Emma Stone didn’t mind shaving her head for Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film Bugonia, but the experience did make her quite emotional.
After debuting a first look at the project at CinemaCon earlier this year, a clip from the teaser showcased the two-time Oscar winner with the haircut. In her Monday cover story with Vogue, the actress opened up about the mixed experience of shaving her head for the role.
“No better feeling in the world,” she said when describing what it felt like to chop off her hair. “The first shower when you’ve shaved your head? Oh my God, it’s amazing.”
However, Stone revealed that before they executed the cut mid-shot for Bugonia, she “burst into tears in her trailer” when remembering her mother, Krista Stone, who previously shaved her head during breast cancer treatment.
“She actually did something brave,” Stone recalled thinking to herself at the time.

Netflix's new smash hit with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score has become the streaming service's second most-watched movie in history. Since 2021, Netflix's most-watched movie of all time has been Red Notice, sitting at 230.9 million views. However, the star-studded action-comedy featuring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot could be unseated by Netflix's new smash hit very soon.
Some of Netflix's most-watched movies of all time also include Carry-On (2024), an action thriller starring Taron Egerton, and Don't Look Up (2021), Adam McKay's star-studded political satire featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, and many more. Another Ryan Reynolds vehicle, The Adam Project (2022), also ranks within the top five.
Sandra Bullock's post-apocalyptic thriller Bird Box (2018) still holds a place in the top 10, alongside newer sensations like Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz's action-comedy Back in Action (2025) and Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmai's star-studded apocalyptic thriller Leave the World Behind (2023), featuring Julia Roberts,...

Jennifer Lawrence says she initially tried to talk Emma Stone out of shaving her head for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, a choice Stone ultimately made and filmed on camera for a pivotal kidnapping scene. The detail surfaces in a new magazine profile, where Lawrence jokes she had already “lived through” Stone’s short Billie Jean King cut years ago and feared another drastic chop; she later conceded the look suited her friend.
Stone plays a pharmaceutical CEO abducted by two conspiracy obsessives who shear her hair in the back seat of a stolen SUV; the moment was executed practically, with Stone’s real hair falling to the upholstery. She describes the experience as unexpectedly exhilarating—down to the first post-scene shower—and links the decision to memories of her mother losing hair during cancer treatment. Stone also quips that before cameras rolled, she took clippers to Lanthimos’ head.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Wedding Drama (Photo Credit – Facebook/Wikimedia)
So picture this: Jennifer Lawrence kicked Robert De Niro out of her wedding rehearsal dinner. Yeah, you read that right. Hollywood royalty got the boot. And honestly? It’s giving chaotic wedding energy, and we’re here for it.
So, Jen tied the knot with Cooke Maroney back in 2019. Fast forward a few years, they’ve got a little one named Cy, and life’s all cute and cozy. But rewind to the big day prep? Absolute mayhem. Wedding stress is real, but toss in guests like Adele, Kris Jenner, and De Niro himself? That’s a whole different circus.
Jen admitted it herself—wedding planning had her on edge. “It’s so stressful. You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?’” she said at the Golden Globes. And on top of that, there was the cold.

Here’s What Ridley Scott Said About Turning Down Blade Runner 2049 (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Let’s take a moment to picture this: Ridley Scott stuck in a sci-fi dilemma for the ages. The chance to direct the sequel to one of the genre’s greatest films or stick with the dark, suspense-filled world of Alien? The man didn’t have to make that choice, but… he did. And looking back, Scott doesn’t wear it as a badge of honor. “I shouldn’t have had to make that decision,” he once admitted to Empire (via Variety), adding, “But I had to. I should have done Blade Runner 2.”
Here’s a truth bomb from the king of dystopian cinema: Ridley Scott passed on directing Blade Runner 2049 in 2017 because he was knee-deep in Alien: Covenant. Tough choice, but he made it. Instead of diving back into replicant territory, he...

