Welp, it was a nice run while it lasted. On May 12, 2025, Netflix pulled "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend" from the platform, completing its initially quiet efforts to remove all interactive specials. Unless the streamer has a change of heart and brings back "Bandersnatch" at some point in the future, viewers will no longer be able to go back in time to 1984 and control the life of Stefan Butler (Fionn Whitehead), a troubled young programmer who's working on a darkly ambitious Choose-Your-Own-Adventure PC game.
While it typically places somewhere in the middle in "Black Mirror" episode rankings, "Bandersnatch" broke new ground for the series upon its December 2018 release, and its importance to the franchise cannot be denied. It was the first (and may ultimately be the only) of its kind in "Black Mirror" -- an interactive movie with the same Choose-Your-Own-Adventure mechanics as the video...

Seven years after its release, Bandersnatch has been removed from Netflix.

And, quite frankly, we won’t stand for it.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, one of Netflix’s most popular interactive specials, is no longer available for fans to enjoy. It was one of the last two Interactive Specials (with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend) globally taken down from the platform on 12th May.
Although Black Mirror: Bandersnatch was not the first Netflix Interactive Special, it was a significant addition to the genre for the Ott giant. Providing different outcomes to different viewers as per their choices in the episode, it was an interestingly creepy experience. But it is all gone now as Netflix thinks that the technology is limiting them from focusing on new areas.

Netflix first entered the field of Interactive Stories in 2017 with Puss in Book, and went on to make a total of 24 Interactive Specials for its platform.

What Can Netflix Do With Black Mirror: Bandersnatch Instead Of Removal? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Streaming giant Netflix will soon remove its immensely popular interactive film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch from its Interactive Specials page, according to an earlier report by What’s On Netflix. The title will no longer be available on Netflix from May 12, 2025.
Earlier this year, two more interactive specials, namely Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls and You vs. Wild, were also removed. The removals are happening because Netflix wants to focus more on the mobile and cloud gaming segments. So, if you haven’t already watched/played Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, now’s the time to do that.

The seventh season of "Black Mirror" just dropped on Netflix on April 10, and it included something new for Charlie Brooker's anthology TV series: a true sequel to a previous installment. 2017's "USS Callister" was enormously popular when it premiered in season 4, so it makes sense that in season 7, we got "USS Callister: Into Infinity," a feature-length episode following up on that story. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, though, Brooker actually planned for another "Black Mirror" story to get a sequel first.
"I did work out the storyline for a completely different sequel for 'Bandersnatch,' which was going to be called 'Banderstruck,' but I never got to do it," Brooker revealed, specifying that he would have written a sequel to the show's innovative interactive special that came out in 2018. In that special, we, for lack of a better term, "control" main character Stefan Butler (Fionn Whitehead...

Black Mirror took the choose-your-own-adventure concept to a whole new level with 2018's Bandersnatch, the show's first interactive installment. Series creator Charlie Brooker confirmed the film isn't a one-off; there's already a sequel story in development.
Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker might revive his (unmade) Bandersnatch follow-up, now that the show has broken new ground with the "USS Callister" sequel. "I did work out the storyline for a completely different sequel for Bandersnatch, which was going to be called Banderstruck, but I never got to do it," he told Entertainment Weekly. He also hinted that the story is similar to the original, but not set in the 80s. "I might still revisit that well in some way, but it was about a slightly different era."
That seemed the premise of Season 7's "Plaything," which featured crossover characters from Bandersnatch; Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry reprised their characters in the episode,...

Charlie Brooker, the creator of Black Mirror, has shared that he once planned a sequel to the interactive movie Bandersnatch. The project was called Banderstruck, but it was never made — at least not yet.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brooker revealed, “I did work out the storyline for a completely different sequel for Bandersnatch, which was going to be called Banderstruck, but I never got to do it.”
Brooker didn’t share what the story was about, but he hinted that it would have taken place in a different time period. When asked if he could reveal what Banderstruck would’ve explored, he simply smiled and said, “No. Because I might still revisit that well in some way, but it was about a slightly different era.”
Bandersnatch came out in 2018 and was a choose-your-own-adventure-style movie on Netflix. It let viewers make choices for the main character, Stefan Butler,...

Black Mirror is always up to something, and they went all out with Season 7, from individual episode posters and a big press tour to an incredible fake marketing campaign for the in-universe VR technology, called Nubbin. Fans are delighted that they also made a full video game, the same one that's at the center of Episode 4, "Plaything." Black Mirror: Thronglets is real, and it's weird. A kind of 8-bit cocktail of Tamagotchi,Harvest Moon,Oregon Trail, and Ms-dos games, the game from the studio Night School and Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker mirrors the themes of "Plaything" by questioning the nature of power, individuality, and purpose. The description from Netflix reads as follows:
"[Thronglets] challenges players to hatch, evolve, and nurture hundreds of adorable creatures known as Thronglets. But beware, these cute critters won't just take over your phone; they could take over your life. As you feed, bathe, and entertain your Thronglets,...

The ending of Black Mirror episode 4 revealed why Cameron Walker got himself arrested for the murder he had committed some 40 years ago. He wanted to upload “The Throng” code to the central state computer so that self-evolving algorithms could get juicy processing capabilities, enabling them to broadcast a signal that will merge humanity with an advanced collective intelligence. In short, an algorithm will enslave humanity and turn them into mere puppets. They will get an upgrade and won’t be savages anymore. They won’t be able to think for themselves or have any conflict. They won’t need a name or language to understand each other, maybe just codes and numbers.
The bad news is that everyone in Cameron’s reality has likely turned into digital slaves. They were now under the control of an algorithm. However, the good news is Cameron’s reality isn’t the only timeline...

