We had many setbacks, the first of which we encountered during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Covid was something which was very new to the world back then, none of us knew about what was going to happen or what the future will be especially, during the first wave, there was uncertainty.”

He further mentioned that problems often trigger the sense of community within people and it’s something that helped them sail through during the difficult times.

Actor Kay Kay Menon, who is a chameleon when it comes to getting into the skin of any character, said he plays people and not roles. Kay Kay is all set for the release of his next series ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ in which he will be seen playing the role of an honest cop.

The trailer of the series was launched in Mumbai on Monday and it has been getting great response from everyone.

Kay Kay has earlier also played the role of a cop on screen.

When asked what difference will the audience get to see in his role this time, he said, “I play people on screen and not roles. No two people are the same in this world and there can be limited number of roles. For example one can play the role of a cop, professor, lawyer but each person is different. So I tend to play that person on screen.

Mumbai, Sep 4 (Ians) Actor Avinash Tiwary, who is set to essay the role of Dara Kadri in the upcoming crime-drama series ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’, has shared that every actor on the sets of the show was trying to impress the highly accomplished actor Kay Kay Menon with their craft.

However, Avinash said that Kay Kay Menon was trying to impress his wife, actress Nivedita Bhattacharya, who happens to play his on-screen wife in the show as well.

Actor Avinash Tiwari is now preparing for two upcoming releases ‘Kaala’ and ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’. He said that there’s a lot to be grateful for as the two releases are one day apart.

Mumbai, Aug 28 (Ians) Shujaat Saudagar, the creator of the upcoming crime streaming drama ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’, has said that the show deals with the complexity of nature vs nurture.

Shujaat has also directed the second part of ‘Rock On!!’ which starred Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai and Purab Kohli.

The Slamdance Film Festival has announced the winners of their 2023 Jury and Audience Awards. In the Narrative Feature category, “Waiting for the Light to Change” took the top honor, while “Starring Jerry as Himself” pulled double duty as the winner of both Narrative and Jury prizes in the documentary category. The film’s own Jerry Hsu was awarded the festival’s Outstanding Acting Award.

Other Jury prizewinners include “The Underbug” for Breakouts Feature, “Palookaville” for Episodes, and “Millstone” in the Unstoppable program.

“Honeycomb” won the Audience Award for Episodes, and “American Pot Story: Oaksterdam” took home the prize for the Unstoppable competition.

This year’s Agbo Fellowship, presented by 2022 recipient and current Slamdance jury member Ethan Eng, was awarded to Tij D’Oyen. His short film “Lollygag” was featured as part of the Narrative Shorts competition.

Slamdance Film Festival has revealed the winners of its annual Sparky Awards, with “Waiting for the Light to Change” and “Where the Road Leads” taking home the narrative feature grand jury prize and audience award, respectively.

Directed by Linh Tran, narrative feature grand jury prize winner “Waiting for the Light to Change” is an “exceptional act of patience, restraint, courage and authenticity,” according to the jury. “Filmmaker Linh Tran paints a remarkably honest portrait of vulnerability that breaks open the heart of its audience, demanding sincerity and drawing deep reflection of the fractured nature of ourselves and the complex, human spaces between each of us.”

The 2023 Slamdance Unstoppable Grand Jury Prize was awarded to Peter Hoffman Kimball’s, while the Breakouts Feature Grand Jury Prize went to Shujaat Saudagar’s The Underbug (India), and the 2023 Episodes Grand Jury Prize was awarded to Theodore Collatos’s Palookaville.

Organisers at the hybrid 29th Slamdance Film Festival have announced that the word premiere of Dimitri Coats’ Free LSD will close the festival on January 20 2023 as they also unveiled Narrative, Documentary, Breakouts, Spotlight, and Unstoppable programming line-ups.

Free LSD follows an adult store owner who takes an experimental drug that provides a glimpse into a parallel universe where he is the leader of a band battling evil aliens over the future of human consciousness. Amazon is strengthening its ties in India by unveiling a 40-strong slate of original TV series and films and an on-demand rentals service.

Having already made significant in-roads in the multi-lingual country, Amazon used an event at the Jw Marriott Sahar in Mumbai to reveal plans for 22 scripted series, four unscripted series, nine returning series and four films, specials and co-productions, plus multi-year licensing agreements with major Indian producers, such as Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films.

Along with thrillers, action dramas and light-hearted comedies and romance stories, Amazon India is also pushing into the supernatural and horror genres for the first time.

Amazon Prime Video is betting big on Indian content. At a marquee event in Mumbai the streamer announced that it will more than double its investment in Prime Video India over the next five years and revealed a 40-strong slate, its biggest to date in the country.

The titles are in the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages, across new and returning scripted and unscripted original series and co-productions, streaming over the next 24 months. The service has also revealed a foray into original films. Some 70 of the upcoming titles will feature new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

Indian filmmaker, singer and actor Farhan Akhtar is returning to direction after a decade with feature film “Jee Le Zaraa,” starring Bollywood A-listers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.

The film is due to start shooting in Sept. 2022. “It’s a road film, a slice-of-life film, with three women on the road,” Akhtar tells Variety. The film is written by Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti and co-produced by Tiger Baby Productions.
