Why Taron Egerton Could Still Be the Perfect James Bond Even if He Doesn’t Think So
Image
The idea that Taron Egerton doesn’t see himself as James Bond is, frankly, baffling. The actor has every tool in the shed: charm, grit, screen presence, dramatic range, and yet he insists he wouldn’t be a “good choice for it”. That’s not humility; it’s probably hesitation dressed in modesty. With Denis Villeneuve officially announced to direct the next installment of the franchise and Amazon eager to revamp 007 for a new era, casting someone like Egerton isn’t just a safe bet; it’s the smart one.

Yes, Egerton has shrugged off the rumors, saying (via Collider):

I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig’s tenure. But I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.

But wait,...

Taron Egerton's New Crime Movie Recalls One Of The Best Movies Ever Made
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. A drifter or outlaw is on a perilous journey with a young partner, who is either his literal or spiritual son/daughter. It's a common formula not tied to any specific genre. You can see it in gangster movies ("Road to Perdition"), Westerns ("True Grit"), science-fiction, superhero stories ("Logan") and more.

The best version of it isn't an action story but a road trip black comedy: Peter Bogdanovich's "Paper Moon," about con artist Moze Pray and his maybe daughter Addie (Ryan and Tatum O'Neal) driving through Great Depression-era Kansas. The legacy of "Paper Moon" lives on to this day. It has inspired recent stories including a key episode of "Andor," and the new Neo-Western crime thriller, "She Rides Shotgun."

Based on Jordan Harper's page-turning, bite-sized novel, "She Rides Shotgun" begins...

New Mystery Thriller With Kingsman Star Debuts With Solid Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Taron Egerton's new mystery thriller is here, and it now has a Rotten Tomatoes score. Egerton will be best known to many audiences for his role as Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise, a role he first played back in 2014.

Egerton returned as the spy character in 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and he is expected to return for one more outing with Kingsman 3 from franchise director Matthew Vaughn. Outside his work in this action spy franchise, however, Egerton has established himself as a bankable star.

The Welsh actor took on the role of Elton John in Rocketman (2019), which was a big critical and commercial success. He also stars in Carry-On (2024), an action thriller that now stands as the second most-watched English-language Netflix movie ever.

2025 has been another strong year for Egerton, with the actor leading the Apple TV+ series Smoke. His latest release is a smaller film in the thriller genre,...

Taron Egerton Crime Thriller 'She Rides Shotgun' Lands Stellar Rotten Tomatoes Debut
Image
With acclaimed roles on both the big and small screen, Taron Egerton has demonstrated time and again that he is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood right now, and his latest crime thriller not only helps to cement that fact, it also proves that he’s an even better action hero dad than Taken star Liam Neeson.

Following the release of last year’s festive action movie hit, Carry-On, as well as his role as Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise, Egerton is no stranger to explosions and gunfire. But his latest puts him on a far grittier action hero path, with the imminent She Rides Shotgun finding the actor stretching his dramatic muscles alongside his action ones as a father who, after being released from prison, finds himself protecting both his daughter and himself from an onslaught of enemies out for his blood.

The first reviews for She Rides Shotgun...

Taron Egerton Says 'Kingsman 3' Could Still Happen
Image
Sometimes, all you need to watch is a good spy action comedy to uplift your mood. The combined genre has everything an audience needs in one production: thrilling moments, battles, and good laughs. When Kingsman: The Secret Servicewas released in theaters, it was the then-latest hot topic among movie lovers and action fans. Starring Taron EgertonasEggsy, whose full fictional name was Gary Unwin, the movie grossed $414 million at the box office and prompted a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, to be released two years later. The demand for more films in the series increased, and fans wondered if a third movie would arrive. While it's been about eight years since the second installment arrived, and with a divisive prequel, The King's Man, released in the meantime, Egerton did provide an update about a possible sequel.

Kingsmandirector and producer Matthew Vaughn once said that the sequel was delayed partly because of Egerton's busy schedule.