‘Black Mirror’ Season 7 rolls on with Episode 4, ‘Plaything,’ a story that digs into the grunge of the 1990s and drags it into a freaky near-future mess. This one’s got Charlie Brooker’s fingerprints all over it—tech gone wrong, human obsession, and a vibe that leaves you uneasy. We’re following Cameron, a guy whose life gets tangled up in a video game that’s more than just pixels on a screen. It’s got that ‘Black Mirror’ knack for making you question what’s real and what’s worth caring about.
Peter Capaldi takes the lead as an older Cameron, with Lewis Gribben playing his younger self, bouncing between two timelines that collide in a wild way. Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry pop in too, bringing back their ‘Bandersnatch’ roles as Colin Ritman and Mohan Thakur. It’s a trip down memory lane with a dark twist, and...

Charlie Brooker was on to something when he created Black Mirror, a British anthology series that explores the dark side of technology and its impact on modern society. While initially a Channel 4 series, the show gained international recognition after Netflix picked it up, allowing Brooker to expand his vision even further. Six seasons have been released so far, with a highly anticipated seventh season set to be released on the streaming platform soon. We're talking about a batch of new episodes available to stream tomorrow!
Unlike the previous season, which had five episodes, Black Mirror season 7 will feature one additional episode, bringing the total to six episodes. This marks the first time since the fourth season that the show has featured this many episodes. Brooker has referred to this installment as having a touch of "Og Black Mirror." Over a decade into making “Black Mirror,” creator Charlie Brooker’s goal was to make episodes that felt like “O.G. Black Mirror.”
“Last season started out as a season called ‘Red Mirror,’ they were all going to be horror, crime, supernatural stories, etc. And then I inconveniently thought up the episode ‘Joan is Awful,’ which was none of those things and was a ‘Black Mirror’ episode,” Brooker told TheWrap.
“[This year,] I wanted every story to be about the kind of technical breakthrough that explodes into some characters’ lives and upends everything,” he added.
“That’s the basic starting point — it was back to basics.”
Brooker quite literally went back to basics by pursuing a sequel episode for “USS Callister,” which first debuted in 2017 with Season 4, which he said the original episode naturally called for. “They’d literally flown to a wormhole, and we’re in a whole new universe, and...

Breaking news: Charlie Brooker is developing a new piece of tech that will redefine reality.
The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday received in their inbox the ultimate Easter egg to promote season seven: A leaked internal and confidential email from Tckr Systems Communications preparing the Black Mirror creator for the launch of a new product called Nubbin.
Black Mirror viewers will recognize the Nubbin as the headpiece that many characters across six (and soon to be seven) seasons of the Netflix dystopian series place on their temple before they head into some sort of immersive escapade with their virtual consciousness.
(If you haven’t guessed by now, this is not a real product announcement. But it is a real Easter egg… so, let’s keep going!)
Included in the “leaked” email is a live website introducing the implantable technology, while also making users aware of its risks. [Writers note: Anyone interested in Nubbin should check out the FAQs section, and then go watch season six episode “Joan Is Awful” before engaging with this product.]

The new season of Black Mirror is said to be a return — in more ways than one. In the newly released trailer for Season 7, it looks like more than a few characters and episodes will be revisited, including the now iconic ''USS Callister" episode from Season 4. And according to series creator Charlie Brooker, this new batch of episodes will also be a return to form for fans of the darkly satirical and at-times harrowing anthology series.
Calling the forthcoming season "a little bit Og Black Mirror," Brooker noted that Season 7 — which is slated to hit Netflix on April 10, 2025, goes "back to basics in many ways. They're all sci-fi stories," a welcome change after the past few seasons have focused more on the horror aspect than anything. "There's definitely some horrifying things that occur," he added, "but maybe not in an overt horror-movie way. There's definitely some disturbing content in it.

Netflix has officially unveiled the trailer for the upcoming Season 7. With the trailer release also came a series of first-look photos from Charlie Brooker’s epic Netflix anthology, as well as an announcement of all the new and returning cast members. Among them is The Bear's Will Poulter.
Netflix officially announced that Black Mirror Season 7 will consist of six episodes and is set to premiere on the platform on April 10.
"You can expect a mix of genres and styles," the show's creator teased during Netflix’s annual Geeked Week festival in September, per Tudum. "We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional."

"Black Mirror" just dropped a trailer for its seventh season, providing not only a closer look at the show's six new episodes but also their release date on Netflix.
On April 10, Netflix will drop six installments of Charlie Brooker's critically acclaimed and massively popular anthology series, and even though we already know that this season of "Black Mirror" would break tradition and return to a previous story — specifically, the beloved season 4 episode "U.S.S. Callister," which stars Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Billy Magnussen, and more — it's still pretty exciting to see those stars reappear in this trailer. Not only that, but Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry, who appeared in the standalone interactive special "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch," also seem to show up in the trailer as their "Bandersnatch" characters Colin Ritman and Mohan Thakur. That means we may be getting another glimpse at that particular corner of the "Black Mirror" universe as well.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” that you may be exposed to even if you’ve watched it, due to how many different versions of the interactive film exist.)
“Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” dropped on Netflix at 12 p.m. Pt/3 a.m. Et on Friday — and a bunch of (totally not crazy) people stayed up to experience the Charlie Brooker-created anthology series’ very first “Choose Your Own Adventure” installment as soon as it launched.
If you weren’t willing to sacrifice your sleep to see what all the fuss was about, don’t worry, because TheWrap went through several viewings of the interactive story that follows ’80s programmer Stefan (Fionn Whitehead) and his attempts to adapt the fantasy novel “Bandersnatch” into a video game. And in the wee small hours, we unearthed tons of references to previous “Black Mirror” episodes buried inside the movie.
