Anisong Singer Hiroko Moriguchi to Release 40th Anniversary Album in Winter 2025

Hiroko Moriguchi , best known for her theme song works for the Mobile Suit Gundam anime franchise, will release her debut's 40th anniversary album in the winter of 2025. Moriguchi made her singer debut with "Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete" ( Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam second opening theme) in August 1985, releasing 34 singles and 11 original albums. In August 2021, she released her debut's 35th anniversary album "Aoi Inochi." Because "Aoi Inochi" included seven songs while her yet-titled upcoming 40th anniversary album will include 11, her official website states that the latter will be her first "full" original album in 28 years since "happy happy blue" released in 1997. Various artists and writers who have provided songs to Moriguchi in the past will participate in this 40th anniversary album. For the first time in 40 years, lyricist Masao Urino , who wrote her debut song “Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete,” and singer-songwriter and composer Neil Sedaka, will team up.

The official YouTube channel for singer Hiroko Moriguchi started streaming a music video for "Gin'iro Dress (Orchestra Version),” another song from her upcoming new Gundam song cover album "Gundam Song Covers -Orchestra-" set to release on June 18, 2025. "Gin'iro Dress" ("Silver Colored Dress") was included in Moriguchi's debut single in 1985, "Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete,” and used as the insert song for the 20th episode of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam TV anime. Although the song was used only once in the anime, it became highly popular among fans because the scene was one of the most famous scenes in the history of the Gundam franchise. The Japan Pops Orchestra from Tacticart Orchestra, a group of young musicians active in Japan and abroad also participated in the album, which includes a total of ten orchestra-arranged Gundam songs from various eras, and this video is a documentary showing how the orchestra and Moriguchi worked together.

Her debut single "Mizu no Hoshi he Ai wo Komete" ( Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam TV anime's second opening theme) released 39 years ago on the same day, August 7, 1985. Based on the concept of “Gundam song cover albums for adults,” Moriguchi released three “Gundam Song Covers” albums from 2019 to 2022.
