Downton Abbey 3 Trailer Previews the Grand Finale of the Crawley Family's Story
Image
The time has come to say goodbye. The official trailer for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, the third and final entry in the big-screen continuation of the beloved PBS series, has arrived.

After 15 years, the story of the Crawleys and their staff will come to an end this September with Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. All the familiar faces are back in the official trailer for the historical drama threequel, which looks set to feature plenty of heartfelt (and heart-wrenching) moments. This development shouldn't come as too much of a shock to Downton fans, given that Henry's portrayer, Matthew Goode, has noticeably been absent from the franchise since the 2019 film, with the...

The castle had been the home to the Granthams since the show’s launch in 2011. It would run for six seasons,...

'Twisters' Is Whirling Up the Prime Video Streaming Chart
Image
Tornadoes can be terrifying, but that doesn't stop people from watching a movie about them. In real life, there are courageous storm chasers who start their potentially dangerous journey with one mission: to look a storm in its eye, or rather, get up close and personal to study it or admire its scary beauty. While when this happens in real life, fear takes over those at home getting alerts and warnings from meteorologists to take cover, movies like Twistersare entertainingly whirling up the charts. According to Flix Patrol, the 2024 film is among the top movies to watch on Prime Video.

It hasn't left the top ten on the chart and is currently staying in the top three. Twisters is a sequel to Twister (1996), which starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The Glen Powell-led production follows a clashing group of storm chasers who investigate a tornado outbreak in Oklahoma.

Paul Giamatti has spoken about returning to the Downton Abbey franchise for the upcoming third film, describing the production as shaped by the absence of Dame Maggie Smith, who died in September 2024.

In an interview with People, Giamatti said the cast continued working with her memory in mind. “It was not the same without her, but it felt very much like in her honor in some way,” he said. “She certainly still feels present through the whole thing. Not having her there is obviously a huge loss, but everybody was still acting in her spirit.”

Giamatti plays Harold Levinson, the brother of Cora Crawley, a role he first portrayed during the show’s 2013 Christmas special. Although his initial appearance was limited to one episode, Giamatti said he was surprised to be invited back. “The interesting thing for me was that they even asked me at all because I was like,...

‘Downton Abbey 3’ Gets a Fittingly Emotional Title
Image
“Downton Abbey 3” will mark a significant conclusion for the beloved franchise, as the title of the film — as revealed on Thursday — suggests this really is the end of the road for “Downton Abbey.” Unveiling a teaser poster, Focus Features also revealed the film’s title: “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.”

“It’s time to say goodbye,” the tagline reads on the poster, which sees Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) in the familiar halls of Downton. The film hits theaters later this year.

Julian Fellowes, the creator of the TV series and writer of the first two films, returns to pen the screenplay for “The Grand Finale,” which is directed by Simon Curtis who spearheaded 2022’s “Downton Abbey: A New Era.”

Plot details are under wraps but the new film follows in the footsteps of 2022’s “A New Era” and 2019’s “Downton Abbey” movie, both continuations of the acclaimed TV series that ran for six seasons.

After shocking everyone with one of the year's best action films, Twisters, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, is officially heading to streaming. ‘September Says’ By Ariane Labed Takes Top Prize At The Dinard British And Irish Film Festival
Image
The Dinard film festival (2-6 October), traditionally a celebration of all things British, brought its 35th iteration to the seaside city’s screens with a soft relaunch this year, after retitling itself to include Irish films and co-productions. The result was suitably eclectic, with just six films competing for the Hitchcock d’Or, which was voted on by an eight-strong jury of actors and directors. Including The Quiet Girl director Colm Bairéad and House of the Dragon star Phoebe Campbell, the judging panel was headed up by French actress-director-model-singer Arielle Dombasle, a favorite of Claude Lelouch, Éric Rohmer and Alain Robbe-Grillet but more recently seen this summer singing her song “Olympics” to herald the arrival of the Olympic torch in Paris, ahead of the recent games.

Opening with Alice Lowe’s horror-comedy Timestalker and ending with Matt Brown’s psychological drama Freud’s Last Session, the festival — curated by Dominique Green...

