‘Ghosts’ at Sdcc: Show’s Stars Want Mark Hamill as the Devil, Tease More Guests for Season 5 (Video)
Ghosts may not return for Season 5 until October, but the stars of CBS‘s hit comedy were spilling all of the need-to-know details about the upcoming chapter during their visit to the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine San Diego Comic-Con studio. Utkarsh Ambudkar, who plays living chef and B&b proprietor Jay, joined costars Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, and Devan Chandler Long, who portray Woodstone-bound spirits, jazz singer Alberta, Wall Street bro Trevor, and Viking Thorfinn, were all on site to spill teases on the latest season. As fans will recall, CBS renewed the series for Seasons 5 and 6 back in February 2025, promising viewers plenty of excitement in the years to come. As they sat down for an interview, the stars got candid about Jay’s future after his unintentional deal with demon Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh), who they’d love to see in future roles, and much more. When...

The end of Ghosts Season 4 left us on quite an interesting cliffhanger with not only Jay’s life but his eternal soul hanging in the balance. When Season 5 returns in a few months, we can expect to see the ghosts of Woodstone rally around Jay as they all must find a way to get him out of his contract with Elias. At San Diego Comic-Con, the cast of the hit sitcom stopped by the Collider studio for a delightful conversation with Perri Nemiroff, who asked Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, and Devan Chandler Long how their characters may contribute to the rescue plan.
Pinnock, who plays 1920s jazz singer Alberta, chimed in immediately, saying she’d be more than willing to go to hell to save Jay, whom she thinks of as a nephew. “Alberta wants to go to hell. I know that for sure. I wanna see what this universe looks like.

As we count down the weeks until GhostsSeason 5 premieres on CBS, some of the cast of the hit sitcom took to San Diego Comic-Con this weekend to give us our first taste of what to expect from the new season. Following a panel full of exciting announcements, including the return of Trevor’s daughter Abby (Gideon Adlon), a new Halloween episode, and more of Bela (Punam Patel) helping around Woodstone, Asher Grodman, Danielle Pinnock, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Devan Chandler Long stopped by the Collider studio for a delightful chat with Perri Nemiroff.
During their wide-ranging conversation, Nemiroff made sure to ask Grodman about Trevor’s ever-evolving relationship with Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), inquiring whether they’re stronger as “power friends” or as a “power couple.” To Grodman, whatever label they decide to give their complex and captivating relationship comes secondary to the tension and connection between Trevor and Hetty. Just before San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Ghostsshowrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman’s new vampire comedy series Eternally Yourshad been given a pilot order. When I spoke with Port and Wiseman back in May, they revealed that they’d originally written the pilot for the series a decade ago, and while it didn’t get picked up at the time, its existence is why they were tapped to work on the American adaptation of Ghosts.
When the cast came by the Collider studio this weekend at Sdcc, Perri Nemirofftook the opportunity to pose the question of a shared universe to Asher Grodman, Danielle Pinnock, Utkarsh Ambudkar, andDevan Chandler Long, all of whom were extremely on board. “I hope so,” said Ambudkar, rooting for Port and Wiseman to turn the two shows into a franchise. “Yeah," Ambudkar continued, "that'd be so exciting if these guys can make their own little universe,...

ScreenRant's Rachel Foertsch is on hand at the Ghosts panel at San Diego Comic-Con and reveals that a story in the upcoming season could see a new relationship between one of the human characters and one of the ghost characters in the series. The comedy already features complicated dynamics between its ghost and human characters who share a home.
According to showrunner Joe Wiseman, Ghosts season 5 will see Bela (Punam Patel) taking on a larger role at the restaurant in the series. Bela has already recurred throughout the show thanks to her connection to her brother Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) and the ghost Trevor (Asher Grodman).
Now, she will take on an even bigger role at Jay's restaurant and start her own event business. With that larger role in Ghosts season 5 comes "an interesting relationship with a ghost who's not Trevor" for Bela.

