‘The Final Destination’ Embraced the Early Aughts 3D Trend and Dialed Up the Silliness
Image
The 3D resurgence of the early aughts had Hollywood in a vice grip thanks to advances in technology, and, by 2009, horror began to embrace the format in a big way. That included the fourth installment of the Final Destination franchise, The Final Destination.

The success of Final Destination 3 meant a sequel was inevitable, this one planned for 3D. Final Destination 2 scribe Eric Bress and director David R. Ellis returned, with the latter taking the helm because of the 3D. The sequel makes full use of its 3D, incorporating requisite CGI jump scares of flying car parts and viscera leaping out of the screen, which, in turn, dates this entry more quickly than its counterparts.

Not helping is that this sequel puts all its eggs in the baskets of 3D gimmicks and embellishing Death’s morbid sense of humor; The Final Destination dials up the puerile humor with its more expansive deaths,...

Final Destination: Bloodlines: Release Date, Cast, Plot, and All You Need to Know
Image
If you love horror, Final Destination isn’t just a movie—it’s a stress test for your imagination. Every object suddenly feels like a death trap. One minute, everything seems expected, and the next, someone is getting taken out by a freak accident so bizarre you’ll never look at everyday life the same way again.

Highways? Too risky. Roller coasters? Not unless a heart attack is desired. Airplane turbulence? Gripping the seat like it’s the last lifeline. Well, Death is back, and this time, it’s playing by new rules. Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth installment in the franchise, and it’s not just a reboot or another copy-paste sequel.

The creators have made it clear that this one will be distinct, switching up the formula that made the series famous. If you thought you knew how this franchise worked, think again—because this time, Death isn’t following the script.

All 5 Final Destination Movies, Ranked Worst To Best
Image
When it comes to horror movies, a few franchises like Final Destination keep you glued to your seat. It doesn’t rely on masked killers or creepy ghosts—just the unstoppable force of death itself. The series, which kicked off in 2000 under James Wong’s direction, is all about people trying (and failing) to escape their fate. No matter how clever they think they are, death always finds a way.

From the first film to Final Destination 5 in 2011, the franchise has taken audiences on a rollercoaster of brutal, over-the-top accidents. While the concept remained the same—someone has a premonition, cheats death, and then gets hunted down by fate—the movies found new, creative ways to make us squirm. Of course, as the series went on, the formula became predictable, but that didn’t stop fans from enjoying the wild, suspenseful deaths.

A still from the upcoming film Final Destination: Bloodlines...

Jamey Johnson Takes Us Down His Long and Winding Road
Image
When Jamey Johnson released his label debut The Dollar in 2006, he was a clean-cut hat act still holding onto a little spit shine from his service in the Marines. Two years later, he’d grown out his hair and beard and effectively brought outlaw country — in both look and sound — back to Nashville with the ragged and raw That Lonesome Song. The equally rough-hewn albums that followed, 2010’s double LP The Guitar Song and a 2012 collection of Hank Cochran compositions, suggested Johnson would be a prolific recording artist.

Instead, he...

The Best Final Destination Characters, Ranked
Image
In most horror movies, the characters are nothing more than stereotypes. There's the jock, the promiscuous girl, the nerd, the stoner, and the survivor. It's a trope that horror fans have become familiar with over the years. If these tropes are not present in the movie, then in many cases the characters are nothing more than fodder. They exist solely to get killed off by the serial killer, ghost, demon, or whatever other supernatural force is terrorizing the movie.

The Final Destination franchise breaks the formula. While the survivors aren't always deep or overly nuanced, they are the focal point of the movies. Viewers either root for the characters to figure out how to outwit Death and survive, or they eagerly wait on the edge of their seats to see how creatively the characters will meet their inevitable demise. Whatever the case, the best films in the series are rounded...

The Final Destination Movies, Ranked
Image
Death is a menacing force to be reckoned with in the Final Destination movies. Each entry in the series follows the same formula. After having a near-death experience, a cast of mostly young characters meet a gruesome fate, often in freak accidents. It's a formula that has worked for five movies. When it comes to the best Final Destination movies, there's usually a horrific, relatable opening sequence that exploits a viewer's worst fears. Plane rides, rush hour traffic, and roller coasters are all promised to be safe, but something could go horribly wrong. It's a nagging feeling that many have in the back of their minds, which is exactly why Final Destination is such a successful horror franchise.

