Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who rose to fame as the son on 1980s megahit The Cosby Show and had a prolific acting career that included series-regular slots on The Resident and Malcom & Eddie and was a Grammy-winning recording artist, died Sunday in a drowning accident while on a family vacation in Costa Rica. He was 54.
Costa Rican National Police told ABC News that Warner’s official cause of death was asphyxia. Police said he died near Cocles, a beach in Limon province, after being caught by a high current. He was found Sunday afternoon.
The Associated Press reported that the local police initially reported that Warner “was rescued by people on the beach.” But first responders from Costa Rica’s Red Cross found him without vital signs, and he was taken to the morgue.

After six seasons on Fox, the decision was made in 2023 to cancel the medical drama, The Resident. The show premiered in 2018 and garnered a decent following before its run was abruptly cut short. Prior to the show's cancellation, speculation was quite high, and The Resident featured atop the standings for shows which viewers wanted to save. That did not materialize at the time, but now, those conversations have been reignited.
Two years after its cancellation, co-creator Amy Holden Jones and executive producer Andrew Chapman recently spoke about what would have happened had the show persisted into a seventh season. Speaking in a conversation with TV Insider, Jones revealed that should a revival become a possibility, much of the show's cast are willing to return to their scrubs, saying,
“I think we would love — and everybody involved would love — to just go back into the show. Unlike some of these spin-offs,...

Rachel Brosnahan and her husband Jason Ralph found love in 2013 on the set of a movie that many don’t know about. In fact, it was believed until recently that they met on the set of the series Manhattan. Brosnahan revealed during a 2022 interview with Town & Country Magazine that they met while filming I’m Obsessed With You: But You’ve Got to Leave Me Alone.
The indie movie had a small production team that lived in a dorm together. It was shot at Dartmouth College for the most part, alongside other locations in New York City and the Hamptons. It was the perfect setting for Brosnahan’s fairytale love story, even though they weren’t paired together in the movie.
However, Brosnahan told the outlet that she didn’t date him until after filming. She shared, “It was a hard no for me. Stay away, stay away. Okay, fine.

When the flagship series The Walking Deadended back in 2022, it had been running for 11 seasons and was on air for 12 years. At the time, we had spin-off shows set in the same universe prior to the show's ending, namely Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Now, though, we have multiple spin-offs centered on some of our favorite characters fighting through the zombie apocalypse. One is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The show, which was originally conceived as a Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) spin-off, has taken quite a journey to get these two characters back together. Now, we have a Season 3 release date!
At the end of Season 2, fans didn't know where Daryl and Carol were headed but in a new teaser trailer for the season, we get to see that Daryl and Carol have found themselves in Spain after sending Laurent...

The Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (you can read our review of the first season Here) has just revealed that the much-anticipated third season premieres Sunday, September 7th on AMC and AMC+.
The previous two seasons followed Daryl as he washed up, mysteriously, on the shores of France. He was eventually joined by his regular Walking Dead co-star Melissa McBride, who returned as fan favourite Carol. Season three takes our two heroes to Spain as they continue to fight the dead throughout Europe.
Recently, Reedus appeared in Len Wiseman’s John Wick spinoff, Ballerina. Check out this interview clip where he compared the polished action he had to try in that movie to his more rough-and-tumble antics on The Walking Dead.
In addition to Reedus, McBride, and Charrier, the show’s cast includes Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, Eriq Ebouaney, and Manish Dayal.

The event, held at Carondelet House, celebrated South Asian filmmakers who have received Oscars recognition this year and was attended by various South Asian filmmakers, actors and producers. Charithra Chandran, Manish Dayal and Lilly Singh were among those who attended the party.

It’s safe to say that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has had something of an identity problem. Initially conceived as a “roadshow” set in the US and centered on the characters of Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), the show then moved to France and lost McBride. The first season then built a new premise around Daryl stuck in France and contemplating a new life with nun Isabelle and her “chosen one” nephew Laurent. However, when McBride then returned to the show for the second season, it’s clear the decision was made to then pivot back to the original concept, but set in Europe.
These massive changes have left the show — and especially season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol — something of a jumble as the old version of the plot was phased out to make way for the new one. Despite this messy premise, the show...

