Image
Dexter: Resurrection Fan Theory(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Dexter: Resurrection, which premiered last month on Paramount+ with Showtime in the U.S. and on Amazon Prime Video in India, is already being hailed as one of the best seasons in the franchise’s history. Boasting a stellar 94% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score and a rock-solid 9.2/10 IMDb rating, anticipation is sky-high for the upcoming seventh episode, Course Correction. This follows the jaw-dropping Episode 6 twist that the Gemini Killer, aka Gareth, was actually one of a pair of twin serial killers, with Dexter having already killed one of them.

Throughout the season, viewers have met several chilling killers, thanks in part to Leon Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) obsession with them. But one name that’s the most mysterious of them all is the New York Ripper. Known for brutally mutilating victims, the unidentified killer has only been referenced through news reports, police chatter,...

Apple TV+'s Perfect Bridgerton Replacement Is Climbing Global Streaming Charts As Season 2 Ends
Image
Apple TV's perfect Bridgerton replacement is climbing the global streaming charts ahead of its season 2 finale. Based on Julia Quinn's romance novels, each season of Netflix's popular period drama follows a different member of the eponymous noble family as they find love in a historically alternative version of Regency-era London.

Bridgerton's cast includes names like Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, and Simone Ashley, many of whom have been catapulted to greater fame courtesy of the series. Since its debut in 2020, Bridgerton has consistently been one of Netflix's most-watched series, with seasons 1 and 3 both ranking among the streamer's top 10 most popular shows of all time worldwide.

As a result, there have been many shows similar to Bridgerton attempting to capitalize on its success, including Prime Video's My Lady Jane, which was controversially canceled after one season in August 2024. Now, another Bridgerton replacement is rising up the global streaming charts,...

Why Gina Torres Left Suits After Six Seasons
Image
There are many reasons for an actor to leave a popular show or an interesting project. Charle Barnett's Peter Mills was written out of "Chicago Fire" to make room for other characters. Barbie Ferreira left "Euphoria" because her character Kat Hernandez had limited storyline options left.

Sometimes, the departure of a star whom fans saw as key to a show's popularity might be a simple contract issue. For instance, Regé-Jean Page's Simon Basset left "Bridgerton" simply because his contract was up and the esteemed Duke of Hastings opted to go explore other things. A similar thing happened with Gina Torres, who starred in the USA Network legal drama "Suits" as Jessica Pearson for six seasons before departing the show in 2016. In an interview with The New York Times, Torres confirmed that her exit was the simple matter of her contract ending:

"My contract was up, so this wasn't a...

Apple TV+ Is Clearly Drawing Programming Inspiration From a Specific Source — And It’s Working
Image
Apple TV+ might have found its golden goose. The streamer has already established itself as one of the sources of high-quality entertainment, but it's not always that it bets on original ideas like Severance and Ted Lasso. Instead, the Tim Cook company has been honing in on the ink and paper world — book adaptations have proven themselves as excellent sources for the development of new TV series.

Not that Apple hasn't been doing it from the start. Some of the shows that helped launch the platform were inspired or fully based on books — The Morning Show is inspired by the best-selling book Top of the Morning, andFoundationdoes the immensely difficult job of adapting the novel series written by Isaac Asimov. The results keep piling up: in 2023, The Morning Show hit record viewership on the platform (per Deadline), while Foundation boasts a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Both series will roll out new episodes this year.

Eruption: Michael Crichton & James Patterson adaptation finds writers, loses directors
Michael Crichton
Author Michael Crichton passed away in 2008, but several of his novels have been published years after his death. Pirate Latitudes came along in 2009, Micro (which was completed by Richard Preston) followed in 2011, Dragon Teeth (originally written in 1974) was published in 2017, and last year brought the best-seller Eruption, which was completed by James Patterson. The book reached store shelves in June of 2024, and by the end of the month an Eruption film adaptation was set up at Sony, which secured the rights in a competitive auction, making a seven-figure deal. Free Solo directors Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi were on board to take the helm of the film – but now, Deadline reports that Chin and Vasarhelyi are no longer involved with the project. While the studio searches for a new director, Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo have been hired to write the screenplay.

