‘American Dad’ Producers on No Longer Getting to Swear as They Return to Fox; Upcoming Guest Stars Include RuPaul, Chris Pine
Image
With “American Dad!” returning to Fox — and broadcast television — the show’s producers admit they’re going to have to adjust to those broadcast standards. “The only thing that we’re gonna have to get used to is no longer being able to say ‘shit’ and ‘God damn it,'” executive producer Matt Weitzman told the audience at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. “But you know what? We don’t have to find creative ways to be entertained.”

The show, entering its Season 20, recently received a whopping four-season order at Fox, alongside four-season renewals for “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” and “Bob’s Burgers” — all shows fomr 20th TV Animation. Fox originally launched the show in 2005, but after it canceled the show, TBS picked it up in 2014. After TBS opted not to renew it, Fox opted to take it back.

Hazbin Hotel Creator Teases An Og Villain Having A Bigger Role In Season 2
Image
The primary conflict of Hazbin Hotel is shifting for season 2, as recently teased by the show's creator. Hazbin Hotel season 2 is coming to Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 29, 2025, following up on Princess Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) and her found family's efforts to redeem sinners after their defeat of Adam (Alex Brightman).

However, Hazbin Hotel season 1 set up some other intriguing subplots, with Charlie's facilities manager Alastor (Amir Talai) clearly harboring ulterior motives and hiding much about his past. We do know that he has a long-standing rivalry with "the Vees" — a trio of powerful overlords and media titans in Hell — especially their spokesman Vox (Christian Borle).

At the Hellaverse's panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, where ScreenRant was in attendance, Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano hinted that Vox is essentially the main villain of season 2. "He's a lot more of a present villain than Adam," said Medrano, hinting that the focus...

Patrick Stump’s Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Role, Teased By Creator
Image
Fall Out Boy fans may now have their eyes on Hazbin Hotel, as a member of the band will be joining the adult animated series when it returns for its sophomore season on Oct. 29, 2025. The show's creator has shared with ScreenRant what it was like to work with this musical icon, and teased more of what we can expect from his character.

Hazbin Hotel season 2 will continue to follow Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), the ambitious princess of Hell and owner of a hotel where sinners can be redeemed and ascend to Heaven. However, Heaven has never been on board with this plan, which led to Charlie and her friends doing battle with Adam (Alex Brightman) in the Hazbin Hotel season 1 finale.

While speaking with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan and San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrana said that Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump was "lovely" to work with, and that...

'Hazbin Hotel' Creator Reveals How Quickly Fall Out Boy's Lead Singer Signed On to Season 2 [Exclusive]
Image
One of the standout announcements from San Diego Comic-Con 2025 during the Hellaverse panel was that Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump is officially joining Hazbin Hotel Season 2 as Abel, the son of Adam. CreatorVivienne "VivziePop" Medrano shared the story of how Stump came on board during an interview with Perri Nemiroff at the Collider Interview Studio, and why his voice was the perfect fit for the character, and that his joining the cast happened remarkably fast.

“He Said Yes Within Like Two Hours”

“Abel is the son of Adam,” Medrano explained during Collider interview. “So Adam, we wanted him to be this very like rock star, you know, he's kind of like the toxic masculine version of a rock star, but still really fun and energetic. And what we're doing with Abel in the show is showing he is the soft one. He's the sweet son that Adam may or...

'Helluva Boss' Creator Reveals Why Prime Video Is the Right Home for the Series Instead of YouTube
Image
Fans of Helluva Boss got the update they’ve been waiting for at San Diego Comic-Con 2025: Seasons 1 and 2 will debut on Prime Video this September, bringing with them an all-new episode titled "Mission: Zero." While the show’s move to Prime Video was announced earlier this year, the Sdcc panel finally locked down the streaming timeline, and teased just how far the team is ready to go in the new season. Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, the creator of the Hellaverse (which includes Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel), made it clear that this new platform partnership isn’t about reining things in. In fact, it’s the opposite. Medrano and the cast confirmed that Season 3 will be fully uncensored, with the freedom to include jokes, language, and risqué material that were previously toned down or cut entirely due to YouTube’s content restrictions.

