Season 2 of the smash-hit video game adaptation Fallout is still a ways away, but Prime Video's ready to set the world on fire today. During its upfront presentation, Amazon announced that the series, based on the post-apocalyptic RPGs created by Interplay Entertainment and Bethesda, has already been renewed for a third season. The news isn't particularly shocking, given that the show is one of the platform's top three most-watched titles and Season 1 has been seen by over 100 million viewers, but it's definitely earlier than expected to arrange another stint in the wasteland. It's just one of two atomic bomb announcements to come from the world of Fallout, as Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Aaron Moten also appeared during the upfront to announce a much earlier-than-expected December 2025 premiere for Season 2.

Amazon's annual upfront presentation is underway tonight, and with it comes a few atomic bombshells for fans of Fallout. Filming just finished last week on Season 2, which seemed to line up the series for a return sometime next year, depending on post-production. However, the stars of Prime Video's record-breaking video game adaptation — Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Aaron Moten — all took the stage at the event to announce that they'll be returning to the wasteland well before then. Though an exact date has yet to be settled, the series will be back on the small screen this December.
The exact story for Season 2 isn't known yet, but it will take the main trio of wasteland survivors to the Mojave Desert after that climactic finale at the Griffith Observatory. Season 1 largely followed Lucy (Purnell) as she left Vault 33 in search of her kidnapped dad, only to get wrapped up in a...

“Fallout” nabbed a very early Season 3 renewal months before the premiere of it’s second season.
The Prime Video video game adaptation returns for Season 2 in December 2025, but plans for more are already well underway. The streamer announced at its Upfronts event that the post-apocalyptic series had already been renewed for a third season.

We're returning to the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Southern California sooner than one might think. That's right, Prime Video's acclaimed series based on the video game of the same name, Fallout, has officially wrapped production on Season 2. To celebrate, the show's official social media handles posted about this unlocked achievement in the best way they knew how: with a video of Walton Goggins ripping his Ghoulish face off for all the world to see. Because who doesn't need more Walton Goggins in their life right now, you feel me? With The White Lotus andThe Righteous Gemstonesno longer on our screens, we were afraid we might have to traverse this arid clime with nary a whiff of Walt. Thankfully, the universe threw us a face-melted bone.

We're officially one step closer to returning to the wasteland and visiting New Vegas. Ella Purnell announced on Instagram that Season 2 of the smash-hit Fallout has wrapped filming, sharing a photo of her with her on-screen dad, Kyle MacLachlan. The update marks the end of a months-long production beginning in November and starts the countdown before the new episodes drop on Prime Video. Assuming a similar post-production schedule to the first run, Lucy and Hank MacLean could be back on our screens in a bit over a year, landing the premiere sometime within the spring or summer of 2026.
Season 2 of Fallout will heavily revolve around both Lucy and Hank after the final confrontation at the Griffith Observatory in Season 1. The finale finally brought the show's three leads — the aforementioned vault dweller, the Brotherhood of Steel member Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul, formerly known as Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins) — together...

The second season of Prime Video's critically-acclaimed video game adaptation Fallout is still in production, but that hasn't stopped one of its main stars from teasing a "magical" new batch of episodes that elevates the series to another level. Walton Goggins, who recently starred in The White Lotus Season 3 and currently appears in The Righteous Gemstones, will once again be featured as the gun-toting immortal cowboy Ghoul in Fallout Season 2. He recently gave out some exciting details about the upcoming season, which "really starts cooking."
During an interview with Complex, Goggins was quick to praise Fallout Season 2, teasing fans that it will reach another level as a result of the first season laying the groundwork for the post-apocalyptic world and all of its quirks. As someone who has formed part of several beloved shows that have gone on for more than one season, Goggins is especially equipped to make this statement.

It’ll be a while until viewers return to the apocalyptic wasteland in Prime Video’s Fallout, but, nevertheless, Walton Goggins is providing an update to the second season of the breakout drama.

It’s really gonna be something. I can’t wait for people to see it. We’re working really hard to make that happen.”