I Was Not Expecting David Corenswet's Twisters Role To Be The Modern Version Of This Og Character
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Twisters.

Scott from Twisters replaces villain Jonas from Twister, both storm chasers who are in it for money and personal gain. Scott's fate differs from Jonas because Scott lives in Twisters while Jonas dies in Twister. David Corenswet transitions from villain Scott in Twisters to hero Superman in James Gunn's Superman.

While Twisters isn't a direct sequel to Twister, the 2024 movie contains characters that seemingly serve as replacements for the original characters, including David Corenswet's role as Scott. The disaster film, directed by Lee Isaac Chung and written by Mark L. Smith (based on a story by Joseph Kosinski), comes 28 years after the release of Jan de Bont's Twister. The highly anticipated Twisters is a standalone sequel as it doesn't explicitly continue the first movie's story and includes a whole new cast of storm chasers attempting to tame tornadoes and limit their damage.

Twisters Director Nearly Cut 1 Scene That Caused The Team To "Riot"
Image
Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung almost cut down the scene of Glen Powell in the rain. Glen Powell's heartthrob moment in Twisters solidifies his A-list star potential. Twisters' box office success cements Powell's lead actor status for the Hollywood blockbuster.

Lee Isaac Chung explains why one Twisters scene causes disagreement among the editing team. Chung is the director of Twisters, the standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister, which was released this past weekend on July 19. The plot focuses on the journey of a woman named Kate who returns to her home state of Oklahoma in order to reenter her former life as a storm chaser to help save lives in Tornado Alley. The film features a leading cast including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Harry Hadden-Paton, and Sasha Lane.

Twisters Review
Image
Plot: A former storm chaser (Daisy Edgar-Jones) recovering from a tragedy is convinced by a former colleague to help him chase a series of massive twisters rocking central Oklahoma.

Review: Jump back to the summer of 1996. I was fourteen years old and going to see Twister at the old Famous Eight here in good old Montreal, an old suburban movie theatre that was showing a movie in Thx for the first time ever. I’ll never forget sitting down with a friend to watch Jan de Bont’s classic and being rocked to the core by the amazing VFX and sound – and it remains a favourite of mine. It had a rock solid cast of characters, all of whom were memorable, plus two perfect regular Joe heroes in Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, with the movie, believe it or not, actually a disaster movie quasi remake of the classic screwball comedy His Girl Friday,...

Box Office: Glen Powell’s ‘Twisters’ Makes $10.7 Million in Previews
Image
“Twisters” is getting ready to shake up the summer box office.

The disaster movie, a sequel to the 1996 classic “Twister,” has made $10.7 million in Thursday previews at the box office. The Universal film, starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos as storm chasers, is expected to open between $50 million and $55 million this weekend.

“Twisters” comes with a $155 million price tag, so it’ll need to storm the global box office to turn a profit. Warner Bros. is distributing the film internationally, where it’s made $X million so far. It will open in larger markets like France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom this weekend.

Released 28 years after the original film, “Twisters” stars Powell as Tyler Owens, a popular storm chaser on the internet, and Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper, a meteorologist and ex-tornado chaser who is haunted by a major storm from her past. With her colleague Javi (Ramos...

‘Twisters’ Star Brandon Perea on the Daunting Task of Following Philip Seymour Hoffman and Why ‘The Oa’ Isn’t Over to Him Yet
Image
Two years ago, Brandon Perea delivered a breakout big-screen performance in Jordan Peele’s Nope, and now he’s back in Universal’s latest July event film, Twisters. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Perea plays Boone, who’s nearly unrecognizable from his Nope character, Angel Torres. He is the right hand to Glen Powell’s Tyler Owens, as their team of “tornado wranglers” are the ragtag group of storm chasers that are most similar to Bill (Bill Paxton) and Jo Harding’s (Helen Hunt) motley crew in Jan de Bont’s now-franchise starter, Twister (1996).

Perea’s character is also the closest analogue to Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Dusty from the original film, and while the latter may have had more of a scientific background than Boone’s role as videographer, they’re both devoted friends, tie-dye enthusiasts and the life of the party. Needless to say, the pressure of having...