'Hazbin Hotel' Season 2 Gets a Delicious Release Update
Image
Prime Video has announced during the first official Hellaverse panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 that Hazbin Hotel will officially return for Season 2 on October 29, just in time for spooky season. Created by Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, the breakout adult animated musical-comedy has captivated fans with its mix of dazzling animation, Broadway-caliber songs, and a devilishly clever take on redemption in the depths of Hell. The updated logo for Season 2 also heralds a VoxTek takeover, as was teased in the Season 1 finale.

Where Season 1 of 'Hazbin Hotel' Left Off

The first season of Hazbin Hotel followed Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), the idealistic princess of Hell, as she sought to rehabilitate sinners and give them a second chance at salvation through her hotel. By the end of the season, Charlie’s mission faced mounting challenges, not just from Hell’s powerful overlords and her own doubts about whether her dream is achievable,...

6 Bands Whose Names Come From TV Comedies
Image
Comedians long to be rock stars, they say, and rock stars dream of being comedians. For proof, look no further than band names that found their inspiration in TV comedies. The Simpsons and The Brady Bunch alone are responsible for at least seven band names between them.

Here are six bands that found their names tucked into the episodes of their favorite television laughers…

1 Fall Out Boy

The first time Fall Out Boy performed, they introduced themselves as Forget Me Not. When it was time for a more permanent alias, Pete Wentz argued for tongue-in-cheek names while Patrick Stump wanted something that referenced Tom Waits.

A bunch of names went on a list, including Fall Out Boy, an obscure reference to Radioactive Man’s youthful sidekick on The Simpsons. Friends voted on the name, and Fall Out Boy rose to the top.

Other bands with Simpsons-inspired names include the metalcore band Evergreen Terrace,...

Ang Lee Boards Documentary ‘76 Days’ Based On Steven Callahan’s Survival Memoir ‘Adrift’ As Executive Producer
Image
Exclusive: Oscar-winning filmmaker Ang Lee has boarded 76 Days, a documentary from Joe Wein, based on Steven Callahan’s New York Times bestselling memoir Adrift: 76 Days Lost At Sea, as an executive producer.

Lee comes to the project after collaborating with Callahan on his 2012 Oscar winner Life of Pi. He had the author serve as a consultant on that film, examining an unbelievable story of survival at sea, after learning about Callahan’s own incredible tale in the same vein.

On the eve of February 4, 1982, in the middle of the night, there was a loud boom as a whale collided with Steven’s boat. Within minutes, his small craft was flooded with a rush of water. He grabbed what he could, heaved his life raft into the ocean, and snatched his emergency kit. Without food or water, for an incredible 76 days the inflatable raft was his home as he drifted across the Atlantic Ocean.

That was singer and composer Patrick Stump’s vision for the score of Hot Wheels Let’s Race, a new family series based on the iconic toys. ‘Merry Little Batman’ Review: The Caped Crusader’s Kid Gets His Own Adorable Animated Adventure
Image
Fatherhood apparently has a way of slowing you down. Take Batman, for instance. He’s clearly not at his fittest in this new Amazon Prime animated film, in which he looks more like a burly lumberjack than a superhero, wearing dad jeans, a flannel shirt and a heavy beard. Fortunately, he’s not the hero tasked with saving Gotham City yet again in the Yuletide-set Merry Little Batman. That would be Damian, his eight-year-old son, who clearly takes after his old man when it comes to fighting supervillains.

Damian (voiced by Yonas Kibreab) displays the typical energy of a pre-adolescent, chasing his cat around the expansive confines of Wayne Manor as if they were in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. His father Bruce (Luke Wilson) is essentially retired, having gotten rid of all crime in Gotham City. But he’s still on call, meaning that when he gets a message...

Fall Out Boy hinted at Crynyl back in March when they posted an Instagram video of Pete Wentz applying tear stick, chopping onions, and sweetly reminiscing on his friendship with Patrick Stump, all for a secret upcoming project. Those tears apparently went towards one of the 50 copies available of So Much (For) Stardust on Crynyl, which come packaged in a gatefold box with a built-in, fully functional tissue dispenser.

Unfortunately for Fall Out Boy diehards, the first Crynyl pressing of So Much (For) Stardust has already sold out, but it seems there...

Patrick Stump on AI Chatbot Fall Out Boy Lyrics: “You’re Consuming Art That Has No Expression Behind It”
Image
The members of Fall Out Boy are weighing in on the impacts of AI and algorithms on the music industry.

