Voyage to the Stars is a bonafide podcast phenomenon starring Colton Dunn (Superstore), Felicia Day (Supernatural), Janet Varney (Legend of Korra), Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds), and Steve Berg (Drunk History)! With 2.5 million downloads in its debut year and over 100,000 viewers on Twitch, the wild sci-fi podcast is now available in comic form… I’ll be honest, I had never even heard of the podcast on which this comic is based but seeing the name Felicia Day attached usually is a sign that I’ll enjoy the product; and that’s certainly the case here.

The plot here is pretty simple. Earth is gone and only one intrepid crew of misfits managed to escape. A crew who is now determined and ambiguously destined to stop a growing, ancient evil from consuming the universe.

Where’s the Dude when you need him? Bowling alley-set directorial debut would score with more laughs and more feeling

Straight out of film school, aged 22, while her peers were off interning, Kendall Goldberg directed her feature debut, this offbeat, earnest movie about a quarter-life crisis (released in the US in 2018). That’s an undeniably impressive achievement, and the film has some interesting ideas about overparenting and how grown-up kids can buckle under the pressure of Mum and Dad’s expectations. But otherwise it feels a bit generic – shuffling the pack of quirky indie movie cliches, not quite funny enough to be a comedy but with too little authentic emotion to work as drama.

Jon Heder plays Jeff, the manager of Winky’s World, a bowling alley so poorly maintained that it’s acquired a kind of retro-chic. Jeff is an underachiever, a computer science graduate who takes medication for depression and anxiety.

Adult animated comedy “Hoops” has been canceled at Netflix after just one season, Variety has learned exclusively.

The show premiered on the streamer on Aug. 21. Per an individual with knowledge of the decision to end the series, Netflix looks at a show’s viewership versus its cost and decided not to proceed with Season 2.

Jake Johnson starred as a hot-headed, foul-mouthed high school basketball coachwho thinks turning around his god awful team will take him to the “big leagues” and turn his miserable life around.

The show also starred Ron Funches, Cleo King, Natasha Leggero, A.D. Miles, Steve Berg, Rob Riggle, and Sam Richardson. It also featured the voices of Nick Swardson, Eric Edelstein, Mary Holland, Gil Ozeri, and Max Greenfield.

Ben Hoffman created the series and served as executive producer in addition to voicing the character Time Bomb. Phil Lord and Chris Miller also executive produced along with Johnson and Seth Cohen.

Comedian Paul F. Tompkins, “Criminal Minds” actress Kirsten Vangsness and Angela Kinsey from “The Office” have joined the voice cast for Season 2 of the sci-fi comedy podcast “Voyage to the Stars.”

Set in the year 2263, “Voyage to the Stars” follows a misfit space crew tasked to investigate what lurks behind a wormhole. The crew is voiced by Colton Dunn (“Superstore”), Felicia Day (“The Guild”), Janet Varney and Steve Berg (“The Good Place.”)

Season 2 is currently in production and is set to come out in early fall.

Felicia Day has made the most of every small screen storytelling medium, from her breakout web series The Guild and the Whedon brothers’ Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog to conventional television appearances on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, and The Magicians. Jon Heder, who is best known for his role in Napoleon Dynamite, stars in a new film coming out called When Jeff Tried To Save The World. The thing is, he’s not literally trying to save the world. He’s trying to save the bowling alley that he manages called Winky’s World from closing down.

Trafalgar Releasing has reported more than $3.5 million in box office revenue in one day for the Coldplay documentary “A Head Full of Dreams” from director Mat Whitecross.

Trafalgar said the film sold more than 300,000 tickets in over 70 countries worldwide and across 2,650 movie theaters on Nov. 14. It was the no. 1 title in the Netherlands, no. 2 in the UK, Australia and Italy and no. 5 in the Us.

The release was in collaboration with Coldplay’s management team at Warner Music, Parlophone and Dave Holmes Management. The film showcases live performances and backstage footage from the global stadium tour A Head Full of Dreams, alongside archive material captured over 20 years.

One of their particular skills has been finding talented stars and writers of webseries and giving them a bigger platform, and it is from the latter that their new series Idiotsitter emerges. The brainchild of comedians Charlotte Newhouse and Jillian Bell, the series thrives on strong comedic performances, and shows a lot of potential depending on how well it can navigate the trickiness of its central conceit.

