According to Jeff Sneider, Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer) is set to join Hulu’s upcoming reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As you might expect, details on her character are being kept under wraps, but Sneider hears she will guest star in the pilot.
The reboot series will star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the new young slayer, but the series will also see the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers. “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” said Gellar of Armstrong’s casting. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.“

A few months ago, it was revealed that Legendary Pictures, the company behind the 2022 Texas Chainsaw Massacre film that was released through the Netflix streaming service, had let their rights to make new films in the franchise lapse, so Verve, which currently represents the rights, are looking to “build out a multimedia strategy” for the franchise, with filmmakers, producers, and buyers looking to get involved. It was said that writer/director Jt Mollner (Strange Darling) and producer Roy Lee (It) were among the interested parties, teaming up with A24 for a TV series pitch that has actor Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) hoping to read the script. But A24 / Mollner / Lee had some serious competition. A couple of months ago, we heard that five to eight studios and/or streamers were seeking the rights, with names in the mix including Jordan Peele’s company Monkeypaw, Osgood Perkins and Neon, and even Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan!

Update: Variety has confirmed the news, reporting that Margot Robbie is in early talks to join Tim Burton’s Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman remake. If the deal closes, she will produce the film with LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, but it’s still up in the air if she will star in the movie. The producers are searching for a new writer to tackle the script (the first draft was penned by Gillian Flynn), and Variety states that Robbie’s involvement would depend on how the final version turns out.

Last year, it was reported that Tim Burton was developing a remake of the sci-fi horror classic Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman with Warner Bros. Burton had taken on a similarly retro-matinee-type monster film with his tongue-in-cheek adaptation of Topps’ Mars Attacks! property. It was previously reported that novelist Gillian Flynn was to be penning the script,...

Now, it appears the movie will kick off the next Saga of storytelling after Avengers: Secret Wars concludes the Multiverse Saga in December 2027.
According to Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, "Black Panther 3, that’s February 2028. That’s going to start production at the top of 2027. And that will be in theaters February 2028." Marvel Studios has scheduled an untitled MCU movie for February 18, 2028.
We have good reason to believe that the plan is to reintroduce T'Challa after Shuri took his place in 2021's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Whether that's an adult version of Toussaint, a.k.a. If you're a hardcore fan of video games, you've more than likely heard of the action role-playing game Elden Ring. In May 2025, a live-action movie adaptation of this hit video game was announced to be in the works, with Alex Garland attached as writer and director, and A24 and Bandai Namco serving as producers. Now, it looks like the project might have just found its next cast addition.
There's a rumor circulating that rising star Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus) may be cast in the Elden Ring movie, potentially as the character Melina, a key figure in the game. On July 24, film industry insider Jeff Sneider posted on X that Spaeny is in talks to join the live-action film.

There are some incredible developments happening with the Elden Ring adaptation. Not only will it be made by writer/director Alex Garland, who recently released Civil War, Warfare and reunited with Danny Boyle for 28 Years Later, but he will be doing it with A24. The indie studio is expanding as it dabbles in bigger-budget movies, like Civil War. Elden Ring is a popular video game property with an opportunity for a franchise, so this film is expected to be the most expensive film that A24 will produce to date. The price tag may also have played a factor in why the studio went to Garland with the project.
The Insneider reporter, Jeff Sneider, is now saying that Garland is possibly going to reunite with his Civil War star Cailee Spaeny to sign on to Elden Ring. Spaeny and Garland have collaborated a couple of times on the FX series Devs,...

A new Wonder Woman movie is moving forward at DC Studios, and we recently got word that Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira has been enlisted to pen the script.
James Gunn and Peter Safran clearly have a lot of faith in Nogueira, who also wrote the live-action Teen Titans movie. According to Jeff Sneider in his latest newsletter, Nogueira "has already handed in her first draft of Teen Titans, and owes DC a revision, which she’ll work on while writing Wonder Woman."
Sneider has also been doing some digging about a potential Wonder Woman director, and his sources believe that Gunn will be searching for a filmmaker who is “light, fun, and not too serious” to bring this new take on Diana to the screen.
Here are ten names Sneider's insiders view as "likely possibilities" to land the gig. Keep in mind, we don't know if any of these directors...

