Quick Links Sylvester Stallone's Rip-Roaring Action Thriller 'Alarum' Sylvester Stallone Continues Doing What He Does Best
For over 50 phenomenal years, Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone has been one of the cinema's most prominent movie stars, with the veteran actor having appeared in countless knockouts, including the enduring Rocky franchise, First Blood, Cliffhanger, The Suicide Squad, and The Expendables series (to name just a few in his ever-growing repertoire). At 78 years old, Stallone remains a force to be reckoned with on both the big and small screen and currently stars in the Taylor Sheridan-created crime drama Tulsa King while also appearing alongside Scott Eastwood in the newly released action thriller Alarum.
In the pulse-pounding flick, Stallone portrays a seasoned spy who is sent to hunt down a top-secret hard drive believed to be in the possession of rogue agents who ran off to be together in order to start a new life.

Alarum takes a promising cast and creates an unappealing spy movie that struggles to make sense of itself from one moment to the next. The action thriller genre doesn't require much to deliver a satisfying project. However, to make one that stands out, the movie must have some compelling action and a unique story. Alarum has neither.
Alarum, directed by Michael Polish, follows two rogue spies who have gone off-grid and married, triggering a global pursuit by international spy organizations. Set in a winter honeymoon cabin, they become targets as they are suspected of possessing a vital hard drive linked to the network known as Alarum.

With roles like Rocky Balboa and Rambo, Sylvester Stallone has received many accolades. Stallone is one of the most profitable action stars with many other critically acclaimed films, but his recent project was not as successful.
His new movie is Alarum, an action film directed by Michael Polish with a script by Alexander Vesha. Alarum follows two rogue spies who escaped to get married, but several intelligence agencies hunt them to find a stolen hard drive. The action film was released straight to VOD and has debuted with a rare rating on Rotten Tomatoes: an abysmal 0% out of 14 reviews. The audience score is not yet available, as there are less than 50 reviews at the time of publishing.

Alarum has earned a dismal Rotten Tomatoes score. The new action movie was directed by Michael Polish from a screenplay by Alexander Vesha. It follows a married couple who have escaped their lives as spies and who are being hunted in their isolated cabin by multiple agencies seeking a hard drive they stole, featuring a cast that includes Scott Eastwood, Willa Fitzgerald, Mike Colter, Ísis Valverde, D. W. Moffett, and Sylvester Stallone. The Alarum release is day-and-date, meaning that it is available in both limited theaters and on video on demand.
Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated an official score for Alarum from 14 different critics' reviews. At the time of writing, the movie has earned a score of 0%, which is the lowest score available on the platform. The Eastwood family continues to keep busy in Hollywood these days, with Clint Eastwood's latest film Juror #2 recently becoming a streaming hit on Max. His daughter Francesca happens to play a pivotal role in the acclaimed courtroom drama. Clint's son, Scott Eastwood, has a new espionage thriller in theaters, Alarum, which also stars Sylvester Stallone and Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling). MovieWeb recently caught up with Scott while he promoted Alarum, not too long after we had connected with him at the 1992 junket — where he had taken time to weigh in on his dad's filmmaking future. On that note, would the famed actor that is Scott ever consider stepping behind the lens to helm his own feature film?
"It's a lot of work, but I think I've been doing it long enough to know... what happens is, you start working with good directors, and you... kind of go back and forth.

2016's Suicide Squad might have been a black mark against the divisive Dceu, but the film has recently found a devout fan base, especially following the release of Zack Snyder's original version of Justice League. The film starred Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, and Karen Fukuhara as the core members of the team, with Jared Leto portraying the controversial version of The Joker, and Viola Davis as the far more terrifying villain Amanda Waller. You'd be forgiven for forgetting Scott Eastwood also starred in Suicide Squad as Lieutenant GQ Edwards, a US Army soldier tasked with overseeing the team with Kinnaman's Rick Flag. While Eastwood was given little to do in the movie, he wants to make a DC comeback in the biggest way possible.

Earlier this month, we learned that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be giving David Fincher’s 2002 home invasion thriller Panic Room a 4K Uhd release in February – and now, Variety has revealed that the movie is also getting a remake next year! The Panic Room remake is a telefilm that’s coming our way from the Sony Pictures Television-owned Brazilian production company Floresta and sees Isis Valverde (Alarum) taking on the lead role, a character played by Jodie Foster in the original film.

While Sylvester Stallone is enjoying success on his show Tulsa King, he doesn’t stray too far from movies, but it’s looking more and more like his side hustle nowadays. Stallone was recently featured in Armor, which was a low-budget action thriller that primarily focused on a single location on a bridge. In his review, our Alex Maidy said Armor “is nowhere near mediocre due to formulaic action that cannot even muster enough energy to keep attention on screen.” Plus, there’s talk that Sly received a supposed $3.5 million for a single day’s work. Enter the trailer for Alarum, which flaunts Stallone in the marketing but looks as if he’s carved out the same deal for this film.
Grindstone Entertainment, which resides under Lionsgate, has released the trailer, which stars Scott Eastwood (The Fate of the Furious, Suicide Squad), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky franchise, Creed), Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling,...

"How do you know she's not playing you?" Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for an action thriller called Alarum, made by director Michael Polish. It's being dumped in January on VOD and in theaters - which means this is one to avoid. After the CIA discovers the whereabouts of two rogue spies, who have not only gone off-grid but have become husband and wife, all hell is unleashed on their winter honeymoon cabin resort in the woods by a consortium of international spy organizations who are after a "flight pill", aka a hard drive, and all of whom suspect the two may have joined a network of rogue spies known as the Alarum. The action thriller features Scott Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone, Willa Fitzgerald, Mike Colter, Isis Valverde, & Joel Cohen. What even is this? So many of these dime-a-dozen junk action films nowadays, I still wonder who even watches them.

Sylvester Stallone is one of the biggest action stars of all time. The actor reached stardom thanks to the Rocky and Rambo franchises, but he has played a series of other roles – mostly those of action heroes – and has had several successful projects aside from these two franchises, including the ongoing series Tulsa King.
While Sly’s cinematic career is not on the same level as it was decades ago, the actor is still shooting movies and we are happy to report that Collider has just revealed the first exclusive trailer for his new movie, which is going to be released in January 2025.
The movie in question is titled Alarum, and in it, Sly will be joined by several other prominent action stars. And while we’re not expecting an Oscar-worthy film based on the trailer, fans of action movies will be more than pleased, and we’re excited to...

From director René Sampaio comes an action/drama titled Brazilian Western (Faroeste Caboclo) which will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, (making its Canadian premiere), in the Contemporary World Cinema section - a group that was announced this morning. Here's how Tiff describes it: Loosely based on legendary Brasilia rock band Legiao Urbana’s seminal folk song, René Sampaio’s lyrical, fable-like debut feature follows a young man from the provinces who decides to try his luck in the capital, where he falls in with a rough crowd — and falls for a senator’s daughter.
