Chicago Fire's long run means that the Chicago Fire cast has shifted many times over the years, but not every character gets a well-respected exit. The show revolves around the intense Firehouse 51 which is home to several paramedics and firefighters who work hard to save people from life-threatening situations. In scenes elevated by the show's stellar setting, several characters are fired from the noteworthy firehouse for being reckless in times of crisis.
The One Chicago shows feature a never-ending rotation of characters as each high-intensity situation calls for new faces and storylines. Chicago Fire is no different and has featured introductions and exits of both new and recurring characters throughout its many seasons. While the procedural has been known to kill off characters, it has also shown several characters being fired as a way to write them out of the show.

Writer/director/producer Corey Sherman helmed an ode to his own coming-of-age and coming out story, while honoring both his “big” feelings and physicality.
Sherman’s indie comedy “Big Boys” centers on teenage boy Jamie’s (Isaac Krasner) unexpected crush during a camping trip. While Jamie is elated to spend time with his cousin (Dora Madison), he really only has eyes for her boyfriend and fellow “big boy” Dan (David Johnson III).
Emily Deschanel, Taj Cross, Marion Van Cuyck, Emma Broz, and Jack De Sanz co-star.
Sherman writes, directs, and edits, as well as serves as a producer alongside Allison Tate.
“We made a film about a young man’s unrequited crush to shed light on this extremely common, yet under-examined aspect of queer life,” Sherman said in a press statement. “In most romantic stories, the object of the protagonist’s love eventually returns their affection. However, for many queer people like myself,...

Dark Star Pictures has acquired North American distribution rights to “Big Boys,” an LGBTQ coming-of-age comedy. The company is planning a theatrical release in May, followed by a digital launch in June, which will coincide with Pride Month.
Written and directed by Corey Sherman, “Big Boys” follows a group of teenage boys whose unexpected romantic attachment transforms a simple camping trip into a weekend of self-discovery. “The first crush of a young queer person is a profound experience, filled with awkward, humorous moments. We aimed to delve into this pivotal phase, resonating with those who’ve had similar experiences,” says Sherman. “We’re thrilled to partner with Dark Star Pictures and share this film across North America.”
The film’s ensemble cast includes Emily Deschanel (FX’s “Bones”), Dora Madison (“Alone With You”), Taj Cross (Hulu’s “PEN15”), Marion Van Cuyck (Hulu’s “PEN15”) and newcomer Isaac Krasner. It was...

The beginning of Exists echoes those many other horror films set in the deep woods. Hapless folks encounter an unusual threat, likely after trespassing or offending the locals. And as this well-used formula commands, the characters then die in gruesome fashion. Eduardo Sánchez’s 2014 film is, admittedly, derivative of most body-count horrors with rural backdrops, yet it contains at least one novelty to set it apart: a Bigfoot. Hardly five minutes into this film and the young cast hits something on the road. As they assess the damage to their car and figure out what they struck, the characters get the sinking feeling that they are being watched from the nearby woods. Someone finally states the obvious: “That wasn’t no deer, bro.”
On average, found-footage horror films delay their strangeness in an effort to establish a semblance of normalcy. Make everything hypernormal and deliberately tedious so that the bizarre bits are more persuasive.

A new episode of the Revisited video series has just arrived online, and in this one we’re looking back at a movie that was just released last year, writer/director Joe Begos‘s holiday horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas – which got an 8/10 review from our own JimmyO that you can read Here and is available to watch on the Shudder streaming service. To find out what we had to say about Christmas Bloody Christmas one year after its release, check out the video embedded above!
Christmas Bloody Christmas has the following synopsis: It’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms just wants to get drunk and party, until the robotic Santa Claus at a nearby toy store goes haywire and makes her night more than a little complicated. Santa Claus begins a rampant killing spree through the neon-drenched snowscape against a backdrop of drugs, sex, metal and violence,...

