However, they’re not the only ones after the bounty.

The last is presented by Altered Innocence, whose owner Frank Jaffe spoke with Deadline about why he wanted to give Noe’s unusual 2019 director’s cut — of the Argentinian/French director’s disturbing 2002 film Irreversible — a release Stateside. “It’s a film that needs to be seen. Or made available,” he said. StudioCanal approached him twice. “They said, ‘No one is brave enough to take on this film. Will you?’” And “there is an audience for it…Tickets are selling.”

XYZ Films has acquired writer-director Michelle Garza Cervera’s hotly anticipated breakout feature “Huesera” for theatrical release in North America and has released the first teaser and poster for the film.

“Huesera” is one of the first slate of titles under its new distribution arm and an early pick-up ahead of the Tribeca Film Festival, where the film will world premiere.

The film follows Valeria, whose joy with becoming pregnant dissolves as she is cursed by a dark power. As danger surrounds her, she’s forced deeper into the occult, and a pact with a coven of witches may be her only hope. Amazon Prime Video announced that the comedy special “Yearly Departed” will return for its second special this December, this time hosted by Yvonne Orji.

In a new teaser (embedded above), we catch our first glimpse of the third season, as war breaks out after the splintering of Felix’s smuggling empire. The conflict is described via voiceover as “a war that would change Mexico and drug trafficking forever.”

Netflix announced that the third and final season of “Narcos: Mexico” will premiere on Nov. 5 and released some first looks at the episodes.

This third and final season follows the war that breaks out after Felix’s arrest and the new Mexican kingpins who emerge as newly independent cartels navigate political turmoil and escalating violence.

Returning series regulars include Scoot McNairy, José María Yázpik, Alfonso Dosal, Mayra Hermosillo, Matt Letscher, Manuel Masalva, Alejandro Edda and Gorka Lasaosa. New cast members include Luis Gerardo Méndez, Alberto Guerra and Luisa Rubino, with guest star Bad Bunny aka Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio.

Executive producers on the series are Sidonie Dumas; Christophe Riandee; Nicolas Atlan; José Padilha; Doug Miro; Andrés Baiz, who also directs; Eric Newman and showrunner Carlo Bernard. Netflix has officially announced that Bad Bunny will have a guest role on the upcoming third season of Narcos: Mexico.

Per a release, Bad Bunny will play Arturo “Kitty” Paez, a member of the so-called Narco Juniors gang run by Ramon Arellano Felix (Manuel Masalva). The gang is filled with “rich, well connected kids from upper society who fell in with the cartel life for the money, drugs, and violence.”

Bad Bunny first revealed that he was involved in Narcos: Mexico in a Rolling Stone cover story back in May.

The streamer has confirmed that a third season has been ordered, almost nine months after the sophomore run dropped.

There will be some changes behind-the-scenes ahead of the new season.

Series co-creator Carlo Bernard is taking over as showrunner reins from the longtime Narcos boss Eric Newman.

Newman is currently under an overall deal with the streamer on both the feature side and the television side and he will segue into overseeing a broadening Netflix slate that includes the previously announced opioid TV drama Painkiller, Escape From Spiderhead starring Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller, and The Upper World starring Daniel Kaluuya.

Newman will continue to executive produce alongside Bernard and Jose Padilha, so he will still have input on the show.

In addition, Wagner Moura, who starred as Pablo Escobar during the first two seasons of Narcos, will return to the series, directing two episodes in the new season.

Netflix has ordered a third season of drug-trafficking drama series Narcos: Mexico. When it returns it will be without series lead Diego Luna, who portrayed drug cartel leader Félix Gallardo, and with a new showrunner.

Season 2 ended with Luna’s Gallardo sentenced to prison for his drug trafficking crimes and there had been much speculation he would not return if the series was renewed for a third season. Luna is set to reprise his Cassian Andor character in Disney+’s Star Wars spinoff series Rogue One, which is currently in pre-production.

“Narcos: Mexico” has been renewed for Season 3 at Netflix.

Along with the renewal, Netflix announced that Wagner Moura — who played Pablo Escobar in the first two seasons of “Narcos” — will board Season 3 in order to direct two episodes of the season.

In addition, series showrunner Eric Newman will exit that role after five seasons and turn things over to series co-creator Carlos Bernard.

Netflix’s popular drug trafficking drama “Narcos” is getting an extreme makeover for its upcoming fourth season. The series is relaunching as “Narcos: Mexico,” which will move the narrative from Colombia to Mexico and feature an all new storyline and cast. The streaming giant has revealed a first look at the upcoming series with actors Michael Peña and Diego Luna on opposite ends of the drug war.

“Narcos: Mexico” is set in the 1980s and tracks the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel, led by Félix Gallardo (Luna). Gallardo built the cartel into Mexico’s biggest drug empire.