Jennifer Lawrence admitted to Vogue as part of Emma Stone’s new cover story that she originally argued against Stone shaving all her hair off for Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming “Bugonia,” a reimagining of the 2003 South Korean film “Save the Green Planet!” that casts Stone as a pharmaceutical CEO who gets kidnapped by a pair of conspiracy theorists (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) convinced she is an alien set on destroying Earth.
“I really didn’t want her to shave her head,” Lawrence said about her two-time Oscar-winning friend. “I had already lived through the Billie Jean King haircut.”
Lawrence is referring to the hairdo Stone rocked in “Battle of the Sexes,” in which she played the iconic tennis player Billie Jean King. For “Bugonia,” Stone channeled her inner Natalie Portman in “V for Vendetta” and shaved her hair off on camera while filming a scene for the dark comedy in...

Jennifer Lawernce felt guilty after sleeping with her Marvel co-star (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Jennifer Lawrence has performed standout in several films, including Oscar-winning roles in Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games, and X-Men movies. While her portrayal has made her one of Hollywood’s most compelling talents, her role in Passengers was equally lauded.
In Passengers, Lawrence stars as Aurora Lane, a writer who is one of the many passengers in stasis on a spaceship traveling to a distant colony. As she is woken prematurely alongside Chris Pratt’s character, she faces emotional and ethical dilemmas as she adjusts to the isolation. Though her character was perfectly blended with the film, she once opened up about filming the intimate scenes between her and Pratt.

The Naked Gun Reboot: Box Office Recovers Budget But Misses Big Theatrical Milestones (Photo Credit – Instagram)
The Naked Gun reboot arrived with strong reviews last week but has not taken off at the box office like Paramount hoped. Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson lead the cast in this new take on the classic franchise that began with Leslie Nielsen’s hit trilogy. This trilogy came from the old Police Squad TV show, so the story is not new, yet that familiarity has not drawn in crowds as much as expected.
The Naked Gun was So Good.
It’s non-stop blink and you miss it jokes & it never tries to be anything more than really fucking funny.
I know you’re tempted to wait and catch this one at home, but trust me – you don’t remember how good it feels to see a real comedy in a theater. pic.twitter.

Ben Affleck On Drinking Struggles Amid Marriage To Jennifer Garner (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Ben Affleck opened up during an appearance on the Howard Stern Show (via People), admitting that if he hadn’t split from Jennifer Garner, he likely would still be struggling with alcohol. The actor, who shares three children with Garner—Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel—revealed how trapped and overwhelmed he felt in their marriage. “We probably would’ve ended up at each other’s throats,” he said. “I’d probably still be drinking.” Affleck explained that his drinking wasn’t just about partying—it began because he felt stuck, burdened by parental responsibilities and unhappiness in the relationship.

Famed YouTuber MrBeast, real name James Donaldson, admitted he had been planning to recreate Jennifer Lawrence’s The Hunger Games into a YouTube survival show. As much as this sounds like an exciting endeavor, the criticisms of his previous Squid Game project, such as the alleged unfair treatment of participants and the poor environment conditions, might become an obstacle.
While speaking on Today’s show, he gave a tidbit of info on the new game’s concept. Foregoing the deadly weapons, the rule from the original movie stays the same: only one will be hailed as the victor.
I’ve been sitting on this idea where it’d be fun to grab potentially 26 random people to put them on an island, and then not use real weapons, maybe like laser tag or something like that – and then the last remaining one wins $1 million to recreate Hunger Games in real life.

Let’s be honest: A real-life Hunger Games sounds absolutely terrifying. Even when Netflix announced that they would be making a reality game show based on the South Korean drama Squid Game, which also features a high-stakes competition where people fight to the death until one victor is chosen, we were left wondering: “Who asked for this?”
Of course, there was no killing involved in the Netflix game show, but there are striking similarities between the South Korean drama and the dystopian book series written by Suzanne Collins. Squid Game: The Challenge drew criticism before and after its release for a range of offenses, from exploiting players to making them play in cruel conditions. However, the show went on to become quite popular: according to The Hollywood Reporter, Squid Game: The Challenge garnered 1.42 billion minutes of viewing in the United States during its first week. Set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s name was drawn, Sunrise on the Reaping begins on the morning of the 50th Hunger Games — the infamous Second Quarter Quell. The story follows District 12’s Haymitch Abernathy (played by Joseph Zada) through the brutal arena experience that forged the sharp-tongued,...