Sounds like an ear catching anecdote, but in reality that’s the line that started Jake Johnson (New Girl, Jurassic World) and Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies, Happy Christmas) down the road which eventually led to Digging for Fire, a film that garnered a 2015 Sundance Film Festival premiere. Park City, Utah – There are still some films to be discussed in my Sundance coverage. Here’s write-ups of “Digging for Fire,” “Entertainment,” and “Results,” which featured the return of festival-approved directors, albeit heading in different directions.

At this year’s festival, two maestros of the ol’ mumblecore days stepped into the big-time spotlight with their new films that boasted their biggest casts and fanciest films yet. The first to show was Joe Swanberg, who has gone from super low-key directing to hosting a celebrity party this side of “This is the End” in “Digging For Fire.” The other is Andrew Bujalski, whose previous films were nerd alerts like “Mutual Appreciation” and most recently “Computer Chess.”

In a reverse course is Rick Alverson’s “Entertainment,” which doesn’t start modestly but attempt to reach a wide audience, but starts with a big promise to reach a very specific audience. An explanation on that below.

Joe Swanberg is 33. I don't know whether to be amazed by how high or low that number is.  On one hand, that's ridiculously young for a filmmaker who broke out back in 2006 and 2007 with "Lol" and "Hannah Takes The Stairs" and has been absurdly prolific since then. On the other hand, though, the filmmaker who made his name -- and, depending on your generosity, made a genre -- chronicling the dramatically limited foibles of recent college graduates has reached the "thirtysomething" phase of his career. The erratic and misdirected youths at the center of Swanberg's earlier films have become the pesky nubiles who show up to make Swanberg's new leads feel either old or optimistically mature. Check out both the red and green band trailers, a clip, the poster and images for Skinwalker Ranch starring Jon Gries, Kyle Davis and Erin Cahill, as well as Devin McGinn, Matthew Rocheleau and Steve Berg. The R-rated horror opens October 30th and is helmed by Devin McGinn from the writing by Adam Ohler. Judging from what I saw in the red band version I saw, this looks creepy and certainly warrants a view; which is more than I can say for some of the stuff floating around the big budget and indie film stream at this point. A new red band trailer has arrived for the upcoming found footage flick Skinwalker Ranch, and it looks pretty damned intense. Check it out, and look for more on this one soon!

Deep Studios will release Skinwalker Ranch on October 30th in theaters and VOD in more than 20 markets across the country, including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami, Dallas, and Houston, with a DVD to follow.

Devin McGinn stars in the film and makes his directorial debut. He also produced alongside Murphy Michaels and executive producer and Deep Studios founder Ken Bretschneider. The film was written by Adam Ohler and co-stars Jon Gries, Kyle Davis, Erin Cahill, Matthew Rocheleau, and Steve Berg.

We are happy to debut the red-band trailer for the awesome-looking supernatural thriller, Skinwalker Ranch! For those of you not familiar with the film yet, it was inspired by an actual location in Utah known for its unexplained paranormal phenomena. I'm not the biggest fan of found footage films, but this one looks like it will deliver some intense entertainment.

I'm very familiar with Skinwalker Ranch, and I've heard and read a lot of stories about the location over the years. I was wondering when someone would actually get around to making a film based on it, and here it is! I've mentioned before that my brother actually snuck onto the grounds and saw some pretty crazy stuff. It's definitely a good setting for a movie, and some great concepts were used in this movie.

Exclusive: Company picks up international rights to sci-fi thriller.

Highland Film Group has acquired international rights to Skinwalker Ranch.

Devin McGinn’s found footage sci-fi thriller was written by Adam Ohler and is inspired by true events and unexplainable phenomena around a ranch in northeast Utah.

The film stars McGinn, Jon Gries, Kyle Davis, Erin Cahill, Matthew Rocheleau and Steve Berg, and centres on a scientific research team investigating the disappearance of a cattle rancher’s eight year old son.

Highland Film Group’s president of international sales Delphine Perrier commented: “Devin McGinn’s realistic execution makes you often forget you’re watching a feature over a documentary, which really keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a film that is sure to entertain audiences around the world, and we are excited about adding it to our slate.”

I've been fascinated by this Skinwalker Ranch since I first heard about it a few years ago. It's an actual place in Utah that is known for having a ton of paranormal activity. It was only a matter of time before someone was inspired to make a movie about it. The stuff I've heard about the place is a lot more interesting than this film will end up being, though. My brother and some friends actually snuck onto the property at one point and saw a few crazy things of their own.