Some horror franchises fall off the rails eventually, but Final Destination is unique since every single movie in the series is insanely watchable and enjoyable, especially for horror fans. Time will tell...

Where to Stream All the ‘Final Destination’ Movies Right Now
Image
It’s always a good time to revisit the “Final Destination” movies, one of the goriest, most (re)watchable horror franchises of all time.

The cast of characters trying to dodge Death in each film changes (for the most part), but the enigmatic and menacing coroner William Bludworth (“Candyman” star Tony Todd) is in every installment except the fourth movie.

Here’s where you can stream all five movies, where people who survived catastrophic disasters are killed off in inventively gruesome ways.

Tony Todd in “Final Destination” (New Line Cinema)

“Final Destination” (2000)

In the first film, student Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a terrifying vision that the plane his French class is taking to Paris will explode, killing everyone. He freaks out and leaves the plane, as do several other students and one teacher. The flight does, in fact, go up in flames … and then people begin dying in the...

Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Final Destination (2000)
It’s time for another episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, and with this one we’re looking back at the fourth entry in the Final Destination franchise, a film called The Final Destination (watch it Here). This is the least popular of the five Final Destination movies we’ve seen to date – and you can hear all about it in the video embedded above!

Directed by David R. Ellis, who previously directed Final Destination 2, from a script written by Eric Bress (who worked on the script for Final Destination 2), The Final Destination has the following synopsis: While enjoying a day at the track, Nick O’Bannon has a horrific premonition of his friends and him all dying in a freak accident involving many racecars. Mere seconds before the vision comes true, he manages to convince them to leave. Although they cheat death then,...

Crown Media Family Networks Wraps Upfront Sales With Double-Digit Increases
Crown Media Family Networks said it has wrapped up its 2019-20 upfront ad sales, locking in double-digit gains for both price and volume.

The company’s twin networks, the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, have bucked the broader trend of cratering ratings. With its wholesome, stars-of-a-certain-age-studded programming lineup and events like “Countdown to Christmas,” which will mark its 10th anniversary this fall, Hallmark has proven to be a draw for viewers and, therefore, advertisers. Demand was particularly strong in the retail and telecom categories.

Hallmark recently renewed one of its mainstays, When Calls the Heart, for a seventh season despite the controversy swirling around one of its stars, Lori Laughlin, who was implicated in the college cheating scandal. The network wrote Laughlin out of the show and severed all ties with her.

The fourth quarter, with holiday programming and advertising, is always a potent one for Hallmark. The...

New Scream Season 2 Possible Mr. Branson Teaser Spoilers Dished Out By The Producer
As previously reported, TV Line chatted up Scream executive, Jill Blotevogel, and she delivered new, early season 2 spoiler scoops. In this segment, she talked about the possibility of seeing Mr. Branson return. It turns out that Jill would definitely be interested in bringing him back for some interesting scenes with Brooke, and more. Jill stated: "I definitely wanted to keep Mr. Branson on the table. I thought Bobby Campo did such an amazing job taking this character, who could’ve very easily been a write-off as the skanky teacher who sleeps with a student — he ended up being more interesting. I would like to see him in Season 2. He’s definitely not going to be teaching at Lakewood anymore. But his presence would be really interesting. Wanting to see that scene between him and Brooke, a month after the events of the finale — to me, that’s something that would be fascinating.

Murderer’s Mask from Scream TV Series Unveiled
One big difference between the small screen version of Scream and the movies is the killer's mask. Described as a mixture between the headgear of Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Ghostface, the mask from the Scream TV series has been revealed.

EW unveiled the first look at the murderer's mask in MTV's Scream TV series. Empty eye holes and a gaping mouth show some relation to the iconic Ghostface look, but this mask is also held down by slightly visible straps and retains a more human-like look with its realistic facial dimensions.

With the Scream TV series premiering on June 30th, we'll have to wait until later this summer to see who's hidden beneath this new mask and find out their motives (if any) for murder.

Speaking with EW, Scream film series director and Scream TV series executive producer Wes Craven mentioned that the different design of the killer's mask...

