Following this week’s historic all-Canadian special, Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble, it was announced today that more than $6 million has been raised to date to provide immediate support to Food Banks Canada during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With donations still being tallied, more than 140,000 individuals were inspired and reached out to support the good works by local food banks. Canadians can continue to donate to Food Banks Canada by texting Covid to 30333 or visiting FoodBanksCanada.ca/StrongerTogether.

More than four dozen big-name Canadians have signed on for the historic broadcast Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble, it was announced today.

Airing commercial-free Sunday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. across all markets/7 p.m. Nt and now on hundreds of platforms, Canadian artists, activists, actors, and athletes will share their stories of hope and inspiration in a national salute to frontline workers combatting Covid-19 during the 90-minute show.

The unprecedented event, in support of Food Banks Canada, has become the biggest multi-platform broadcast in Canadian history, with 15 broadcasting groups led by Bell Media, CBC/Radio-Canada, Corus Entertainment, Groupe V Média, and Rogers Sports & Media presenting the star-studded show on hundreds of TV, radio, streaming, and on demand platforms.

With a mix of music, messages, and more, Stronger Together, Tous Ensembles features Canadian talent uniting to show everyone working on the front lines of this pandemic that we are all #StrongerTogether.

Canadian speedskater Brittany Schussler has landed in hot water after she posted a selfie on Twitter of herself posing with Russian President Vlladimir Putin.

Putin, who is arguably the most controversial figure of these 2014 Winter Olympics, made the rounds on the night of Friday, Feb. 14, visiting both Canada House and USA House. As host, Putin welcomed the athletes to his country, met a few athletes and carried on with his night.

After Putin’s visit, Schussler, a speedskater who specializes in the 1,500-meter race, shared the photo with the caption “I should have asked him to be my Valentine.”

The tweet has since been deleted, but others copied the photo and have circulated it online.