Fallout is already regarded as one of the best live-action video game adaptations of all time, and for good reason. Featuring stellar acting and polished visuals, it did not take long for Prime Video to renew Fallout for a second season. Although news about Season 2 has remained behind closed doors, a new casting addition may have just leaked online. One of the more underrated MCU stars from the past few years is joining another adaptation of an iconic franchise in Fallout Season 2.
According to industry reporter Jeff Sneider, Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani is set to join the second season of Fallout. Known for also starring in The Big Sick, Stuber, and the award-winning HBO comedy Silicone Valley, Nanjiani should prove to be another fascinating addition to the genre-bending post-apocalyptic series. It's easy to see how he would fit in with the hilariously dark and twisted show, especially thanks to his comedic talents.

Los Angeles area wildfires have forced many television shows, including Fallout and Grey's Anatomy to halt production. Officials warn that more filming permits may be revoked going forward.
FilmLA, who issues permits for shoots in Los Angeles, released a statement about the fires. Due to the devastating wildfires that are currently raging throughout parts of Southern California, however, this filming date has tentatively been pushed back to Friday. Why did the cast of After We Fell change, recasting Landon and other major characters in the After series? Many characters were surprisingly (and perhaps confusingly) recast for After We Fell, and there were a few factors that drove the cast shuffle for the third movie. Though the turbulent teen romance did retain its two lead lovers, complications caused many actors to be unable to participate in not only After We Fell but also its sequel, After Ever Happy. Unfortunately, the After We Fell recast was outside any one person's control and will have a big impact on the rest of the film series.
Indeed, the After We Fell cast actually faces quite a common issue in serial movie storytelling. With the recast of key characters like Carol, Christian, and Landon after the second movie in the After series, things can get confusing for some audiences. Here's why they changed...

The Prime Video TV series adaptation of the popular Fallout video game franchise already had a second season in the works before the first season even started streaming – which turned out to be a good move, because Fallout quickly became Prime Video’s second most-watched title (after The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), drawing in 65 million viewers in its first 16 days of release. Now, we’ve learned that Fallout season 2 has started filming, and we’ve been tipped off by the fact that Walton Goggins, who plays The Ghoul, shared an image on social media that shows him getting back into Ghoul character.

The Boys season 5 gets a new update, with creator Eric Kripke unveiling an intriguing title for episode 1. First released on Prime Video in 2019, the hit superhero satire has become one of the streamer's most popular offerings. After the release of season 4 earlier this year, which continues Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) bloody quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr), The Boys season 5 is confirmed to bring the show to an end, with production getting underway in Toronto this month.
Kripke now takes to X, formerly Twitter, to share an image of the script title page for The Boys season 5, episode 1, revealing the title to be "Fifteen Inches Of Sheer Dynamite." The title page also confirms that episode 1 was penned by Paul Grellong and directed by Phil Sgriccia, both of whom are also executive producers on the show. Kripke's post includes a "#DayOne" hashtag, seemingly confirming that filming is now underway. Check out Kripke's post below:

The Prime Video TV series adaptation of the popular Fallout video game franchise already had a second season in the works before the first season even started streaming – which turned out to be a good move, because Fallout quickly became Prime Video’s second most-watched title (after The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), drawing in 65 million viewers in its first 16 days of release. Seven months after the show premiered, Deadline has learned that Macaulay Culkin, best known for starring in the first two Home Alone movies, has joined the cast of Fallout season 2. Details on his character are being kept under wraps, but Deadline was able to learn that he’ll be playing the recurring role of “a crazy genius-type character.”
While the first season was primarily filmed in New York (with some filming also taking place in Utah), production is moving to California for season 2. That...

Culkin’s recent credits include providing a voice on “The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy,” as well as multiple episodes of “The Righteous Gemstones” and as part of the cast of “American Horror Story: Double Feature.

