Brooklyn Castle (2012)
Jonathan Levine directing film version of Brooklyn Castle documentary
Brooklyn Castle (2012)
Jonathan Levine will direct a film version of Brooklyn Castle.

The 50/50 director has signed on to adapt Katie Dellamaggiore's acclaimed 2012 documentary for Sony Pictures, reports Deadline.

Brooklyn Castle centres around the young students of New York school I.S. 318.

Despite being located in a desperately impoverished neighbourhood, the institution has consistently delivered national chess champions.

Levine will also be reteaming with 50/50's Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a Christmas comedy film.

He is working on Street Dreams - a television series about the life of Nas - and Bad Romance with Channing Tatum.

Scott Rudin Productions' Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, and Point Grey's Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver are producing the film, alongside two other projects.

These are Console Wars - which charts the rivalry between Nintendo and Sega in the 1990s - and a project from the Mail Order Comedy troupe.

The Blackout Poster and Trailer Lurks in the Darkness
Scared of the dark? You should be. Here’s a quickie trailer and poster for Robert David Sanders’ “in the dark” creature movie “The Blackout”. I’d like to tell you that I don’t want to spoil what is lurking in the darkness and chasing our victims, but, er, the poster sorta already gives that away. Starring Barbara Streifel Sanders, Joseph Dunn, Ian Malcolm, Michael Caruso, Caroline Rich, Anthony Tedesco, James Martinez, John Gorman, Alexis Zibolis, and Ace Gibson. When an apartment building’s lights go out mysteriously, all of the tenants put aside their problems and band together to get to the bottom of the city-wide blackout. Deep in the basement of the high-rise, a hideous breed of monster hatches and begins to wreak havoc. Everyone must find a way to kill the blood-thirsty creatures and survive the darkness before it destroys the world. Synopsis: When an apartment...

Look Out Bad Robots are Coming for You!
No, it’s not a movie about J.J. Abrams and the boys and how they convinced someone to fund a movie about a giant monster attacking New York City from the Pov of a shaky camcorder. It’s actually an honest-to-goodness sci-fi movie about robots run amok. Or at least, one robot. Well, it’s kind of hard to tell when it comes to the film’s actual plot, since there isn’t all that much about it. The poster looks groovy, though, and the “concept teaser” looks promising. The film is set to star Jenni Fontana, James Nardini, Caroline Rich, Corbin Timbrook, Skoti Collins, and will be written and directed by Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson. Also, apparently no one is quite sure if this is a short film (Robinson is known for his short films) or a full-length feature film, which would be his first if that’s the case.
