Exclusive: Hot on the heels of his first Emmy nomination for The White Lotus, Jason Isaacs has come aboard to star opposite Taylor Kitsch and Diego Luna in Eleven Days, the indie hostage thriller from Parkland and Concussion helmer Peter Landesman.

The film takes place in the sweltering heat of a Texas summer in 1974, watching as ruthless prisoner Federico Carrasco takes control of the Huntsville Penitentiary. The prison’s priest, Father Joseph O’Brien — played by Isaacs — joins forces with Jim Estelle (Kitsch), head of the Texas Department of Corrections, by entering the eye of the storm and offering himself as a hostage to out-game Carrasco and his men, in an attempt to save the lives of the other hostages that have been taken.

Script is by Kevin Sheridan with revisions by Landesman, based on the book Eleven Days In Hell: The 1974 Carrasco Prison Siege at Huntsville, Texas by William T. Harper.

That’s how Pete Davidson’s actress girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, confirmed on Instagram on Wednesday that the couple is expecting their first child together. Hewitt posted a carousel of intimate images, showing some sweet couple moments as well as a video clip from inside a doctor’s office at an ultrasound appointment. The reports started a week ago when Brady and Vergara boarded the Luminara Superyacht among many other A-Listers including Martha Stewart, Naomi Campbell, Kendall Jenner, Kate Hudson and Colman Domingo for a two-night luxury voyage. Don't be surprised if Season 4 of The White Lotus suddenly changes locations to Fiji. Even though the next season of the hit series is reportedly moving back to Europe, during a recent interview with Variety, HBO Max CEO and content chairman Casey Bloys revealed that series' creator Mike White's creative process is influenced by the places he visits — and currently the writer is filming the all-star 50th season of reality competition series Survivor in the South Pacific.

During the interview, Bloys commented that chances are that White is "observing his fellow contestants and taking notes and getting ideas" while he films Survivor's landmark season and that the great thing about the showrunner is that he "always has the show in his head worked out." On Tuesday, the third season of the HBO series created by Mike White — who also directs, writes and executive produces the show — earned 23 Emmy nominations. It tied with Apple’s The Studio, which Seth Rogen co-created, co-wrote, directed and starred in. The noms fall just slightly behind HBO’s The Penguin, which scored 24, while Apple’s Severance picked up 27 nods, the highest amount for a show this year.

Season three of White Lotus, which centers around guests’ stay at a luxury resort, ran for seven weeks earlier this year, with the season finale airing on Sunday, April 6. This latest season starred Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, Natasha Rothwell, Sam Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jon Gries and Sam Rockwell.

Goggins, Isaacs and Rockwell are nominated in the best supporting actor in a drama series category.

Even as a show known for its twists, Paradise still managed to pull off a few surprises on Emmy nominations morning. The Hulu series secured four nominations total, all in major categories.

The first season of the show from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman was nominated for Best Drama Series, Drama Actor for its lead Sterling K. Brown, Drama Supporting Actor for James Marsden, and Drama Supporting Actress for Julianne Nicholson (a double nominee today).

And while Brown's nomination was predicted by Gold Derby users, the other three were far from sure things.

This morning, Paradise was sitting at No. 9 in the Best Drama Series predictions, just outside the range of nominations. It ultimately snuck into the category when the sixth-ranked show, Squid Game, failed to make the cut.

The upsets were even more extreme in Marsden's and Nicholson's categories. Both the supporting actor and supporting actress were sitting at No.

The 2025 Emmy Awards failed to recognize a number of longtime favorites with nominations, with past winners Squid Game, Elisabeth Moss, Jon Hamm, Ted Danson and past nominees Yellowjackets and Selena Gomez not nominated this year.

Squid Game, which won six Emmys including the top prize of best drama actor for Lee Jung-jae for its first season in 2022, saw its second season completely absent from this year’s nominations. The hit Netflix series’ third and final season will be eligible for next year’s awards.

Similarly, The Handmaid’s Tale was once so adored by Emmy voters that it received multiple nominations in 2019 solely off of hanging episodes. The adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel of the same name, which won best drama series for its first season in 2017, only scored one nomination for Cherry Jones’ guest role, leaving out the rest of its acclaimed cast, including star Moss, who also...

HBO Max has a lot to celebrate these days. After receiving a new makeover back to its former title, and officially bringing back the "HBO" part to the streaming service, Warner Bros.' platform has more reasons for joy.

The 2025 Emmy Nominations are out, and HBO Max has scored a new record. Per Variety, the network has set a new high with a total of 142 nominations. The haul comes from hit shows like The Penguin, The White Lotus Season 3, The Last of Us Season 2, and Hacks Season 4.

The network's previous record was in 2020, when it received 140 nominations. Now, it has surpassed it with two meaningful additions. However, HBO Max has yet to feature the all-time record, which is held by Netflix, a feat it reached in 2020. This year, Netflix had significantly less, with 120 nominations, ranking second behind HBO Max. In 2024, the streaming platform had 107 nominations, so the new number is exciting.

'Tis the day of the Emmys and all through the house, surprises are stirring and snubs are inspiring grouse. While fans of Hacks, Severance, and The White Lotus had plenty to cheer about, Squid Game, The Handmaid's Tale and The Voice are among the high-profile shows that went overlooked by voters. It will go up against Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance and Slow Horses.

The show had nine contenders in the supporting actor category, but only three earned nominations: Walton Goggins as Rick, Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff, and Sam Rockwell as Frank. These three consistently ranked among Gold Derby’s top five contenders, with Goggins leading the pack.

Per Variety, Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton has joined the cast of an untitled supernatural limited series at Netflix created by Jesse McKeown. The series logline reads, "When a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town, a hard-bitten fisherman (Hartnett) must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life."

McKeown is best known for his work as a writer on the cop drama 19-2, the Hulu comedy Letterkenny, and the superhero Netflix series The Umbrella Academy. Harnett has recently appeared in Oppenheimer and The Bear. Davis is best known for Black Mirror and Blade Runner 2049.

It’s off to the races for Glen Powell, who stars in the first trailer for The Running Man, Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel.

The film takes place in the near-future, in which contestants must spend 30 days surviving being hunted by deadly assassins for a chance at an ever-growing cash prize, all while the proceedings are broadcast on TV. Powell stars as a father attempting to help his daughter.

“I have never worked harder on a movie in my life,” said Powell at CinemaCon in April, where he debuted the first footage from the film, which has has a Nov. 7 release date from Paramount.

Wright wrote the script with Michael Bacall, basing the work off of King’s 1982 novel that has been praised for predicting the rise of reality TV culture, albeit taking it to the extreme.

Schwarzenegger said during a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” (in the below video) that, instead of not taking much of a salary for his work on the film, he opted for a deal for a percentage of its box office gross. The feature ended up making $216 million worldwide in theaters, and continued to profit with a home video release.
