It’s hard to believe Community ended over 10 years ago!
The comedy series – starring Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Chevy Chase, and Jim Rash – ran on NBC for five seasons between 2009 and 2014 before the sixth and final season aired on Yahoo! Screen in 2015.
The show followed disbarred lawyer Jeff Winger (McHale), who enrolled in a local community college and formed a study group with fellow students, who eventually learn more about themselves than their course work.
Just recently, Donald shared a major update on the Community movie!
With the show back in the headlines, we’ve gathered all of the main cast members of Community, and ranked them from lowest to highest estimated net worth.
If you didn’t know, Community is available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu!

Seth Rogen is the odds-on favorite to win so many Emmys for The Studio, he'll need to bring a mantelpiece as his plus-one.
According to Gold Derby's predictions for the 2025 Emmys, Rogen is out front to win Best Comedy Series (for which he's a producer), Best Comedy Actor, and Best Comedy Directing (for "The Oner"). Plus, he's the runner-up in Best Comedy Writing (for "The Promotion"), behind only the Hacks showrunning trio of Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky (for "A Slippery Slope").
Should Rogen win all four, he'd be the only person in Emmy history to win those specific trophies in the same year. In 2020, Daniel Levy won three of the four for Schitt's Creek, but his acting award was for supporting, not lead. Here's what Rogen tells Gold Derby about potentially making history:

As we may have mentioned once or twice in the past, working on Community wasn’t always the easiest job, thanks in large part to Caddyshack star/toilet fortune heir Chevy Chase.
The former Saturday Night Live cast member famously antagonized his co-stars, lobbing racist insults at Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover — sometimes involving the N-word — and straight-up physically fighting Joel McHale. Meaning that the only way Chase’s going to be in the Community movie is if a fan edits him in using clips from old National Lampoon movies.
Also contentious was the relationship between Chase and creator Dan Harmon, who isn't exactly known for being the chillest personality to deal with either. Famously, Harmon “publicly reprimanded Chase in front of his family and colleagues” during a wrap party, allowing frustrated crew members to collectively, cathartically shout, “Fuck you, Chevy!”
This prompted Chase to leave Harmon an expletive-filled voicemail,...

Plans to bring the Community gang back together for a reunion movie have been on the table for years, but the project has yet to officially set a production start date. Star Alison Brie has commented on the current status of the film, but it's a disappointing update for fans.
Brie addressed the film while at San Diego Comic-Con to promote her new movie, Together, via ScreenRant. When asked about an update on Community: The Movie, Brie said there was nothing whatsoever new to report. She then shared that the project is "sort of paused," still with no concrete plans to actually start filming.
"I truly have nothing to say about the Community movie," Brie stated. "It's sort of paused, and we're all -- I know the cast is really rooting for it. We all love each other so much and would love to get back on set someday."

After six seasons and movie, two Community characters might finally seal the deal if Alison Brie has her way.
The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently revealed her hopes for her character Annie Edison in the long-awaited feature adaptation of the NBC/Yahoo series, while sharing an update on the production schedule.
“There’s no update,” she told husband and Together co-star Dave Franco in a sit-down for Entertainment Tonight. “I would say it’s paused due to a number of factors. The entire cast is still enthusiastically on board to do the movie.”
Brie added, “Something I would love to see for Annie is full sex with Jeff Winger. You know, I think an X-rated Community movie would consummate that ‘will they, won’t they.'”

For fans of the NBC sitcomCommunity still holding out hope for a "six seasons and a movie," we hate to be the bearers of bad news, but it looks like the wait won't be over soon. Fans were buzzing with excitement when it was officially announced in 2022 that the movie was in the works. However, the years that followed brought little to no updates on the progress of things. Last year, however, it began to look like Greendale was finally on the verge of reopening its doors after it was revealed that a script was finished and a budget wasfirmly in place. But now? Womp womp. Star Alison Brie just confirmed another delay, and honestly, at this point, the fandom deserves group therapy, commemorative buttons, and maybe a Troy and Abed morning show to get through the heartbreak.

