Fall Out Boy: ‘Trump is like the cat on The Flintstones – I just threw him out, why’s he in the house again?’
Image
With a trace of terror in his eyes, Patrick Stump is reliving the ultimate punk rock dilemma. If your bandmate looks like he may have just died onstage, do you keep playing? “His head hit this thing hard, and he was out,” the Fall Out Boy singer says, recalling an early club gig during which bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz took a bad fall. “I was like ‘Is he actually dead, or is he gonna wake up and be p***ed off that we’ve stopped the song?’”

Wentz – provably alive and sporting a flowing dyed-blonde mane where he’d once modelled emo’s most swooned-over fin – laughs along, recalling other show misadventures. There was the night that the stage collapsed beneath them at Chicago’s Knights Of Columbus club. The time three people showed up to watch them play a pizza parlour. Or the riots that kicked off at...

Fall Out Boy Compare Being a Rock Band in 2023 to The Last of Us
Image
Fall Out Boy just released the new album So Much (for) Stardust, and where their last few records dabbled in a more commercial sound, the new LP harkens back to the band’s most rock-heavy days. In a new interview with Variety, Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump looked back on their evolving sound, explaining that their previous shift toward pop — specifically on the 2018 record Mania — was a result of trying to “survive” pop radio.

Guitarist Joe Trohman wrote in his 2022 memoir that he didn’t exactly love the sample-heavy Mania, so much so that he didn’t really participate in its creation. When asked if Trohman’s bristling inspired Fall Out Boy to return to rock on So Much (for) Stardust, Wentz replied,

“I feel like our thoughts on Mania were taken a little out of context. Two records before, we were making albums in a landscape that was not particularly friendly to bands,...

Mschf’s Big Red Boots Follow-Up Is a Backward-Forward Sneaker
Image
After going extremely viral with the recent release of its outlandishly oversized Big Red Boots — which were worn by the likes of Janelle Monaé and Lil Nas X, among others — Brooklyn-based creative collective Mschf has another stunt shoe ready to roll out soon.

The footwear, dubbed the Bwd Shoe, are a pair of sneakers in which each shoe has two openings to select, allowing the shoe to be worn either forward or backward, depending on what the wearer feels like at any given time. The shoe is predominantly made in white leather, with red suede at the heel, plus a grey stripe and black-speckled midsole.

Founded by Gabriel Whaley, Mschf is also known for creating buzzed-about items such as the Satan Shoes, in partnership with Lil Nas X, said to include a drop of human blood in the sole, and the Jesus Shoes, worn by Drake and containing holy water from the River Jordan.

Ethan Hawke Featured in ‘Reality Bites’-Inspired Song on New Fall Out Boy Album
Fall Out Boy revealed the track listing for their upcoming album Friday, and fans were surprised to see that Ethan Hawke is featured on “So Much (For) Stardust,” which drops March 24.

Hawke appears on a song titled “The Pink Seashell feat. Ethan Hawke,” and as bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz explained in 2020, it’s inspired by a moment in Hawke’s 1994 film, “Reality Bites.”

“There’s this bit in the movie ‘Reality Bites’ where Ethan Hawke’s character talks about seeing his dad after he found out he had cancer. They’d talk about life and he gave Ethan’s character a pink seashell to help explain things,” Wentz told NME.

Fall Out Boy have released a new song, “Heartbreak Feels So Good,” which will appear on the pop-punk outfit’s next album, So Much (For) Stardust, out March 24.

Adam Lambert shares unimpressed reaction to Theo James wanting to play George Michael
Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert has shared an unenthusiastic response to the suggestion that Theo James should play George Michael in a future biopic.

The Real Story of the Birth of Fall Out Boy
Image
Joe Trohman’s new memoir, None of This Rocks: A Memoir, is a funny, sometimes dark, ultra-honest confessional from Fall Out Boy’s co-founder and lead guitarist. In this excerpt, he gives a detailed account of the formation of his band.

Many people know the story, so I think it’s wise that I tell it with brevity. Pete Wentz and I wanted to start a pop-punk band. Not only were we fans of the genre, but that particular music scene seemed to be budding in its own revitalized fashion,...

Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman Drops Animated Series About Rock Band From the Future (Watch)
Joe Trohman at an event for 2006 MuchMusic Video Awards (2006)
The current social distancing climate has artists turning to new ways of staying connected to fans, whether through Twitch or Instagram live, releasing cover songs, or in the case of Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman, dropping an entire animated series.

The Fob guitarist has released all 10 episodes of his animated series “Mondo Trasho 3042,” which were created with his friends Wade Randolph and Spencer Berman. Trohman kept the soundtrack in the Fob family, with music written by himself with singer Patrick Stump and bassist Pete Wentz producing. They considered pitching it around, but decided to release it for everyone’s stuck-at-home enjoyment instead.

The animated series follows the fictional band Mondo Trasho, which includes a murderous alien-fish creature and a robot, in the year 3042. The intro of each episode sums up the show’s tone and humor perfectly, “We’re Mondo Trasho. We’re a band. We should break up.

Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott's Ghostbusters Theme Song Is "Not Afraid" to Try Something New
Andrew Hurley, Fall Out Boy, Joe Trohman, Patrick Stump, and Pete Wentz
The Ghostbusters reboot comes with a rebooted theme song, natch. Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott teamed up for "Ghostbusters (I'm Not Afraid)," inspired by Ray Parker, Jr.'s original, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984. Parker's theme was nominated for the Best Original Song at the 57th Annual Academy Awards, but it lost to Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" from Gene Wilder's movie The Woman in Red. The boys of Fall Out Boy— drummer Andy Hurley, vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, guitarist Joe Trohman and bassist Pete Wentz—put their own rock 'n roll spin on the track, while Elliott gives it some hip-hop flavor. 10 Essential Classic Fall Out Boy Songs
Wikipedia

Since they returned after a three-and-a-bit-year hiatus in 2013, Fall Out Boy have been a different group from the cult kings they once were. After a number of years at the top of the pop punk mountain, the quartet felt disillusioned and decided to take a break, although always left the door open for a return at some point. Each band member went through his own personal evolution during the break – frontman Patrick Stump lost over 60 pounds and bassist Pete Wentz “grew up” in his own words, while Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley… had haircuts – which made their return all the more satisfying when it eventually happened.

Fall Out Boy’s two post-hiatus albums – 2013’s Save Rock and Roll and 2015’s American Beauty/American Psycho – definitely mark a shift in style from the albums which made them famous, favouring high production values, heavy beats and repetitive pop lyrics over the previous formula of raw,...

Pete Wentz On Being Bipolar, His Split from Ashlee Simpson
Pete Wentz
After years of struggling with bipolar disorder, Pete Wentz has found a treatment plan that works for him - one that doesn't include a prescription. "I don't take any medication," he told HuffPost Live earlier this week. "I went to therapy ... but I think the idea that there's a one size fits all [solution] is one of those myths. Everybody figures themselves out in a different way." Now with his band, Fall Out Boy, back out on the road, Wentz is surrounded by a strong support system. "We therapize each other," he joked. "There's no shame in talking about that kind of stuff,...

It didn't take "Centuries" for Fall Out Boy to release new music! After a three-year hiatus, the multiplatinum punk pop band regrouped and recorded Save Rock and Roll in 2013. Instead of making fans wait an additional three years for a follow-up, band members Andy Hurley, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz released a new single via iTunes Tuesday morning. DCD2 artist Lolo appears on the track. The "Centuries" music video is coming soon. "We never had a plan to jump right back into it after whirlwind year we've had…but sometimes the song calls you," the band told its fans on Facebook Monday. "We started writing 'Centuries' while we were on tour because...

Patrick Stump at an event for 2006 MuchMusic Video Awards (2006)
Pete Wentz's newborn son is getting a playmate! During a Kiis FM interview, Fall Out Boy's lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump announced that he and wife Elisa Yao will welcome their first child together in late October. "I'm about to have a kid or a tattoo. I'm like the snows of Siberia—just untouched," Stump joked of being the band's out man out. Stump and Yao tied the knot in Chicago in October 2012. Bassist Wentz has two sons, Bronx and Saint Lazslo, with ex-wife Ashlee Simpson and girlfriend Meagan Camper. Guitarist Joe Trohman and wife Marie Wortman Goble welcomed a daughter, Ruby, in April. Drummer Andy Hurley doesn't have any kids, but he does have...

Fall Out Boy Releases Shocking New Video
Pete Wentz
Fall Out Boy is back at it, releasing a new music video for the band's latest single off of the recent album "Save Rock and Roll."

The music video to "Alone Together" made its debut on Monday. Andy Hurley, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman, and Pete Wentz appear in the video as torture victims, subject to the moves of a group of leather-clad women. The band members are shown individually in straitjackets, undergoing various forms of cruel and unusual punishment.

The video to "Alone Together" follows the same dark theme that Fall Out Boy took for the first three music videos off of "Save Rock and Roll." The music videos to "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)," "The Phoenix," and "Young Volcanoes" all focus on the band's battle with a group of women. Fall Out Boy has dubbed this music video story "The Young Blood Chronicles.

Fall Out Boy Drop By Y100 Miami Theater!
They’ve been working overtime to promote their new album Save Rock and Roll, and Fall Out Boy gave a live performance at the Y100 Miami Performance Theater.

Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy Hurley all showed some love to their (mostly female) fans while fielding questions and playing some live songs.

At one point an audience member brought up some “Happy Birthday” balloons for Pete, who turned just turned 34. Y100’s Mack in the Afternoon also had his own surprise for Wentz.

Check out the photos as well as links to the chats and performances, courtesy of the fine folks at Y100 Miami!

Fall Out Boy: The Fabulous Life and Secret Torment of America’s Hottest Band
Image
Pete Wentz plays bass in Fall Out Boy, but his real instrument of choice is a Sidekick smart phone – a device he employs to write lyrics, manage a business empire, argue with girls, check fan sites and take the occasional glamour shot of his dick. He never stops his virtuoso thumb-typing, even when he’s rehearsing for a Letterman appearance: As the rest of the band – singer Patrick Stump, lead guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley – fools around with a tricky riff from Steely Dan’s “Reeling in the...
