WWE Evolution: Trish Stratus Puts a Banger at 49 Years of Age But It’s Nothing Compared to Mae Young’s Record
Image
WWE Evolution 2025 was a night of celebration of the women of the past and present in the Stamford-based promotion. The show featured top competitors of today’s landscape and veterans in attendance. However, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus was among those legends who stepped inside the ring rather than watch from the sidelines.

At the age of 49, The Diva of the Decade delivered, in the words of WWE superstar, a banger. She justified the ‘You still got it’ chants from the audience. However, when compared to a stunning record etched by WWE legend, Mae Young, sadly, Stratus does not come anywhere close to her.

Match #1: Fatal 4-Way King of the Ring Quarterfinal Match – Randy Orton def. LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes & Aleister Black The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Viper is moving on in the King of The Ring Tournament after conquering LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes and Aleister Black in a chaotic Fatal 4-Way Match. The action started fast as each Superstar went for signature maneuvers, including a near Rko from Randy Orton. The precision strikes from Black clashed with the flashy moves of Hayes, leading to an incredible stalemate between the two Superstars. Orton set up both Black and Hayes in his signature Apron Ddt, but Knight sprung out of nowhere and hit a remarkable Jumping Neckbreaker to Orton, downing all three Superstars. One of the biggest names in women’s wrestling is Trish Stratus. The former Diva of the Decade laid the early foundation for the WWE women’s division and has been called a pioneer of the sport. She has had some memorable in-ring matches in her career and has been credited as a top in-ring performer.

Moreover, Trish Stratus also had one memorable match at WWE’s biggest show, WrestleMania, where she defended the Women’s title. However, the match proved to be highly risky as it played out, leading to former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon coming into the mix.

“Lita and I had a hand in it”: Trish Stratus Believes Triple H’s New WWE Wouldn’t Have Existed Without Her Legendary Feud
Image
The current women’s division of WWE features a flurry of promising names, and women’s wrestling has come a long way. From the hard-hitting likes of Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax to the mind-bending agility of Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Tiffany Stratton, the company has been on an ever-ascending tide in the women’s division, and the fans are in utter thrall of the storylines.

However, the spectacle that we witness today wasn’t there a couple of decades ago. The transition needed a lot, and it needed a handful of promising superstars who could deliver to the hype created. A couple of such promising names in WWE women’s wrestling would always be Trish Stratus and Lita. Of course, Chyna looked solid during her days as well, but somehow she didn’t find opponents as strong as Rhea Ripley or Nia Jax, who reign supreme now.

How did...

Nia Jax’s Roast on Charlotte Flair and Her 3 Ex-husbands Is Too Brutal and Disrespectful for WWE Fans
Image
The WWE Women’s roster has been absolutely on fire with a flurry of new superstars taking over the reins. However, when it comes to splitting a few ribs, there are very few who can actually make magic happen. Blending all the seriousness of the ring with a few jokes which might cross the line at times, Queen Nia Jax has always stood out from the rest.

Much to the chagrin of Nia Jax, she wasn’t a part of WrestleMania 41 as she wasn’t medically cleared, as per reports. Inside reports state that she was initially planned to go head-on against The Storm, Jade Cargill, but due to her injury, it couldn’t happen. Eventually, Cargill duked it out with Naomi after a prolonged storyline in the Road to The Show of Shows. Despite her absence from the ring, she was a part of the Roast of WrestleMania, which...

The Original Bloodline is back together once again, as Sami Zayn came to Smackdown to confront Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso, with Jey Uso by his side. After being turned down at first, Roman eventually fought side-by-side with Sami against The Bloodline, as the teams seem all but certain to take part in this year's War Games.

Kevin Owens put Randy Orton out of action for the foreseeable future, hitting the banned piledriver on him despite his history of neck-related injuries. Bayley stole a victory from Candice LeRae, Motor City Machine Guns continued their hot streak by beating A-Town Down Under, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defeated Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton in more tag team action and WWE revealed it will be introducing a US Women's Championship in the coming weeks.

‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Nov 1st 2024)

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: Liv Morgan def. Tiffany Stratton The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Despite Nia Jax distracting the official on the ring apron and kicking the Money in the Bank briefcase to Tiffany Stratton to use against Liv Morgan, the Women’s World Champion avoided the hit and rolled up her opponent for the three-count while grabbing the tights. When Morgan attempted to use the briefcase on Jax after the bell, though, the WWE Women’s Champion took it away from her and used it on Liv, Raquel Rodregez and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio before crushing her WWE Crown Jewel opponent with the Annihilator.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: The Street Profits def. Pretty Deadly The following is courtesy of wwe.com:...

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade (No-contest) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The epic Game 7 between Carmelo Hayes and Andrade ended in a no-contest when Special Guest Referee LA Knight delivered a pair of BFTs to the competitors. Hayes and Andrade showed out, going deep in their bags to pull out showstopping moves like moonsaults, Spanish flies and even a Canadian destroyer. As the two Superstars warred inside the ring, Hayes inadvertently hit Knight with a kick. That move infuriated the United States Champion, and he proceeded to nail both Superstars with a Bft before ringing the bell and declaring himself the winner of Game 7.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Naomi def. Candice LeRae The following is courtesy of wwe.

5 Winners & 2 Losers From Last Night's SmackDown

New matches were made for Crown Jewel and new champions were crowned as Brooklyn, NY played host to an eventful episode of WWE SmackDown. After winning a grueling number one contender's match with DIY, on only their second episode of SmackDown, Motor City Machine Guns shocked The Bloodline to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline challenged the tired WWE newcomers but would be made to regret it. Jimmy Uso, Roman Reigns, and Jey Uso would all interfere, but Jey landed the fatal blows that costed The Bloodline their titles.