Chris Pratt is hard at work right now filming the second season of The Terminal List, but long before he ever suited up as James Reece, he starred in a space sci-fi epic that’s soaring on streaming charts. Pratt stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) and Michael Sheen (Good Omens) in Passengers, a 2016 film that follows a traveler who wakes up 90 years early on his journey to a distant colony planet. Passengers is streaming on HBO Max globally, where it’s one of the top 10 movies for the streamer in more than 15 countries, including Iceland, France, and Romania. The film earned a 30% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes but a decent 63% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. Poor critical reviews didn’t stop it from grossing $303 million globally against a $110 million budget.
Passengers is, tragically, not streaming anywhere in the U.S. at the time of writing. However, due to the film’s rising popularity,...

Darren Aronofsky movies aren't known for being particularly straightforward, and his 2017 horror film "Mother!" is no exception. Jennifer Lawrence stars as the titular Mother, who spends the movie's runtime trying to fix up and take care of a dilapidated Victorian house while her husband, Him (Javier Bardem), mostly wanders around making things worse. The allegorical tale also stars Ed Harris as "man" and Michelle Pfeiffer as his wife, "woman," who visit with their family and wreak all kinds of havoc on the home. "Mother!" is a truly wild yet misunderstood horror film that's operating on multiple levels at once, telling a creation myth with a heavy environmental lesson about humanity's impact on the Earth while also delivering an examination of singular creatives and their process. It's a Bible story, an allegory about global warming, and a meta-commentary on making movies, all wrapped in one two-hour package.

The first film introduced Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, with the rest of the cast including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, and Woody Harrelson, among others. The 20th Century Fox era of X-Men movies got an emotional send-off last year at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine. But fans will remember that, in 2019, the franchise was curb-stomped into oblivion by Dark Phoenix, the fourth installment of the reboot series that began with X-Men: First Class. The movie tanked commercially and with the critics, and is said to have lost the studio hundreds of millions of dollars just before Fox and its assets were sold to Disney. The X-Men will soon be introduced afresh in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the highest-grossing film franchise in history, just like the recently released The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The movie delivered a decent opening weekend haul but witnessed an unexpectedly hefty drop in its sophomore frame. To make matters worse, The Fantastic Four is underperforming in overseas markets, where it still trails Dark Phoenix.

Before Adam Sandler teed up again in Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix, his most critically acclaimed movie, Uncut Gems, nearly cast Scarlett Johansson in a lead role opposite Sandler; the role was originally written for newcomer Julia Fox.
In a June episode of the Jay Shetty Podcast, Fox revealed that although the Safdie brothers wrote the character of Julia De Fiore specifically for her, studio executives pushed for bigger names, including Johansson. She said,
I auditioned like everyone else. Unfortunately, even though they had written it for me, the studios were like, ‘We don’t know her.’ They wanted Scarlett Johansson and all these other beautiful women and established actresses.
Despite having doubts about her acting ability, Fox won the part after a screen test with Sandler. She added,