‘Kingsman 3’ Hopes Refueled by Taron Egerton as He Brushes Off Director's Delay Excuse: "Is That What He Said?"
Image
When a good action franchise comes along, we often look to keep it around for a while longer. That is exactly the case for the action film series, Kingsman, which stars Taron Egerton as Eggsy. The franchise was seen as Egerton’s big break, as he appeared as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in the 2014 film, Kingsman: The Secret Service. Following a successful outing at the box office and with critics, a sequel arrived in 2017, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, but it failed to match its predecessor in any of the aforementioned categories. A third installment has long been discussed, but the project remains firmly in development purgatory. Now, Egerton has recently rebuffed the explanation offered for the delay.

The Kingsmanfranchise is helmed by director Matthew Vaughn, who has been consistently mulling over a third film, Kingsman 3, is trained to become a member of Kingsman. A Royal Marines dropout soon becomes an...

Taron Egerton gives hopeful update on Kingsman 3
Taron Egerton still thinks a third Kingsman movie will happen.Work on the next action/spy flick has been ongoing since the 2021 prequel The King’s Man, though director Matthew Vaughn, 54, previously said the project had been slowed due to Egerton’s busy schedule. Now, the 35-year-old actor - who portrayed Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin in 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and its 2017 sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle - has insisted that he, Vaughn and Harry Hart actor Colin Firth are all still keen to make a third movie. When The Playlist asked Egerton about Vaughn’s delay comments, he replied: “Is that what he said? Yeah, he’s so funny. “He did call me on Friday night, actually. Yeah, look, we both want to do it. And I know Colin is open to doing it, too. “I think the interesting thing will be figuring out whether we all see the same thing.

Kingsman 3 Hopes Refueled By Eggsy Star As He Brushes Off Director's Delay Excuse: "Is That What He Said?"
Image
Kingsman 3 gets a promising new update from Eggsy star Taron Egerton, who brushes off director Matthew Vaughn's delay excuse. Eggsy first hit the big screen in 2014 with the release of the first Kingsman movie, but a third installment has struggled to get off the ground.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle was released in 2017, failing to match the original in terms of box office or critical reception. After prequel The Kings Man failed to make a mark in 2021, the anticipated Kingsman 3 has remained stuck in development, with Vaughn previously saying that Egerton's busy schedule is partly to blame for the long wait.

During a recent interview with The Playlist, Egerton pushes back on the suggestion that his schedule is to blame for Kingsman 3 having not come to fruition yet. The star expresses enthusiasm about the movie, revealing that he just recently spoke with Vaughn.

Taron Egerton’s New Crime Series Just Beat a Kingsman Movie in One Crucial Way
Image
Taron Egerton will always be known for his role as Eggsy in the Kingsman movies, but his latest crime thriller series, now streaming on Apple TV+, just beat one of his most iconic films in a crucial statistic. Egerton stars alongside Jurnee Smollett and Rafe Spall in Smoke, the show following a troubled detective and an arson investigator who are chasing two serial arsonists. After debuting with a 69% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Smoke has come to rest at a 73% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. Both of these scores are higher than Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which sits at a “rotten” 51% from critics and 64% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite these lower scores, Kingsman: The Golden Circle still grossed $410 million at the box office against a $104 million budget.

Although he’s inseparable from Eggsy in the Kingsman films, Egerton has also delivered various hits in the last few years to help bolster his resume.

Kingsman: The Blue Blood will continue director Matthew Vaughn's hit spy action franchise, but it seems as if development has stalled on Kingsman 3. Vaughn's grand vision for the Kingsman franchise is far-reaching, with several sequel plans already in place. The next Kingsman movie is confirmed to be Kingsman: The Blue Blood, rather than a followup to the prequel The Kings Man. However, a recent string of financial failures from Vaughn has put the entire project in jeopardy.

Initially set for a 2023 release date, the new Kingsman movie is planned as a definitive conclusion of Harry Hart's (Colin Firth) and Eggsy's (Taron Egerton) tumultuous relationship, although other plot details remain scant. Vaughn has also touted several stars to join in on the espionage action, with Dwayne Johnson and Mark Strong being two names floated as joining the cast of Kingsman: The Blue Blood when the Kingsman 3 release date finally arrives.