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon showrunner David Zabel has addressed the potential for crossovers with other zombie spinoffs in the Europe-based show's future. Daryl Dixon season 3 will be taking the series to Spain, continuing the adventures of Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) as they continue their quest to get back home. Despite the show's overseas setting, it's continually acknowledged its place in the wider Walking Dead universe, with mentions of characters like Judith (Cailey Fleming) and locations such as the Commonwealth. This firmly establishes the franchise's continued acknowledgement of its shared zombie universe.
Speaking with CinemaBlend (via Yahoo), Zabel said that, despite having "free rein" over what happens in Daryl Dixon, he doubts he'd be able to use characters that are featured in the existing spinoffs. The showrunner offers the example of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) suddenly showing up, firmly establishing that anything which would break the canon...

After Melissa McBride's Carol took the bold step of flying to Europe in search of her best friend. The final chapter in The Book of Carol is now written, and rather than leaving Daryl behind and heading back to the Commonwealth with Ash (Manish Dayal) and Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), Carol will join her bestie, Daryl (Norman Reedus) for a trek across Europe in future seasons as they seek to return home. Director and executive producer Daniel Percival has discussed just how many episodes future seasons of the post-apocalyptic series will have.

Daryl Dixon season 2 ended with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) still on a journey to get home, after saving Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) by having him fly to America with Ash (Manish Dayal). Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 finale. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol has been a mostly solid follow-up to the first season, albeit with a story thats more contrived and at times messy. Season 2 does a lot in six episodes, leading to the overall flow feeling a bit rushed. The big moments, like the reunion of Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), do land with the emotional weight that such scenes deserve. This is thanks in large part to the performances of McBride and Reedus, who, along with a strong supporting cast, elevate their scenes even when the story stumbles.

In the season finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride’s O.G. zombie-fighters finally escape France, but not exactly as they hoped. Heading into the hour, the fan-favorite duo were set to split from one another, as clutch rescue pilot Ash (Manish Dayal) couldn’t fit them both on his plane. Daryl decides to stay, despite Carol wanting to take his place in the sacrifice play. In the end, both of them get to stick around, thanks to the last gasps of the French autocrat army showing up right before takeoff.
Outgunned, Daryl briefly appears outnumbered until Carol shows up right in the nick of time to save his hide.

In the pre-season promotion for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol, Norman Reedus repeatedly said he believed the finale was the best hour of The Walking Dead that had ever been made. Inevitably, it isn’t, but it’s a shame because while it cannot compete with the likes of "The Grove "or "Terminus," it’s not a bad episode. “Au Revoir Les Enfant” (Goodbye Children) gives us some vastly needed closure and the promise of a better future.
Much of the first half of the episode takes place at the racetrack where Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride) are deciding who will go on Ash’s (Manish Dayal) plane back to the US with Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi). As with so much of this season, Daryl’s motivations for offering to stay behind remain muddy. Is he offering to stay behind out of nobility, or does...

The following contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2, Episode 5, Vouloir, Cest Pouvoir, which premiered Sunday, Oct. 27 on AMC.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon gets itself back on track in Season 2, Episode 5. The damage has already been done after killing off two major characters in Episode 4, leaving people wondering where the story is supposed to go. Episode 5 picks up the pieces and has echoes of Season 1's charm, but lacks the qualities that viewers expect from a penultimate episode.
For shows like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, penultimate episodes are bigger events than the finale. In the world of The Walking Dead, the creatives' blood, sweat and tears are being saved for the very end. Daryl Dixon still needs to prepare for a large-scale ending that pushes the titular character and Carol Peletier to Spain in Season 3. The hiccup in Daryl and Carol's quest to...

“Looks like the future,” Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) says to Daryl (Norman Reedus) as they drive through Paris in the latest episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol, "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir." After the high emotions and climaxes of Episode 4, we spend much of this episode thinking about the future for the characters who have survived the cull so far.
Having lost the majority of the female cast in the previous two episodes, we return to the surviving menfolk. Codron (Romain Levi), it appears, has survived the war at the Nest and makes his way to Fallou’s (Eriq Ebouaney) camp for refuge, recovery and reparation. Romain Levi conveys a great deal of heart and depth in his performance, which works wonderfully with Laurent’s blank-slate openness, as the pair connect through their shared guilt and faith. Their scenes together are oddly touching, and actually create a...