Michael Crichton & James Patterson Bestseller ‘Eruption’ Being Adapted By Kaz & Ryan Firpo For Sony
Image
Exclusive: Following Jurassic World Rebirth‘s $322 million-plus global opening weekend, Sony has hired writers Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo to adapt Eruption, the No. 1 New York Times bestseller from Michael Crichton and James Patterson.

Eruption, which Crichton started writing before his death in 2008 and which was completed by Patterson, follows a history-making volcano explosion that is about to wipe away the big island of Hawaii. However, a secret held for decades by the U.S. military is far more terrifying than any volcano. The two blockbuster authors have combined worldwide sales of more than 700 million books.

Eruption is being produced by Sherri Crichton, Patterson, and Shane Salerno and The Story Factory.

Henry Golding Says Being James Bond Is ‘Every Actor’s Kind of Nightmare’ Because of Too Much ‘Overhanging Cultural Pressure’: ‘Maybe I’m Just a P—‘
Image
Henry Golding recently shared his opinions about possibly taking over the role of James Bond.

“I think that’s every actor’s kind of nightmare,” Golding told People at “The Old Guard 2” red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on June 25.

He continued, “But at the same time, [you’re] also wanting to kind of add something new to a franchise. Why can’t they bring out more agents or more Oo’s? I think that would be so much more fun because there just isn’t the restraints and the expectation.”

Despite his initial response, Golding admitted, “Maybe I’m just a pussy. I don’t know. But I think I would love it so much more if there wasn’t that overhanging cultural pressure.”

Golding is one of several candidates to be cast as the martini-sipping superspy in the forthcoming film. In November 2024, Variety assembled a list of top contenders,...

Bridgerton’s Daphne Is the Least Interesting Despite Being a Diamond
Image
When it comes to Netflix’s Bridgerton, there is no shortage of interesting, well-developed characters, be it the dashing Jonathan Bailey’s Viscount Anthony or Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington. But not all of these characters have managed to spark the same appeal as others, and one main character that falls rather flat is Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton, aka the Diamond of the first season.

In the season debut of the Netflix series, Daphne is crowned the ‘diamond of the season’—a title reserved for the most flawless, desirable debutante in London’s high society. But while she fits the aesthetic and social expectations to a tee, Daphne ends up being the least compelling character in the series.

I feel like every character in Bridgerton was cast so perfectly! Each of the actors embody the historical drama personas they're portraying, I can't imagine anyone else in their roles. It's clear how much chemistry they all have as well. Not just in the romantic sense, but those who play the Bridgerton siblings and other family members and friends in the Netflix drama too. Though did you know there's a major star who almost didn't even audition? And when he eventually did, he sent in a tape for a different role!

’Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey Reveals If He Plans to Stick With the Romantic Drama or Move On
Image
Bridgerton Season 4 officially wrapped filming and is expected to release sometime next year. The fourth season will adapt the third Bridgerton book: An Offer From a Gentleman, which focuses on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Now, as fans await more news – like a full release date or maybe even a trailer – for Benedict and Sophie Baek's (Yerin Ha) love story, Bridgerton's Season 2 star is promising he'll be around for as long as they'll have him.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jonathan Bailey, who plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, talked about his recent global success with Wickedas well as the highly anticipated Jurassic World Rebirth. He also talked about Bridgerton, and his experience in returning for Season 4. Bailey also promised there would be no Irish goodbye from him with the series if he could help it:

"I’ve never been someone who’s like, 'Thanks, bye.' It’s not in my nature.

Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey confirms he's sticking around for many more seasons
Image
If you were nervous about Jonathan Bailey and his fan-favorite character Anthony Bridgerton not appearing in future seasons of the hit Netflix historical romance, then worry no longer! The actor has made it clear he's not going anywhere, as long as the show keeps calling him back for more. With how much us fans love him, I'd hope the series would continue to do so.

