Farhan Akhtar, 'Idol Season 13' finalists Fantastic 4 to perform live in Dubai

The multi-hyphenate artiste Farhan Akhtar, who is known for films such as ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Lakshya’, ‘Rock On!!’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, is set to perform in Dubai with his band Farhan Live.

The performance is scheduled for September 1.

Farhan will be seen treating the fans to his most popular numbers, seamlessly blending rock, Bollywood hits, and soul-stirring melodies into an unforgettable musical experience.

Yeosu (South Korea), July 23 (Ians) India’s men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy expressed happiness on winning their third Bwf Super 500 title of their career and especially at the way they played throughout the week in the Korea Open badminton championship.

Asian Champions Satwik and Chirag came from behind to beat World No. 1 Indonesian duo Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto 17-21, 21-13, 21-14 in a thrilling three-game final on Sunday.

Satwik and Chirag, the world No. 3 pair, made a slow start to the match and fell 19-10 behind. They picked up their game as the match progressed and continued chipping away at the Indonesian pair’s lead but it was a bit too late to salvage the opening game.

In the second game, the Indians made a much better start and took an 11-8 lead going into the interval. They upped the ante after the restart and forced a decider.

Yeosu (South Korea), July 22 (Ians) The Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty marched into the final of the Korea Open 2023 badminton tournament after defeating China’s Liang Wie Keng/Wang Chang 21-15, 24-22 in the semifinals at the Jinnam Stadium, here on Saturday.

This was Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty’s first-ever win over the Chinese world No. 2 duo in three meetings. Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang got the better of the Indians at the All England Open and Malaysia Open, earlier this year.

Commonwealth Games gold medalist duo of Satwik and Chirag have already won the Swiss and Indonesia Open titles on the 2023 Bwf World Tour.

In the Korea Open final, they will face the winners of the other semi-final clash between Indonesian top seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto and the Republic of Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae on Sunday.

Yeosu (South Korea), July 21 (Ians) India’s men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stormed into the semi-finals of the Korea Open 2023 badminton tournament after beating Japan’s Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi at the Jinnam Stadium, here on Friday.

Satwik and Chirag, third seeds and world No. 3 in the badminton rankings, beat former world champions Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi 21-14, 21-17 in the quarter-finals, which lasted for 40 minutes.

It was the Indian duo’s fourth win over the former world No. 1 Japanese pair in five meetings.

In the quarter-finals, the Indian pair quickly took control of the first game with two separate runs of five consecutive points. From 5-5, the scores went to 15-6 in favour of Chirag-Satwik.

The Japanese duo bagged the next four points but the deficit proved too much to overcome as the Indians won the first game 21-14.

Yeosu (S Korea), July 19 (Ians) Ace Indian shuttlers Pv Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth made an early exit from Korea Open, a Super 500 badminton tournament, after suffering losses in their respective opening-round matches, here on Wednesday.

Two-time Olympic medallist Pv Sindhu lost 18-21, 21-10, 13-21 to Pai Yu Po of Chinese in the women’s singles in her first official match under new coach Muhammad Hafiz Hashim. The Malaysian coach’s appointment was formally announced on Tuesday.

This was Sindhu’s sixth opening-round ouster in 12 Bwf World Tour tournament appearances this season.

In other women’s singles matches, Malvika Bansod lost 17-21, 7-21 to world no 4 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. Ashmita Chaliha, meanwhile, succumbed 13-21, 12-21 to the reigning Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei of China.

Tokyo, Aug 24 (Ians) Ace Indian shuttler Hs Prannoy registered an upset victory over Japanese world No 2 Kento Momota to set up pre-quarterfinals clash against compatriot Lakshya Sen at Bwf World Championships 2022 but Kidambi Srikanth was knocked out in the second round, here on Wednesday.

Prannoy, who hadn’t beaten the Japanese ace in their previous seven meetings, won the clash 21-17, 21-16 in Momota’s backyard.
