thought that that wasn't the right way to do it," co-showrunner Rashad Raisani revealed to ScreenRant. Keeping her alive allowed the show to reference her in the story, and as the show ended, it was revealed that she was still on her mission. However, that was not the original plan. Raisani revealed he cut a line from the series finale that would have set up Grace's return, saying:...

“9-1-1: Lone Star” Finale Delivers Hope Amid Catastrophe, Creators Say
Rob Lowe and Gina Torres in 9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
Fox’s popular drama “9-1-1: Lone Star” concluded its run Monday night with a series finale that defied typical television conventions, blending massive disaster scenarios with hopeful character resolutions.

The episode featured a dramatic backdrop of an asteroid strike and nuclear threat in Austin, yet ultimately provided optimistic endings for the show’s main characters. Executive Producer Rashad Raisani intentionally designed the finale to leave viewers with a sense of hope.

“I wanted people to leave with a sense of hope,” Raisani explained. “It’s sad enough that the show is ending, in my opinion, too soon. Why punch people in the stomach on their way out the door?”

Key character arcs found meaningful closure. Tommy Vega (Gina Torres) emerged from her breast cancer battle in remission, with a touching scene featuring her late husband Charles (Derek Webster). Paramedic Mateo (Julian Works) received fast-tracked citizenship after heroic actions during the crisis,...

Despite Austin being hit with both an asteroid and a nuclear disaster on Monday night’s “9-1-1: Lone Star” series finale, all of the main characters walked away with their lives.

The Ryders’ Unraveling: Why Grace’s Exit Fails 9-1-1: Lone Star in Its Final Season
Image
Judd and Grace Ryder were the brightest lights on 9-1-1: Lone Star.

The pair was easily one of television’s greatest depictions of a married couple. Yet, due to many circumstances, 9-1-1: Lone Star’s final season has not appeased viewers in this area.

We wondered what a Grace-less season for this fiery series might look like, and the reality is bleak.

(Kevin Estrada/Fox) No Matter How You Slice It, Grace’s Exit Makes No Sense

It’s hard for a series to develop characters, but that’s especially true when they are beloved.

We always knew there would be no easy way to write out Grace Ryder when the news broke that Sierra McClain wouldn’t return for the final season.

(Kevin Estrada/Fox)

The writers had their work cut out for them, and so much of the issue was finding a way to...

9-1-1: Lone Star Rushes Through Its Season 5 Midseason Premiere
Image
The following contains spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 10, "All Who Wander," which debuted Monday, Jan. 20 on Fox. It also contains a mention of suicide.

While 9-1-1 is finding a rise in popularity on ABC, its only spinoff -- at the moment -- is feeling left in the Texan dust. 9-1-1 Lone Star is preparing for its series finale, but is there any indication that the end is really near? For one character, it absolutely is, but for others, how their stories are going to wrap up is a guessing game, based on the events of Season 5, Episode 10, "All Who Wander."

'9-1-1: Lone Star's Jim Parrack Reacts to [Spoiler's] Dramatic Exit
Image
9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 would be dealt several blows before it was made. Not only was the season delayed by external factors, but it was also the final one, and it suffered a significant cast exit. Sierra McClain left the show before the fifth season, forcing the creatives to pivot storylines and integrate that exit as best as possible. However, the loss was noticeable, and to none more than Jim Parrack, who had shared many scenes with McClain because they played a couple. McClain's exit led to her character being written out in a way that affected her husband and family, something the show has been exploring in the final season. Parrack talked to Variety about this exit, how it affected the story, and his work on the show.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’: Jim Parrack & Natacha Karam Tease How Series Finale Ends

“Here’s to the 126.” That’s Jim Parrack‘s tease for how 9-1-1: Lone Star ends its series finale (airing February 3). There are only two episodes (including said finale) left of the Fox first responder drama, and the 126 is going to have its hands full with an asteroid heading for Austin. “We weren’t going to end happy. It’s Lone Star. You got a wedding and Grace [Sierra McClain] called [Judd]. You’ve got to know it’s going downhill from there. You know the whiplash now. Nothing short of an asteroid, then when the asteroid’s done, nuclear — that’s all I’m going to say,” Natacha Karam points out to TV Insider with a laugh. “It goes from bad to worse to worse before you can finally maybe feel that it gets better.” She promises “a lot of teamwork” in the end of the show. “If the ship’s going down,...

TV Insider has learned exclusively that Speight Jr. is guest starring in 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s midseason premiere, “All Who Wander,” on January 20. We also have a first-look photo, which you can check out above, of him in character. Speight Jr. plays Reverend Phil, who leads the faith-based sobriety group Judd (Jim Parrack) has been attending the past month along with Owen’s (Rob Lowe) support. However, both Owen and the Reverend suspect Judd has been lying about his sobriety – and it may take an actual miracle to set him back on his path. It was in the midseason finale in December that Owen realized that Judd has been drinking to cope with his wife Grace’s absence; she’s volunteering with Mercy Ships. Only 1 Fox show was canceled in 2024 (but another was announced as ending)
Image
It’s rare that almost every single show makes it through to another season, especially when it comes to Fox. And yet, only one series was canceled in 2024.