MTV's 'Scream': Bella Thorne to Recreate Drew Barrymore Scene
Drew Barrymore in Scream (1996)
MTV's Scream series may not be using the iconic Ghostface Killer mask, but it will recreate one of the original Scream film's most remembered scenes. In 1996, it came as a shock to audiences when Drew Barrymore didn't make it past the opening act, as she was set up to be the star of the movie. She was dispensed rather quickly by the main slasher. Now, MTV has gotten another big star, and it's confirmed that this same opening act will be used once again to kickstart this small screen reboot.

Disney mega-star Bella Thorne stated that she has been secretly cast by MTV for this homage to the original Wes Craven horror classic during a Facebook chat on Yahoo! Celebrity. Bloody Disgusting was later able to confirm this report. About appearing in the show, Bella Thorne stated:

"Yes it is true. i will re-enact the famous scene of drew barrymore in the original series.

Scream Reboot Gets Series Order from MTV
“Do you like scary movies?” If this line from Wes Craven’s Scream still sends a shiver down your spine, then perhaps you should prepare to be creeped out by more cryptic phone calls, as MTV has officially put in a series order for their Scream reboot.

MTV made the announcement via Twitter, using blood-splattered emojis to get the message across, in addition to a listed phone number. If you call the number, a man imitating Roger L. Jackson’s chilling vocal cords says, “Do you like scary TV? Scream is coming to MTV October 2015.”

Willa Fitzgerald, Carlson Young, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Sean Grandillo, and Amadeus Serafini in Scream: The TV Series (2015)
When MTV announced that they greenlit the pilot for the Scream TV series, many fans assumed that the iconic Ghost Face mask from the movie franchise would surely be seen at some point. As it turns out, the Ghost Face look copyright is held by the Fun World company, and they have been informed by The Weinstein Company that MTV will not be using the mask as part of it's "initial launch," but that may change in the future.

Here's what Fun World's Rj Torbert had to say in an interview with GhostFace.co.uk.

"To answer your question regarding the Scream TV series... Please note, that I had been in communication with TWC regarding this and they have informed me, that as of now, and during the initial launch that Ghost Face is Not involved in the new format. They also indicated that because of this direction, it does not mean,...

MTV’s Scream Adds Hot Teacher, Sheriff And Two More
Just two weeks ago, MTV announced that it had set director Jamie Travis (Faking It) to helm the pilot episode of a series based on the popular meta-horror Scream franchise. At the same time, the network revealed a cast of young up-and-comers, including Willa Fitzgerald (Alpha House, Royal Pains), Amy Forsyth (Reign), John Karna (The Neighbors), Carlson Young (Key and Peele) and Amadeus Serafini. Now, some more casting news, including a major recasting, has been announced.

Bex Taylor-Klaus, who became a fan favorite on The CW’s Arrow with his portrayal of DC Comics character Sin, will be replacing Forsyth in the role of Audrey, the daughter of a Lutheran pastor, who is described as “an artsy loner who aspires to be a filmmaker.” Audrey used to be close friends with protagonist Emma Duvall (Fitzgerald), “a classic beauty whose looks and popularity hide a natural shyness and intellectual nature.” Emma,...

Scream TV Show Swaps Amy Forsyth for Bex Taylor-Klaus; Show Me A Hero Adds Jim Belushi; Eddie Izzard Joins Powers
We’ve got some TV casting news worth sharing. Here’s what’s coming at a glance: MTV’s Scream added Connor Weil, Bobby Campo and Joel Gretsch, and swapped Amy Forsyth for Bex Taylor-Klaus. HBO’s Show Me A Hero added Jim Belushi, Terry Kinney and Michael Stahl-David to the cast. Sony PlayStation Network’s Powers just picked up Eddie Izzard, Noah Taylor and Olesya Rulin. Hit the jump for more. Just the other week, we told you that MTV’s Scream TV show loaded up its cast with a whole bunch of fresh faces including Forsyth as a character named Audrey Jensen, the “artsy loner who aspires to be a filmmaker.” However, apparently that didn’t wind up working out because according to THR, they just swapped her out for Arrow’s Taylor-Klaus. Willa Fitzgerald will lead the show as Emma Duvall, a Sidney Prescott-type character who goes...