Superman director and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has confirmed that there are a number of Dcu projects both in various stages of development and still in the idea phase that were not named during the initial "Gods and Monsters" slate announcement, and a recent report claimed to reveal which characters two of them will focus on.
According to a piece by The Wall Street Journal, Superman spin-off shows focusing on Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) are "being considered." More recently, we'd hear that the Olsen series will actually take the form of a crime anthology show, with the Daily Planet reporter investigating various supervillains.
In his newsletter, Jeff Sneider mentions that one of these villains will be none other than Gorilla Grodd.
Though this would mark Grodd's live-action Dcu debut, the character did briefly appear in the Creature Commandos animated series. Nexus Point News has since weighed-in,...

Barbie star Margot Robbie may be teaming up with Edward Scissorhands helmer Tim Burton for her next major role.
According to film industry insider Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, it's rumored that progress is moving forward on Burton's planned remake of the sci-fi horror classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. The remake was first reported in February 2024, when it was also revealed that Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) was attached to work on the script. There has been a lack of fruitful updates in the year and a half since.
Now, per Sneider, Robbie and her LuckyChap banner are becoming part of the project to help produce. Additionally, it's reported that Robbie is also expected to star in the movie's titular role. Superman has been performing pretty well at the box office (more so domestically than internationally), and even though the movie still has a long road ahead (it's going to face serious competition from The Fantastic Four: First Steps this weekend), James Gunn's reboot is being viewed internally as a successful launching point for the Dcu.
Gunn has confirmed that he is already working on a follow-up (though it won't be a direct sequel), but a recent report from Variety suggested that Wonder Woman will likely take precedence.

Marvel Studios is quickly advancing with its MCU X-Men project, and the latest casting rumors suggest that three actresses are in the mix for the omega-level mutant Jean Grey. Jean Grey is a core character to the X-Men team, often depicted as being in a relationship with fellow X-Men member Scott Summers/Cyclops, and as one of the most powerful team members thanks to her connection to the cosmic Phoenix Force. Several notable stars have portrayed Jean Grey in past X-Men films, including Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner, making the character's MCU casting one of the hottest in town.

Earlier this week, the news broke that DC Studios is planning to fast-track a new Wonder Woman movie. All this basically means is that they intend to get working on the project sooner rather than later, but there is always a chance it could be the next Dcu film to enter production after Clayface.
We know that a writer is currently working on the script, but if Wonder Woman is now a top priority for Warner Bros./DC, could casting already be underway?
On this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider mentions that he's heard that the studio is looking for an unknown actress to play Diana. He says he's asked around to see if they might want to go an unexpected route by possibly casting someone Black or Latina, and was told it would more than likely be someone of Mediterranean descent - but a Black actress...

Voldemort has reportedly been cast in HBO's series adaptation of Harry Potter. Unfortunately, fans are no closer to learning who will succeed Ralph Fiennes as the Dark Lord.
According to Redanian Intelligence, someone close to the production of Harry Potter has disclosed that Voldemort has already been cast for the series adaptation and will "appear in several episodes." However, HBO reportedly has no plans to announce who has been cast in the role, as the network wants to keep the casting a secret until the first season airs, which isn't until 2027. This means that Wizarding World fans might have to wait two years to learn who will be playing Voldemort, unless the casting gets leaked before then. At the very least, this secrecy stays true to the character's "He Who Must Not Be Named" moniker.

The Paper finally has a premiere date. The long-awaited spinoff of The Office will begin streaming on Peacock this September.
Peacock has revealed that the first four episodes of The Paper will premiere on Sept. 4, followed by two new episodes every Thursday through Sept. 25.This means the entire 10-episode season will be rolled out in less than a month. While the binge method (a.k.a. releasing the entire season at the same time) was once a popular release method for streaming originals, in recent years, streamers like HBO Max, Prime Video, and Disney+ have gone back to the tried and true one-episode per week release pattern, with some notable exceptions like multi-episode premieres or finales. With The Office a consistent streaming hit, the decision to burn through an entire season of its highly anticipated spinoff in just one month is somewhat unusual, although Peacock likely has a reason for doing so.

A lot is riding on James Gunn's Superman to successfully kickstart the new DC Universe. However, the DC Studios co-ceo, who also wrote and directed Superman, recently revealed that the blockbuster doesn't have to make as much at the box office as everyone thinks it does.