In one of our favorite Sdcc traditions, the cast of Ghoststook to the stage in Ballroom 20 to preview their highly anticipated return in Season 5. Alongside series showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, Asher Grodman, Danielle Pinnock, Devan Chandler Long, and Utkarsh Ambudkar joined panel host and frequent Ghosts guest star Punam Patel for a delightful and surprising conversation filled with some delicious teases of what’s to come when the show returns to CBS on October 16.
The cast announced that not only will we be getting another Halloween episode featuring the ghosts, but that the mummy that was briefly mentioned in the last Halloween special will be playing a major role. Not only that, but Mary Holland's Puritan ghost Patience will be back — according to the cast, she'll have a "showdown" with Hetty's husband, Elias, and some of the ghosts she mentioned at the beginning of Season 4 will...

At the end of Season 4 of Ghosts, following a terrifying cliffhanger for Jay, the series left us with a sweet treat as Pete (Richie Moriarty) and Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) finally shared a kiss in the last moments of the finale. Pete has been pining for Alberta since Season 1, but Alberta only realized she reciprocated his feelings a few episodes ago. In Season 5, which premieres on CBS on October 16, Pete and Alberta will have to navigate this new dynamic as their opposites-attract relationship finally sets sail.
During the Collider Ladies Night panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Perri Nemiroff asked Danielle Pinnock about the kiss and how we can expect it to shape Alberta’s story in Season 5. Confessing that the bootlegging jazz singer is now in her “soft girl era,” Pinnock told the audience:

If you're obsessed with the afterlife of Ghosts, then prepare for a lifetime of more laughs with Joe Port and Joe Wiseman's new comedy series. The co-creators and executive producers of the hit CBS series Ghosts are developing another show, and CBS has ordered a pilot for it. Titled Eternally Yours, it is also set in a supernatural world, but this time, it features the undead rather than the just dead. Eternally Yours tells the story of two vampires who have been married for 500 years. However, their love is tested when their daughter begins dating a human. The show does not have a premiere date yet, and no cast has been announced. Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, and Jason Wang serve as executive producers on the project.

Is a Ghosts and Young Sheldon crossover on the horizon? The stars of both shows are expressing interest in the possibility, as they shared some fun social media banter about the idea. In an Instagram story posted by Young Sheldon‘s Iain Armitage, the actor shared a selfie of himself and Ghosts‘ Asher Grodman, captioning it, “One of my favorite people to randomly run into! We keep having these @youngsheldoncbs/@ghostscbs crossover moments!” Grodman went on to repost Armitage’s story, adding, “Right back at ya bud! Raise your hand if you also think @iain needs to be on @ghostscbs Asap.” Armitage responded to Grodman with an image of himself in character as Sheldon Cooper raising his hand, “Here’s me raising my hand,” Armitage captioned the image that Grodman also shared on his page. As Young Sheldon fans know, Armtiage played Sheldon Cooper for seven seasons on the CBS...

The possibility of Iain Armitage coming back to network TV after Young Sheldon’s end is floated in an Instagram story by a CBS sitcom star. Ever since Young Sheldon’s ending, Armitage hasn’t appeared on network television. The Big Bang Theory prequel ending with Sheldon going to Caltech made Armitage’s appearance in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage difficult.
In a playful exchange over Iain Armitage and Asher Grodman’s Instagram stories, the Ghosts star suggests the perfect comeback role for the Young Sheldon star by proposing Armitage’s appearance in the ongoing CBS sitcom via a guest-starring capacity. Armitage’s answer shows his enthusiasm at the idea through the perfect still picturing Sheldon with his hand raised from Young Sheldon.
Grodman’s proposal to have Armitage guest-star on Ghosts is a fun, unexpected alternative to that. See Grodman’s posts below:

The colorful historical characters of the Ghosts TV series may be dead, but their show certainly isn't. The sitcom has been a big hit for CBS in the past, but nothing's guaranteed these days, especially in the television industry. The original UK version of the series ended after 34 episodes, and the US version has already surpassed that number. Will Ghosts be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned.