It’s been over a decade since Community first graced our screens, and honestly, we’re still not over it. Dan Harmon‘s meta-textual masterpiece about a ragtag study group at Greendale Community College didn’t just break the fourth wall; it completely demolished it, creating something that was equal parts sitcom, cultural commentary, and love letter to everything we geek out about.
While streaming platforms keep introducing new fans to Jeff Winger’s crew, those of us who lived through the original run can’t help but get nostalgic for what made this show absolutely magical.
1. The Paintball Episodes That Changed Everything Ken Jeong in Community (2009) | Credits: NBC
Let’s be real, nothing could have prepared us for “Modern Warfare.” One minute we’re watching a typical community college sitcom, and the next we’re in the middle of a full-blown action movie parody that somehow managed to have genuine emotional stakes.

Actor Alison Brie, who rose to fame playing Annie Edison on the groundbreaking sitcom Community, provided a long-awaited but disappointing update about Community: The Movie. Die-hard fans of the series have waited years for the members of Greendale Community College's wacky study group to reassemble for a sequel film and to deliver on the promise based on the show's iconic catchphrase, "six seasons and a movie."
In ScreenRant's exclusive interview with Brie about her and husband Dave Franco's new horror film, Together, the actor gave a concerning update about the production for the upcoming Community movie. While the details are vague, she reveals that the movie has faced another delay, but that the cast is still committed to finishing it one day. Check out her comments below:

Joel McHale chalks up the hilarity of Community to the relentlessness of creator Dan Harmon and directors Joe and Anthony Russo. “I’m so fortunate that that was the spearhead that was fighting for this comedy,” McHale recently told Collider. “I look at comedy now, or when I do it now, I remember Joe and Anthony would always go, ‘Cut. Do it faster. Cut. Do it faster. Cut. Do it faster.’”
“There were so many good jokes,” McHale said. “There were so many jokes flying that it was great, because it taught me to throw away jokes. ‘Don’t be too married to a joke or two.’ But it taught me to say them and say them fast.”
The dark side of the “million takes” that Community’s creators demanded? It made for awfully long work days, and not everyone was thrilled about the extra time commitment. “The hours were bananas,...

The cult classic comedy show Communitygave a lot to fans. We had Troy and Abed in the Morning, that Glee-inspired episode, and Donald Glover crying over LeVar Burton. And that's just to name a few of the show's iconic moments. One less cheery aspect of the series, however, was Chevy Chase being a little too much like the curmudgeonly character he was playing and causing trouble behind the scenes. Chase, who had a reputation for being difficult on set, left the show in Season 4. In a lengthy profile interview with Collider's Tania Hussain, star Joel McHalespoke about the series and talked about his past love of Chase and how it related to the concept of "never meeting your heroes."
McHale has spoken openly in the past about Chase and told Hussain that part of the issue was the hours. Filming Community brought with it a lot of hours...

Kevin Feige provides a disappointing update on fan-favorite Spider-Man character Miles Morales' chances of joining the MCU and talks about all those previously teased characters eventually returning. Marvel Studios is building towards Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, a two-part finale that will bring in a wide array of characters, including various members of The Avengers, Thunderbolts, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. Yet, there are plenty of other characters that Marvel Studios has teased in post-credit scenes, including Clea (Charlize Theron) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Starfox (Harry Styles) in Eternals, and Hercules (Brett Goldstein) in Thor: Love & Thunder, which seemingly have no confirmed return date.
Speaking with the press about the future of the MCU, Feige outlined some future plans for the MCU, as well as what characters can or will return. One name fans shouldn't hold out much hope for is Miles Morales / Spider-Man,...

