Director Jeremy Haccoun felt nostalgic for the early Spielberg era and films with character driven stories, childlike excitement and edge-of-your-seat actions scenes. He missed those types of movies so much that he decided to make his own, “Beyond.”

The 10-minute short film, written and directed by Haccoun, follows a family on a desert road trip. When a rock fall traps his parents inside their car, the 7 year-old boy must find a way to save them before it’s too late.

The film stars Aidan Flynn, Jolene Kay and Michael Dane and features a “golden age score à la John Williams,” as described by Haccoun. “Beyond” was produced by Violetta Ekpe, cinematography by Sergio Arguello and music is by Siddhartha Barnhoorn.

Back in 2012, when the film was in pre-production and raising funds, it was featured in IndieWire’s Project of the Day.

I've got a fantastically made adventure short film here for you to watch called Beyond. It was written and directed by Jeremy Haccoun and it was inspired by the films from the 1980s that involved the adventures of kids. The story centers on a young boy who has to rescue his parents from a burning car that has been crushed by rocks. Here's the synopsis:

This is a great little film that I enjoyed watching. I hope you like it!

"I can do this!" Another outstanding short film that is worth your time. This one is titled Beyond, and it's from writer/director Jeremy Haccoun (see @JeremyHaccoun). This is also exciting to watch because we originally featured this back in 2012 when it was looking for funding on Kickstarter, now four years later you can see the completed short film and it's impressive. Haccoun wanted to make an adventure film that hearkens back to the Spielberg movies of the 80s, like Indiana Jones and The Goonies, and he certainly achieved that. Even the score is pretty much a John Williams throwback. This is also the kind of fun film where a kid does something crazy, but pulls it off, which is cool because this should inspire kids to be brave.