More Scream Casting News
Some quick casting news is here for the upcoming MTV series based on the Scream franchise as THR is reporting that four more actors have signed on for active duty, one of whom will be replacing the previously announced Amy Forsyth.

Willa Fitzgerald will star as Emma Duvall, a classic beauty whose looks and popularity hide a natural shyness and intellectual nature. Her new life with the “in crowd” leaves her estranged from her childhood best friend, Audrey.

Emma is the lead in MTV’s "Scream" take and bears a resemblance to Neve Campbell’s tortured high school student Sidney Prescott in the 1996 feature film.

Bex Taylor-Klaus, who has been recurring on The CW’s "Arrow" as DC Comics character Sin and whose credits also include "The Killing" and "House of Lies," will replace Forsyth in role of Audrey, the daughter of a Lutheran pastor. She’s described as an...

Willa Fitzgerald, Carlson Young, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Sean Grandillo, and Amadeus Serafini in Scream: The TV Series (2015)
MTV’s Scream has been in the making for a while. It was first announced that the show had a pilot order in May of 2013, but it wasn’t until more than a year later that it finally found its cast and director. And now, there’s been a change to that cast.

EW has confirmed that Bex Taylor-Klaus, who plays Sin on The CW’s Arrow, will replace Amy Forsyth in the lead role of Audrey Jensen, who was originally described as “the daughter of a Lutheran pastor” and “an artsy loner who aspired to be a filmmaker.” There...

Drew Barrymore in Scream (1996)
Following a slew of casting announcements earlier this month, MTV is rounding out the cast of its Scream pilot, adding Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow, The Killing), Bobby Campo (The Final Destination), Connor Weil (Sharknado) and Joel Gretsch (The 4400).

Bex Taylor-Klaus, who recently played Sin on CW's Arrow, actually replaces the previously announced Amy Forsyth as Audrey Jensen, the daughter of a Lutheran pastor described as a loner and an aspiring filmmaker. Bobby Campo will have a recurring role as Seth Branson, a charming and easy-going English teacher at Lakewood High. Connor Weil will be a new series regular as Will Bellmont, an All-American basketball player and boyfriend of the main character Emma Duval (Willa Fitzgerald). Joel Gretsch rounds out the cast as Sheriff Clark Hudson, a respectable lawman and father to Kiernan (Amadeus Serafini).

Other confirmed cast members include John Karna as Noah Foster, a computer genius and best friend of Audrey Jensen,...

Four New Additions to the Scream TV Series
We recently reported the official core cast and director for MTV’s Scream pilot, based on director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson’s self aware and scary film series. Now the show is really taking shape with the announcement of four additions to the cast, one of whom is a favorite among fans of AMC’s The Killing and is replacing a previously attached actress.

Bex Taylor-Klaus, who played Bullet in season 3 of AMC’s The Killing and portrays Sin on The CW’s Arrow, has now joined the cast of the Scream TV series. Taylor-Klaus will play Audrey Jensen (the former best friend of the show’s main character, Emma), a role previously held by Amy Forsyth. Here are the four new additions and their character biographies (courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter):

Scream Series Recasts a Role, Finds a Sheriff, Adds More Actors
The Scream television series over at MTV just recast one of its main characters. The Hollywood Reporter says Bex Taylor-Klaus is taking over for Amy Forsyth as "Audrey," a teen who aspires to be a filmmaker. No reason was revealed as to why Forsyth exited the role.

Added to the cast, per THR:

Bobby Campo (The Final Destination) will recur as Seth Branson, the hot English teacher at Lakewood High who has an easy charm and is clearly one of the "cool" teachers, who can go with it if a lesson plan gets a little off-track.

Title: The Jazz Funeral Director: Jesse Rosen Starring: Bobby Campo, James Morrison, Maiara Walsh, Dee Wallace, Rene Le Vant A world premiere and Grand Jury honorable mention selection at the recently concluded 17th annual Dances With Films Fest, “The Jazz Funeral” is a relaxed, shrewdly observed portrait of the sort of crucible that a lot of young men must pass through in entering into a functional, adult, peer relationship with their father. Smart, modulated performances and a professional, unfussy technical package mark this as a superlative indie effort — one that augurs good things for a lot of the young talent involved. The Compelling Gay Story in “Masters Of Sex”
When Showtime debuted its new series Masters of Sex, about pioneering sex researchers Masters and Johnson, we wondered if and how the show would handle the gay thing. M&J had what can be charitably described as a problematic relationship with homosexuality, running a clinic purporting to convert homosexuals with a claimed 71% effective rate (Virginia Johnson would later allow that figure was an exaggeration). Add to that the 1950s period setting and the general repression of non-standard sexuality in America in general and there had to be concern that gay people would be rendered invisible on the series.