In a recent interview with The Independent, the band discussed how their latest album, So Much (for) Stardust, fits into their musical evolution and extensive discography as well as their musical growth. The band, which has been around for two decades, has always played with their tone, with their latest album arriving as a “very low-tech” follow-up to the “cyborg” sounds of 2018’s Mania, according to lead singer and lyricist Patrick Stump.

It’s a blending of the band’s eras that also acknowledges the passage of time and the increasing rise of a “pretty not authentic world,” said bassist Pete Wentz, thanks to things like the metaverse and NFTs.

“We live in a world where it’s NFTs and avatars and my kids are constantly buying Fortnite skins,” Wentz said.

Review: Fall Out Boy Show Off Their Tightest Hooks on ‘So Much (for) Stardust’
Image
Like all the emo and pop-punk bands that blew up during the ascents of those genres in the aughts, Fall Out Boy have had their share of growing pains in the process of building a name outside of a scene. As they got bigger, they focused more on the pop element of their sound, careening into the natural fit of R&b for singer Patrick Stump’s massive vocals, arena rock, and the type of March Madness-core mess of electro-rock that would define 2018’s Mania.

For their eighth album, So Much (for) Stardust,...

Fall Out Boy: ‘Trump is like the cat on The Flintstones – I just threw him out, why’s he in the house again?’
Image
With a trace of terror in his eyes, Patrick Stump is reliving the ultimate punk rock dilemma. If your bandmate looks like he may have just died onstage, do you keep playing? “His head hit this thing hard, and he was out,” the Fall Out Boy singer says, recalling an early club gig during which bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz took a bad fall. “I was like ‘Is he actually dead, or is he gonna wake up and be p***ed off that we’ve stopped the song?’”

Wentz – provably alive and sporting a flowing dyed-blonde mane where he’d once modelled emo’s most swooned-over fin – laughs along, recalling other show misadventures. There was the night that the stage collapsed beneath them at Chicago’s Knights Of Columbus club. The time three people showed up to watch them play a pizza parlour. Or the riots that kicked off at...

Fall Out Boy Compare Being a Rock Band in 2023 to The Last of Us
Image
Fall Out Boy just released the new album So Much (for) Stardust, and where their last few records dabbled in a more commercial sound, the new LP harkens back to the band’s most rock-heavy days. In a new interview with Variety, Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump looked back on their evolving sound, explaining that their previous shift toward pop — specifically on the 2018 record Mania — was a result of trying to “survive” pop radio.

Guitarist Joe Trohman wrote in his 2022 memoir that he didn’t exactly love the sample-heavy Mania, so much so that he didn’t really participate in its creation. When asked if Trohman’s bristling inspired Fall Out Boy to return to rock on So Much (for) Stardust, Wentz replied,

“I feel like our thoughts on Mania were taken a little out of context. Two records before, we were making albums in a landscape that was not particularly friendly to bands,...

Fall Out Boy Dress the Part for ‘Hold Me Like a Grudge’ Performance on ‘Fallon’
Image
Fall Out Boy appeared on The Tonight Show to showcase their latest single, “Hold Me Like a Grudge,” and took the opportunity to don theatrical costumes. Singer and guitarist Patrick Stump wore fake muscles and a curly-haired wig, while bassist Pete Wentz rocked an eye patch.

“Hold Me Like a Grudge” appears on the band’s new album So Much (For) Stardust, which drops today. The 13-track project also features lead singles “Love From The Other Side” and “Heartbreak Feels So Good.”

“Our band has been an ongoing art project...

Ethan Hawke Next Move? As a Featured Guest on Fall Out Boy’s New Album
Image
Turns out Maya isn’t the only musician in the Hawke/Thurman family. Ethan Hawke is making his debut as a music artist this month in an unexpected place: iconic pop-punk band Fall Out Boy’s upcoming eighth studio album, “So Much (for) Stardust.”

The news was announced by the “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” band on Friday, via a Twitter post revealing the full tracklist of their upcoming record. Hawke is listed as a featured guest on the song “The Pink Seashell,” and the only guest on the 13-track album. Fall Out Boy — which consists of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Andy Hurley, and the on-hiatus Joe Trohman — has promoted the album with two singles, “Love from the Other Side” and “Heartbreak Feels So Good,” released in January.

Although best known for his work as an actor on acclaimed...