7 Times Real Musicians Became Unexpected Heroes In Movies
Image
There are several movies from over the years in which a real musician stars as themselves, but only a few are also unexpected heroes. Surprise celebrity cameos in movies are always exciting, whether they’re playing a character or a version of themselves. Appearances from musicians are often a great surprise because, most of the time, these popular figures don’t have any notable acting ability, which makes it even more intriguing. Despite this, some of the biggest musicians ever still pop up in some of the best movies of all time.

While some musicians are the subject of their biopics, and occasionally feature as themselves, it’s always strange to see a real-life person in a fictional movie world. The term hero can vary depending on the context of events, but typically, a hero is someone who fixes an issue in the story or stops some sort of threat.

Taron Egerton's Kingsman Return Gets Optimistic Update
Image
Kingsman fans may still see the end of Harry and Eggsy's story. Franchise lead Taron Egerton recently offered a promising update on Kingsman 3.

More than a month after 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell told The Hollywood Reporter that there were "no plans on doing them [more Kingsman movies] anytime soon," Egerton has offered his own thoughts on the franchise's future. While speaking with Screen Rant to promote his new Netflix movie Carry-On, Egerton shared that there are still plans for another Kingsman movie. "I believe that was said by somebody from Fox, I think," said Egerton about Asbell's Kingsman comments. "I think... I don't know, and I don't want to speak out of school, but I don't think that necessarily means that we won't do it. I think Matthew [Vaughn] and I very much want to do one more. I want to do one more. And so while, you know,...

Taron Egerton still keen to do another Kingsman movie despite studio saying they have no plans for more
Image
The lackluster box office of the last installment of the Kingsman franchise seems to have put a halt on Matthew Vaughn’s action-packed spy saga. As an added nail to the coffin, 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell told THR in October that there were “no plans” for any Kingsman sequels or prequels “anytime soon.” However, Kingsman star Taron Egerton would still like to do one more movie to bring the story of Eggsy to a close.

“I think… I don’t know, and I don’t want to speak out of school, but I don’t think that necessarily means that we won’t do it,” said Egerton while speaking with ScreenRant. “I think Matthew and I very much want to do one more. I want to do one more. And so while, you know, we don’t have a shoot date yet, I think it could still happen.

¡Malas noticias!

Disappointing Kingsman 3 Update Proves The Spy Franchise Never Recovered From 51% Rotten Tomatoes Misstep
Image
An update on Kingsman 3 and the future of the spy franchise proves it never fully recovered from the reception of one maligned entry. Despite being heavily influenced by the Roger Moore era of James Bond, Kingsman: The Secret Service still felt like a breath of fresh air when it arrived in 2014. This campy, hyperviolent romp combined the spy movies of old with an irreverent wit that made it a surprise hit. Director Matthew Vaughn had big plans for the Kingsman movie franchise, and over the years, multiple sequels, prequels and spinoffs have been announced.

Vaughn's other spy saga Argylle was even revealed to be a Kingsman spinoff, with that movie's post-credit scene revealing the titular character was trained by the group. The issue is, both the critical and commercial reception to Vaughn's The King's Man and Argylle were pretty poor, with both bombing financially and receiving tepid reviews. The...

Image
This is a sad day for fans of the Kingsman franchise. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Asbell delivered disappointing updates regarding the future of the series. The updates come after months of speculation regarding where the studio could take the property next. It appears that other franchises and stories will be taking the spotlight in the near future. Here's what Asbell had to say when asked about the development of future Kingsman films:...

“It better be like, Guts level backstory”: Even the Most Tragic Backstory by Eiichiro Oda Won’t Make One Piece Fans Like the Worst Characters of the Series
Image
One Piece has a fair share of characters and groups introduced by Eiichiro Oda. They all have unique personalities and purposes to complete, it gives them a sense of individuality that even a series with over 1000 chapters and numerous characters can maintain with ease. In this range, there are those who align primarily with the good side and those who stay in the dark.

As both heroes and villains, no One Piece fan can deny that the favorability of each character, regardless of their morality, makes them interesting and extremely fun to watch. Despite the range of characters, there is simply a group of people who are beyond loathsome. No matter what the mangaka does in order to make them tolerable, it won’t change anything.

