When news first broke that "The Naked Gun" was receiving a legacy sequel starring Liam Neeson, many of us shook our heads and criticized Hollywood for churning out yet another needless reboot. After all, the original movies are some of the best comedies of all time, and no one -- not even an actor of Neeson's quality -- could match the deadpan brilliance of Leslie Nielsen, right? However, The Naked Gun is the first action movie to really make good use of Neeson's comedic skills, with the actor starring in the reboot as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen's character of the same name. While the official trailer features a lot of the same footage and jokes from the teaser trailer, there are still plenty of new laughs to go around.

Pamela Anderson has landed her next major movie role. The former Baywatch star has joined the cast of writer-director Sally Potter‘s latest project Alma.

According to Variety, Anderson will star alongside Dakota Fanning and esteemed British actress Lindsay Duncan (Black Mirror and Doctor Who) in the supernatural family dramedy. Alma takes place as a family gather to scatter their late mother's ashes — only to find that her lingering eerie presence uncovers long-buried family secrets.

To kickstart their very Mission: Impossible focused CinemaCon presentation, Paramount first debuted the official trailer for their upcoming action-comedy The Naked Gun, a movie they are cheekily describing as "The single most important Naked Gun movie since the other Naked Gun movies."

It's a short teaser, featuring leading man Liam Neeson, as he intervenes during a bank heist, but you're going to have to just watch it to believe it. We also learn that he's playing Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's Lt. Frank Drebin, who the film will honor and it seems like they'll do it in typical Naked Gun fashion.

The studio shared the video online just before the start of its CinemaCon presentation Thursday, where extended footage was revealed to huge laughs and resounding applause. The comedy stars Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Police Squad legend Frank Drebin, initially played in the franchise by the late Leslie Nielsen.

Naked Gun’s footage teases a tone that should please fans of the original series, including a moment in which Neeson beats a man with his own dismembered arms. There are also scenes suggesting sexual activity between Neeson and Pamela Anderson’s character that are not quite what they seem. Another memorable moment references Nordberg, the role played in the original movies by O.J. Simpson.

After facing some stiff competition from rival networks, ABC is set to bring Rachel Bloom back to broadcast television. The co-creator and star of The CW's musical comedy-drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is developing Do You Want Kids?, a new single-camera series that she's once again set to lead in addition to co-writing. This time, however, her creative partner will be her husband, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers and How I Met Your Mother writer Dan Gregor. Both will write the half-hour series with 20th Studios producing and Steve Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk executive producing through Levitan Productions.

Rachel Bloom and Dan Gregor’s “Do You Want Kids?” has landed a development deal at ABC, TheWrap has learned.

Married couple Bloom and Gregor are set to write and executive produce the half-hour comedy, with the “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” actress starring in the series as well. Steven Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk are also on board to EP via Levitan Productions.

Dan Gregor, a writer and producer on Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers and How I Met Your Mother, started his career roughly 20 years ago, during an era when Hollywood looked vastly different.

Back then, it was normal for him to develop a pitch for a TV show and take it to multiple networks. With a handful of offers on the table, he says he was able to negotiate the best deal possible. Two decades and several roll-ups later, that’s no longer the case.

“You used to have a marketplace to sell your concept to,” Gregor explains. “You’d often get multiple offers, and you’d have a bidding war. You could actually negotiate up all of your rates, salaries and others rights based on competition between the studios and buyers.