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon -- The Book of Carol, we've seen Carol (Melissa McBride) travel across the world to Europe to reunite with her best friend and long-time companion Daryl (Norman Reedus). She's flown across the Atlantic with Ash (Manish Dayal), stopping off at Greenland along the way. And upon arriving in France, she's found herself in the midst of a revolution.
Whilst Carol has been ardently trying to locate him, Daryl himself has been in the centre of the conflicts in France. He and Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) have made a little surrogate family along with Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), a young boy whom many in the area believe to be the Messiah. Due to their steadfast determination to protect Laurent, both Daryl and Isabelle were put in prison inside Mont Saint-Michel. And just as Daryl breaks out and discovers that Isabelle was sadly lost in battle,...

[This story contains spoilers from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol season two, episode two.]
When The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol producer and writer David Zabel sat down to work with the rest of the team on breaking season two, six words immediately leapt to mind: “We’ve got some work to do.”
With two out of six season two episodes now released, the titular heroes have yet to meet face to face. For anyone feeling impatient, you’ll have to blame air travel in the zombie apocalypse. As Zabel and the writers started chipping away at story beats to bring Carol (Melissa McBride) from Maine to France, it became clear that she would need at least one major detour along the way.

Doubt has always been a major issue for characters in The Walking Dead; doubt over the kills they’ve made; doubt over who to trust; doubt over raising a family in the post-apocalyptic world — doubts can control and torture. “Moulin Rouge,” the second episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol focuses on some of the doubts that surround Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride). But by the end of the episode, it might be the audience left doubting.
At the Nest, in France, we find out that there is dissent in the ranks as some of the acolytes are losing hope in their promised salvation. Jacinta tells Losang (Joel de la Fuente) that people are starting to demand proof that kid-messiah Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) is the real deal, which requires him passing some kind of test that Losang is reluctant to push ahead with.

When it was announced that Melissa McBride was stepping away from The Walking Dead spinoff that she and Norman Reedus (as Daryl Dixon) were scheduled to lead, the reaction was fairly seismic. So when Carol (McBride) appeared in the final episode of season 1 of that spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the collective joy of the fandom was palpable. And the news that she would co-lead season 2, now titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol (try fitting that on a key chain) rejuvenated a flagging fandom.
Thankfully, for all concerned, McBride’s Carol lives up to every expectation the audience put on her small but mighty shoulders. We spend much of the opening episode, "La Gentillesse des Étrangers," in her company as she tries desperately and unflinchingly makes her way to France, the unlikely where she learns Daryl was shipped. Daryl, meanwhile, is metaphorically and physically exactly where we left him.

The second season of the hit AMC spinoff series “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” began with its premiere episode titled “The Kindness of Strangers.” The episode marked the return of fan favorite Carol Peletier, played by Melissa McBride, after she left the original “Walking Dead” series.
Carol’s comeback showed off her ability to survive dangerous situations. In one memorable scene, she escaped from a large group of walkers by rapidly building a shelter from greenhouse shelves. However, the episode focused more on Carol’s emotional state following the devastating loss of her daughter Sophia years ago on the original show. Viewers saw flashbacks of Sophia as a walker that stirred up Carol’s lingering grief.
This grief drove Carol’s actions in manipulating Ash, a kind pilot played by Manish Dayal. After Ash shared his own story of losing a son, Carol fabricated a tale that French officials took Sophia before the apocalypse.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Daryl Dixon season 2, episode 1.
Originally, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was conceived as a spinoff that would center on both Daryl and Carol, but due to some scheduling conflicts, Melissa McBride was only available to appear very briefly in season 1. This reworking ultimately worked in the shows favor, though, allowing the first season to focus solely on Daryl (Norman Reedus), using the stranger in a strange land trope to dig into his character. Now, season 2, aptly subtitled The Book of Carol, is able to give Carol its full attention.