Of course, it wasn’t all good news. Fox did end up announcing that another series would come to an end. Yet, the decision to only cancel one show was a surprise to many, as we got ready for some mass cancellations by the network.

The Fox show canceled in 2024

Fox decided to cancel HouseBroken after two seasons. This was somewhat of a surprise, as it’s rare now that the network will cancel its animated comedy. Animation Domination is a huge marketing part of Sunday nights on the network, continuing to hold steady in the ratings even when the football disrupts things.

HouseBroken was a comedy series that gave us a look at human behavior through the eyes of animals. Have...

9-1-1: Lone Star Can Vilify Grace After Sierra McClain's Exit
Image
Many were concerned about how 9-1-1: Lone Star would handle Sierra McClain's exit in season 5, and, unfortunately, her character's absence has led to some problems that could make Grace the villain. The Fox procedural drama TV show created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear is a spinoff of 9-1-1. It premiered in January 2020 and follows a group of first responders living in Austin, Texas, including McClain's Grace, who has been around since season 1.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 returns in 2025 with its final three episodes, starting on Monday, January 20, at 8 pm Et on Fox. Its series finale will air on February 3.

Unfortunately, McClain's Grace left 9-1-1: Lone Star in season 5 as the actress decided to exit the series. So, the writers had to figure out a way to write Grace out in a way that would satisfy the audience and...

Why Sierra McClain's Grace Left 9-1-1 Lone Star In Season 5
Image
A few months ahead of the 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 premiere, it was announced that Sierra McClain wouldn't be reprising her role as Grace Ryder in the show's final episodes. McClain had been a part of the 9-1-1: Lone Star cast since its first season. So, the news of her leaving the Fox procedural drama TV series was shocking, to say the least. McClain's character, Grace, also had many responsibilities and connections to other characters in 9-1-1: Lone Star, which made her exit difficult to navigate.

The speculation of whether 9-1-1: Lone Star would end after season 5 ran rampant in the months leading up to its premiere. After 9-1-1's move to ABC, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before its spinoff got canceled (or potentially moved to a different network or streaming service). Unfortunately, Fox canceled 9-1-1: Lone Star a few...

Gone But Not Forgotten: Biggest Character Departures of 2024
Image
We had to say goodbye to plenty of characters in 2024.

Some of them we’ll miss terribly, while others we may not quite as much. The year saw plenty of characters depart series, some in thoughtful and meaningful ways, others with satisfying conclusions to their arcs, others tragically, and many downright puzzling.

We’ve compiled a list of characters who may officially be gone but far from forgotten. Check it out!

Grace Ryder – 9-1-1: Lone Star (Kevin Estrada/Fox)

Not only did 9-1-1 Lone Star fans have to reel from the news that the series’ fifth season would be its last one, but we also learned that Sierra McClain, who played beloved Grace Ryder, wouldn’t return for it.

It felt like an impossible feat to write out a character who was genuinely the heart of the series, and frankly, the final season has struggled with doing it convincingly.

Why Was 9-1-1: Lone Star Canceled?
Image
This article briefly mentions the topic of suicide.

Set in Austin, Texas, Fox's 9-1-1: Lone Star follows the firefighters and paramedics at Firehouse 126, led by Fire Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) and Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres). Strand relocated from New York City to Austin after the 126 experienced a terrible tragedy, losing all of their men except one -- Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack), who is married to former 9-1-1 dispatcher Grace Ryder (Sierra McClain). Strand also brought his son, T.K. Strand (Ronen Rubenstein), to Austin, and he joined the 126 first as a firefighter and then as a paramedic. Other members of the 126 include paramedic Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker) and firefighters Mateo Chavez (Julian Works), Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), and Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam). Rounding out the main characters is Carlos Reyes (Rafael L. Silva), an Austin police officer turned Texas Ranger who is married to T.

Could we see the 911: Lone Star characters in a spin-off? (Don't count on it)
Image
Fans of 911: Lone Star are hopeful the characters may make their way to other 911 shows but there's some bad news on that front!

911: Lone Star fans have had a tricky time as of late. Season 4 ended in May 2023, with plans for Season 5 put off when the 2023 Hollywood strikes happened. When the strikes ended, rather than a shortened season, Fox decided to simply hold the show off until fall 2024.

Then a wrinkle hit when Sierra McClain announced she was leaving the series with her character Grace written out and changing a storyline for Jim Parrack's Judd. Then Fox confirmed speculation that Season 5 would be the last one.

The franchise will continue with the mothership 911 on ABC and there are plans for a spinoff. That has fans eager to know if any characters can jump to said spinoff. However, speaking to TVLine, co-showrunner Rashad Raisani said that may be beyond his control.

911: Lone Star boss explains changes in Judd due to Sierra McClain's exit
Image
911: Lone Star fans are surprised at the new plotline with Judd which turns out to be because of a huge cast exit!