We needn’t have worried. In addition to kicking off with a three-episode arc featuring lesbian prostitute Betty Dimello (Annaleigh Ashford), Showtime slipped a stealth gay character into the series, and his story is not only the most interesting one in the show, it’s probably one of the best gay storylines...

Watch: 'Grey's' Stars Get Goofy In Season 9 Gag Reel
James Pickens Jr., Ellen Pompeo, and Chandra Wilson in Grey's Anatomy (2005)
"Grey's Anatomy" fans may be weeping over the thought of Sandra Oh leaving at the end of Season 10, but perhaps this hilarious Season 9 gag reel, courtesy of ETOnline, will lift your spirits?

The drama might be non-stop at Grey Sloan Memorial, but the cast clearly knows how to have fun between takes, with stars such as Oh, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin McKidd and Jessica Capshaw showing a lighter side in the newly released bloopers.

While Oh's exit will undoubtedly affect the series, Season 10 will also feature some new faces. "Dexter" star James Remar will appear in multiple episodes, Bobby Campo and Heather Hemmens will play an engaged couple -- a firefighter and cop, respectively -- who are involved in a disaster in the Season 10 premiere, and Veronica Cartwright is also set to guest star.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 10 premieres Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. Et with a two-hour episode on ABC.

Major Scoop On 'Grey's' Premiere
James Pickens Jr., Ellen Pompeo, and Chandra Wilson in Grey's Anatomy (2005)
The "Grey's Anatomy" Season 10 premiere is just under two months away, but new details have emerged that will give fans some clues about what they'll see when the ABC medical drama returns.

TVLine reports that the "Grey's Anatomy" Season 10 premiere will be called "Seal Our Fate," which is quite ominous when looking at the end of Season 9 and what we know about the upcoming season.

Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) was last seen unconscious in the Season 9 finale, laying on the floor of the flooded basement of Grey Sloan Memorial, electrocuted after the power came back on in the wake of the storm that hovered over the season's final two episodes.

"Hopefully that's not going to happen, but we don't know," Kevin McKidd (Dr. Owen Hunt) told TV Guide in May of Richard's possible death. "If there's a chance to save Richard, you're going to have every doctor at Grey...

Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Premiere to Be Titled...
Well, this is nice and ominous.

ABC sources have confirmed the Grey's Anatomy Season 10 premiere title to TV Line and it may not bode well for the future of Dr. Richard Webber.

The September 26th opener will be called "Seal Our Fate." Gulp.

As previously reported, the two-hour opener will center on the new interns at the hospital, as well as the aftermath of Meredith's difficult birth.

We also know that Veronica Cartwright will guest star on the premiere, as will Bobby Campo and Heather Hemmens. The former's role is unknown, while the latter pair will portray an engaged couple who viewers meet at the scene of an accident.

Grey's Anatomy Season 10 will feature a quartet of new series regulars. Gaius Charles, Jerrika Hinton, Camilla Luddington and Tessa Ferrer were all promoted by the hit drama in June. They all debuted on Season 9 as the characters of Shane, Stephanie, Jo and Lea,...

Veronica Cartwright to Invade Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Premiere
Will Webber make it out alive? Will Meredith and her baby be okay? What is in store for a number of our favorite couples?

There are certainly a number of questions surrounding the Grey's Anatomy Season 10 premiere, but while Shonda Rhimes remains mum on most answers, we can at least confirm the following:

Veronica Cartwright - a veteran actress known for supernatural roles on Invasion, The X- Files and Eastwick - will guest star on the two-hour September opener. Details on her role remain unclear at this time.

ABC has also announced that Bobby Campo and Heather Hemmens will stop by the premiere and both may also turn up later in the season.

Grey's Anatomy returns with new episodes on Thursday, September 26.