Kingsman Franchise Dominates Netflix's Global Chart For The First Time
Image
Both original Kingsman movies have become global Netflix hits despite not being available to stream in the United States. Kingsman: The Secret Service is No. 3 on the week's global Top 10, while its sequel The Golden Circle is No. 6. Global interest in the original movies could indicate that Kingsman 3 could be a success.

The Kingsman franchise is dominating the Netflix global chart for the first time. Based on the comic book series of the same name, the Kingsman movies first hit theaters in 2014 with The Secret Service, which introduced Taron Egerton as Eggsy, a young man who is recruited by Harry Hart (Colin Firth) into the upper-crust spy agency known as Kingsman. The movie was followed by a 2017 sequel, The Golden Circle, which introduced the American spy agency Statesman, and a 2021 prequel titled The King's Man, which was set during World War I.

Why Kingsman 3 Is Taking So Long Explained By Matthew Vaughn
Image
Matthew Vaughn reveals that Kingsman 3 won't begin production until next year due to Taron Egerton's busy schedule. The film likely won't release until 2026. The upcoming Kingsman movie will serve as the conclusion to Harry and Eggsy's story, following the pair as they team up for one last adventure.

Kingsman 3 director Matthew Vaughn addresses why the trilogy-capper is taking such a long time. The Kingsman franchise was originally developed as a series of comic books set in the world created by Mark Millar. Millar and David Gibbons published the initial comics through Marvel in 2012, following the world of spies in the United Kingdom. The comics were then adapted for the first movie in 2014. Plans for sequels, spinoffs, and a television series have been in development over the years.

After the success of the first film in 2014, Vaughn continued the story of Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Harry (Colin Firth...

10 Well Written Movie Characters Who Were Ruined By A Single Scene
Image
A single scene can ruin a character, like Spectre's twist revealing Blofeld as James Bond's brother, destroying his motives. Men in Black II's treatment of Agent L disrespectfully sidelines her character, erasing her for the sake of reuniting Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The Golden Circle's decision to bring Harry Hart back from the dead undoes the stakes of the franchise and undermines Eggsy's growth.

It doesn't take much to ruin a movie character, and some promising characters have even been destroyed by a single scene. Whether it's a decision that goes against their character or an unnecessary plot twist that makes no sense, these scenes show how difficult it can be to create and maintain compelling characters. Many movie characters get worse in sequels, once they have exhausted the narrative thrust which first made them interesting, but it's rare to be able to point to...

10 Movie Sequels That Completely Missed The Point Of The Original
Image
Movie sequels often struggle to recapture the magic of the original, either by playing it too safe or changing too much. Fans want to see characters they love develop within the story, not just rehashed versions of them. Some sequels lose charm by diverging from what made the original great, leading to disappointing results.

Movie sequels always have to bring something new to the table, but sometimes they change so much that they forget what made the original so great in the first place. There are countless disappointing movie sequels, showing that it isn't always easy to recapture the intangible magic that contributes to a beloved movie. A lot of bad sequels play things too safely in an attempt to rehash the original. This is a common misstep, but going too far in the opposite direction is equally ill-fated. Fans who are eagerly awaiting a sequel want to see something familiar.

Kingsman's Controversial Final Scene Replaced a Huge Moment Too Expensive to Film
Image
The original comic ending of Kingsman saw Eggsy saving celebrities, which was not adapted in the film. The movie changed the plot to influencers figures instead of celebrities, missing a pivotal final comic scene. Altering the final scene diminished Eggsy's wish-fulfillment moment in the film, contrasted to the comic.

Between Kingsman’s film and comic universes, the series’ main protagonist, Eggsy, is put through the wringer as he tries to stop a threat that could kill millions, ultimately going on to save the world in an expected over-the-top manner. Yet the final scene in the comic was vastly different from what was in the movie, and thanks to Kingsman's overly expensive nature, the scene was instead replaced by a controversial one that didn’t service the story at all.

Following Gary London, aka Eggsy Unwin, as he goes from a poverty-stricken lad to a professional super-spy tasked with taking out a celebrity-napping villain,...

The similarity in action and humor between Argylle and Kingsman has sparked speculation among fans about a potential meeting between the two espionage crews.
