Every R. L. Stine Movie Ranked
Image
Before kids got into Stephen King, Scholastic Book Fairs introduced them to the tween horror maestro: R.L. Stine. The author's best known for his "Goosebumps" books, an anthology series where each book introduced a new horror for some intrepid young protagonist to confront. Werewolves, mud monsters, and Slappy the dummy, the last of whom Stine never understood the fanbase for, all gave us nightmares. But hey, at least we were reading!

"Goosebumps" is far from Stine's only enterprise, as he's also the visionary behind the "Fear Street" and "Mostly Ghostly" books, too. It should come as no surprise that many of his works have been adapted into films and TV shows over the years. Some you've undoubtedly heard of before while others will make you go, "Wait, that's an R.L. Stine project?"

Consider it homework to expand your Stine repertoire, and in case you don't have the time to watch all of them,...

Godzilla Show's Kurt Russell & Son Wyatt Russell Casting Addressed By Director
Image
Director and executive producer Matt Shakman discusses how the decision was made to cast Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell as the same character in different time periods in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. While the production considered casting two unrelated actors, the duo of Kurt and Wyatt emerged as the best option, with both actors sharing a resemblance in addition to their own individual talents. The casting speaks to the character-centric approach the series might be taking, with the 1950s-set storyline exploring humanity's first major encounter with Godzilla.

Matt Shakman, executive producer and director of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, addresses the casting of Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell, as the same character in the upcoming series. Set to release on Apple TV Plus next month, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place after the events of 2014's Godzilla, following two siblings who uncover secrets about the mysterious organization known as Monarch.

Spinning Out Season 2: Cancelation, Renewal Chances & Everything We Know
Image
Spinning Out season 2 was canceled by Netflix due to low viewership figures during its first season, leading to disappointment for fans who were left with unanswered questions from the cliffhanger ending. The decision to cancel the show after only a month contributed to Netflix's reputation for early cancellations, although its renewal policy has become more forgiving since then. While it's not impossible for Spinning Out season 2 to happen, the slim chances of it being renewed four years after its cancellation would require significant fan campaigning and finding a new network or streaming platform to pick it up.

Spinning Out season 2 never arrived on Netflix, as the streamer canceled the Kaya Scoldario-led ice skating drama barely a month after it debuted. Release and canceled in 2020, Spinning Out was created by Samantha Stratton and starred Scoldario as young ice skater Kat. Kat’s Olympic aspirations, bipolar disorder, pressure from mother Carol (January Jones...

To Think With Hands: The Cinema of Josephine Decker
Josephine Decker's Madeline's Madeline is having its exclusive online premiere on Mubi in the United Kingdom. It is showing May 10 – June 8, 2019, and a retrospective of Decker's work is showing May 7 – June 27, 2019.With only three features under her belt, Josephine Decker has already established herself as one of the most exhilarating young American filmmakers to have emerged in the 21st century. An actress, writer, director, and multimedia artist, Decker rose to prominence as a performer in a series of films directed by micro-budget wunderkind Joe Swanberg, and although her own directorial work clearly bears signs of the mumblecore aesthetic—handheld Dslr camerawork, improvised dialogue, non-professional actors, frank sexuality, an emphasis on performers and their bodies, an infectious Diy attitude—it also rejects the movement’s slavish adherence to naturalism. Instead, Decker’s cinema occupies a strange position between narrative and experimental cinema, employing intricate strategies of pictorial, aural, and temporal...

Nick Kroll & Adam Scott in First Trailer for Comedy 'My Blind Brother'
"Honestly, who cares? I can't trust my feelings." Starz Media & Orion Pictures have released a trailer for the comedy My Blind Brother, about a romantic rivalry between two brothers. Adam Scott stars as the more handsome, athletic sibling along with Nick Kroll as his brother who has always been by his side most of his life. They both fall for the same woman, comedian powerhouse Jenny Slate, causing some chaos that leads to shenanigans which is meant to make people laugh. The cast includes Zoe Kazan, Talia Tabin and Charlie Hewson. While this doesn't look as bad as it sounds, it doesn't look that great either, with a few sparse moments of genuine comedy amidst some awkward scenes of cheesiness. At least it has Jenny Slate. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Sophie Goodhart's My Blind Brother, direct from YouTube: Bill (Nick Kroll) has always lived in the...

Cam Girls Web Series Takes You Inside The Lives Of The World’s… Newest Profession
The world of Web Series is about as diverse as it gets. From format, to genre, to production quality, they’re everywhere, and some of them take the opportunity to go for a risk.

Being un-Google-able is a risk, as is being a fairly tame show with a name like Cam Girls, but the series, which hits June 1st is surprisingly layered for something that only has 4-6 minutes to get things done.

The story revolves around Liv (Kate Bond), and the journey that leads her to becoming a Cam Girl. As she mentions in the trailer, she starts at the beginning. It’s actually a well-developed road that highlights the odd, and unforeseeable turns our lives may take. A new job, a new friend, a friend’s husband who has spy cams all over his house… the usual.

The show isn’t exactly comedic, or dramatic, and those who...

Gist: Scott will play a handsome man who gets all the women and is the perfect athlete–even though he’s blind. Kroll plays his less handsome brother, whose role in life is to serve as his brother’s eyes.

Second Annual First Time Fest
The second installment of the First Time Fest, the Second Time Around, took place in New York City from April 3rd to April 7th where ten first time filmmakers were able to showcase their films and possibly be in competition to receive distribution of their films by Cinema Libre Studios. Since its debut in March of last year, the First Time Fest has grown to honor and embrace first time filmmakers for their efforts in trying to make their first work and trying to get recognized in an ever difficult field of art.

Johanna Bennett and Mandy Ward thought up of the idea for this type of film festival seven years ago when they realized that no other event had honored the first time filmmaker. Taking this idea in mind, they agreed to bring these newcomers to the field and give them advice as well as bring them closer to...

‘The Bleeding House’ Review
Stars: Alexandra Chando, Nina Lisandrello, Patrick Breen, Richard Bekins, Betsy Aidem, Charlie Hewson, Court Young, Henderson Wade, Victoria Dalpe | Written and Directed by Philip Gelatt

The Bleeding House is a mystery horror movie directed by Philip Gelatt, a director who hasn’t done anything else as far as research can tell, as a director. Gelatt also wrote the screenplay to the movie. The film, originally titled “The Bleeding” was released in the Us in 2011. I remember seeing the cover-art for this film a few months ago and it stood out, the white and red silhouette of a man holding a suitcase on a black background. It’s a great cover for a film that I otherwise knew nothing about.

The plot of the film is intriguing from the start. A family in a country home appear to be battling something from their past, attempting to start fresh. A stranger stops...

The Bleeding House - Tribeca Film Festival Review
A good-hearted try at a bloody slasher flick falls short of a full pint. Marilyn and Matt Smith have a troubled marriage. They fight all the time and their daughter Gloria seems a bit off. She decorates her room with insects. Their son Quentin has the Iq of a toaster and is plotting to run away from home with his girlfriend Lynne. Murky incidents such as odd house fires and furtive sexual encounters fill the Smith's family heritage. This should be good. Unfortunately, Philip Gelatt.s directorial debut .The Bleeding House. is a couple cards short of a full house. The lack of terror is not the fault of supporting actors Alexandra Chando, Nina Lisandrello, Richard Bekins, Charlie Hewson and...
