Fans finally got to see Wolverine wear his comic-accurate yellow X-Men costume in 2024's Deadpool and Wolverine, over 20 years after Hugh Jackman first portrayed the character. X-Men helped define how pre-mcu movies attempted to adapt their comicbook inspirations, with 'realistic' black leather tactical wear rather than colorful costumes. However, back in 1999, a group of Marvel's best artists took a shot at guessing how the movie would redesign Wolverine, and their answers were way more creative.

In a recent post on X, Wizards! The Podcast Guide to Comics shared a page from Wizard's 1999 'Wolverine Special,' where major names including Dave Cockrum, Leinil Francis Yu and John Cassaday offered up their own big-screen redesigns of the X-Men's immortal brawler.

Guardian of the Universe seems to be a follow up, of sorts to the 2003 film Evil Cult – both of which are directed by Rob Taylor, who also stars as hero Neil Stryker – but I must admit the 2003 offering somehow passed me by back in my heady days as a student in Bristol. Shocked that there is a hero called “Neil”? Well get used to it, this film doesn’t play by your rules. Neil is a dad but his parenting seems to boil down to him making jokes to his son (who’s mum is dead) that he killed her, banter. Damn it Neil. You wildcard.

Neil Stryker and the Tyrant of Time is a brilliant title. It also seems to be the least popular title for the film given its being released in the UK (in August) as Guardian of the Universe; a very generic title that has little, or nothing to do with the plot of the film, possibly designed to be confused for more popular, competently made films.

Fox has just released yet another exciting chapter of Gotham Stories, which bears a rather straightforward title in “Mr. Freeze Targets Penguin.” As you have no doubt gathered, it delivers what it promises.

Featuring the voice talents of Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle/Cat), Nathan Darrow (Victor Fries), Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon) and Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), this episode is the second of five motion comics that intends to bridge the gap between the first half of Season Two, “Rise of the Villains,” and the second half, “Wrath of the Villains.”

In this particular episode, which picks up right where last week’s left off, Mr. Freeze (whom you can get a new look at here) wastes absolutely no time making his frosty, lethal presence known. And while we may not know what caused his vendetta against Penguin, Freeze gives the impression that someone may have hired him.

Idw Publishing has announced that they will soon be launching a new Judge Dredd series titled Anderson: Psi Division, a new solo title that will focus on the character of Judge Cassandra Anderson before the events of the current ongoing series. Arriving in August, the series will be written by 2000 Ad editor Matt Smith and feature the art of 2000 Ad’s Carl Critchlow.

Idw has been releasing an impressive line of work since first announcing its acquisition of the Judge Dredd license in 2012, publishing some fantastic new Dredd stories for fans. Despite already having a solo series of her own at 2000 Ad, the announcement of Anderson: Psi Division marks the first time the character will get her own series in America. Audiences of Karl Urban’s 2012 Dredd film will probably be more familiar with Cassandra Anderson’s live-screen appearance by actress Olivia Thirlby.

Comic-Con International has unleashed the full schedule for Friday July 22nd, once again we have a full day of fun and excitement.