Randy Orton would call out Triple H to make sure he got his match with Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel, and LA Knight's temper would ruin Carmelo Hayes and Andrade's Game 7 but land him in a triple threat for his US title in Saudi Arabia next week. Naomi would continue her hot streak by beating...

Match #1: WWE Tag Team Title No. 1 Contender’s Tournament – #DIY def. The Street Profits & Pretty Deadly The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

A chance to face The Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Title began tonight as #DIY, The Street Profits and Pretty Deadly combined in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. The Street Profits looked ready to seal the deal with an epic Blockbuster but #DIY connected with Meeting in the Middle on Kit Wilson. At the same time, Montez Ford covered Elton Prince while Tomasso Ciampa covered Wilson. After some confusion, the referee announced #DIY as the winners.

4 Winners & 2 Losers From Last Night's SmackDown

This was a very Bloodline-heavy episode of Friday Night Smackdown, as WWE slowly makes its way towards the Crown Jewel Ple. Jey Uso made a surprise appearance to plead with Solo Sikoa to stop messing with The Bloodline and heal their family, before again turning down the approaches of Roman Reigns and his brother Jimmy. Solo Sikoa had no time for family sentiment as he demanded Roman acknowledge him as the Tribal Chief. Reigns' refusal landed him his biggest beating by The Bloodline yet.

Cody Rhodes made a valiant attempt to validate the Crown Jewel Championship, which will be the prize for his upcoming Champion vs Champion match with Gunther. The Motor City Machine Guns made their WWE debut and booked a Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders match against DIY on next week's show. Piper Niven suffered defeat to Nxt's Lash Legend and Candice LeRae would cover for Tiffany Stratton...

WWE: Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa on Randy Orton, ‘Bluey’ & Their DIY Prowess
Image
WWE superstar Johnny Gargano will be the first to tell you that he and his tag partner Tommaso Ciampa are wrestling soulmates. They’ve teamed up but also waged wars against one another in a deeply personal rivalry with Gargano’s wife Candice LeRae often in the mix. These days the duo collectively known as DIY has been fired back up and built momentum, even having a run with the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown. They hope to get shot at regaining gold against The Bloodline. First Gargano and Ciampa have to contend with The Street Profits during the August 16 episode. We caught up with the team along with other media as they reflected on this current run. You guys are called DIY. Are you Mr. Fix It at home? Johnny Gargano: No, I’m actually the worst in the world at putting stuff together. Me and [Candice LeRae] built a...

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Triple Threat Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match – Tiffany Stratton def. Jade Cargill and Candice LeRae The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Toronto will operate on “Tiffy Time” as Tiffany Stratton punched her ticket to Money in the Bank by defeating Jade Cargill and Candice LeRae in a Triple Threat Match thanks to an assist from her new friend, Nia Jax. Stratton and LeRae quickly forged a partnership against the powerful Cargill, but it was only a matter of time before The Storm cleaned house against her opponents. Jax’s presence at ringside drew the ire of Bianca Belair, but Indi Hartwell appeared during the chaos and attacked Cargill. However, Hartwell’s interference didn’t help LeRae.

Match #1: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Right from the opening bell, Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark made their way to ringside to view the action. Hartwell and LeRae took down Belair with superb tag team offense, as Hartwell mocked Cargill with her own pose. When Cargill was tagged in, she dismantled Hartwell and LeRae. Cargill and Belair wrapped up the non-title match with a unique tag team maneuver. After the match, Fyre, Dawn, Baszler and Stark ambushed the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, but Belair and Cargill fended off their attackers.

Welcome to this review of the 2024 King and Queen of the Ring pay-per-view. Technically this was the 12th King of the Ring event, but the First combined King and Queen of the Ring; which took place on Saturday, May 25th, at the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill needed everything in their arsenals to walk out as champions during a spirited title bout with Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. LeRae and Hartwell isolated and hobbled Belair, ruthlessly targeting the injury The Est suffered at the hands of The Poison Pixie a few weeks ago. Unfortunately for LeRae and Hartwell, a Storm was coming. Belair tagged in Cargill, and her unbelievable strength and athleticism more than evened the odds.

Match #1: Sheamus def. Ivar The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Sheamus’ first match back on Raw was a banger. Picking up where he left off, The Celtic Warrior dropped Ivar with a stunning White Noise from the middle rope as the crowd roared in approval. The Celtic Warrior had his work cut out for him, however, as Ivar nearly squashed Sheamus with a huge splash from the top rope. Sheamus kicked out, screamed at the Viking Raider for more, and hit an epic Brogue Kick to claim a huge win in his return. Monday nights are fight nights, fella!

After New Day nullified McDonagh, #DIY used their tandem offense to take out “Dirty” Dom, but it didn’t bode well for Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa after that exchange. Match #1: #DIY def. The Creed Brothers The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Despite dominating during their time in Nxt, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa have never had a match at WrestleMania, and this seemingly spurned them to leave it all on the line. Brutus and Julius Creed wowed the WWE Universe, especially when Julius lifted from his knees into a standing vertical suplex, showcasing his raw strength. The Creed Brothers continued their punishing attack, sending Ciampa through the announce table area and leaving Pat McAfee speechless. Julius and Brutus caught their opponents with tandem ankle locks, but Ciampa and Gargano countered into a Sicilian Stretch and Gargano Escape.
