‘Countdown’ Boss Derek Haas Assembled His Own Special Task Force to Make His Version of an ’80s Classic
Image
The countdown is on for “Countdown,” Prime Video’s new special task force crime drama from Derek Haas premiering June 25.

The series stars Jensen Ackles, Jessica Camacho, Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu, Jonathan Togo and Elliot Knight as various law enforcement agents who are put together under leader Eric Dane to solve a murder … with much greater implications for Los Angeles.

“A lot of shows in this genre, for whatever reason, in the last 10 to 15 years, they’re really dark and cynical and super gritty and dirty. I remember the movies from the ’80s I grew up loving — ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ ‘Crimson Tide,’ ‘Die Hard,’ ‘Lethal Weapon’ — which I don’t feel like you see in this genre too much anymore,” Haas told TheWrap at the premiere. “Thankfully, I got Jensen Ackles … he could have been in any of those movies.”

“The hardest thing is to come up with surprises.

Ever since The Night Agent landed on Netflix, the series has become one of the platform’s most-watched shows. The wildly popular series is an action thriller that follows a low-level FBI agent named Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who works in the basement of the White House. His only job is to answer the phone if it ever rings. Nonetheless, it never does. Designated for a highly classified counterintelligence program within the FBI known as Night Action, the phone is meant to assist undercover agents in the field should they ever need immediate help. As such, Peter spends most of his time analyzing reports rather than actually answering the phone.

Everything to Remember from ‘The Night Agent’ Season 1
Image
Two years after Shawn Ryan’s “The Night Agent” exploded on Netflix, the action-thriller starring Gabriel Basso returns on January 23. Season 1 viewers will recall that Basso plays FBI agent Peter Sutherland, tasked with answering a mysterious phone in the White House basement that never rings — until it does.

Everything Peter thought he knew about his job, his employers, and the FBI itself is called into question, and somewhere in all the high-octane madness, he and Rose fall in love.

Ahead of the Season 2 premiere, Netflix released the first eight minutes as a teaser, as well as the news that Season 3 is officially a go. But before diving into all that, let’s...

Who Was Behind The Metro Bombing In The Night Agent
Image
The Night Agent season 1 is filled with several shocking twists, including the truth about Peter Sutherland Sr. (Sebastien Robert), the White House mole, and who was behind the metro attack. The Night Agent became one of Netflix's biggest new shows when it was released, praised by both critics and audiences for its action, plot twists, and engaging storyline.

After intercepting the bomber during the metro attack, Diane Farr (Hong Chau) gives Peter a new job answering the night action emergency line. During one of his shifts, Peter receives a call from Rose (Luciane Buchanan) that leads him to involvement in the metro bombing investigation and uncovering who the masterminds behind the attack were.

‘DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow’ Duo Andrew Kasch & Adam Tsekhman Join Forces With Other Angle Pictures On ‘The Gummy Bear’ Movie – AFM
Image
Exclusive: When the CW announced in 2022 that it was cancelling DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow after seven seasons, actor-writer Adam Tsekhman, who played Gary Green, and writer-director Andrew Kasch, who was attached as an editor and director, admit it was a blow.

But the pair, who had become friends over the course of their six years on the superhero show, did not rest idle for long as they came together to collaborate on a whacky short film called The Gummy Bear.

“In our depression, Andrew had the idea for the short and invited me over, and we did it for nothing,” says Canadian actor Tsekhman.

The actor stars in the psychedelic short as a man who is given an experimental gummy bear as a freebie with his regular cannabis delivery. One bite sends him on an unexpected mind-blowing trip. Kasch mixes live action with a kaleidoscope of different animation styles for the trip scenes.

What Netflix's The Night Agent Changed About Matthew Quirk's Book
Image
This post contains spoilers for "The Night Agent," the novel and the TV series.

Before "The Night Agent" arrived on Netflix, it was sitting on shelves at Barnes & Noble. The 2023 political thriller series is an adaptation of Matthew Quirk's eponymous 2019 novel. A former journalist, Quirk writes breezy paperback thrillers in the Tom Clancy mold. "The Night Agent" is no different — a low-ranking FBI agent answers a call from a woman who escaped an assassin and together they come across a conspiracy within the White House.

That said, Netflix's "The Night Agent" is a very loose adaptation, as it uses the novel's premise and main characters to tell a different story. The novel's core characters — Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), and White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr (Hong Chau) — are in the series. However, it also invents many new characters to fill out the supporting cast.

