Ransom Canyon has a premiere date. The western drama will premiere in April, and Netflix has released first-look photos and a teaser for the new series, which is inspired by the Jodi Thomas novel.

Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Andrew Liner, Marianly Tejada, Garrett Wareing, and Jack Schumacher star in the series created by April Blair. The series’ recurring cast includes Kate Burton, Casey W. “Ransom Canyon,” a new modern western drama series starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, will debut April 17 on Netflix.

According to a press release, the series will follow three ranching family dynasties “locked in a contest for control of their land, their lives and legacies” in Ransom Canyon, Texas. Duhamel will play Staten Kirkland, a “stoic” rancher who’s “healing from heartbreaking loss” and on a quest for vengeance.

He’s joined by Minka Kelly as Quinn O’Grady, a family friend and the owner of a local dancehall. Natalie Zea and Eoin Macken’s sci-fi series on NBC, La Brea, ended after a three-season run in 2024. The series begins when a massive sinkhole opens at the La Brea Tar Pits in LA and pulls people, vehicles, and buildings into a time portal. The main characters end up in a location in 10,000 BC. The survivors’ search for a way back forms the plot of the three seasons.

There was no way the network could’ve pushed for more seasons, albeit a fourth season, after the challenges faced during the production of Season 3. The third season was much shorter than the first two seasons, with just six episodes as opposed to the 10 and 14 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2.

The 2023–2024 TV season was certainly an odd one. With the writers strike and then the actors strike throughout the summer and fall of 2023, it made it much harder to get our favorite shows back. Most of them were held for the midseason, but others were able to get fall slots.

You would think that the fall slots would allow for a success. Sadly, that wasn’t the case for one series in particular. Meanwhile, another was canceled even before the strike action started, but didn’t officially end until 2024.

I’ve watched many Hallmark holiday films, and Hanukkah on the Rocks stood out as one of the best. It was charming, witty, and fun, making viewers smile.

Around 2019, the Hallmark Channel started integrating Hanukkah into their Countdown to Christmas line-up to celebrate how others celebrate the holidays.

While the previous movies were terrific, there is something special about Hanukkah on the Rocks, and part of that is the cast. Stacey Farber (Virgin River) and Daren Kagasoff (The Villiage) star in this holiday film.

Farber was in A Season For Family in 2023, but this is Kagasoff’s Hallmark debut, and they had instant chemistry.

Farber plays Tory, a corporate lawyer who gets laid off right before the holidays. Kagasoff portrays Jay, a radiologist, who returns home to try and convince his grandfather Sam to retire in Florida.

The importance of traditions and family relationships makes Hanukkah on the Rocks unique.

A three-season sci-fi series, which is led by one of the stars of Justified, has become a global hit on Netflix. The streamer has had some success with licensed sci-fi shows that originally aired elsewhere, with the most impactful likely being the mystery drama Manifest. Thanks to its performance on Netflix, Manifest was ultimately able to bow out with a proper final season despite initially being cancelled by NBC.

The horror sci-fi From, which U.S. viewers stream on MGM+, is available in some countries on Netflix, where it has regularly appeared in the platform's weekly top ten lists. The same is true for Lost, which is much more widely available, including in the U.S., and has experienced a bit of a cultural reemergence since being licensed. A far more recent sci-fi drama is showing early signs of enjoying the same trajectory.

La Brea Is Trending On Netflix's Global...

After Manifest, another high-concept, serialized drama that ran on NBC for 3 seasons is making an impressive debut on Netflix. Season 1 of La Brea, starring Natalie Zea and Eoin Macken, was the #3 most watched English-language series globally on Netflix for the week of Dec. 2. That was despite the sci-fi drama being available only in selected countries, excluding the U.S., the UK, Brazil and other top Netflix territories.

La Brea (5 million views) was only bested on the weekly list by Last week’s #1, limited series The Madness (13.3M) and the high-profile new Kiera Knightly thriller drama Black Doves (10.8M). Unlike Manifest, which went on to produce a final season for Netflix after a dramatic cancellation by NBC, the Universal TV-produced La Brea wrapped its story with its abbreviated third season on the broadcast network.

Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas is in full swing, and Tis the Season to be Irish transports viewers to Ireland.

Hallmark fans of holiday and destination films will appreciate this one because the scenery is gorgeous and includes opposites that attract romance and plenty of other fulfilling relationships.

Fiona Gubelmann (The Good Doctor) and Eoin Macken (La Brea) star in this holiday film. Due to her filming schedule, Gubelmann hasn’t appeared in a Hallmark film in several years, while this is Macken’s first Hallmark film.

Hallmark is headed to Ireland in the new Christmas romcom ‘Tis The Season To Be Irish. This stars Fiona Gubelmann and Eion Macken. According to TV Insider, this is what it is about. Eoin Macken’s going from being attacked by dinosaurs while trapped in 10,000 BC on La Brea to series regular on Netflix’s Ransom Canyon. James Brolin (Sweet Tooth) and Lizzy Greene (A Million Little Things) are also onboard the first season of the 10-episode drama.

The three new series regulars join previously announced cast members Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly in the new series from writer, executive producer, and creator April Blair (Wednesday). Amanda Marsalis will direct the first two episodes.

James Brolin, Lizzy Greene (“A Million Little Things”), and Eoin Macken (“La Brea”) are set to join Netflix’s upcoming romantic drama “Ransom Canyon,” Variety has confirmed.

They join previously announced leads Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. Kelly will portray Quinn, a character who “has often found herself in the shadow of others, but after a stint in New York pursuing her career as a concert pianist, she has returned to Ransom Canyon to carve out a new path for herself.”
