After numerous delays, Well Go USA’s Cut Throat City is finally making its debut — and in theaters. Yes, you heard that right. The RZA-directed crime drama will make its way into select theaters starting today as they slowly start to open their doors across the country.

“Well Go is a supporter of the traditional theatrical window and when we initially read the script a couple years ago we truly envisioned Cut Throat City as a wide theatrical release,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President & CEO, Well Go USA. “It is a socially relevant film that we feel needs to be seen on the big screen. We also want to help support the cinemas as best we can in bringing life back to their business.”

She added, “Obviously, safety is an important part of reopening but we do feel that the cinemas are taking every precaution to make us all and the environment feel safe.

Originally set to open in theaters April, the RZA-directed heist drama Cut Throat City is now slated for a limited theatrical release on July 17. Well Go USA and Patriot Pictures announced today that the film will hit 300 screens across the U.S. following its initial cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Demetrius Shipp Jr., Denzel Whitaker, Isaiah Washington, Kat Graham, Keean Johnson, Shameik Moore, and Tip T.I. Harris star in the film along with Eiza González, Ethan Hawke, Terrence Howard, and Wesley Snipes. Written by P.G. Cuschieri, the plot follows four boyhood friends in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward who return after Hurricane Katrina to find their homes decimated, with no jobs and no help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Out of options, they reluctantly turn to a local gangster, who offers them one shot at turning their situations around – by pulling off a dangerous heist...

We Summon the Darkness trailer teases the heavy metal horror, which stars Alexandra Daddario. The movie premiered at Fantastic Fest last year and is hitting VOD, along with Digital HD on April 10th. The horror comedy looks like the laugh we could all use at the moment. It's light hearted with a ton of gore and 1980s heavy metal. What could be better than that? Horror fans have been waiting to see the movie ever since it was first announced back in 2018.

It was announced today that Four-time Oscar-nominated actor Ethan Hawke has signed on the New Orleans-set heist movie Cut Throat City, directed by RZA (of the Wu Tang Clan). The film also stars Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes, Eiza Gonz&#225lez, Kat Graham, Tip "T.I." Harris, Joel David Moore, Isiah Washington, Keean Johnson, Sam Daly, Denzel Whitaker, Rob Morgan, Rich Paul, Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Shameik Moore. Well Go USA preemptively acquired North American rights earlier this year for the picture for a nationwide theatrical release in 2019. Xyz Films is handling international sales.

Brandon Sklenar has been cast in Midway, the Roland Emmerich-helmed WWII drama starring Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, and Nick Jonas. Wes Tooke wrote the script for the film, which is based on the true story of the Battle of Midway, considered to be the turning point in the war against Japan in WWII. Sklenar will play George ‘Tex’ Gay Jr., who was the sole survivor of the 30-aircrew that participated in the pivotal Battle of Midway. Emmerich’s Centropolis Entertainment and Harald Kloser are producing the pic, with Mark Gordon exec producing. The film will be released on Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label on November 8, 2019. The first trailer for Cut Throat City has landed. This is the latest from RZA, the Wu-Tang Clan member turned director. He was on hand at San Diego Comic-Con to debut the trailer to a big crowd and it marks a major departure from his previous directorial efforts. This looks like a gritty crime drama through and through without an ounce of tongue-in-cheek or martial arts to be found.

The cast for the movie includes Shameik Moore, Wesley Snipes, Demetrius Shipp Jr., Denzel Whitaker, Keean Johnson, Kat Graham, and Tyron Woodley, who were all on hand and on stage with RZA to introduce the footage at Sdcc. T.I. and Terrence Howard are also part of the ensemble but they couldn't make the trip to San Diego for the event. Artimage Entertainment, founded by producers Kyle Tekiela and Carl Effenson, and the Atlanta-based Grey Hawk Productions have launched a new six-figure development fund to finance a slate of gritty dramas and thriller feature films.

"We thought this was the perfect time to come together and create something impactful, to put some movies together," says Tekiela, who has known Rebecca Schaper, CEO of Gray Hawk Productions, for several years.

For their 9th annual edition, the Atlanta Underground Film Festival will be assaulting the south from its Goat Farm Arts Center screening center on Sep. 13-16 with four days and nights of independent feature films, shorts and documentaries.

Some of the feature films screening include Lisa Duva’s multi-dimensional Cat Scratch Fever, Jason Lapeyre’s thriller Cold Blooded and Brady Hall’s hilariously named Hello, My Name Is Dick Licker.

This year’s Auff is also packed to the gills with short films with multiple blocks of shorts screening per day. Some of the special ones to look out for are Neil Ira Needleman‘s A Few Words in Favor of God, Jim Haverkamp‘s When Walt Whitman Was a Little Girl and Mike Salva‘s award-winning animated short Pound Dogs.