Hollywood adores a remake, whether it's a couple of decades old or merely about to scratch that magical 10-year mark, there's always the possibility of revisiting a property in the hopes of some new eyeballs. It rarely works out that way, or at least, as well as the people in charge would hope, but that doesn't stop every channel, studio, or streaming outfit from trying their luck. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" is a film that's had two different reboot or remake attempts since hitting screens back in 2005, and one of those efforts didn't even make it to air. Jordana Brewster and Martin Henderson tried their best to elevate "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" nearly 20 years ago, but maybe the darker action comedy was still a bit ahead of its time for television. Now, that effort lives on a genuine curiosity that functions more as a Wikipedia-style footnote than anything immediately memorable.

A Look At The 9 Billion-Dollar Movies Of 2019! (Photo Credit – Hotstar)
Hollywood has seen countless box office highs, but no year in cinema history matched the sheer dominance of 2019. That year didn’t just break records. It rewrote them. With the streaming revolution still in its early stages and global theatrical markets firing on all cylinders, 2019 marked the final crescendo of the pre-pandemic moviegoing era.
It wasn’t just about quantity or sequels. The variety of billion-dollar earners that year, including superhero finales, animated adventures, live-action remakes, and action spectacles, spoke to a moment when studios knew how to maximize nostalgia and event filmmaking. Audiences flocked to theaters worldwide, and in return, the box office delivered an unprecedented nine movies that crossed the $1 billion mark globally. No other year, not 2015, not 2022, has matched that figure.
One could also say that Hollywood had finally found the formula for minting billions at the box office.

I’ve got a bit of an ask here today, but bear with me and I promise it’ll be worth your while. I’m something of a TV connoisseur, which is a nice way of saying I watch a lot of television. I grew up in the age of cable, and television is always going to be critically linked to who I am as a person. As a horror fan, I’m naturally drawn toward horror shows and TV movies. However, I’m just as inclined, and even more thrilled, whenever something decidedly not horror suddenly gets very, very scary. Remember the slasher episode of The Facts of Life? I do, and I think about it daily.

Tyriq Withers’ face is burning red-hot. “Did you watch that?” he asks, at the mention of a little-seen 2020 short film titled :): that’s still lingering on YouTube. It was the actor’s very first on-screen role: a six-minute exploration of a struggling uni student shot entirely in centred close-ups of his face. If Withers is a little embarrassed, he’s grateful all the same. “It just taught me so much [about] accessing my own personal life to bring to the screen,” he explains.
In the five years since that short, 26-year-old Withers has been excavating the deepest parts of himself through projects of escalating size, from a breakout spot on Donald Glover’s series Atlanta — in which his character undergoes a ‘Black Eligibility’ test — to his upcoming major roles in the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot and the Jordan Peele-produced sports horror Him. “That whole...

Hulu is all set to stream the classic sitcom Community. With an IMDb rating of 8.5 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 88%, the show deserved a better fate, and you can’t fight me on this. My name is Scott Brown, founder and CEO of Second Rodeo, and I have been telling stories on YouTube since it was a dating site. For the past 15 years, I have built my career, serving as a producer, writer and director for some of the biggest names in the industry. I’ve crashed a train with MrBeast, launched The Rock’s YouTube channel, and directed an Emmy-nominated series with Larry King. But through all the stunts, shows, and subscribers, I’ve been waiting for one thing to finally break through online: scripted storytelling.
That moment has arrived.
But let’s take a look at how we got here.

Half of you may not remember Web TV but I certainly do–the halcyon days of 2008. Simpler times. I had just graduated from USC with a degree in screenwriting. Just in time for the writer’s strike that year.