5 Best Christmas Horror Movies(Photo Credit –IMDb)
When one thinks of Christmas, horror, and gore are generally not the first things that come to mind. Christmas is all about having fun. It’s full of life and color, and identifying it as scary would be out of place. And while Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” does make a perfect example of a ‘scary Christmas,’ it does not qualify as a traditional, spine-chilling horror movie. But contrary to popular narrative — certain media out there does it, and does it well. Think of the latest “Fargo” episode that runs a Halloween theme and blends it with “Nightmare Before Christmas.”
So, the appeal behind it is understandable. This is why we have curated a list of the best Christmas horror movies you can enjoy for a change of pace from all the happy and sparkly traditions.

In today’s movie landscape, its easy to get a sequel or remake greenlit, particularly in horror, but what about an original movie that is a heavy homage to an older title? This can give is something fresh and fun if done well. It has to have the right ingredients like the right actors on screen, the right script, and know exactly what it is and what it’s meant to accomplish. Indie director Joe Begos was the right guy to give us a wholly original genre flick that came out in 2019 to seemingly good reviews but little fanfare 4 years later. A distressingly large number of first-time American indie films focus on coming-of-age stories. In cases where the director is gay, there’s a good chance their first feature will be a coming-out/coming-of-age story. What else should we expect? The directors haven’t been on earth all that long, and they write what they know, or else, what they’ve seen in other movies.
That said, “Big Boys” surprised me. Corey Sherman’s deliciously uncomfortable debut features a lot of the usual ingredients: a misfit teenage protagonist, a transformative couple days, a series of embarrassing but life-altering experiences. But I hadn’t seen anyone like his main character at the center of a movie before and loved how awkwardly this kid navigates trying to figure himself out.
Fourteen-year-old Jamie doesn’t know what to make of his identity. At one point, wrestling with conflicting desires, he sits alone with his...

There’s an everyday magical quality to the brief summer camping trip in which quiet yet formative changes take hold in Big Boys, Corey Sherman’s slender but lovely study of a chubby gay teen’s first steps toward self-acceptance. The stigma of body-shaming on queer kids in the early stages of their evolution is under-explored territory, refreshingly examined here less in its isolation than its incipient liberation — via time spent with a plus-size dude who exudes sexy, confident masculinity and a barrel-load of empathy.
The writer-director’s personal experience is threaded through every scene of a well-acted movie that’s sure to be a modest crowd-pleaser at LGBTQ festivals and could also land streamer exposure. The kind of young queer audiences who made Netflix’s Heartstoppers a hit should gravitate to this highly specific but relatable story, which will speak most directly to awkward-age boys struggling to see how...

Isaac Krasner delivers a sublime breakout performance as a lovestruck teen in Corey Sherman’s restrained but magical debut
With its come-on of a title, its coming-of-age narrative and its teen hero on the verge of coming out, Big Boys sounds like the sort of Lgbtqia+ fare that grows on trees. In fact, this debut from the writer-director Corey Sherman is a real four-leaf clover: delicate, unique and subtly magical.
In its 16-year-old lead actor, Isaac Krasner, the film boasts a star and a breakthrough performance reminiscent of Jason Schwartzman in Rushmore. His 14-year-old character, Jamie, also exudes the studied charm and comic fastidiousness of Rushmore’s hero Max Fischer. Preparing for a long weekend at Lake Arrowhead, California, with his loutish brother Will (Taj Cross) and their doting older cousin, Allie (Dora Madison), Jamie – whose hero is Anthony Bourdain – packs an array of spices to season the campfire meat.

While Violent Night is lighting the box office on fire, there’s another film featuring a Santa with a bit of bloodlust: Christmas Bloody Christmas. Thankfully this Santa is much less friendly and a lot more homicidal. I was fortunate enough to talk with the writer/director, Joe Begos, and pick his brain on this wonderful little title. He talks about how it started as a Silent Night, Deadly Night remake, only to evolve into a killer robot Santa film. This is probably my favorite conversation yet, so don’t miss it!

