Eva Longoria will star in the upcoming independent comedy “Unplugging,” portraying the spouse of Matt Walsh’s character.

Principal photography has started in Oklahoma following Oklahoma state and SAG/AFTRA Covid-19 protocols. Lea Thompson, Keith David, Nicole Byer and Al Madrigal have joined the film, which marks the directorial debut from Debra Neil-Fisher. Walsh penned the script with Brad Morris.

The film will be produced by Debbie Liebling, Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel for The Traveling Picture Show Company, and Morris and Walsh. William G. Wednesday, Oct. 21 Saban Schedules ‘Wander’ for Theaters, On Demand

Saban Films has scheduled a Dec. 4 opening in theaters, on demand and on digital for the conspiracy thriller “Wander,” with Aaron Eckhart starring.

“Wander” is directed by April Mullen from a script by Tim Doiron. It also stars Katheryn Winnick, Heather Graham and Tommy Lee Jones.

Echhart’s character is hired to probe a suspicious death in the small town of Wander, then becomes convinced the case is linked to the same conspiracy cover up that caused the death of his daughter. The film was shot last year in New Mexico.

Eva Longoria has joined Ice Cube in an untitled science fiction movie for Universal Pictures with Patrick Aiello and Timur Bekmambetov producing.

Rich Lee will direct from a Kenneth Golde script that contains themes of privacy and surveillance. Universal plans to go into production this month on the project, which is part of their five-picture deal with Bekmambetov for projects similar to his 2014 film “Unfriended,” which utilized his Screenlife format within the world of smartphones and computer screens.

Longoria was most recently seen in “Dora and the Lost City OfGold” and “Sylvie’s Love.” She is attached to “Flamin’ Hot” for Searchlight, “Spa Day” for Sony and “24/7” for Universal, which she will also direct. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

Vertical Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to “Burn Your Maps,” an adventure drama starring Jacob Tremblay, Vera Farmiga and Virginia Madsen, the company announced Wednesday.

Vertical Entertainment is planning a Q2 theatrical release for the film, and Warner Bros. Pictures will handle international distribution.

Jordan Roberts, who wrote the screenplay for Disney’s “Big Hero 6,” wrote and directed “Burn Your Maps,” which made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016.

Sony Pictures acquired original comedy “The Three Tenors” and is courting Eugenio Derbez to star in what the studio aims to position as an international comedy, the company announced Tuesday.

Sony is eyeing Derbez for one of the title roles. Derbez is one of Mexico’s biggest stars, with a total box office gross of more than $150 million in that country alone. His most recent Hollywood projects were the Anna Faris team up “Overboard,” which grossed $91.2 million worldwide and “How to be a Latin Lover,” which pulled in $61.9 million.

“The Three Tenors” will be produced by Patrick Aiello, who created the story and then brought the project Columbia Pictures head Sanford Panitch, who approached Derbez to star.

Derbez is one of Mexico’s biggest stars. His credits include the worldwide hit “Instructions Not Included,” which took in nearly $100 million worldwide when it opened in 2013. Derbez starred opposite Anna Faris earlier this year in “Overboard,” which has earned over $90 million worldwide, and also appeared in “How to Be a Latin Lover” and “Miracles From Heaven,” another Sony release.

The film will be produced by Patrick Aiello, who came up with the story idea. He then brought the project to Columbia Pictures President Sanford Panitch, who in turn approached Derbez to star.

Ld Entertainment is to shoot Biblical thriller Clavius in Malta over the coming months.

Set in the first century, Joseph Fiennes will play an agnostic Roman Centurion tasked by Pontius Pilate to locate the missing body of Jesus in order to suppress an uprising at a time when rumours of the second coming are gathering momentum.

The feature, from Waterworld director Kevin Reynolds, is earmarked for release Easter 2015. Patrick Aiello wrote the screenplay and is producing alongside Ld Entertainment CEO Mickey Liddell and head of production Pete Shilaimon.