Star Wars fans, buckle up: Lucasfilm is reportedly developing a fourth Star Wars spin-off movie, and it could potentially be fairly divisive within the fandom. The latest reports suggest that at least one upcoming Lucasfilm feature film will directly connect to the sequel trilogy timeline.
Per The Direct, scooper Daniel Richtman says Lucasfilm “is discussing a spinoff film to the sequel trilogy”, but further details—like which characters or when production might be officially greenlit—are still under wraps.
Nonetheless, this indicates that fans could be in for a story involving familiar faces from the Skywalker saga episodes VII through IX, or perhaps focusing on underutilized characters like Jannah, long rumored to be Lando Calrissian’s lost daughter.
This spin-off could reopen old wounds among fans. The sequel trilogy remains one of the most polarizing canonical arcs in Star Wars history. A new film tied directly to these three movies...

Star Wars has plans for its fourth official spin-off movie, although this one may be its most divisive yet. Since the launch of the Star Wars sequel trilogy in 2015, the star-faring brand has started dipping its toes into the world of cinematic spin-offs. So far, this has come to fruition in the form of Rogue One and Solo. There were originally plans for even more spin-off projects; however, those have since slowed down, with Disney being more intentional about how it releases Star Wars content.
A new report revealed Lucasfilm and Disney may be actively developing a fourth Star Wars spin-off film. This joins the likes of Solo, Rogue One, and the long-gestating Lando led by Atlanta star Donald Glover (spinning off of Solo and Lando Calrissian as a character) as spin-offs of other Star Wars movies, either released or planned for the Lucasfilm slate.

In 2024, Prime Video took a chance on the world of espionage, and it left with an Emmy-nominated spy drama Mr. & Mrs. Smith for its troubles. The announcement for a second season followed some months after, and while we expected filming to kick off soon after, that didn't materialize. That delay probably stemmed from the fact that series stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine had not been confirmed for a return. Ultimately, it has been confirmed that the pair, who performed expertly in Season 1, will not return for a sophomore run. In their place, Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher is set to be the new lead alongside a star from Anora, Mark Eydelshteyn. The exact stories behind their characters remain to be seen, but they are likely to be another rogue spy couple.

The second season of one of Amazon Prime Video’s biggest action hits has recast the lead roles, it has now seemingly been confirmed. While there had been much speculation about whether the spy thriller series, which was met with critical acclaim upon release of its first season back in February 2024, a new report reveals that the two lead roles will indeed be played by new actors as the show goes into Season 2.
Released last year, the action spy thriller series Mr. & Mrs. Smith introduced audiences to Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as the titular duo, with the show following them as they attempt to balance their relationship with each other with their world-saving mission. However, following the first season, which begins with another John and Jane Smith, played by Alexander Skarsgård and Eiza González, being killed off, and the potentially fatal cliffhanger ending, it has long been thought...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1 finale.] Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger that left the fate of its titular couple hanging in the balance. The Season 2 renewal, which came months after Season 1 debuted in full on Prime Video, confirmed that the cliffhanger will be addressed in some form. But the renewal announcement notably didn’t confirm if stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine would be back in the second season. In the time since, there has been a report that the original Smiths would not return and that Season 2 would shift focus onto a new pair of spies, with Billie Eilish rumored to be in consideration to star. Now, Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher is said to be the new lead alongside a star from Anora, 2025’s Best Picture winner at the Oscars. Here’s everything we know about this Emmy-nominated action-drama’s future. Who is in the...

Mr. and Mrs. Smith season 2 has officially moved production from the east coast to the west coast, which is giving us a positive indication to the filming status of the Prime Video spy action series. The show got renewed back in May 2024, so clearly things have been moving at a bit of a snail's pace. However this major update most likely tells us things are going to pick up soon.
The streamer's sophomore season will now be filmed in Los Angeles County, according to Deadline. The news outlet shares that Gov. Gavin Newsom shared the spy drama is making the move after the state approving a $750 million fund for its Film and TV Tax Credit Program. This is a major move to incentivize productions to move back to LA after leaving for places like New York City and Atlanta.

