Emma Stone didn’t mind shaving her head for Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film Bugonia, but the experience did make her quite emotional.

After debuting a first look at the project at CinemaCon earlier this year, a clip from the teaser showcased the two-time Oscar winner with the haircut. In her Monday cover story with Vogue, the actress opened up about the mixed experience of shaving her head for the role.

“No better feeling in the world,” she said when describing what it felt like to chop off her hair. “The first shower when you’ve shaved your head? Oh my God, it’s amazing.”

However, Stone revealed that before they executed the cut mid-shot for Bugonia, she “burst into tears in her trailer” when remembering her mother, Krista Stone, who previously shaved her head during breast cancer treatment.

“She actually did something brave,” Stone recalled thinking to herself at the time.

Liam Neeson has returned to theaters in a big way with The Naked Gun; with it, the comedy genre is breathing again. After years without a major box office win, Neeson is finally front and center in a film that is clicking with both critics and moviegoers.

R-rated comedies have not had much success on the big screen lately, usually landing on streaming with forgettable results. Sony gave it a try earlier with No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence, which managed around $80 million worldwide. Now, Paramount is stepping in with this reboot, helmed by Akiva Schaffer and backed by Seth MacFarlane.

Sunrise on the Reaping is set during the 50th annual Hunger Games, focused on a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy competing in the games. Despite being set long before Josh and Jennifer Lawrence‘s characters’ times, the characters do appear briefly in the novel’s epilogue.

Although Josh said he hasn’t heard anything about the rumors that he might be returning to The Hunger Games universe, he did say that he would be on board with joining the movie. He told the publication, “Yeah, no, that’d be cool.”

An original star from the Hunger Games movies is interested in returning for Sunrise on the Reaping. Released on March 18, 2025, the book serves as a prequel to the original movies, primarily following District 12 tribute Haymitch Abernathy through the Second Quarter Quell. Lionsgate is planning to release a theatrical adaptation on November 20, 2026.

Haymitch, who was played by Woody Harrelson in the original movies, is best known as a bitter and spiteful old man who struggles to connect with the younger tributes early on. After Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) enter the arena, however, he quickly comes to their defense.

This will not be the first Hunger Games follow-up, as it comes on the tail of another prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Now, a few years later, the most in-demand story is finally coming to theaters, showcasing Haymitch's deadly games and how he ultimately won against 47 other tributes.

Lena Dunham is sharing an idea she had for a project that never came to light.

According to the 39-year-old Too Much creator, she wanted to make a “really serious” production of Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval‘s breakup. The split, which played out at a dramatic Vanderpump Rules reunion, was dubbed “Scandoval” by fans.

Despite a largely strong critical and audience reception, Disney/Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is not holding as well in its second weekend at the box office as predicted, even as it stays No. 1 over Universal/DreamWorks’ “The Bad Guys 2” and Paramount’s “The Naked Gun.”

After a $11.7 million second Friday, industry estimates have “Fantastic Four” earning a $40.8 million second weekend, which equates to a 66% drop from its $117.6 million domestic opening. Theatrical sources and rival studios had predicted a second weekend of at least $45 million, which would have keep its drop to 60% or less.

By comparison, Warner Bros./DC Studios’ “Superman” had a $58.4 million second weekend, dropping 53% from its $125 million launch. “Superman” crossed $300 million domestically on Thursday and is headed for a $13.8 million fourth weekend.

Adaptation is a comedy-drama film directed by Spike Jonze from a screenplay by Charlie Kaufman. Based on the 1998 non-fiction book titled The Orchid Thief by author Susan Orlean, the 2002 film follows writer Charlie Kaufman as he is tasked with adapting a book by Susan Orlean into a screenplay, but his crippling self-doubt and freeloading brother make the task extremely difficult.

While the strike-impacted 2024 release slate resulted in fewer movies overall, 2025 promises to be something of a return to normal with a bevy of highly anticipated films coming to both theaters and streaming.
