Where to Watch ‘Civil War’? (Streaming & VOD)

The most controversial film of 2024 has already been released and is attracting criticism from all sides. Written and directed by the visionary filmmaker Alex Garland (Ex Machina), Civil War has proven to be a massive hit for the A24. Civil War has everything you need including striking visuals, a gripping story, and complex characters. While there are people from both sides of the political aisle criticizing the film for not picking a side, I think that Garland did a wonderful job at showing us a broken America without blaming any political party for it.

Civil War is set in a dystopian future America suffering from a civil war as a team of military-embedded journalists race against time to get to Washington D.C. to interview the President before rebel factions take over the White House and kill the President.

‘A Family Affair’ Review: Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron Put on a Nora Ephron Karaoke Act
Image
Nora Ephron’s influence is certainly felt throughout Richard Lagravenese’s new romantic comedy, in everything from the cozy sweaters and the luxuriously lived-in interiors to the cross-cut phone conversations in which our loveably neurotic characters try to figure out this crazy thing called love. And while you’d never mistake it for the real deal—the writing isn’t quite smart enough and it’s visually rizz-less in that typical “made for streaming” way—A Family Affair makes for a pleasant enough addition to the recent rom-com resurgence.

It begins with Chris Cole (Zac Efron), the self-centered star of a Greek mythology-inspired superhero franchise. The movies are crap, and he knows they’re crap, but they make him loads of money and keep him in the spotlight, so he signs on for every sequel that comes his way. However, the script for the latest project looks so bad that...

‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Series Premiere: Sam’s Shield, Bucky’s Book of Regrets and More Burning Questions
Image
Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you haven’t yet watched Season 1, Episode 1 of Disney Plus’ “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

After nine weeks of “WandaVision” — the boldest departure ever for the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the opening of Marvel Studios’ second television adventure, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” felt like stepping inside a pair of comfortable shoes. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is over Tunisian airspace near the Libyan border, on a covert mission for the U.S. Air Force to rescue a colonel from terrorist captors. Using his Falcon wings, Sam boards a cargo plane, tussles with terrorists, leaps out of said plane, tussles with base diving terrorists, evades helicopter attacks and missile strikes, and manages to rescue the colonel right before crossing the border into Libya.

Sam’s high-flying, action packed escapade feels right at home within the MCU, evoking many of Sam’s past adventures in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,...

The Hunt (2020)
Movie Review: The Hunt
The Hunt (2020)
Stop me if you’ve know this one, twelve strangers wake up in deserted clearing with no idea of how they arrived there and aClear cachere then systematically hunted for sport by more affluent members of society. If you haven’t heard that story, morality play, joke, or whatever you would like to call it, before, that may be because it is none of those things. It is, in fact, the plot of the new horror film called The Hunt.

This is a film that starts off at full-throttle and never lets up. Director Craig Zobel, who directed the overlooked science-fiction parable Z for Zachariah (2015), drops the viewer right in the middle of the action along with the players and leaves them just as disoriented and confused (but in a good way). Writers Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof (HBO’s Watchmen) craft a story that plays on numerous standards of the cat-and-mouse story,...