A mystery thriller about the resurrection of Jesus is being planned by Waterworld director Kevin Reynolds, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Backers Ld Entertainment have pitched it as "Gladiator in tone but with a mystery bent, an all-ages movie that tells of how the first Easter came to be".

Reynolds is attached to Resurrection, which is described as the story "of the first 40 days after the resurrection of Jesus" as seen through the eyes of an "agnostic Roman centurion charged by Pontius Pilate to investigate rumors of a risen Jewish messiah and locate the missing body of Jesus of Nazareth". Based around the New Testament story from the Bible, the story follows an agnostic Roman centurion at the time of the alleged resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Pontius Pilot tasks the soldier with subduing an uprising in Jerusalem. At the same time he investigates rumours of a risen Jewish Messiah and find the missing body of Jesus of Nazareth.

The film is said to play up the mystery aspects of the Biblical story, and tonally is aiming to be akin to "Gladiator".

Patrick Aiello, Karen Janszen and Reynolds worked on the script, and Aiello will produce. A March 2015 release is being targeted.

The project would mark Reynolds' first feature directorial effort since 2006's "Tristan + Isolde". He last helmed the high-rating "Hatfields & McCoys" mini-series.

Karen Janszen wrote the screenplay. Aiello created the project and Jennifer Monroe and Patrick Raymond will oversee for Ld Entertainment.

Things are finally coming together for "Dylan Dog: Dead Of Night," the upcoming movie based on the wildly popular Italian comic book series "Dylan Dog." Updates were sparse the last few years, but in a flurry of activity this month the project received a Us release date, a new trailer, and a snazzy new poster featuring star Brandon Routh as Dylan Dog.

The long-awaited film is also headed to WonderCon this weekend in San Francisco, where director Kevin Munroe ("Tmnt") and Routh's co-star, Sam Huntington, will premiere some brand new footage from the film.

Oh, and did we mention that we have some new, exclusive images from "Dead of Night" to whet your appetite for this weekend's "Dylan Dog" debut? Well, we do!

Martin Sheen has joined the cast of Michael Brandt's spy thriller "The Double" for Hyde Park/Imagenation says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story centers on a retired CIA operative (Richard Gere) forced to partner with a young FBI agent (Topher Grace) to hunt down the killer of a senator in Washington.

Sheen will play the director of the CIA. Stephen Moyer, Stana Katic, and Odette Yustman also star.

Brandt makes his directorial debut on the film which he co-wrote with Derek Haas. Ashok Amritraj, Patrick Aiello and Andrew Deane will produce and shooting kicks off Monday in Detroit.

Richard Gere and Topher Grace are teaming up for "The Double," a Hyde Park-Imagenation Abu Dhabi spy thriller on which scribe Michael Brandt will make his directorial debut.

Brandt and his writing partner Derek Haas, who were wrote movies like "Wanted" and "3:10 to Yuma," penned "Double," which begins with a murder of a senator in Washington by a Soviet assassin long thought to be dead. A retired CIA operative (Gere), who spent his career going toe to toe with his Soviet nemeses, is forced to partner with a young FBI agent (Grace) to hunt the killer down.

Brandt said he was a fan of films such as "The Conversation," "Three Days of the Condor" and "No Way Out," and hoped to follow in their tradition.

Production is scheduled for June in Detroit.

Santa Monica -- Songwriter-producer Dave Stewart has teamed with Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment and Imagenation Abu Dhabi through the pair's newly created strategic alliance with Media Development Authority of Singapore to make "Street Dancing."

Stewart will team with Oscar winner A.R. Rahman ("Slumdog Millionaire") to pen the movie's score, billed as an against-all-odds story set in the world of dance competitions held in Singapore and New York.

It’s mentioned during the audio commentary on the DVD of Dark Country, out next week from Sony, that the movie was originally set up at Lionsgate. And it’s something of a shame it didn’t stay there, because considering that company’s handling of the My Bloody Valentine remake, it probably would have issued Country on disc in the 3-D format in which it was shot.

Country’s production as a dimensional feature is the elephant in the room among the supplements accompanying the movie, which never made it to theaters and is presented on disc in 2-D only.