While he agreed that there is quite a bit riding on Superman, "it’s not as big as people make it out to be," explaining, "They hear these numbers that the movie’s only going to be successful if it makes 700 million or something and it’s just complete and utter nonsense. Marvel Studios' Blade reboot has just been dealt another devastating blow. Mahershala Ali, who is set to star in the long-gestating superhero blockbuster as the titular hero, recently skirted around a question involving the Marvel Cinematic Universe while promoting his new movie, Jurassic World Rebirth.
During a recent appearance on Vogue's Off the Cut podcast (via ComicBook) with his Rebirth co-stars Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson, the cast was asked how many Marvel movies they had appeared in, prompting Ali to state, "Leave me out of it. That's a Scarlett question." Ali tossing the question away from him as quickly as possible implies that Marvel is still no closer to getting Blade into production, roughly six years after the project was first announced. For what it's worth, even with Blade still in development hell, Ali's answer to the question would technically be one, as he made an uncredited voice cameo...

Avengers: Doomsday will move forward with a new plan for its production timeline after an adjustment from Marvel Studios. Doomsday is expected to be one of the McU's biggest productions ever, with dozens of A-listers already enlisted and more on the way. Marking the McU's fifth Avengers team-up and the first since 2019's Avengers: Endgame, expectations for it to be great are at an all-time high.
A rumor indicated that Marvel Studios will push the production wrap date on Avengers: Doomsday by one month, giving it about a seven-month production timeline. Marvel is expected to be hard at work on this new blockbuster through the end of the calendar year, giving Doomsday one of the longest shooting/production schedules of any MCU movie ever made. Reported by insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast, while he did not offer a specific end date, he explained that the "end date...

The Fantastic Four Cast Wishes Fans A Happy Fantastic Fourth As More Positive Early Buzz Is Revealed
Happy Independence Day!
The news cycle has slowed down a little as everyone in the U.S. enjoys the long weekend, but Marvel Studios has managed to assemble the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps to wish fans a happy Fourth of July.
In the promo, Joseph Quinn, the actor who plays the Human Torch, has a hard time getting his "flame on" and is eventually abandoned by his co-stars. The studio has also celebrated the holiday with a new TV spot featuring a fresh look at Galactus. You can see that here.
Disney is likely to go all out promoting the reboot once Superman lands in theaters, and we expect more promos, posters, and hints at what to expect from this iconic team's official MCU debut in the coming weeks.

Superman director James Gunn and his cast are currently touring the world to promote the first DC Studios movie, but will it pay off when the reboot opens in North America next weekend?
Tracking has been all over the place for this one, though the trades recently reported that $125 million - $145 million was looking likely (which was a dip from very early estimates of $185 million - $200 million). At the time, many of those outlets also suggested Superman could debut on the lower end, with as little as $90 million.
With a rumoured budget of $225 million, not including marketing, that would be a disastrous start for the Dcu. Gunn has said he'd be fine with breaking even, but a blockbuster that barely turns a profit is hardly a win for a brand already running on fumes.
Talking on The Hot Mic podcast, Jeff Sneider revealed, "I'm hearing the Superman pre-sales are slowing down a little bit.

When Amazon purchased MGM for $8.5 billion back in 2022, they found themselves in the James Bond business, as the Bond franchise was set up at MGM – and they wanted to start making Bond movies as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, creative disagreements between Amazon MGM Studios and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli slowed down the process. So, earlier this year Amazon paid off Wilson and Broccoli (reported price: another $1 billion) so they can gain creative control over the franchise for the foreseeable future, hiring Amy Pascal of Pascal Pictures and David Heyman of Heyday Films to produce the next Bond film. Last week, we learned that Amazon, Pascal, and Heyman have found the director for Bond 26, hiring Denis Villeneuve to take the helm. It’s an interesting choice, not just due to his impressive filmography, but also because Villeneuve has been talking about his Bond fandom in interviews at...