Lena Dunham is looking back on claims of a lack of diversity in her iconic series “Girls.” Dunham created, produced, wrote, and starred in the HBO show, which aired from 2012 to 2017. Almost a decade after wrapping, the showrunner is reflecting on how the series was critically received at the time.
“I think one of the profound issues around ‘Girls’ was that there was so little real estate for women in television,” Dunham told The Independent, “[so] that if you had a show called ‘Girls,’ which is such a monolithic name, it sounds like it’s describing all the girls in all the places. And so if it’s not reflecting a multitude of experiences, I understand how that would be really disappointing to people.”
Dunham is now returning to TV again with her semi-autobiographical Netflix series “Too Much,” which has a large ensemble cast representing a slew of races, genders, and...

There’s a scene in Solo: A Star Wars Story—mid-train heist, snow flying, chaos erupting—where Han quite literally fumbles his way into being the hero. It’s clumsy and unexpectedly heartfelt, much like the movie itself.
Released in 2018 under the shadow of a very public director swap, Disney’s franchise fatigue, and the internet’s inability to let go of Harrison Ford, Solo never really had a fair shot. It grossed $393 million globally, making it the lowest-earning live-action Star Wars film, thus earning it the dreaded “flop” label.
However, box office numbers rarely tell the whole story. Solo isn’t actually a bad movie. In fact, it’s a lot more fun than most people give it credit for.
Solo hit theaters a mere five months after The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson’s film that split the fandom more violently than a lightsaber through a Praetorian Guard.

Is The Empire Strikes Back really the best Star Wars movie, or is that just nostalgia talking? Depending on who you ask, the greatest entry in the galaxy far, far away varies greatly (The Last Jedi's placement on this list shocked me).

Some picks might surprise you, while others have aged into classics that critics and audiences alike weren’t so sure about the first time around.

Just as Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2 will have new lead actors, it will also relocate to a completely different setting. The first season released in February 2024 to critical acclaim, particularly for Mr. & Mrs. Smith's main cast, headed up by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, who were both nominated for Emmys for their performances.
Though the ending of Mr. & Mrs. Smithseason 1 left the door open for Glover and Erskine to potentially return, they are so far not expected to reprise their roles, though Glover will remain on as showrunner and executive producer. Mark Eydelshteyn and Sophie Thatcher will reportedly lead season 2.
Deadlinealso recently reported that, unlike Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 1, which was set and primarily filmed in New York, the second installment has a brand new setting. While specific production details are still under wraps, Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2 will be filmed in Los Angeles, California.

While Prime Video’s Emmy-nominated spy drama Mr. & Mrs. Smith has been renewed for a sophomore run since May 2024, filming is just set to begin soon. A date is expected anytime now, but in the meantime, fans should be aware that a major change has been made to the production of the upcoming season. Per Deadline, Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 will relocate to the West Coast for filming, specifically in Los Angeles County, marking a notable shift from the debut season, which was filmed in New York.
Exact production details for Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s upcoming season are still in discussion, but we know that Governor Gavin Newsom of California revealed the series would be relocating to his state on Wednesday, July 2. Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith is moving to the west coast for Season 2 production.
The second season will be filmed in Los Angeles County, sources tell Deadline, with exact production details still being sorted.
Gov. Gavin Newsom revealed the series would be relocating to California on Wednesday while touting the recently approved $750M in funding for the state’s Film & TV Tax Credit Program. Season 1 of Mr. and Mrs. Smith was primarily filmed in New York with a few locations in Italy, including Lake Como and the Italian Dolomites.
Though the series was granted an incentive within the last three cycles, it is not clearly listed on the California Film Commission’s list of approved projects. Sometimes, high-profile productions are listed under different, more discreet names.
Just last week, the commission approved 48 new films for $96M in tax credits.