For Lena Dunham, there’s no such thing as “too much” reality TV. The beloved filmmaker even wanted to adapt the viral “Vanderpump Rules” for the big screen, especially after the “Scandoval” of it all.
“Vanderpump Rules” Season 10 revealed the explosive affair between co-stars Tom Sandoval and Rachel Leviss; Sandoval’s ex Ariana Madix confronted both cast members during the Season 10 reunion in 2023. The episode was Emmy-nominated.
While the scandal shocked audiences at the time, Dunham was looking to add a high(er)brow twist with the help of her fellow Bravo bingers, Andrew Scott and Jennifer Lawrence.
“We should basically create like a mini movie in which actors treat this as canon and get up and perform it with all the passion and virtuosity of Shakespeare,” Dunham said during the “Shut Up Evan” podcast. “I went so far as to abuse Andy Cohen‘s contact information to pitch him the idea.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence last played the fan-favorite characters Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, respectively, in 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2. Seriously, where does the time go? Anyway, since then, The Hunger Games movie franchise has only expanded, spawning two prequels: The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023), which centers on a young President Snow before he rose to power, and now, Sunrise of the Reaping, which will follow a 16-year-old Haymitch as he prepares to fight in the second Quarter Quell. With a star-studded cast confirmed for Sunrise of the Reaping, which is set to hit theaters in November 2026, rumors of a certain Hunger Games alum returning to make a surprise cameo in the upcoming sequel have been circulating online for quite a while now. But could there be some truth to these rumors?...

Theatrical comedy is perhaps the genre that has struggled the most at the box office as the film industry has sought to recover in the aftermath of the lockdown era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite that, Paramount Pictures decided to give it the ol' college try with a reboot of "The Naked Gun," which hit theaters this past weekend. Mercifully, the movie got off to a decent start, but it's also still got a long way to go before we can declare it an out-and-out success.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer, "The Naked Gun" opened to $17 million domestically, coming in at number three on the charts. Though it dropped rather hard, Marvel's "The Fantastic First: First Steps" stayed at number one with $40 million, with Universal's animated sequel "The Bad Guys 2" landing in the number two spot with $22.2 million. This to say, it was a crowded weekend. Be that as it may,...

The Naked Gun Box Office: Liam Neeson’s Reboot Nets $28.5M(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Liam Neeson has returned to theaters in a big way with The Naked Gun; with it, the comedy genre is breathing again. After years without a major box office win, Neeson is finally front and center in a film that is clicking with both critics and moviegoers.
R-rated comedies have not had much success on the big screen lately, usually landing on streaming with forgettable results. Sony gave it a try earlier with No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence, which managed around $80 million worldwide. Now, Paramount is stepping in with this reboot, helmed by Akiva Schaffer and backed by Seth MacFarlane.
The Naked Gun is fucking phenomenal – I literally spent 85 minutes laughing non-stop. More of this Liam Neeson, please, and Pamela? She absolutely Ate. Comedy of the year, no notes. I need more of this energy Asap!

With The Naked Gun reboot, star Liam Neeson and the comedy genre in general have both been resuscitated. Neeson hasn’t headlined a live-action vehicle to success in years, while R-rated comedies have mostly been relegated to streaming. A few years ago, Sony attempted to revive the genre with the Jennifer Lawrence-led No Hard Feelings, which grossed around $80 million worldwide. Now, it’s Paramount’s turn with The Naked Gun, which is directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schafferand produced by Seth MacFarlane.
With $17 million domestically and another $11 million from overseas markets, the film has grossed a total of $28 million worldwide. MacFarlane and Neeson previously collaborated on A Million Ways to Die in the West, the filmmaker’s blank-check follow-up to the first Ted movie, which made over $500 million worldwide. The Western comedy, on the other hand, flopped with under $90 million globally. It earned poor reviews, and barely broke even,...

An original star from the Hunger Games movies is interested in returning for Sunrise on the Reaping. Released on March 18, 2025, the book serves as a prequel to the original movies, primarily following District 12 tribute Haymitch Abernathy through the Second Quarter Quell. Lionsgate is planning to release a theatrical adaptation on November 20, 2026.
Haymitch, who was played by Woody Harrelson in the original movies, is best known as a bitter and spiteful old man who struggles to connect with the younger tributes early on. After Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) enter the arena, however, he quickly comes to their defense.
This will not be the first Hunger Games follow-up, as it comes on the tail of another prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Now, a few years later, the most in-demand story is finally coming to theaters, showcasing Haymitch's deadly games and how he ultimately won against 47 other tributes.

