10 Power Rangers Who Never Returned to the Show (But Should've)
Image
It's always exciting when old Power Rangerscharacters make a reappearance. Most of the time, this happens during the series' frequent team-up episodes. This isn't always the case though, and fan favorites like Tommy Oliver, Adam Park and Billy Cranston are famous for their solo appearances.

Many of the best Power Rangers made appearances long after their departures from the series, while others never appeared after their debut season at all. Some teams never returned for a team-up episode, while other characters were simply absent from their team's grand comeback. These Rangers are all beloved figures, and they deserved to get at least one more crack at the spotlight.

Tanya Sloane Is the Only Mighty Morphin Era Ranger to Never Re-Appear

Tanya Sloane is Zeo Ranger II Yellow in Power Rangers Zeo, and the first Yellow Turbo Ranger in Power Rangers Turbo. There is arguably no Ranger more deserving of a comeback than Tanya.

What to watch this weekend September 29, 2023: TV awards contenders
Image
If someone has to say it, I will: There are not enough genuine romantic comedies on television. That’s why the charming British import “Starstruck,” about a 20-something woman who works in a movie theater embarking on a relationship with a famous actor, is a breath of much-needed fresh air.

Created by New Zealand comedian Rose Matafeo and written by Matafeo, Nic Sampson and Alice Snedden, the series is exceptionally funny and surprisingly heartfelt, balancing elements of screwball comedy with nuanced observations about love, friendship and growing up. The six-episode third season, which is now streaming on Max, picks up two years after Season 2 and finds Jessie (Matafeo) and Tom (Nikesh Patel) have gone their separate ways only to regularly be thrust back into each other’s lives by their now-overlapping friend circles. The result is a season that underscores healthy relationships and maturity without ever losing the sense of...

'Starstruck' Season 3 Review — Rose Matafeo's Hilariously Bittersweet Rom-Com
Image
Few comedy shows have found their precise niche over the last three years as skillfully as Starstruck. The BBC series created by Rose Matafeo (a verified triple threat who both stars and co-writes the episodes alongside Alice Snedden and Nic Sampson) is now in its third season, and while it does feel like the show is moving toward a natural endpoint, that doesn't mean the ride is any less heartbreaking or sparkling with humor this time around. We viewers fell in love with the romance between Jessie (Matafeo) and A-list actor Tom Kapoor (Nikesh Patel) when the two first decided to give it a go back in Season 1, only for them to realize in Season 2 that there was a stark difference between the optimistic fantasy of a love story and the day-to-day reality of their vastly divergent lifestyles. The emotional ups and downs that ensued were as entertaining as they...

Rose Matafeo (‘Starstruck’): ‘People make such stupid decisions, particularly in relationships’ [Exclusive Video Interview]
Image
“Rom-com fans are very tough, tougher than you think,” confesses “Starstruck” creator and star Rose Matafeo in our recent webchat. She continues, “It’s always tough to write something that is branded with being part of a specific genre from the outset. It was a challenge to be able to satisfy people who are total fans of rom-coms, but also bring people to it who don’t necessarily like rom-coms. Making sure that the comedy element of it was strong enough was really important for us.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

In “Starstruck,” Matafeo plays a millennial New Zealander living in London called Jessie. After a one-night stand with a movie star (Nikesh Patel), the pair develop an awkward and endearing relationship. The HBO Max series has recently been renewed for a third season. Matafeo writes it with fellow New Zealanders Alice Snedden and Nic Sampson.

Rose Matafeo’s ‘Starstruck’ Renewed For Third Season By BBC Three & HBO Max
Image
BBC Three and HBO Max have commissioned a third season of Rose Matafeo’s critically-acclaimed comedy Starstruck.

The show, in which Matafeo plays millennial Londoner Jessie as she navigates the complications of becoming romantically involved with famous movie star Tom (Nikesh Patel), will once again be co-produced by the UK and U.S. networks, having proved popular on both sides of the Atlantic.

Matafeo will continue to co-write along with Alice Snedden and Nic Sampson and is also taking up directing duties for season three alongside Snedden.

The first two seasons have performed well on their respective platforms and achieved critical acclaim, with Matafeo in particular winning plaudits for her no-nonsense portrayal of a young millennial woman searching for love. Russell Tovey joined the cast for season two.

Why ‘Starstruck’ Season 2’s Ending Is Perfect for a Show About the Messiness of Love
Image
After twelve episodes of tracking the roller-coaster ride of Jessie (Rose Matafeo) and Tom (Nikesh Patel) from drunken New Year’s Eve hookup all the way to the threshold of Something Serious, Season 2 of the HBO Max series gives its main character a unique make-or-break opportunity. With her London friends and a not-quite-ex ex there as a witness, Jessie climbs off a paddleboat and trudges through the water to where Tom is awkwardly passing his afternoon.

After a roundabout declaration of love, she’s ready to walk back to shore, unburdened from having to keep up the facade of someone who’s fine keeping her feelings at a manageable simmer. But before she can even get back to the boat where her roommate Kate (Emma Sidi) is waiting, Tom sloshes after her and the two kiss to the hoots and hollers of (almost) everyone looking on.

As a season-capping moment,...

Rose Matafeo and Nikesh Patel Break Down ‘Starstruck’ Season 2 — and Whether There Will Be a Season 3
Image
Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the entirety of “Starstruck” Season 2, which is now available to stream on HBO Max.

The first season of “Starstruck” was one of 2021’s most purely delightful TV surprises. Somehow, over six episodes running just 20 minutes each, creator and star Rose Matafeo managed to both embrace and upend the romantic comedy genre with the story of how normal girl Jessie (Matafeo) accidentally slept — and then fell in love — with movie star Tom Kapoor (Nikesh Patel). After a season of ups and downs, its happy ending saw the two decide to stay together despite Jessie buying plane tickets home to New Zealand, Tom’s agent (Minnie Driver) warning him that actors can never date “civilians,” and basically everyone else’s lowered expectations.

The season’s final scene sees Jessie and Tom sitting at the back of a bus peeling away from the airport stop. The music swells,...