There are new casting rumors that make it sound like the upcoming HBO Max series Lanterns might have found a perfect replacement for Blake Lively. The casting choice also makes it sound like the character could end up bringing another classic DC Comics hero into the movie.
In an exclusive casting leak by Jeff Sneider, the insider revealed that three-time Oscar-nominated actor Laura Linney has signed on for a role in the Lanterns TV series. She joins a cast that already includes Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.
Lanterns is a Dcu series that follows the Green Lantern Corps, and it will bring two members of the intergalactic police unit to the forefront with Hal Jordan (Chandler) and John Stewart (Pierre). Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), who makes his debut in Superman this summer, will also appear in the movie, but in what appears to be a minor role.

After Tony Gilroy's time on Andor, one of the most celebrated projects in Star Wars history, the writer will take on something wildly different for his next project. Now, its head writer is already lined up for a new story.
Tony Gilroy is confirmed to be writing his next project, which is titled Behemoth!. During the heyday of arcades and mall culture, Dragon’s Lair wasn’t just another cabinet among the crowd, it was a revolution in gaming.
Launched in 1983, the game stood out instantly thanks to its lush, hand-drawn animation by former Disney visionary Don Bluth.
At a time when blocky pixel art dominated screens, Dragon’s Lair looked and felt like a fully playable cartoon, drawing players in with an experience unlike anything else on the market.
Powered by LaserDisc technology, the game featured full-motion video (Fmv) that allowed for smooth, cinematic storytelling. Instead of navigating a pixelated avatar, players guided Dirk the Daring, a fearless yet bumbling knight, through a fantasy adventure to save Princess Daphne from the evil dragon Singe and the sinister wizard Mordroc.

If you’ve got Ptsd from pumping quarters into Rick Dyer’s Dragon’s Lair arcade game, look away! This article could cause traumatic memories to resurface as we remember the pain of dying repeatedly and kissing your hard-earned couch change goodbye. According to Jeff Sneider, multiple sources say The Muppets director James Bobin is in negotiations to direct Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the beloved ’80s video game Dragon’s Lair, with Ryan Reynolds attached to star.
Discussions about adapting the quarter-killing video game were announced in 2020. Ryan Reynolds would play Dirk the Daring, the game’s main protagonist, a knight tasked with rescuing Princess Daphne from Mordroc and Singe. Reynolds’s Maximum Effort would produce the feature alongside George Dewey and Patrick Gooing. Sneider says Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Underground’s Trevor Engelson will also produce with Gary Goldman, Jon Pomeroy, and Don Bluth, who co-created the original game with Rick Dyer.

Acclaimed director Ron Howard surprisingly had a tough time finding a distributor for his upcoming film, Eden. This is even with an all-star cast including Ana De Armas, Sydney Sweeney, Vanessa Kirby, Jude Law and Daniel Bruhl. The film eventually found a distributor when it was acquired by the studio Vertical for domestic distribution and they are looking to cap off the summer by premiering the movie on August 22. Despite this case, Howard is now working with Amazon MGM Studios on a new firefighter movie.

Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are arguably the most recognizable movie stars in the world — that was true in the 1990s, and it's true now. They last appeared together onscreen more than 30 years ago in 1994's "Interview with the Vampire." Play the six degrees of separation game and there's now something else bringing them together.
Joseph Kosinski, director of Cruise in "Oblivion" and "Top Gun: Maverick," is the director of Pitt's latest movie, racing drama "F1." Could Mr. Kosinski bring the two stars back together?
Speaking to E! News at the "F1" premiere in Mexico City on June 9, Pitt was asked about how Cruise has been publicly supporting "F1", which Pitt called "so sweet." Asked if he and Cruise would ever star in another movie together, Pitt said this:
"I'm not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and s*** like that, so when [Cruise] does something again that's on the ground.

2025 is an exciting summer for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hot off the release of "Thunderbolts*," the franchise is set to expand even further into the multiverse with the highly-anticipated release of "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" in July, but some of the biggest news in the film series is happening off-screen. Currently, "Avengers: Doomsday" is in production, though the release of it and "Avengers: Secret Wars" has been pushed back, now set to release in December of 2026 and 2027, respectively.
These new crossover films have already been confirmed to feature the introduction of many "X-Men" characters into the MCU, with the likes of Ian McKellan, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn officially reprising their roles as the mutants Magneto, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Mystique. They'll be joining other "X-Men" characters like Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier or Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, previously brought into the MCU in parallel universes.