Caity Lotz Weighs In On ‘DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow’ Cancellation: “It Has Been A Blast”
Image
The Black Canary, aka actress Caity Lotz, has finally spoken about the cancellation of the long-running DC’s Legends of Tomorrow series by The CW before its eighth season. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has had a number of cast changes over the years. Lotz, who played Sara Lance/White Canary, was the only original cast member left from season one. The character first appeared as Black Canary on Arrow in October 2013 until the spinoff into “Legends,” which bowed in January 2016. Lotz had a late reaction to the cancellation news, as she was deeply immersed in Washington, D.C. lobbying efforts with The Creative Coalition for National Endowment for the Art funding. .

“I’m going to miss it so much,” she said in a series of Instagram Story videos. “I’m going to miss our amazing cast and crew. But at the same time I recognize how lucky have been to...

The waverider is being grounded for good.

Legends of Tomorrow has been canceled after seven seasons at The CW.

Co-showrunner Keto Shimizu took to social media on Friday night to reveal the sad news.

“Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no Season 8 of Legends of Tomorrow," the tweet reads.

"We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew, and writers have contributed to the little show that could.”

Legends of Tomorrow Season 7 averaged 528,000 viewers and a 0.09 rating in the demo, up year-to-year.

With a week of DVR viewing factored in, the Arrowverse series builds to 860,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.

The series wrapped its run back in March, and unfortunately, there was no closure for fans, meaning that the best we can hope for is a wrap-up as part of a crossover.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will not return for an eighth season.

It marks the end of a long road for the series, which premiered in 2016.

While The CW is known for giving its longer-running series a proper goodbye, this season of Legends ended on a cliffhanger. Sources, however, pointed out that the characters can easily populate other series in the DC Arrowverse so you may see one or two of them in other shows.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow wraps up its seventh season this week with “Knocked Down Knocked Up.” After last week’s episode, you’ve probably got a guess as to what the episode title is a reference to, but in addition to possibly paying off some of the future hints given to the Legends by Evil Gideon in order to convince them to retire, this episode wraps up what many would consider the strongest season of the show. We had a chance to speak with Legends Executive Producer and Arrowverse veteran Keto Shimizu about the episode, and the show’s growth over its seven seasons.

“I think there have been some big mileposts along the way to where we are now,” she tells us. “But the team of writers that we work with, we just know these characters so well, and we’re always trying to find a way to...

Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian, Nick Zano, Amy Louise Pemberton, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, and Lisseth Chavez in DC's Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow is making some changes as it looks toward Season 7.

The cast - including Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, Olivia Swann, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian, Lisseth Chavez, and Matt Ryan - plus executive producers/co-showrunners Keto Shimizu and Phil Klemmer appeared at a Legends panel at Comic Con@Home to discuss the series.

Series star Caity Lotz introduced the panel with a sneak peek at a trailer that featured an exclusive look at the remainder of the show's sixth season.

Phil Klemmer revealed that "while John Constantine's arc on the show is coming to an end in season six, Matt Ryan's journey with the Legends is not over."

In season seven, Ryan will be back as a series regular, and he will play a new original role: Dr. Gwyn Davies, an eccentric scientist from the early 20th century who might be the team's only hope next season.

‘Legends Of Tomorrow’: Matt Ryan To Switch Characters, Amy Louise Pemberton To Play Human Gideon Full-Time In Season 7 – Comic-Con
Image
Matt Ryan, who has played John Constantine on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow since Season 3, will be wrapping up his arc as the DC antihero in the current sixth season, but Ryan is not going anywhere.

Also in season 7, series regular voiceover cast member Amy Louise Pemberton, who has voiced Gideon, the Waverider’s AI, for all six seasons and has appeared as the AI’s physical form a handful of times, will now portray a flesh-and-blood version of Gideon in the real world, also as a series regular.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow will return to The CW this weekend with its sixth season, and there are big things ahead for the quirky superhero series. This season, viewers will see a solo story for Constantine (Matt Ryan), an animated episode, a parody of The Masked Singer, and a “Clue” type episode.

7 Things We Want to See on DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6
Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian, Nick Zano, Amy Louise Pemberton, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, and Lisseth Chavez in DC's Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
If we know one thing about DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6, it is that it will be delightfully crazy. Oh, and there will also be aliens.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 left off on a cliffhanger of Sara getting beamed up because, why not?