Image Source: Walt Disney Studios Remember when Solo: A Star Wars Story first landed in cinemas back in 2018? Yeah, it was a bit of a bumpy ride, right? Critics and fans seemed pretty split on it. The film was, of course, a prequel, diving deep into the galactic criminal underworld. It’s where we finally got to see how Han Solo became the Han Solo, meeting his soon-to-be best friend Chewbacca and the incredibly cool Lando Calrissian years before any Rebel Alliance shenanigans. And come on, the cast was truly great, with Alden Ehrenreich stepping into those legendary boots, Donald Glover just owning Lando, plus Emilia Clarke and a whole bunch of other fantastic actors. Now, about that behind-the-scenes drama… it was pretty wild. The original directors ended up leaving, and then, boom! The legendary Oscar winner Ron Howard swooped in to take over the director’s chair. Fast forward a few years,...

Derek Dixon’s recently filed $260 million litigation against Tyler Perry alleges sexual harassment, battery and assault — claims that the Atlanta entertainment mogul has called a shakedown. The sensational details of the suit, however, may obscure a more prosaic assertion found in the filing, one that has long trailed Perry — that he is operating his namesake studio without standard workplace guardrails.
Dixon contends that he didn’t report Perry, the impresario responsible for Tyler Perry Studios, after being purportedly pinned against a wall and groped by him because he wasn’t aware of a human resources department at the facility. Regardless of the legitimacy of this assertion, questions have long surrounded Perry’s relationship with industry labor.

Ironheart Star Picks Two Marvel Characters She Wants for an MCU Team Up (& 1 is a Live-Action Debut)
Dominique Thorne has her eyes on Ironheart's Riri Williams hanging out with heroes yet to debut in the MCU.
Speaking with Cbr's Sean O'Connell at the Ironheart press junket, Thorne discussed what lies next for Riri after her Disney+ series and which heroes she'd want to team up with specifically. Rather than any Avenger, Thorne wants Riri to have "an X-Men pairing" in Phase 6 and beyond. She told O'Connell, "I would love to see her with Charles Xavier. I would just love to see her be met with that level of---or even Magneto---of that level of intellect."
Thorne added:
I think it would really humble Riri in a cool way. And I would be curious to see who she would become, and how she would walk away from that experience. Because clearly we're seeing how she walked away from the Wakanda experience, even more motivated, even more ambitious.

If you are a Community fan and own a Hulu subscription, next month will be a great one for you. This week, the streaming platform announced that all seasons of the cult comedy are being added to the library, and you can start binging as early as July 3. In case you missed the series, this is the perfect chance to find out why it became such a high-rated show back when it started airing in 2009. The entire story has six seasons – and a movie that has been in the works for a decade.
One of the reasons why Community became as popular as it did is because pretty much every episode contains a ton of references to other shows and movies. It could go as big as referencing Batman movies but also use some lesser-known references to inspire an entire episode, like the one built around the 1981 cult comedy My Dinner With Andre.

When you meet Amaarae, it’s hard not to notice how much deeper her speaking voice is compared with the sweet falsetto she constantly deploys in her music. It’s all intentional: “There’s a sensitivity and a vulnerability that I get to tap into in my music that isn’t very easy for me to express,” she tells me under the shade of a teahouse at the Japanese Garden outside of Los Angeles. “Deep down, I’m a sensitive and mushy person.”
Amaarae has been thinking a lot about who she really is.

"Community" is a show with a lot of moving parts. The Greendale Seven each bring their own element of cute and cuddly chaos to the table — or more accurately, the four-part desk clump in the Greendale study room. If there's one part of the show that you could say was the heart and soul of NBC's classic comedy, it has to be Troy and Abed. The lovable duo are attached at the hip before season 1 is over, and they remain inseparable for the duration of the show — that is, until they are ruthlessly torn asunder in the dramatic season 5 episode "Geothermal Escapism" (which also happens to be one of the show's best themed installments).
In the previous episode ("Cooperative Polygraphy"), Troy becomes the recipient of the deceased Pierce Hawthorne's multi-million-dollar fortune. However, as part of the agreement, he has to sail Pierce's boat, "The Childish Tycoon," around the world on his own.