Lena Dunham is sharing an idea she had for a project that never came to light.
According to the 39-year-old Too Much creator, she wanted to make a “really serious” production of Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval‘s breakup. The split, which played out at a dramatic Vanderpump Rules reunion, was dubbed “Scandoval” by fans.
Lena was a guest on Evan Ross Katz‘s Shut Up Evan podcast where she talked about her ideas for the movie.

Lena Dunham once pitched a “Scandoval” movie to Andy Cohen, with Andrew Scott and Jennifer Lawrence starring as Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval from Vanderpump Rules. On the July 29 episode of the Shut Up Evan Podcast, the Girls star, 39, shared her wild idea with host Evan Ross Katz. Dunham recounted her affinity with reality TV during the SAG-AFTRA writers’ strike during their chat, explaining she was particularly fond of Vanderpump Rules. “I literally became so obsessed that I thought—what can we do while the writers’ strike is down?'” Dunham told Katz. “We should do a reenactment of the reunion in which Ariana confronts Tom and then takes Rachel/Raquel [Leviss] to town with trained actors.” The Too Much creator continued, “We should basically create like a mini movie in which actors treat this as canon and get up and perform with all the passion and virtuosity of Shakespeare.

Despite a largely strong critical and audience reception, Disney/Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is not holding as well in its second weekend at the box office as predicted, even as it stays No. 1 over Universal/DreamWorks’ “The Bad Guys 2” and Paramount’s “The Naked Gun.”
After a $11.7 million second Friday, industry estimates have “Fantastic Four” earning a $40.8 million second weekend, which equates to a 66% drop from its $117.6 million domestic opening. Theatrical sources and rival studios had predicted a second weekend of at least $45 million, which would have keep its drop to 60% or less.
By comparison, Warner Bros./DC Studios’ “Superman” had a $58.4 million second weekend, dropping 53% from its $125 million launch. “Superman” crossed $300 million domestically on Thursday and is headed for a $13.8 million fourth weekend.

Waking up to a fresh daily puzzle lineup every morning has become part of my routine, and if you’re anything like me, the rush of cracking those daily Actorle games is equal parts satisfying and maddening.
For August 2’s Actorle challenges, the maker brought in quite the lineup of brain-ticklers across all four modes: Actorle, Fill The Grid, Storyboard, and StarWords. And in case you find yourself stuck anywhere, the following are all the answers I was able to figure out for the day:

August 2’s Actorle felt like a throwback to the 90s, because that’s when the mystery actor for the day peaked the most. His filmography, which began back in 1986, helped me narrow it down to an action star, and it was not long before I figured it out.

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has never felt murkier, but are we finally gaining some clarity? Post-"Avengers: Endgame," the point at which pretty much everyone agrees the franchise hit its natural climax, Kevin Feige's passion project has spent several years flailing around for a new direction. With the recent release of "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" and its tantalizing credits scene, all of it now seems to be leading up to the double-whammy extravaganza of "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars." In addition to the arrival of Marvel's First Family, fans have been foaming at the mouth to see what the franchise does with its highly-anticipated "X-Men" reboot ... and after a string of financial hits and misses, there now appears to be a plan in place.
Few productions seem more important in the long run to the MCU than its upcoming "X-Men" film, which is being guided by "Thunderbolts*" director Jake Schreier.

When The Hunger Games franchise released its final entry, Mockingjay – Part 2, in 2015, it was difficult to see how the dystopian adventure series could continue after the story wrapped. However, a decade later, The Hunger Games keeps thriving.
With a prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, already out, and another prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, on the way, fans of the franchise had a lot to look forward to. But the feature films aren't the only new additions to the franchise, as The Hunger Games is officially becoming a stage play. In a new announcement on Instagram, The Hunger Games officially cast the new Katniss Everdeen: Mia Carragher for the upcoming play in London.

From two new Marvel movies to James Gunn’s DC reboot of “Superman” to a “Jurassic” reboot to live-action remakes of animated classics galore, there’s plenty of familiar territory, but also noteworthy original films as well – Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt,” the Jennifer Lawrence/Robert Pattinson thriller “Die, My Love” and a new Paul Thomas Anderson movie are all on tap, to name a few.
