When asked if taking on his role in She Rides Shotgun was a response to anything else he had worked on around the same time, Egerton replied, "Not really. I'm just out here trying to make things that mean something to me, and I'm not really trying to second-guess the perception of them too much." Egerton added, "You just follow the thing that you're inclined towards creatively. So I try as far as possible to separate myself from the perception of why I’m doing what I’m doing and just do what I'm doing."

Adapted from Jordan Harper’s 2017 novel of the same name, She Rides Shotgun starts out promisingly, with Nate McClusky (Taron Egerton) picking up his daughter, Polly (Ana Sophia Heger), from school. With his lithe, tattoo-covered body, the scowling skinhead makes for an imposing figure, and Polly doesn’t seem thrilled about being in his presence. It doesn’t help that the car he’s driving is obviously stolen, and she clearly doesn’t believe him when he tells her that her mother is just fine. We’re not sure that we should believe him either.

This opening stretch captures the characters of the book as well as the character of its setting. The Californian desert is shot to highlight the burn of its sun and the brutal beauty of its landscapes. It's been a while since we had an update to share about The Night Agent season 3 as the upcoming season remained in production for much of the year, but we finally have some news directly from the creator himself. Peter Sutherland's next mission just got one step closer to hitting our screens as the third season officially hit the filming milestone that fans have been waiting for.

On July 14, The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan revealed on social media that season has "officially wrapped production." Filming on the forthcoming third season began back in February 2025 before season 2 had even been released on Netflix. Because the shoot took the cast and crew to so many different locations, filming lasted through half of the year, but it's finally completed.

XYZ Films confirmed SXSW standout Hallow Road will have a US theatrical release. The psychological thriller starring Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike and Emmy winner Matthew Rhys opened in the UK on May 16, 2025 and will arrive in US theaters this fall.

The thriller, which currently sits at 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, also stars Megan McDonnell (Normal People). BAFTA winner Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow) directed and William Gillies wrote the screenplay.

“In the film, two parents enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter,” reads XYZ Films’ synopsis. “As they head deeper into the night, disturbing revelations threaten to tear the family apart as they realize they might not be the only ones driving down Hallow Road.”

"We knew we were going to do a field-trip episode. We knew we were going to go to Philly again," co-showrunner and executive producer Patrick Schumacker tells Gold Derby. "We've only done that one other time in Season 2. This time we were going to do it for multiple days and we were gonna fly out, like, 60 people from the cast and crew and writers and to be out there. So, you know, big expense, that sort of thing. We blew it out at the end."

Despite saving a number of people during a terrorist attack on the metro, he's assigned to the frustrating role of "Night Agent," watching over a phone in the basement of the White House that seems to never ring ... until one day it does.

The first two seasons followed Sutherland as he tried to discover the identity of a mole somewhere high up in the U.S. government, and though he managed to discover quite a bit of corruption, it also came at a serious cost.

During the Ravens vs. Texans NFL game on Christmas Day, fans got a surprise treat — the trailer for The Night Agent Season 2. After the massive success of Season 1, it looks like Peter Sutherland’s (played by Gabriel Basso) journey is far from over.

In the new season, Peter has moved up from his previous basement job, where he watched a dormant phone. He’s now part of Night Action, an ultra-secretive government organization.

Season 1 saw Peter saving the President of the United States and tackling a major conspiracy. But in the new season, things are much darker. Peter’s investigation into a CIA leak has gone wrong, and it’s clear that he can trust no one — not even Rose (Luciane Buchanan), his ally from Season 1. The stakes are even higher now as Peter faces threats from all sides.

Gone are the tedious days of Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) sitting next to a dormant phone in the White House basement — and nigh is the day for Night Action now that he’s finally part of the ultra-confidential organization. After successfully saving the President of the United States in Season 1, Peter was tasked with investigating a leak in the C.I.A., but in the Season 2 trailer, his operation appears to have been compromised, and Peter trusts no one — not even Rose (Luciane Buchanan), and certainly not Night Action itself. Season 2 will pick up shortly after Season 1 and is based on the novel by Matthew Quirk.

Night Agent is returning with season two and in the new trailer (below) that dropped on Christmas, Gabriel Basso‘s Peter Sutherland is on the run.

