Ditch Day Massacre Only Has One Card Up Its Sleeve: A Movie Review
*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by producer Megan Waters. Waters and this reviewer had a minor business relationship back in 2013. *a minor spoiler is hinted at in this review. Director: Joe Hendrick. Writers: Daniel P. Coughlin and Ryan Coughlin. Cast: Bill Oberst Jr., Katy Foley, Zach Silverman, Morgan Benoit and Lynn Lowry. There is something that can be said about horror slasher or thriller features. They can often be predictable and formulaic. Unfortunately, this feature, from producer Megan Waters and director Joe Hendrick, offers only one surprise in its eighty minute runtime. Character actor Bill Oberst Jr., offers another compelling performance, especially in the extended finale. But, many of the minor characters are just a line or two away from being butchered. A revenge plotline can be unpacked in a few minutes and mystery is lacking in this production. Very indie in scope, Ditch Day Massacre...

First clip from Bill Oberst’s ‘Ditch Day Massacre’
Water Tree Media have released the first clip from the much anticipated (at least by me and fans of the awesome Bill Oberst) teen slasher film Ditch Day Massacre, which stars horror icon Bill Oberst Jr. (Children of Sorrow, Scary or Die, Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies) and Lynn Lowry (Cat People, The Crazies).

The film also stars ambitious up and coming talents Katy Foley (Disdain), Zach Silverman (A Broken Code), Tara Gerard (Lake Dead), Mad Brad Potts (Puppet Master X, “Glee”) and martial arts star Morgan Benoit (The Forbidden Kingdom) and is helmed by first time director Joe Hendrick, who has collaborated with horror screenwriter/author Daniel P. Jenny Bilson, a high school senior, [who[ is the perfect student, and a wonderful daughter to a veteran police detective. But a figure from her past has come knocking. And, throwing a high school ‘ditch party,’ will end up being one Hell of a mistake!

Be Warned: Much of the film’s story is revealed in this short reel. The...

Geek Gossip: Robot & Frank, Secret Village, Ditch, Broken, A House Is Not A Home, Pain is Beautiful, Miss Poppins
It's the reign of the robots on screen, even though Spielberg's Robopocalypse went back to the drawing board for a total rethink.

Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim will show pilot-operated machines tackling an invasion of giant monsters, another Transformers is on the way and the next X-Men film is an exciting time-travel tale that will see mutant-hunting Sentinels targeting the team.

Continuing the trend but on a much smaller scale is Robot & Frank, which will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on March 8, 2013.

An official UK poster was recently unveiled for the movie, which is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler, with Robot voiced by Peter Sarsgaard.

Robot & Frank is a buddy caper. Set in the near future, ageing curmudgeon and retired jewel thief Frank (Frank Langella) lives a solitary life until his son (James Marsden) installs a caretaker robot,...