This show has fully leaned into its unique, strange way of storytelling the past couple of seasons, and we have loved every second of it. But we do have a few things on our wishlist for the next season.

Cliché Aliens

DC's Legends of Tomorrow has a way of taking cliché villains, genres, and motifs and making them entirely their own. That's why we want to see good ole, classic aliens.

When you think of an alien, the first thing that comes to mind is little green guys with rounded heads and beady black eyes. And that's exactly what we want to see this season.

Not...

Legends: Astra Gets Disneyfied as Animated Princess in Season 6 Trailer
Image
Legends of Tomorrow is following up last season’s inspired Friends, Star Trek and Downton Abbey homage episode by spoofing Disney animated classics and singing competition shows.

In a new trailer for Season 6 of the CW superhero series (premiering this Sunday at 8/7c), Astra (Olivia Swann) somehow — don’t think too hard about it; it’s Legends after all — gets transformed into an animated princess. Elsewhere, the Legends visit a singing competition program called Da Throne, which looks like the lovechild of American Idol and The Masked Singer.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the stoner little brother of the CW DC television universe, is on its way back in May, and Den of Geek is psyched to give you an exclusive first look at the new poster. In keeping with the show’s themes, it’s a subdued period piece.

The poster features all the returning cast members – Caity Lotz as White Canary Sara Lance; her girlfriend, Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan); Matt Ryan as the platonic ideal of John Constantine; Nick Zano as the heart and soul (and liver) of the Waverider, Shotgun Nate Heywood; Tala Ashe’s Zari Tarazi; and Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave. The poster also features new regulars – the delightful Gary (Adam Tsekhman); Constantine fixer-upper success story Astra Logue (Olivia Swann); Behrad Tarazi (Shayan Sobhian), Zari’s brother and the superhero equivalent of Schrodinger’s sibling; and newcomer Lisseth Chavez as Spooner Cruz, a...

The Legends (2019)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Season Seven; Early 2021-22 Renewal for CW Superhero Series
The Legends (2019)
The Legends better keep the Waverider gassed up and ready to go. The CW has renewed the DC's Legends of Tomorrow TV series for a seventh year, which will air as part of the 2021-22 television season (September 2021 through August 2022).

The sixth season will air at some point during the current 2020-21 season. According to a now-deleted Instagram post from Dominic Purcell, there will be 14 episodes. Filming reportedly began in October and is expected to finish in May. Given the uncertainty of the current pandemic, it's conceivable that the cast and crew may keep working and bank some season seven episodes.

Season six of DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Purcell, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, Olivia Swann, Amy Louise Pemberton, Nick Zano, and Matt Ryan. Shayan Sobhian and Adam Tsekhman have been...

Here’s What Happens When You Call Constantine’s New Number In Legends Of Tomorrow
After the fifth season’s zeroth episode closed out The CW’s insanely ambitious five-part “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover epic, Legends of Tomorrow returned this week with its official season premiere. The outing follows the crew of the Waverider in the aftermath of their very public adventure in Heyworld at the conclusion of season 4, with filmmaker Kevin Harris producing a documentary about them titled “Meet the Legends.”

Interviewing each of them in turn, Harris learns that self-styled “fully-forgiven” former villain Gary Green was made the apprentice of occult detective John Constantine, which was his “heart’s deepest desire,” by his fairy godmother, Nora. When the impatient Liverpudlian beckons him, Gary scurries off after hastily handing the cameraman an austere business card reading simply “John Constantine & more” with the phone number (646) 396-8703.

As it turns out, the card includes a working phone number, as curious Legends viewers discovered when they...

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Sneak Peek Unveils a New Evil Plan
Caity Lotz
Well what a mess the Legends are in, though apparently it's slightly more complicated than the mess they thought they were in last week.  In the exclusive clip above from Monday's season finale, Sara (Caity Lotz), Ava (Jess Macallan), and Charlie (Maisie Richardson Sellers) learn that the point of Neron's magical creatures-finding app isn't just to steal souls to rule Hell, as previously thought based on the pretty sticky terms and conditions. Actually, as Charlie explains above, it's to steal fear, because fear is power and energy. And people are definitely very, very afraid right now, all thanks to Ne-Ray (Brandon Routh).  In last week's episode, Gary (Adam Tsekhman) sent the...