A head-scratching bit of lore lingering from Ghosts season 4 gets an update from co-showrunner Joe Port. The supernatural comedy has been renewed for two additional installments at CBS, meaning that Ghosts season 5 will get the chance to pick up on the fact that death is now hunting Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), but there are even more unanswered questions.
One of those questions connects to Sass (Román Zaragoza). His girlfriend, Joan (played by Taylor Ortega), can roam more freely despite the fact that the show's lore dictates that spirits are generally confined to the places where they died.
In an update from TVLine, showrunner and executive producer Joe Port connected Joan's powers to Pete's (played by Richie Moriarty). Port, who serves as showrunner with fellow co-creator Joe Wiseman, teased that there will be more to learn about Joan's powers. Read his quote below:

Ghosts Season 4 may be over, but the cast of CBS‘s comedy is already looking to the future, and TV Insider caught up with several of the stars at the network’s CBS Fest 2025 to discuss what’s next. As viewers will recall, Season 4 concluded with a major cliffhanger as it was revealed Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) had unknowingly signed away his soul to hell thanks to demon Elias (Matt Walsh). When Sam (Rose McIver) informed Jay that Elias was Hetty’s (Rebecca Wisocky) ex, who had gone to hell and somehow reemerged in a visible form, the chef realized the stakes of his situation. With the threat of Elias’ promise to reap Jay’s soul sooner rather than later looming over Woodstone, it’s unclear how the demon’s attempts to kill Jay will manifest in Season 5. In the meantime, Ambudkar and McIver, Asher Grodman, and Sheila Carrasco, who play...

Is there love after life? According to Ghosts, the answer is a resounding “Yes!”
Over the CBS comedy’s run, the show’s many spirits have paired up (Thor and Flower), hooked up (Trevor and Hetty) or almost gotten hitched (Isaac and Nigel). In the Season 4 finale, a new twosome took a big step forward when Alberta realized her feelings for Pete and they shared a kiss after he broke up with girlfriend Donna. Add in Sasappis’ recent romance with 1940s screenwriter Joan, and there’s no longer a ghost who hasn’t experienced some kind of romantic storyline.

Across 22 episodes, GhostsSeason 4 brought us some new sides of our favorite characters. After being stuck in a well for a significant portion of Season 3 while actress Sheila Carrascowas on maternity leave, Flower stepped into the spotlight a few times in Season 4 to show off a side of the perma-fried hippie that we've never seen before. After sharing some revelations about her past with the cult, Flower has gained a bit of confidence, allowing her to go head to head with two of the house's most powerful — and most conniving — ghosts. During the latest episode of Collider Ladies Night, Carrasco spoke with series host Perri Nemiroff about getting to deliver those more authoritative moments for her typically rather aloof character.
In Season 4, Episode 18, "Smooching and Smushing," Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) and Trevor (Asher Grodman) attempt to teach Flower a lesson by showing her how having money would corrupt even her charity-driven heart.

Ghosts took some big swings in its fourth season with demons, deaths, romances, and the opening of Jay's restaurant. Along with the opening of the restaurant, the series introduced a handful of new characters working as the cooks, one of whom has a particular affinity for the devil's lettuce. For Season 4, Episode 20, "I Know What You Did Thirty-Seven Summers Ago," Ghosts went all in for the "420" holiday, expanding the ghost lore to allow the spirits of Woodstone to get high with Gabe (Dustin Ybarra), by sitting in his car while he has a little hotboxing session before — and after — work.
One of our favorite ghosts, Flower, spends every episode on cloud nine, and actress Sheila Carrasco sent us over the moon when she spoke about filming the hilarious stinger for the end of that episode. Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for the Ghosts Season 4 finale.
GhostsSeason 4 has come to a close. After 22 episodes of laughs and undead shenanigans, we've been left on the edge of our seats awaiting the return of Season 5 this fall. While the main cliffhanger revolves around the fate of Jay's (Utkarsh Ambudkar) soul after he signed a contract with Elias (Matt Walsh), who has upgraded his afterlife status to Demon, we're still curious about what's in store for the rest of our favorite characters. As far as relationships go, Season 4 took our ghosts all over the map — literally! Pete (Richie Moriarty) continued his romance with Donna (Allegra Edwards) only to later break up with her in the finale, now that his long-time crush, Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), is interested in being with him.
Sass (Román Zaragoza) finally found love with another roaming ghost named Joan (Taylor Ortega), a screenwriter from the 1940s.