The Boys season 5 adds a new actor to its cast, as a Stranger Things star joins as a new Supe. Created by Eric Kripke, Prime Video's hit superhero parody show returned for season 4 earlier this year, continuing Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought. The Boys season 5 is now confirmed to bring the show to an end, with a roster of both new and old Supes assembling for the final episodes.
Variety now reports that actor Mason Dye has been cast in The Boys season 5 as Bombsight. Though details regarding the character haven't yet been released, Bombsight was mentioned in season 4 as a Supe who appeared in "The Curse of Fu Manchu," a 1950s Vought superhero movie. As for where audiences will have seen Dye previously, the actor recently appeared in Stranger Things season 4 as Jason Carver, a Hawkins High basketball star and supporting antagonist.

If you were surprised by Cooper Howard/The Ghoul’s wife Barb being one of the key members behind the bombs being dropped in “Fallout” Season 1, you weren’t the only one.
“Frances Turner plays my wife and she is just an extraordinary actor. I so enjoyed their relationship as it was revealed to me over time,” star Walton Goggins told TheWrap. “We didn’t get all the scripts at once. I think we got the first three or four. There were conversations about where that relationship was headed, but I didn’t see it going there. I had an idea that something nefarious was afoot, but I didn’t realize that my wife was going to be the one who architected the ending of the world.”

“I’ve always felt throughout my career that you can always get the audience to a slightly darker place if you tell them a couple of jokes along the way,” says Fallout executive producer/director Jonathan Nolan about the approach and tone the multi-Emmy-nominated Prime Video drama has taken in its debut season.
Joined by fellow EP and co-showrunner Graham Wagner and star Walton Goggins, Nolan was speaking at Deadline’s virtual Contenders Television: The Nominees event.
Portlandia alum Wagner agrees with Nolan’s Pov on mixed-genre storytelling.
“I think that good drama has humor, and it always has,” the showrunner says. “As we’ve sort of seen in the last 20 years, great calamities can happen, and humans are still going to be idiosyncratic, weird and a little, I don’t love the word quirky, but little quirky.”

Cosplayer Jo Steel transforms into The Ghoul from Fallout using impressive makeup and prosthetics. The Ghoul plays a key role in Fallout season 1, introducing Lucy to the harsh world of the post-apocalypse and helping to flesh out Vault-Tec's sinister plans. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are longtime friends, but the two had never worked together. “Fallout” proved to be the perfect starting point. “Graham wrote one of my very favorite unproduced pilots ever, which was to the great ‘Star Trek’ show ‘Worf,’ which Graham always described as the ‘Baskets’ of a ‘Star Trek’ show,” Robertson-Dworet tells Gold Derby (watch above). “But I think what it showed me was that he has a really unique sensibility and he brought to that show — which is a very popular world that has been explored and very serious sci-fi tone for a long time — a lot of just sort of surprising comedy. And I think that was what ‘Fallout’ needed and I was very excited to partner with my longtime friend Graham. And when [Jonathan Nolan] offered me the IP for ‘Fallout,’ I knew I was never gonna do it alone. I was only...

“Fallout 76” has found a whole new world of players thanks to the popularity of Amazon’s “Fallout” TV series. The Bethesda Game Studios title, which first launched in October 2018, crossed 20 million downloads and plays as of Wednesday.
That is a jump from the 17 million players “Fallout 76” had totaled in December, ahead of the April 10 release of Jonathan Nolan’s “Fallout” TV adaptation on Prime Video.
“It’s kind of been sneaky popular for a while — but not to this level and it’s just been really great for the for the whole studio,” Bethesda director and executive producer Todd Howard, who oversees the “Fallout” franchise, told Variety.
In the under two months since the series premiered (and has already been picked up for a second season), daily active users across the “Fallout” video game franchise titles developed and published by Bethesda, a division of Microsoft Gaming, have ballooned over 600% to more than 5 million players.

