Nirvana, Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey ‘MTV Unplugged’ Sets Finally Hit Streaming
Image
A massive trove of live performances from the late-Nineties/early-Aughts glory days of music television has finally made it to the streaming era, with Paramount+ uploading old episodes of MTV Unplugged, CMT Crossroads, and VH1 Storytellers.

As Billboard notes, these collections aren’t entirely comprehensive, with random episodes and full seasons missing here and there for all three programs. Nevertheless, there’s still a deep assortment of classic performances to dig through, including most of the episodes that appeared on Rolling Stone’s list of the 15 Best Episodes of MTV Unplugged.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Technical Issue Before Stevie Nicks’ Performance Halts the Live Show
Image
Eagle-eyed “Saturday Night Live” fans immediately spotted something was amiss before the show’s musical guest Stevie Nicks’ second performance. After a landslide of internet comments, it turns out there was indeed a technical issue that was resolved quickly.

The seemingly smooth episode for the 50th anniversary season (which featured Oasis impersonations and a fantastic monologue from host Ariana Grande) hit a speed bump right before Grande was set to re-introduce Nicks for her next song. The issue caused the show to put up a Nicks billboard for around 50 seconds while the emergency was attended to and then leapfrogged into an ad break.

When things were fixed, Grande appeared and introduced the legend again. Shortly after the iconic guitar intro from “Edge of Seventeen” begins, you can see Nick fiddling with her mic pack on her right side, but ultimately didn’t affect the singer’s performance.

This was not...

Oasis Got in Legal Trouble for Plagiarizing a Monty Python Collaborator’s Track
Image
The roll out of Oasis’ much-hyped reunion tour has been a real nightmare for fans. Ticket prices landed somewhere between the cost of Fabergé eggs and black market organs, thanks to Ticketmaster’s “Dynamic Pricing.” Liam Gallagher responded to the controversy in the most Liam Gallagher way possible, by instructing his fans to “Shutup.” I guess we should just be happy that he didn’t threaten to stab anybody in the eye.

But this is far from the only controversy that the band has weathered. We all know about the time Noel Gallagher claimed that Oasis was “bigger” than The Beatles, but what about the time they screwed over one of The Rutles?

In 1994, Oasis released the song “Whatever,” a “standalone Christmas single” that came out between their debut album Definitely Maybe and the hit follow-up (What's the Story) Morning Glory? The song was a success, debuting at number three on the U.

Genshin Impact 3.6’s new enemies have finally been added to the game with the arrival of the update, offering players a fresh combat experience and a threat to ward off. The new creatures were previously leaked and then confirmed in Genshin Impact 3.6’s livestream. These higher-tier opponents are meant to be a challenge for more experienced players, as they are not so easily encountered.

In fact, they are exclusively present in the new Sumeru area added with the patch. The new enemies in Genshin Impact 3.6 are mostly clever new classes within enemy types, such as Hilichurls and the Abyss Order. The popular RPG gets new enemy types quite frequently, though not as often as it receives new playable heroes, such as the confirmed new characters for Genshin Impact 3.6, Kaveh and Baizhu.

Image
The reviews are in, and Wolfgang Van Halen “killed it” during his performance with Dave Grohl at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert.

The succinct analysis comes from none other than Wolfie’s mom Valerie Bertinelli, who took to Twitter on Saturday and subtweeted a video showing Wolfgang rocking out onstage at Wembley Stadium in London. Bertinelli wrote, “Wolfie Killed It. So proud of you @WolfVanHalen.”

The tribute concert — the first of two, with the second one slated for Sept. 27 in Los Angeles — featured an all-star lineup that included Travis Barker, Queen’s Roger Taylor, the Police’s Stewart Copeland, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic and many more.

For those who couldn’t catch MTV’s live stream can tune in to CBS on Saturday night at 10 p.m. Est, when a one-hour primetime special is set to air. The special will feature highlights from the show in London.

2013 Viewfinder List: ‘Fool’s Day’, ‘Noah’ And ‘Controller’ Top Shorts List
Jeff Schroeder in Big Brother (2000)
Here’s the new Viewfinder List, the entertainment industry survey which polls studio executives, producers and creatives for their top 10 short films, commercials and/or music videos. This is similar to The Black List, as the Viewfinder List honors short form content and the directors who made them. The list was created by producer Jeff Schroeder, Aaron Schmidt (Langley Park Pictures) and Patrick Chu (FilmNation). In recent years, some of the shorts have been optioned and some of their directors have gotten jobs — and hey, the attention never hurts. This year’s top vote-getter, Fool’s Day, was directed by Cody Blue Snider, the son of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider. Here is the website where it is possible to watch the shorts:

Rocksmith 2014 Edition Rocks Out Its Full Tracklist
Rocksmith 2014 Edition, the sequel to the self-teaching guitar experience from 2011, is being released next Tuesday and it’ll be armed with 55 songs. Ubisoft released the entire tracklist ahead of the October 22nd launch today and Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC gamers will be treated to the likes of Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Queen and The Police, among other top artists from the golden years of rock.

Ubisoft also announced that downloadable songs purchased for the first game will be compatible with Rocksmith 2014 Edition. There will also be the option to import the disc-based songs from the original Rocksmith to play in the new sequel, but there will be a nominal fee charged for the privilege.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition allows gamers to learn how to play a real guitar or bass guitar by plugging an instrument in to their gaming console. The game determines the skill level of the player and adjusts the difficulty of lessons accordingly.

It's not quite Beatlemania or the '90s Britpop invasion by the likes of Oasis, Blur and the Spice Girls, but astute music followers will have noticed that British music, has been quietly staging yet another attack on American charts.

This time around, this assault is spearheaded by powerhouse diva, Adele, whose sophomore album, 21, is currently the bestselling one of the year and is pushing Britney Spears' Femme Fatale off the #1 spot on next week's Billboard 200 chart. Then there's folk-rock band Mumford and Sons, whose album peaked at #2 a whole year after it was released and has impressively gone platinum.

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2010 Nominees – List of Nominations

The ‘Crying Lightning’ hitmakers are in the running for Best British Band, Best Album Artwork, Best Live Band, Best Track, Best Video and Best Album and Worst Album for 'Humbug', while frontman Alex Turner is up for two additional awards – Hottest Man and Hero of the Year. Fellow rockers Kasabian are the Monkeys’ biggest rivals, with six nominations including Best Album for 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum'. Alex, 24, said: “It’s a good thing knowing we’re still up for these awards. I think we’re just co-existing very nicely.” Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan said: “It’s been a big year for us and being nominated...

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has revealed that he loves Coronation Street and would love a part in the Manchester-based soap. The former Oasis singer, 42, would even be happy with a small role. 'It's such an institution,' he said. 'Why they've never asked me to be in it is really one of the scandals of our age. 'I could just have a walk-on part. A little, tiny part. Preferably punching David Platt's face in.'...

A History Of The MTV Video Music Awards In New York City

Britney Spears performs at the 2001 Video Music Awards in New York City

It all started in New York in 1984. Ronald Reagan was president. Times Square was a neon-shrouded dump. And MTV invaded Radio City Music Hall for the first ever Video Music Awards. Madonna took the stage in a lacy wedding gown to sing about virginity, Michael Jackson nabbed three Moonmen for "Thriller" and, well, pop culture was never the same again.

With the 2009 show returning to Radio City on September 13 at 9 p.m., we had to take a look back at the many, many ways — from Madonna making out with Britney Spears to hundreds of Slim Shady clones helping Eminem out with his live act — that the VMAs have rocked New York.