"Ho ho ho!!" Rlje Films + Shudder have revealed an official trailer for a hilariously crazy, brutally violent new holiday horror film titled Christmas Bloody Christmas. While there have been other animatronics-come-alive horror films this year already (see Spirit Halloween and The Curse of Bridge Hollow) this one looks like the best. It's the latest film from director Joe Begos, known for his gritty indie features Bliss and Vfw previously. It's Christmas Eve and Tori just wants to get drunk and finally party, but when a robotic Santa Clause at a nearby toy store goes haywire and begins a rampant killing spree through her small town, she's forced into a battle for survival. The film stars Riley Dandy, Sam Delich, Jonah Ray Rodrigues, Dora Madison, Jeremy Gardner, Jeff Daniel Phillips, & Abraham Benrubi. Uh looks awesome?!?! Wtf! It's the most wonderful time of the year. I'm talking about Beyond Fest: probably one of the best (if not the best) genre film festivals in Los Angeles. Every year they seem to top themselves with the screenings they hold. This year, they had an incredible Rrr screening in IMAX at the Tcl Chinese Theatre and a William Shatner triple feature with Shatner himself in attendance. But today, I'll be talking about a movie that will be your new favorite Christmas killer robotic Santa movie. I'm talking about the new Joe Begos joint, Christmas Bloody Christmas.
I was lucky enough to attend the world premiere at the Hollywood Legion Theater filled with Christmas cheer, Santa hats from everyone, and a killer robot Santa photo op. So, without further ado, let me tell you what this movie is all about: "...it’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms...

Plot: It’s Christmas Eve, and Tori and Robbie just want to party and get drunk. Unfortunately, a robotic Santa with evil intentions may ruin their plans.
Review: Recently, I went to the World Premiere screening of Christmas Bloody Christmas at this year’s Beyond Fest. Intending to review this flick, I decided to go in completely blind. Indeed, the title gives a little warning, but the lively introduction of writer/director Joe Begos grabbed my attention. Whatever this holiday offering had, it was going to be rambunctious. And now, I’m happy to say that the wild and wooly, fast-paced fright fest is perhaps one of the best St. Nick inspired horror features in recent years. Bloody, with practical effects, and many F-bombs to offend those who don’t like cursing. And I cannot wait to talk about the rockstar performances of Sam Delich and especially Riley Dandy.

The Vigil
The first two acts of Keith Thomas’ film are effective enough, as a young man named Yakov, having recently left Orthodox Jewish community after a traumatic incident, is tasked with keeping vigil over a recently deceased man who he soon finds had been targeted by a dangerous spirit. But it’s in the third act when the film becomes truly special as Thomas merges themes of Jewish demonology, grief, and faith into perhaps the most satisfyingly bittersweet ending of any movie this year. Huge credit is also due to Dave Davis, who as Yakov carries a lot of the heavy lifting both in the turmoil from his past and the terrifying entity that’s got him in its crosshairs. It’s quite haunting and also incorporates interesting themes about finding your path in the world even after living through unimaginable heartbreak.

One of my favorites out of Fantastic Fest 2021 is definitely Alone with You. It’s a simple story, set largely in a single location, where our main character is the target of a somewhat unconventional haunting. Directors Emily Bennett and Justin Brooks craft a chilling tale that uses shattered imagery to create a downward spiral of dread.
As the film opens, Charlie (Bennett) is preparing to welcome her girlfriend, Simone (Emma Miles). Simone is a photographer who has been away on a job, and Charlie is excitedly preparing a homecoming surprise in their beautiful Brooklyn apartment. She wants everything to be perfect. She has the flowers, the wine, the sexy nightgown—everything. Through some early flashbacks, we get the sense that all has not been well in their relationship, and that this surprise might be a bit of a peace offering as much as a homecoming. But either way, Charlie...

Welcome to the world of the gig economy gone quantum, literally. Lapsis, the first fictional feature from documentarian Noah Hutton posits a near future/alternative present where quantum computing has gone mainstream. And the new “ride share” is cabling, running fiber across the wilderness to link massive slab like junction boxes.
Ray (Dean Imperial) struggles to make ends meet as a driver for a shady airport delivery service. He doesn’t have a wife or kids but he does have a brother Jamie (Babe Howard) who suffers from Omnia, a chronic-fatigue like ailment. Getting him into a treatment program is well beyond his means. So, despite his technophobia and lack of physical conditioning, he turns to Cblr, one of the companies hiring “independent contractors”’ to lay cable for quantum personal computers.