The Bridgerton star recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his time before the drama, teased a little bit of what's to come in season 4 (hint: he confirmed there is a wedding!), and told the news outlet about his successful career following his character's more central storylines in the first two seasons. The great news is that while we are waiting for the fourth season, coming in 2026, Netflix has already renewed the series for seasons 5 and 6. With these updates, Bailey is definitely in it for the long haul.

Bridgerton: Does Jonathan Bailey Plan To Leave Netflix’s Regency Romance Series? Jurassic World Rebirth Star Reveals
Image
Does Jonathan Bailey Plan To Continue Being Part Of Bridgerton? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Ever since he appeared on Bridgerton, Jonathan Bailey has been booked and busy. His career trajectory has seen a massive rise in terms of popularity, opportunities, and the appreciation he is getting for playing different roles in every project, jumping from genre to genre.

Be it the regency drama of Bridgerton, the political thriller Fellow Travellers, the musical fantasy Wicked, or his upcoming release, the science fiction movie Jurassic World: Rebirth. Despite being so busy, Jonathan continues to love Bridgerton. The actor recently shed light on whether he will ever leave the Netflix period drama.

Jonathan Bailey On The Initial Fame After Bridgerton

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the 37-year-old shared how he was almost not going to audition for Bridgerton. When he did send the tape, he was reading for Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings,...

Bridgerton’s Best Scene Became Its Curse and the Netflix Gem Hasn’t Recovered Since
Image
Season 2 of Bridgerton gave the audience one of the genre’s most electric love stories in the series so far. The slow-burn romance between Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma has comfortably established its position as one of the best love stories in the Bridgerton franchise.

The season rose to popularity primarily because of the iconic “bane of my existence” scene between Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley. Delivered with an electrifying sense of desperation and urgency by Bailey, the impassioned confession became an instant cult-favorite and a classic Bridgerton reference.

That one Kanthony scene holds so much emotional weight that Season 3, despite strong performances, just failed to live up to the mark. While Colin and Penelope’s romance was no less fulfilling, I’m afraid Kanthony’s chemistry might have set the standards too high.

The Bridgerton scene that set the bar too high

It’s safe to say Anthony Bridgerton...

Keep reading to find out more…

Why He Almost Passed on Auditioning for Bridgerton:

First, Jonathan revealed that in 2018 when the audition for the series came up, he almost passed on it!

“I got sent it and I nearly didn’t audition,” he told THR, revealing the audition happened just as he was wrapping up his revival of the musical Company, which he’d been performing for six months. “At that time, I was really done. I just needed to go and experience the world.” He read for the Duke, which was played by Rege-Jean Page. But eventually, he met with producers and landed the role of Anthony.

‘Black Bag’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett, Gustaf Skarsgård, Tom Burke, Marisa Abela, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris, Kae Alexander, Pierce Brosnan | Written by David Koepp | Directed by Steven Soderbergh

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching Steven Soderbergh work in a minimalist mode – pared down, sharply composed, and operating with clinical precision. Black Bag is exactly that: a lean, cerebral spy thriller that trades explosions for glances, and car chases for loaded silences. It’s also one of the most deliciously grown-up films of the year.

From the moment the film begins, Soderbergh signals that we’re not in the world of shaken martinis or gadgetry. This is espionage as emotional warfare, and it plays out mostly in apartments, dinner tables, and discreet backrooms. The plot is deceptively simple: Michael Fassbender plays George, a British intelligence officer assigned to uncover a mole, who may be his own wife, played with icy finesse by Cate Blanchett.

What Is A Viscount In Netflix's Bridgerton?
Image
While Netflix's "Bridgerton" isn't true to real English history in many ways, it does maintain a general accuracy when it comes to the ranks of the nobility, the customs of the Ton, and the nature of courtship during "the season". The order of importance and prestige in the aristocracy is never laid out explicitly on the show, but enough characters of different rank come and go that viewers can piece together some of the basics. In season 1, for instance, Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page) is a duke, which stirs up quite a fervor when he arrives in town and begins wooing Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).

Simon is good friends with Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) as well, though their ranks aren't quite as comparable as you might assume. Anthony is a Viscount, inheriting the title from his late father. When he marries Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) in "Bridgerton" season 2, she thus becomes his Viscountess.