The Sony Pictures TV and Shawn Ryan conspiracy series that was a mega-hit for Netflix in 2023 returns after almost two years with season two on Jan. 23, 2025. Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent‘s first season centered on Peter as a low-level FBI agent answering overnight calls for the secretive White House organization called Night Action. His heroic efforts (he saved the president) earned him a promotion to Night Agent by the end of the season. But, as the trailer shows, a mission outside of Washington, D.C. now puts a target on his back once again.

The trailer for the 10-episode new season dropped — literally — during the NFL’s Ravens vs. Texans Christmas game that aired live on Netflix.

Wild Cards has landed some new guest players for its second season, TVLine has learned.

With Season 2 returning to The CW on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 8/7c, expect to see some new faces as Martin Sheen (The West Wing) steps into the recurring role of Joseph Edwards. His character is described as being “the greatest con man of all time” with connections to con woman Max Mitchell (Vanessa Morgan) and her father George (Jason Priestley).

“The Night Agent” is building out its cast for Season 3.

Variety has learned that David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, and Callum Vinson have all joined the third season of the Netflix spy thriller as series regulars, with Suraj Sharma onboard in a recurring role.

Exact character details are being kept under wraps. Season 3 is now in production in Istanbul and will return to film in New York in 2025.

It was reported in October that “The Night Agent” had been renewed for Season 3, with Season 2 of the show set to debut on Jan. 23. Variety also reported that Rodriguez was in talks for a role back in November.

Every season, Netflix’s hit action-thriller The Night Agent introduces a new story and new characters around title character Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who has been accompanied so far by Luciane Buchanan’s Rose Larkin. Season 3 is shaping up to introduce the highest-profile new cast, with three new series regulars who have led their own shows, David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison and Stephen Moyer.

They join fellow new series regulars Genesis Rodriguez (Lioness), whose pending casting was revealed last month, and child actor Callum Vinson (Chucky). Additionally, Suraj Sharma (How I Met Your Father) has been tapped as recurring.

Per usual, no details are being revealed about the characters. I hear Lyons will play a former spy lured out of retirement, Morrison will play the First Lady, Moyer will play a top hitman; and Rodriguez will play a reporter.

On November 29th, HBO will release its documentary about the late 1970s to early 1980s soft rock wave that is now colloquially known as “yacht rock” as if the guys who invented the term didn’t already nail the untold story.

In Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary, HBO will continue its Music Box Film series with an examination of an oft-mocked but still beloved era of music history, complete with profiles of yacht rock legends such as Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross and, of course, Steely Dan. Over the last few years, these artists have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity as a new generation of listeners continue to fall in love with the smooth, soulful, jazzy fusion of rock and roll and other predominantly Black genres played by white guys with flowing hair and bushy beards kissed by an ocean breeze.

As music critic and writer Steve Huey once explained, “from 1976 to 1984, the radio airwaves were dominated by really smooth music.” Once known as soft rock, since the mid-2000s pretty much everyone has called it Yacht Rock.

We’re talking of course about the music of people like Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, Toto, Christopher Cross — pop songwriters at the intersection of soul, jazz and disco who were defiantly uncool for their day but are now recognized as the legends they are. And as an early Christmas president, HBO is giving people a crash course via “Yacht Rock: A Documentary,” which debuts Nov. 29.

Directed by Garret Price, the film features commentary from legends like McDonald, Loggins, Cross and more, plus some of the people they influenced — like Thundercat, Mac DeMarco and Questlove.

The upcoming Netflix limited drama series “The Beast in Me” has added four new cast members, Variety has learned.

Brittany Snow, Natalie Morales, David Lyons, and Tim Guinee will all star in the show alongside previously announced leads Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. The show was originally picked up to series at the streamer back in March.

The official description of the series states:

We finally have great news for fans of Netflix's hit legal drama series The Lincoln Lawyer. While the streaming service previously set the series' third for a release in 2025, we no longer have to wait that long. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 will make its premiere on Oct. 17, 2024!

Netflix announced the release date news on Aug. 21 and unveiled a number of first look photos from the upcoming season, which tease Mickey Haller back in the courtroom taking on Glory Days' murder case as well as a photo of him and Maggie getting a little up close and personal.

Indie film distributor Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. and Canada and select international territories on sci-fi thriller “The Fix,” starring Grace Van Dien, who appeared in “Stranger Things.”

It will be released on Nov. 22 on digital and cable transactional video on demand.

Directed by Kelsey Egan, “The Fix” co-stars Daniel Sharman, Keenan Arrison, Tina Redman, Robyn Rossouw, Tafara Nyatsanza, Nicole Fortuin and Clancy Brown.