Fall Out Boy’s Weird Song Titles Are Back on ‘So Much (For) Stardust’ Tracklist
Image
Fall Out Boy’s song titles have become less and less unhinged with each passing album, but the tracklist for their forthcoming eighth record So Much (For) Stardust suggests that they still have that weird sparkle in them.

The 13-track project, arriving March 24, will feature the lead singles “Love From The Other Side” and “Heartbreak Feels So Good.” The rest of the tracklist is littered with titles like “Baby Annihilation,” “Flu Game,” “Heaven, Iowa,” “The Kintsugi Kid (Ten Years),” “I Am My Own Muse,” and “The Pink Seashell,” which features...

Fall Out Boy, Now a Trio, Debut New Single ‘Love From the Other Side’ on Kimmel
Image
Hours before Joe Trohman announced his temporary departure from Fall Out Boy, the now-trio appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to deliver their new single “Love From the Other Side.”

The performance kicked off with Patrick Stump on lead guitar and drummer Andy Hurley playing the opening riffs while bassist Pete Wentz slowly made his way toward the stage, leading a pack of emo-haired doppelgängers who ultimately formed the mosh pit.

Fall Out Boy’s performance was taped before — but broadcast after — Trohman revealed in a statement that he would take a hiatus from the band.

Fall Out Boy Announce First Album in 5 Years, Share ‘Love From The Other Side’ Video
Image
Fall Out Boy becomes a cast of characters in Pete Wentz’s twisted storybook tale in the video for “Love From the Other Side,” the first single from the band’s newly-announced eighth studio album So Much (For) Stardust, set for release on March 24. The new album will be the band’s follow-up to the 2018 LP Mania.

Certifiably geriatric, Wentz delivers an exciting recount of the band’s conflict at sea to help his granddaughter fall asleep. Traveling to a faraway village called Winnetkaland, the four-piece faces off with a...

The Real Story of the Birth of Fall Out Boy
Image
Joe Trohman’s new memoir, None of This Rocks: A Memoir, is a funny, sometimes dark, ultra-honest confessional from Fall Out Boy’s co-founder and lead guitarist. In this excerpt, he gives a detailed account of the formation of his band.

Many people know the story, so I think it’s wise that I tell it with brevity. Pete Wentz and I wanted to start a pop-punk band. Not only were we fans of the genre, but that particular music scene seemed to be budding in its own revitalized fashion,...

‘Dead End: Paranormal Park’ Creator Hamish Steele on Crafting the Animated YA LGBTQ-Inclusive Horror Series
Image
Click here to read the full article.

In Netflix’s new animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park, Barney — a young teen boy with an electric blue ombre — and his dog Pugsley move into a haunted amusement park where they begin working (and fighting monsters) alongside Norma, a fellow teen-turned-friend.

It sounds typical enough for a genre kids’ cartoon, yet Dead End — a colorful trip into the pains and joys of teenhood as its main trio battles demons, ghosts and their insecurities — isn’t typical for animation.

The 10-episode adventure stars a racially-, gender- and sexuality-diverse cast, with the main ensemble led by voice actors Zach Barack (the MCU’s first openly trans actor) as Barney, Kody Kavitha as Norma, Alex Brightman as Pugsley, Emily Osment as demon Courtney, and Clinton Leupp a.k.a. Miss Coco Peru as the park’s big-haired founder Pauline Phoenix, among others. It also features...

‘Mark, Mary & Some Other People’ Review: A Spry Rom-Com About Monogamy
Image
“Mark, Mary & Some Other People” opens with one of the strangest meet cutes in recent memory: Slacker dog-walker Mark (Ben Rosenfield) and brash singer Mary (Hayley Law) reconnect for the first time since college at a convenience store, where the former joins the latter in the bathroom — eventually singing loudly and crazily to boot — while she takes a pregnancy test. That introduction is emblematic of the jaunty weirdness of Hannah Marks’ romantic comedy, which concerns its protagonists’ ensuing decision to attempt an open relationship. Embellishing stock formula with plenty of personality, it’s

With a jokey ’70s mustache and matching curly hair, Mark is a good-natured goof whose self-possessed oddness (exemplified by his collaboration with his father on a “life cup” birth control device that works with saliva) is ideally suited for Mary, a Black rocker with long braids and a dreary day job recording voiceovers for commercials for...