While DC Studios announced plans for the Themyscira-set Paradise Lost TV series at the start of 2023, there was no mention of a new Wonder Woman movie. Updates have since been few and far between, despite Superman and The Brave and the Bold being in the works.
That changed this week. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn said, "Wonder Woman's a separate thing, slow moving, but it's moving. We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now."
While many fans have been speculating about who could play the next Diana Prince, some believe Gal Gadot will get another shot at donning the Amazonian's armour. She portrayed the hero in several Dceu movies, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Wonder Woman 1984, Zack Snyder's Justice League, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash.
Gadot's acting abilities were frequently criticised during her stint as the hero.

It goes without saying that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is one of the most heavily-anticipated movies of 2026. For starters, it's the last Marvel Cinematic Universe film ahead of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars - which will both bring about the end of the Multiverse Saga. Although Spidey isn't officially attached to the first of those movies, rumor has it that he might cameo. He's definitely expected to appear in the second.
Spider-Man 4 is also expected to continue on the webslinger's arc in the MCU, giving audiences some much-needed clarity after Spider-Man: No Way Home - the third film in Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy - left Peter Parker's story in a very unique place, with every single person in the MCU forgetting that he existed.

Fans got a taste of who the four main characters in Dune 3 will be as part of a recent insider report, as well as one shocking omission that will have some ready to revolt. The third Dune movie from Arrival director Denis Villeneuve was announced shortly after 2024's acclaimed Dune: Part Two, set to adapt the second book in Frank Herbert's beloved sci-fi book series, Dune: Messiah. Messiah is a different kind of story than the relatively straightforward first book, but that does not mean it will not include the fan-favorite characters fans have come to know and love.
Speaking on a recent podcast, insiders Jeff Sneider and John Rocha shared some new tidbits about the upcoming Dune 3 movie, including who will be the main characters. Most of the inclusions on their list were largely expected; however, one character was missing from their list of leading players, which will raise some eyebrows.

A few weeks ago, we heard (via Jeff Sneider of The InSneider) that Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) in final negotiations to star while Cristin Milioti (The Penguin) is in early talks to join him. Sneider’s source told him that Ejiofor’s deal is all but closed, but Milioti’s involvement is 50-50 at this point. Now, Variety reports that A24 has officially given a greenlight to the project, which has Ejiofor attached to star, with Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) joining him in the cast.

Recent casting news could indicate that Marvel Studios' Blade film is about to lose another key actor. The Blade film was announced way back in 2019, with Mahershala Ali attached as the titular vampire hunter. In the years since, Blade has stopped and started on its journey to production, losing directors, gaining new actors, and remaining in development hell.
Mia Goth was announced to join the Blade cast in April 2023, where she was reported to play the villain, Lilith. However, later that year, the Writers' and Actors Guild strikes put the film back into its perpetual development cycle. More recently, Goth has been attached to another major franchise, with Jeff Sneider reporting she is joining the cast of Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, alongside Ryan Gosling. Starfighter is targeting a May 2027 release date and is expected to film later this year.

With July 11, 2025, right around the corner and the hype for Superman (2025) reaching a fever pitch, director James Gunn, co-chairman and co-chief executive officer of DC Studios, has reportedly been working on the final edits of the highly anticipated Dcu reboot until recently. In fact, the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker was still tinkering with the structure of the new film, which stars David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, just weeks before it was locked.
One surprising narrative element that didn’t survive the final cut of Gunn's Superman is a bold, Quentin Tarantino-style structure that reportedly divided the film into chapters marked by title cards. The approach could’ve brought a fresh, chapter-driven structure rarely seen in Superman films like Man of Steel or Superman Returns. During a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, hosts Jeff Sneider and John Rocha...

Created by Rod Serling in 1959, the anthology series The Twilight Zone has one of the most popular names in entertainment history, and different producers have cashed in on that title many times over the years. The original five season run of the show has been followed by a three-season revival in the ’80s, a one season revival in the early 2000s, a two-season revival (headed up by Jordan Peele) in 2019 to 2020, a feature film (produced by Steven Spielberg) that was released in 1983, and a ’90s TV movie called Twilight Zone: Rod Serling’s Lost Classics. Of course, there have also been books, comic books, and video games. For more than ten years, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way has been trying to develop a new Twilight Zone feature film for Warner Bros., as The Twilight Zone is said to be DiCaprio’s favorite TV show… but it has been a bumpy ride,...
