Lena Dunham Makes Rare Appearance After Stepping Back From Hollywood After Constant Body-Shaming
Image
Lena Dunham was seen for the first time in seven months at the Trans Day of Visibility rally in Washington, D.C. on March 31.

Multiple other public figures spoke at the rally, including Maxwell Frost, Summer Lee and Katherine Clark, who all took to the stage to speak in support of trans rights and condemn the new laws put in place by the Trump administration. The rally was hosted by the Christopher Street Project, a group that launched in January to advocate for transgender individuals.

Dunham has not been seen since September 2024. She previously cited incessant body-shaming as a reason she was taking a step back from the industry.

In connection, Dunham’s upcoming semi-autobiographical series Too Much will star Megan Stalter as Dunham.

In July 2024, Dunham told The New Yorker, “I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around [my HBO series Girls] at this point in my life…...

Philanthropist Liz Hirsh Naftali Talks About New Political Podcast, Advocacy For Her Great Niece And Other Hamas-Held Hostages And Why There Is “Nothing There” In GOP Hunter Biden Queries
Image
Liz Hirsh Naftali, the Los Angeles-based commercial real estate investor and philanthropist, has taken on a high-profile role in recent weeks as an advocate for the release of her great niece, held hostage by Hamas, as well as others still held captive.

The high profile Democratic donor, who also has been in the spotlight as House Republicans investigate Hunter Biden, also has launched a new podcast.

After hosting many fundraising events, she keyed in on a new idea, a podcast that will help “democratize our politicians,” with the latest episode of The Capitol Coffee Connection featuring former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“My goal was to make it that you could get to learn who they were without having to pay, and you could be in your home or anywhere and learn about all of these leaders” Naftali told Deadline.

She added, “What happened was, when I was doing these events,...

Inside the Left’s Last Push to Save Itself
Image
When Summer Lee survived her Democratic primary for an open Pittsburgh-area House seat in May, her allies breathed a sigh of relief. Progressive candidates had been struggling to win Democratic primaries as the pro-Israel lobby bombarded them with millions of dollars’ worth of attack ads, eager to punish left-flank candidates for sympathizing with Palestine, Lee, who endured a more than 3 million blitz in her deep-blue district, suffered more than anyone. Her primary victory was supposed to put the stiff competition and dark money to bed — and deliver Lee to Congress.

Meet the Young Progressives About to Join the Squad
Image
“This is the point in the interview when they ask if we’re gonna join the Squad.”

Summer Lee, a Democratic congressional candidate running for a Pittsburgh-area seat, stirred the straw in her ice water as she let her remark hang in a basement bar in Washington’s Logan Circle neighborhood on the last Tuesday in July. She surveyed two fellow soon-to-be House progressives across our hightop: Greg Casar, running to serve a deep-blue gerrymandered strip between Austin and San Antonio, and Delia Ramirez, a candidate for a similarly safe western Chicago seat,...

Summer Lee Is Coming to Congress — and to The Squad
Image
Summer Lee, a progressive Pennsylvania state house member, won Tuesday’s Democratic primary for Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district. Her primary victory in the deep-blue Pittsburgh district all but guarantees she’s headed to Congress next year to join fellow left-wing lawmakers — and, very likely, the Squad.

34-year-old Lee first won her statehouse seat in 2018 as part of a wave of progressive, diverse, younger candidates who unseated longtime incumbents, winning in the same fashion as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-n.Y.) did at the federal level. Lee supports the typical slate of left-wing priorities,...

LeVar Burton
LeVar Burton Fans Want Him to Host 'Jeopardy!' Full Time: 'A Natural'
LeVar Burton
LeVar Burton hosted "Jeopardy!" Monday night, and his performance as quizmaster prompted fans of the show to say that he should be the quiz show's permanent host.

Burton, a veteran actor, former "Reading Rainbow" host and star in "Star Trek," will be the "Jeopardy!" guest host for the next week. He taped his episodes several months ago, which spurred some considerable hype leading up to it. Burton had been gunning for the spot of at least guest host on "Jeopardy!" for some time now as well. He signed a fan petition to make him the show's next host in 2013 and said three years ago that "there is only one game show I’ve ever wanted to host... This Is Jeopardy!"

"Jeopardy!" has been without a permanent host since the beloved emcee -- and host of 37 seasons since 1984 -- Alex Trebek passed away last November. The show has rotated through guest...