Hello, everyone! Throughout the month of April, I’m going to be offering up some streaming suggestions in support of our ongoing Indie Horror Month celebration, and today, we’re celebrating 13 different films that are currently streaming on Shudder. For this list, I tried to offer up some titles that have either been on the platform for a while now, so maybe they’ve gotten lost in the mix (since Shudder regularly updates their service with so much killer content), or they’ve generally just flown under the radar of most fans. So, while I absolutely adore movies like Host or Mandy, I felt like horror fans in general are already tuned in to those masterpieces, and I wanted to give a few other films a shot at glory here as well.

Chicago Fire is saying goodbye to another paramedic.
Chicago Fire Season 9 Episode 9 said goodbye to its newest medic, Gianna Mackey, but was it for real?
Adriyan Rae joined the cast as a series regular for Chicago Fire Season 9, leading to some fans questioning whether the actress would be back.
If you watch Chicago Fire online, you know Mackey was given the opportunity to work at another firehouse, which would give her the means to advance in her career.
That, coupled with the fact that she was struggling to work because she worried about Cruz on calls. It was quite the twist, but is Rae out of the series?
“Adriyan let us know she had some private reasons to leave Chicago,” showrunner Derek Haas explained to EW.com, confirming the actress was exiting.

Chicago Fire has lost yet another paramedic: Adriyan Rae, who joined this season as newbie medic Gianna Mackey, has exited the NBC drama, TVLine has confirmed.
In Wednesday’s episode, Mackey was offered a position at another firehouse, which would allow for the opportunity for future advancement. After confessing to Cruz that she worries about him on calls and gets distracted, Mackey decided to accept the job offer and transfer. (In related news, it seemed like Boden might have tapped Gallo’s ex Violet as Mackey’s replacement.)

As multi-billion dollar corporations expand their reach within their respective industries (and beyond), the wage gap in our country increases. Executives are granted astronomical bonuses while the people on the ground floor are shifted from full-time employment to freelancers as a way to mitigate the possibility of unions, paying health insurance, etc. Welcome to the gig economy: a capitalist spin promising “self-employment” and freedom while actually trending towards isolation so that anyone can be cut loose before they start costing more to keep on the payroll than they’re worth in profits. Meet your quota. Follow the automated voice about break time. Compete with your fellow workers and quite literally take food out of their mouths upon winning while your bosses laugh over a scotch on the golf course.

Arriving in theaters this weekend is the pulse-pounding and bone-crunching action/horror hybrid Vfw, from director Joe Begos. The film pits a grizzled group of veterans against a ragtag horde of punks who have descended upon the veterans’ local watering hole, resulting in a fight to the bitter end. Written by Max Brallier and Matthew McArdle, Vfw stars Stephen Lang, Martin Kove, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, George Wendt, Tom Williamson, Sierra McCormick, Travis Hammer, and Dora Madison.
Last year, Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with both Joe Begos and Stephen Lang while at Fantastic Fest (you can read part one of our interview Here), and the duo chatted about tackling the ambitious action sequences throughout Vfw and the various challenges Begos faced while crafting his most ambitious feature to date.

That co-writer Matthew McArdle remains shocked even after seeing the film he and Max Brallier wrote on the big screen shows how tough the accomplishment proves. Best friends since childhood, the two began their script for Vfw with transparent intentions as far as harkening back to the no-holds-barred VHS gems they’d scour video store shelves to find. Using John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13 as inspiration, they created a group of aging vets decades-removed from service yet still thick as thieves with a drug-fueled, zombie-esque horde threatening to attack their Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in waves. It took seven years, but Dallas Sonnier finally called to say he’d finance it before director Joe Begos, a stellar cast of character actors, and the rejuvenated Fangoria label came aboard.
