Kevin Costner admitted he is in no rush to watch the mid-season premiere of his hit neo-Western drama “Yellowstone,” adding that he only just learned it even returned on Sunday night.

“I found out about it this morning, actually,” the actor, who starred as John Dutton on the Paramount Network series for 4.5 seasons, told Michael Smerconish on SiriusXM on Monday morning.

“I’m going to be perfectly honest, I didn’t know it was actually airing last night. That’s a ‘Swear to God’ moment. I mean, I’ve been seeing ads with my face all over the place, and I’m thinking, ‘Gee, I’m not in that one. I’m not in this season.’ But, I didn’t realize yesterday was the thing,” Costner said.

In the two years since “Yellowstone” Season 5, Part 1 aired, the actor/director has been busy with his own Western movie franchise, “Horizon: An American Saga.

Starting this week, the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed news outlet will fill the hour with a range of different special reports, all under the rubric of “CNN Primetime.” Future 9 p.m. hours could include one-on-one interviews with newsmakers; town halls that put government officials in direct contact with the people affected by policy decisions; and other programs that feature surprising “gets” and scoops. The programming gambit backs away from the tried-and-true practice of relying on a single anchor or opinion host in the time slot, home to Sean Hannity, Alex Wagner and Rachel Maddow, and banks instead on creative ways of analyzing the news cycle.

Smerconish is slated to fill in for Cuomo all next week, according to a spokesman, and the move isn’t necessarily surprising. Smerconish has worked Cuomo’s show in the past when the anchor has been on vacation. But he is the latest to take the reins at 9 p.m. after CNN’s decision to suspend Cuomo after new revelations about work he was doing for his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, while his sibling faced multiple accusations of sexual harassment. Gov. Cuomo has denied wrongdoing, but the flurry of claims forced him out of office.

CNN said earlier this week that Chris Cuomo was suspended “indefinitely, pending further evaluation,” as it reviews his actions.

Exclusive: Michael Smerconish – Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Talking, a feature-length filmed version of the radio and TV host’s stage performance, has been acquired by Virgil Films.

The film will hit virtual cinemas October 30 and on VOD and DVD on December 8.

A new Meek Mill song about police brutality released in the wake of George Floyd’s killing at the hands of Minneapolis cops has an unexpected featured artist: CNN’s Michael Smerconish.

The song, “The Otherside of America,” opens with President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign appeal to black voters — “What do you have to lose?” — and ends with a 2018 exchange between Smerconish and the rapper, born Robert Rihmeek Williams, who explained to Smerconish that he grew up in a neighborhood where police didn’t protect people and, thus, people had to protect themselves.

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders doesn’t seem to be forgiving – or at least forgetting – the Nazi army metaphor that now seems like the beginning of the end for Chris Matthews at MSNBC.

A day after Joe Biden’s Super Tuesday victory, Sanders told reporters that his own campaign has had to face “venom by some in corporate media” – and he used the Matthews gaffe as an example.

Although not mentioning the now-retired Hardball host by name, Sanders said today that “there has not been a campaign that has been having to deal with the venom by some in the corporate media. This campaign has been compared to the coronavirus on television. We have been described as the Nazi army marching across France.”

CNN host Michael Smerconish apparently thinks there may be a correlation between Sen. Bernie Sanders’ surging presidential campaign and the deadly coronavirus outbreak causing fear across the globe.

Smerconish introduced his bizarre theory on Saturday morning’s installment of his self-titled show, Smerconish.

“Can either coronavirus or Bernie Sanders be stopped?” he pondered before attempting to explain what he was talking about.

“An already unpredictable presidential campaign just became more so. A list of intangibles which included the impact of impeachment, a large Democratic field, congested candidate lanes, and the looming prospect of no one getting the majority of delegates needed to secure the nomination before the convention now includes the spread of a deadly virus,” Smerconish stated.

His commentary was accompanied by a banner across the screen blaring: “Can Either Coronavirus or Bernie Sanders Be Stopped?”

CNN posted video of the segment on Twitter, but the banner had been removed.

Donna Rotunno, one of Harvey Weinstein’s lead attorneys, says the sheer number of women who have come forward to accuse the disgraced movie mogul of sexual misconduct could actually help him in his criminal trial, which begins on Monday.

During a Saturday morning interview with CNN, host Michael Smerconish asked Rotunno how the court would be able to find a “fair and impartial jury” given that more than 100 women have publicly accused Weinstein of misconduct.