One Subtle Cooper Howard Line In Fallout Season 1 Teases A Future Appearance Of This Dangerous Vault
Spoilers are ahead for Fallout season 1.
Cooper Howard's past as an actor intersects with key Fallout moments, hinting at future storylines. Cooper's mention of Bakersfield alludes to Necropolis and Vault 12's potential appearance in the series. Fallout season 3 may explore Cooper's dreams in present-day Necropolis, raising the stakes post-New Vegas.
In Fallout season 1, the flashbacks to 2077 are just as revealing as the moments set in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland of 2296. Given that Walton Goggins' mutated bounty hunter, The Ghoul, is the former Hollywood star Cooper Howard, the character's story, in particular, unfolds across both of Fallout's timelines. During the first season, viewers learn that the actor was a Marine long before his wife, Barb (Frances Turner), encouraged him to be Vault-Tec's ambassador. As Cooper Howard explores what happened to his family, Barb and their daughter, Janey (Teagan Meredith), keep him going even in the present.

Fallout has become one of Prime Video’s biggest series ever — according to Prime Video.
The well-reviewed show, based on the video game franchise of the same name, has become the second-most-watched title ever on the Amazon streaming service over its first 16 days of release, the company says. Prime Video says 65 million viewers worldwide have watched at least some of Fallout since its April 10 premiere, putting the show behind only The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in the streamer’s catalog.
Global audiences have powered a majority of that viewing: More than 60 percent of Fallout’s audience is outside the United States. The (limited) data from Amazon jibes with that from outside sources like Samba TV, Luminate and Reelgood, all of which have tracked a strong start for the series (Nielsen’s streaming data lags by several weeks).

“Fallout” is proving to be far from a (nuclear) bomb for Amazon’s Prime Video.
According to the streamer, the series pulled in 65 million viewers in its first 16 days of availability, with the first season dropping in its entirety on April 10. That makes it the second most-watched title ever on the platform and the most-watched title since the debut on “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” back in 2022.
Amazon also says the show is its most-watched ever among adults 18-34, with 60% of the show’s audience coming from outside the United States. In particular, the UK, France, and Brazil have all proven to be hubs for the show’s popularity. It should be noted, however, that Amazon has not released any data on how viewers are counted, especially when it comes to completion of the show. Spoilers are ahead for Fallout season 1.
Set within the franchise's canonical timeline, Fallout season 1 boasts plenty of references to other stories from the series. However, one of Fallout's best Easter eggs appears in Cooper Howard's (Walton Goggins) backstory. A seemingly throwaway line, the brilliant nod actually references one of the sci-fi comedy flicks that helped inspire the original Fallout. The show's main events unfold 219 years after the Great War's bombs decimated the United States, but that doesn't mean 2077's Cooper Howard, a charming Hollywood actor-turned-spokesperson for Vault-Tec, is dead. In fact, the undying actor roams the Wasteland as The Ghoul.
The Ghoul reveals himself to be a gun-for-hire with a very clear set of morals.
After prolonged exposure to intense radiation, Cooper's visage mutated, earning him the moniker of The Ghoul. While other surface-dwelling people have undergone the phenomenon of ghoulification, very few have their wits about them, and many have turned feral.

The Fallout series, based on the post-apocalyptic game franchise, is making fans fascinated with the fresh concept they brought on-screen. Without adapting the games’ characters and stories, the show has successfully inculcated the Fallout universe events in the show. With the show renewed for another season, fans are excited about what more would the show be serving next.

Fallout has become a big hit for Prime Video, and the streaming service has officially announced the second renewal of the post-apocalyptic drama. The renewal comes as no surprise given the show's popularity and because the series received a large tax credit incentive to move filming of season two to California.

Spoilers are ahead for Fallout season 1's ending.
Cooper Howard's journey from war hero to Hollywood actor to Vault-Tec spokesperson is a central focus of Fallout season 1. The Battle of Anchorage, a pivotal event in Fallout lore, plays a significant role in shaping Cooper Howard's backstory. With the revelation that Vault-Tec caused the nuclear exchange, Fallout season 2 may explore the tensions that led to the world-altering moment in 2077.
Over the course of its 8-episode run, Fallout season 1 addresses a lot of franchise lore, but it isn't able to cover everything in the extensive Fallout timeline. Set 219 years after the bombs drop on the US, the Amazon Prime Video TV show captures the world of Fallout at a unique moment — a moment that follows every pre-existing mainline game. Vault Dweller Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) and Brotherhood of Steel acolyte Maximus (Aaron Moten) only know the US as a Wasteland, but...
