‘The Phoenix Incident’ Review
Stars: Michael Adamthwaite, Troy Baker, James L. Brewster, James C. Burns, Holgie Forrester, Karl Girolamo, Matthew Grant Godbey, William Goldman, Yuri Lowenthal, Elise Muller, Liam O’Brien | Written and Directed by Keith Arem

Strange and otherwise terrifying things tend to happen on Friday the 13th, at least according to superstition and a certain horror franchise featuring a machete-wielding maniac, but it was on Thursday the 13th of March, in 1997, that the residents of Phoenix, Arizona experienced a good deal of unusual activity. On that night, an unidentified flying object was spotted and filmed by thousands of people in both Phoenix and Sonora, Mexico, and to date, the strange v-shaped pattern of lights has never quite been explained – at least not in any sort of satisfying way.

Leave it to a horror movie to come along and offer up a possible explanation.

Written and directed by video game producer/director/engineer Keith Arem,...

The Inspiration Behind Japan Calls (And What You Can Do)
The Inspiration Behind Japan Calls

By Tanya Meyers and Michelle "Moey" Mariano

After the travesties that hit Japan earlier this month, many were left wondering what they could do. Texting 90999 to the Red Cross was one way, or donating to a separate charity or even flying out to help directly… But for a lot of us, there wasn’ t much money to give, and anything more direct was near impossible, so all there was left to do was brainstorm.

Thus the idea for Japan Calls came about.

It started out as a very simple idea, inspired greatly by TwitChange. But many entertainers weren't on Twitter, or were already more accessible than huge names like Eva Longoria and Justin Bieber. So what more could celebrities give that people would be willing to donate toward? What would be a step above a simple text on the screen of an individual’ s computer?...

Gays of our Lives (January 19, 2009)
This week we speak with Tom Chroust, former head writer of Forbidden Love. Chroust started at the show as an intern in August 1998 and eventually became head writer at Fl from July 2007 to June 2008. (He now is part of the writing team at All That Matters.)

During Chroust's tenure as head writer at Fl he shepherded the internationally loved romance between Christian Mann (Thore Schölermann) and Olli Sabel (Jo Weil). We talked to the out writer via email about that storyline, as well as other plots and characters he enjoyed working on. We also asked him what he wished he could have done differently and lots more!

German soap writer, Tom Chroust

AfterElton.com: How did you come up with the love story for Christian and Olli? Was it a story that you already had in mind in general, meaning a gay love story, or for them in particular?

Tom...

Will Luke and Noah Ever Go All The Way?
Luke (Van Hansis), Noah (Jake Silbermann)

Remember when Luke and Noah kissing on As the World Turns used to be a big deal? They of course shared the first gay male kiss on daytime television back in August of 2007. But after a couple initial smooches, Oakdale’s gay super couple (and fans) had to content themselves with hand holding, longing looks, and even a few infuriating cutaway scenes. Everyone remembers that infamous mistletoe moment from last December. Frustration among gay Nuke fans — and probably even a lot of straight ones — eventually bubbled over and began to be picked up by various mainstream media outlets. That in turn offered Atwt a great deal of free publicity and naturally had a lot of people tuning in to see what the controversy was all about.

After a seven month dry spell, Luke and Noah did indeed start kissing again — without advance warning or...