Caution: This article contains Spoilers for 911: Lone Star Season 5

911: Lone Star fans were already upset to learn that Season 5 would be the last for the Fox spinoff. It got worse when it was announced Sierra McClain would not be returning for it. Her marriage to firefighter Judd (Jim Parrack) was one of the highlights of the show. It also made little sense narratively as Judd had just quit the 126 and was raising paralyzed son Wyatt (Jackson Pace).

The season premiere explained Grace had been moved to join a missionary group with Judd seemingly supportive of it. Helping the team in an emergency had Judd returning to the 126 but now as a probie.

The midseason finale had Owen (Rob Lowe) surprised to be offered...

Lone Star's Intense Final Tragedy Is Ruined By 9-1-1
Image
9-1-1: Lone Star is heading into its final episodes, and although its last major disaster is quite intriguing, it's completely negated by 9-1-1's existence. The Fox procedural drama, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, is a spinoff to the series 9-1-1 (which aired on Fox for six seasons before moving to ABC for its seventh and eighth seasons). Unfortunately, 9-1-1: Lone Star is ending after season 5 in 2025, while 9-1-1 is alive and thriving on ABC as it's in the midst of airing season 8.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 returns on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 8 pm Et on Fox, while 9-1-1 season 8 is set to return a few months later, on Thursday, March 6, at 8 pm Et on ABC.

For 9-1-1: Lone Star's final season, the characters have undergone many changes. Most notably, Sierra McClain's Grace exited ahead of the season 5 premiere, which has significantly affected her husband,...

9-1-1: Lone Star Showrunner Breaks Down Midseason Finale's Shocking Betrayal
Image
This article contains spoilers from 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 9, "Fall From Grace."

9-1-1: Lone Star wrapped its five-season run by revealing that Chief Bridges (Alan Autry) killed Gabriel Reyes (Benito Martinez) and set up Ranger Campbell (Parker Young) to take the fall. Executive producer Rashad Raisani recently explained why Bridges was the perfect character to carry out the ultimate betrayal.

"We knew that the betrayal had to hit as close to home as possible because the person Carlos trusted the most would be the only person who could have kept it from him this long," Raisani told Screen Rant. "And frankly, we also wanted somebody of Alan Autry's gravitas. He was the only person capable of pulling the wool over Gabriel's eyes also."

‘9-1-1 Lone Star’ Showrunner Reveals the Initial Plan for Judd & Grace in Final Season
Image
Before Sierra McClain shocked the world with her exit from 9-1-1: Lone Star ahead of Season 5, there was a different plan in the works for her character and Judd (Jim Parrack), her onscreen husband. Currently in its ninth episode, the final season of the procedural has seen Judd give in to his demons with no Grace, “the stabilizing force in his life,” there to hold him down.

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Is About To Make Grace's Frustrating Exit So Much More Upsetting
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5, episode 9, "Fall From Grace."

Even though many things were going on in the 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 finale, one of the standout moments concerned Judd and how he had been dealing with Grace's frustrating exit. As many know, Sierra McClain, who began playing Grace in season 1 of the Fox procedural drama, exited the series ahead of season 5 (reportedly due to contract negotiations). So, the writers had to cut Grace from the final season's story. Unfortunately, though, Grace's 9-1-1: Lone Star exit was so disappointing, thanks to one glaring issue, and the fall finale surely didn't fix the character's upsetting departure.

Following the season 5 fall finale, 9-1-1: Lone Star is going on a seven-week hiatus before returning on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 8 pm Et on Fox. Then, only one episode remains until...

As for why he turned to the bottle to solve his problems, it all began after Grace’s (Sierra McClain) departure, leaving Judd a huge mess. 9-1-1: Lone Star’s Judson "Judd" Ryder (Jim Parrack) hasn’t been his best self ever since his wife Grace Ryder (Sierra McClain) left. As fans know, McClain exited the procedural drama ahead of the fifth and final season, reportedly due to a contract and pay dispute. With that, fans sadly had to bid her character goodbye, including her onscreen husband, Judd, who took up drinking to numb the pain of not having her around.

9-1-1: Lone Star Showrunner Explains The Shocking Betrayal In Season 5's Fall Finale
Image
Warning: This article contains Spoilers from 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5, episode 9.

The fall finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star finally reveals the identity of Gabriel Reyes' killer, and it's different from who viewers were led to believe. Carlos is warned not to trust Ranger Campbell at the end of season 5, episode 8, and all signs point to Parker Young's character being the culprit. When Chief Bridges discovers that he accessed confidential case files without authorization, Carlos' suspicions are further confirmed. Campbell runs when confronted at his son's birthday party, but the team eventually tracks him down.

However, while being directed to kill his partner, Carlos states that there is one other person with access to the CIs. Bridges shoots him in response, admitting that he murdered Gabriel and set up Campbell. Before the Chief can finish him off, another shot is fired, and Carlos turns to see...