It’s been a challenging year to be a fan of the FBI franchise.
At the beginning of 2025, all three entries looked good for renewal, but reports emerged that one of the spinoffs, FBI: International or FBI: Most Wanted, may not make it onto the schedule.
If that was bad, I can only imagine your pain when CBS canceled both spinoffs earlier this year.
Will we be seeing more of Lucifer singing this season? We hope so!! He’s got a fantastic voice, even if he’s looking a little sad right now! (Michael Courtney/Fox)
It was a mind-boggling decision, considering they both continue to attract millions of viewers that some shows would kill for.
Now, CBS has made it official that the next entry in the franchise will drop the “FBI” from the title and go by the name CIA.

All of the Main 8 ghosts have now had their powers revealed in Ghosts season 4. Pete has ranked them all, but he’s off when it comes to how great some powers are.
Pete had decided that there are different tiers of powers based on how effective and important they are. He uses the way they can connect to the world of the living, and the way he can get off the property. However, he’s overlooking a few great elements of a couple of powers, and Pete’s ability to roam isn’t all that great when you consider other aspects of the spirits’ abilities.
I have my ranking of how great the abilities are. Do you agree with mine? These are in order from best to worst.

The spirits on Ghosts love their TV time, watching everything from Survivor and Selling Sunset to fictional programs like the reality series It’s Getting Hot in Here and the Succession-esque Night Sugar. But if Trevor had his way, he and his pals would only be watching one thing, all the time: The Cutting Edge.
Over the show’s four seasons, the finance bro has repeatedly referenced the 1992 sports romance, written by Tony Gilroy (!) and starring Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney as a figure skater and a former hockey player who team up to win the Olympics and each other’s hearts.

If you think I am about to rant about my favorite show, Ghosts, you are absolutely right. There’s a reason the series was renewed for two more seasons without anyone objecting.
The CBS show isn’t usually the kind of series with newsworthy episodic arcs.
Instead, Ghosts is more like a ninja, ensnaring viewers with brilliant comedy and genuine, heartfelt moments that blend seamlessly together. How diabolical.
(Bertrand Calmeau/CBS)
In all seriousness, there is a reason why there aren’t many conversations surrounding this show. It’s also tied to why the show was given a double dose of renewal.
If you haven’t given Ghosts a chance, you’re not too late to the party, unlike these spirits. Honestly, I’m jealous of viewers who get to experience the series for the first time.

When Suits LA premiered on NBC earlier this year, there were many questions about why no franchise alums were involved from the get-go.
But thanks to fans’ calls, Gabriel Macht has appeared in several episodes, bringing the iconic lawyer Harvey Specter to Los Angeles.
Suits LA Season 1 Episode 9 delved further into Harvey’s life than ever before, offering some interesting updates about where things went for him after Suits Season 9.
(Pana Pantazidis/USA Network)
My favorite aspect of Harvey being on Suits LA is that he’s the same Harvey we know and love, complete with his signature wit.
He’s helped show shades of Ted that I didn’t think were possible. Ted hasn’t been given the best material as the show’s lead, and there are concerns about how viable the show is as a spinoff.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Ransom Canyon Season 1.
When viewers first meet Yancy Grey, he’s a man on a mission — just not the kind that wins hearts.
Played with magnetic depth by Jack Schumacher, Yancy arrives in Ransom Canyon looking to take back what he believes he’s owed.

But by the end of the season, he’s a changed man. Sort of.
“He’s a guy who’s been through a lot. He feels like he’s been put out and forgotten, and he shows up wanting to take back what he believes he has a right to,” Schumacher said.
